She smiled at me. I knew how
much the fact that I didn't remember anything made her suffer.

I'm
sorry that I didn't have time to talk to you yesterday. When I
returned, you were already fast asleep.” She said then.

Don't
worry mum.”

So,
which school have you chosen in the end?”

St
Isle.” I replied sitting down on my chair.

My mum gave me a strange
look and for a moment she didn't say anything.

What's
the matter mum? Anything wrong with the school?”

What?..Oh
no..nothing.  Here eat your breakfast.”

I eyed her suspiciously.
What was wrong with my mum? She looked shocked when I mentioned that
the school. Was it a bad school? Well, I will soon find out. I didn't
ask her anything. Instead, as soon as I was ready I left. It wasn't
very far away from where we lived which was a great advantage as I
could walk to go there. When I arrived in front of the big metal
gate, I stopped and held my breath. Here we are, I said to myself.
Come on Cassidy, a new life it's going to start for you. I stepped
inside and walked towards the door. I looked around; there were only
a few students. It was still early. I walked around hoping to be able
to find my class before the bell rang. It was a nice school, modern
and big. While I passed through the corridors, I looked at the charts
and paintings attached on the wall. There was one in particular which
caught my attention. It was a picture of an old lady. I was so
distracted looking at these paintings that I didn't notice someone
coming from the opposite direction, and I bumped into this person.
With the impact, all the books she was holding fell down. I looked at
her embarrassed and excused myself immediately.

I'm
so sorry, I didn't see you coming.” I apologized.

Why
don't you  look where you're going.” she snapped.

I looked up and met her
angry gaze.

Yeah,
I should. Let me help you with the books.”

Don't
touch anything OK. I can pick them myself.”

My God, she was really
odious. She was much younger than me; I could see that. Probably she
was 18 or something like that. She had beautiful blue eyes, and brown
hair. She had a very nice figure and was very tall.

Next time be more careful.”
Saying this, she shot me an angry look and walked away.

Great,
a very good start indeed,” I said to myself.

Don't
take notice of her.”

A gentle voice said from
behind me. I turned around to meet the gaze of a sweet young woman.
She was very pretty and probably around my age. She had beautiful
long brown hair and nice hazel eyes.

Oh..
hi..”

Don't
worry about her, she's the head cheerleader and thinks that this
school belongs to her and her group.”

Oh,
I see. Ahm I'm Cassidy.”

Hello,
I'm Lexie. This is your first day here right?”

Yeah,
I'm a mature student and I think it's not going to be easy to
integrate with the students. I feel the odd one out already.”

Well,
it's not easy, but don't worry. I'll help you. I'm a mature student
too. I'm 22 years old.”

I'm
25.”

Oh,
well you look younger. Listen Cassidy would you like to be friends. I
feel so lonely here. No one likes to stay with older girls, there
aren't many mature students around I'm afraid.”

Sure
that would be nice.” I felt relieved.

Great.
Do have a locker?”

Yeah,
I just hope I'll manage to find it.” I said laughing.

I'll
take you there, come on follow me. The school is very big, but I'm
sure that in a week's time you'll get used to it.”

I looked at Lexie and
smiled. She was really nice. I was so grateful I had found a friend.

So
Cassidy what subjects do you have?” She asked me while we
walked through the long corridors.

Well,
I have Art and design, Computer Studies and English as main
subjects.”

Her  face brightened
and the corners of her mouth tipped up. “Well, then maybe we'll
have some lessons together. I don't have Art and design, but I do
have English. Which hour do you have the lesson?”

Well,
it's the first one today.” I said looking at my timetable.

Room
302?”

I nodded.

Oh,
that's fantastic, we're together then.”

Really?”

Yes,
I'm happy.”

How's
the teacher?” I asked anxiously.

He's
great, he's very good and prepared in the subject. He's very
demanding and expects a lot from each student, but he's nice. You'll
like him. All the girls in class do.”

Oh
really?”

Yeah,
he has eyes to die for,” she said giggling.

Oh...
So you like him?”

Who
doesn't? But don't say that in front of the girl you met before.”

 “
Why?”
I asked curiously.

 “
Oh,
she thinks she'll be the one to make him fall for her. She wants him
at all costs, but he ignores her completely. He's too serious; he'll
never fall for a student.”

I
laughed and wondered why a student would ever fall in love with a
teacher with all the handsome guys there are at school. However who
was I to judge?

 “
Here
we are, this is the locker area. Which number do you have?”

 “
17.”

 “
OK,
then it must be there."

I
looked at where she was pointing and saw that girl again.

Oh, great, my locker was
exactly near hers. Lexie looked at me and smiled.

 “
You
aren't very lucky,” she with sympathy.

 “
Yeah,"
I walked towards the locker and passed in front of the girl without
saying anything. She just ignored me and then walked away. I tried to
open my locker, but I couldn't it seemed stuck.

 “
Can
I help?” I turned around and saw a handsome guy looking down at
me. He was really tall, he was surely a basketball player I thought.

 “
Well
yes, I'm trying to open it but I can't.”

 “
Let
me.” He said. Saying this, he turned the key in the locket then
slammed his hand against the locker and magically it opened.

 “
Wow.
Thank you.”

 “
No
problem, I'm Blake.”

 “
Cassidy.”

 “
You're
new right, I never seen you before.” He said leaning against
the lockers. He was a very good looking guy with piercing blue eyes.

 “
Yes
I am.”

 “
Then
I'll see you around. I have to go now,” he said winking at me.
I blushed, and Lexie ran towards me as soon as he left.

 “
Wow
Cassidy, you're so lucky?”She exclaimed.

 “
Lucky?
Wasn't I the unlucky one?” I said jokingly. But she was
serious. “Why?”

 “
Why?
That's Blake Wilson, the most popular guy in school. He's on his
third year here; he's 22 and he's the captain of the basketball
team.”

 “
Then
I was right, I thought he would play basketball.”

 “
I
think he likes you. The way he looked at you said it all.”

 “
Well,
I'm sorry for him but I already have a boyfriend, and I love him a
lot.”

 “
Oh.”

Just
then the bell rang. I put the books I didn't need in the locker and
followed Lexie to the English room.

 “
Oh
good, the teacher is not here yet.” She said peeping inside the
classroom. “Cassidy why don't you sit near me.”

Of
course if there's an empty seat.”

Oh,
not to worry, no one ever sits near me.”

I felt sorry for her. Why no
one liked her, she seemed nice and she reminded me of someone. Maybe
there were still a lot of things that I had to learn about college
life. All of a sudden an odd feeling of uneasiness washed over me and
I felt panic taking possession of me. Maybe I had rushed, I didn't
have experience of school life at all. What the teachers expected and
how to behave with my classmates. All this was new. Lexie seemed to
read my thoughts..

Cassidy
don't worry it's going to be OK. Everyone is a little excited the
first day.”

We went in the big classroom
and we took a seat near the window. After a few minutes, all the
students started coming in. I saw that girl again, she was talking to
three girls all dressed in a stylish way. All of them had perfect
haircuts and a lot of make up. She gave me a bad look when she saw me
and then she sat down on the other end of the classroom thanks god.
But the teacher still didn't show up.

How
strange, he's late today,” Lexie said. “He's never late.”

I was so curious to see this
handsome teacher that everyone liked. I was curious to see if I was
going to like him as well. I took some papers out and begin to draw
something. This seemed to be the only thing that helped when I was
nervous. At that moment, I heard the door opening and close and a
sensual voice saying good morning. My heart stopped; I began to
tremble... No, this wasn't possible. My stomach ached. I was afraid
to look up. I loved that voice; I loved the man who had that voice. I
rose my head in his direction. He hadn't seen me yet; he was busy
pulling papers out of his briefcase. Lexie was looking strangely at
me.

Cassidy
are you OK?”

I didn't reply. My God, he
was so handsome this morning. I loved the blue shirt he was wearing.
It made his eyes look bluer if that was even possible. My heart
jumped in my chest against my ribcage, and butterflies erupted in my
stomach.

Hey,
Cassidy. I deduce that he had the same magical spell on you. You seem
to have been thrown in another world.”

Again I had ignored what she
was telling me. I kept looking at him. Probably he must felt my gaze
on him because he rose his head and looked in my direction. His face
changed expression; I couldn't describe the way he looked at me. He
was flabbergasted. His mouth opened and for a moment we just looked
at each other forgetting where we were, forgetting all the other
persons. It was just me and him.

CHAPTER 23

David's Pov

Oh my God, I cant' believe
what I'm seeing. What is she doing here? Fate can't do this to me
again, no.. She can't be a student. It took Claire Morrison to shout
at least four sirs to get my attention. For a moment, I had forgotten
even I was in class with my students. My eyes were just on her; she
looked so beautiful.

Sir!”

Em
yes Claire?”

I turned my gaze on her and
saw the students giggling, and Claire Morrison looked at me rather
pissed off. Had I let my feelings show?

Are
we continuing what we did yesterday?” she asked.
