(Jap., ‘mountain founder’). The founder of a Zen monastery, or of a Buddhist school. The anniversary commemoration is called kaisan-ki.

(turning of the heaven)

(Skt., ‘alone, unique’). The state of the soul in Hindu

ja-yoga
when it realizes that it is not dependent on such support systems as gods or material sustenance. Kaivalya-
mukti
is thus freedom from all further rebirth.
Among Jains, kaivalya describes the jiva (soul) emancipated from
karma
, and regaining its original condition of isolation from
ajiva

Kaji
(Jap.). The power of the
Buddha
transferred to sentient beings, and the response to it. In particular, it is the transference of that power to those in need through prayer. Kaji-riki is the interaction between the Buddha and humans in activating this power.
