This means “Fuck the last train, we’re drinking till morning,” and it happens more often than not.
< YAMANOTE SEN GĒMU
A drinking game where you go around in a circle and say the names of stations on the Yamanote Line. When somebody fucks up, they drink. There are a million other themes for this, like the names of prefectures or names of foreign actresses.
< ŌSAMA GĒMU
This is basically the Japanese equivalent of “Truth or Dare.” Kind of childish and dumb, unless you’re drunk enough that it’s right on your level.
Booze
sake
Bacchus has his own language. Mostly it consists of slurred confessions about how much you love your friends, but
there are other Bacchanalian vocabules that you won’t be embarrassed of the next morning:
< CHEERS TO...!
ni kampai
. . .this beautiful country!
kono utsukushī kuni. . .
. . .the kindness of Japanese people!
nihonjin no shinsetsusa. . .
. . .recovering from alcoholism!
aruchū ga naotta koto. . .
. . .all my ex-wives (husbands)!
mototsuma (motodanna) tachi. . .
. . .brew!
mugishu. . .
How about a drink?
ippai ikaga
You got beer on tap?
nama bīru arimasuka
“Beer on tap” in Japan implies a light pilsner.

A pint of beer, please.
namachū kudasai
Namachū is the standard beer order—a medium-sized (pint) glass from the tap.
Know somewhere we can drink a microbrew?
dokka jibīru nomeru mise wakaru
You probably need to go up into the mountains, to a hot spring or ski resort, to find a good microbrew.

I want to learn more about saké.
ponshu ga motto kuwashiku naritai
Ponshu is short for nipponshu, or “Japanese booze.” The word sake tends to be a general term for booze.

Hot saké gets me fucked up, man.
atsukan wa mechakucha yō kara na
Astukan is heated saké, usually drunk in the winter, and usually cheaper than the drier saké you drink cold.

Why don’t you shotgun that saké?
soko no ponshu o ikkinomi shitara
