The following days flew by, I came home the day after I collapsed, and we celebrated Lily’s birthday as a family. I got the apology that they promised and the Stones seemed to finally come around to us as a couple and possibly as a family. I spent time with all of them individually and started to feel like I was getting somewhere. Hopefully things were turning around for the better. I knew Mason would be happier with his family around him, supporting him so I tried to put everything that had happened in the past and move on to my future.

Chapter 20

Summer

It was September and I was so big you couldn’t miss me, our child was certainly thriving. Lily was about to start school again and things were pretty much normal, well as normal as they can be I suppose. We were in the process of making plans to announce our pregnancy but Mase was adamant that he wanted us to be married beforehand, so we agreed to a small ceremony at the house with just his family and my friends. Henry agreed to be Mase’s best man, John would give me away, Lys, Mel and Lily would be my bridesmaids. All the details were completely private, we had managed to hide everything including my bump until this point but things were about to change so without any more waiting I made my way toward Mason and surrounded by our family we recited our vows and were pronounced Husband and Wife.

To me it was the wedding I always wanted, small intimate and surrounded by love, and looking into Mason’s eyes I knew he was happy. They shone bright as the sky and I knew he was as happy as I was. After the registrar had left we had an amazing meal and spent the whole day celebrating together as a family.

The following day, the Stones said goodbye and left for the States, John and Lys left for a few days away, leaving us to some quality time as a family, before Lily started school.

   Over the next few days
’ things settled down. John and Lys came back from their trip with a new enthusiasm and seemed to spend more time out than they did at home. Mase got back to work, so Lily and I decided it was time to do some baby shopping. Mason had already decided on furniture for the nursery so we bought everything else, I arranged for everything to be shipped so we had a few days, giving us time to make our announcements.

‘Hey girls, are you done shopping?’

‘Yeah daddy, we bought lots of things for the baby. I got him a big teddy with a blue ribbon.’

‘That’s great sweetie. Babe, I’ve arranged an interview for us, so we can give everybody our exciting news.’

‘Oh, ok. Should I be scared? I mean….what are we going to say?’

‘I’m about to go and see my team about strategy so in the mean time just relax and put your feet up wife, I won’t be long.’

‘Wife huh, I like that, see you soon husband.’

‘Well I definitely like that. How about we go for ice cream when I get back?’

‘Yeah, ice cream.’ Lily squealed excited and I smiled. Her excitement at the smallest things was amazing to me. With a quick kiss Mase left and Lily and I retreated to the lounge to watch a movie.

A couple of hours later Mase finally came home, with a huge smile on his face, I took this as a good sign and waited for him to tell me what had happened.

‘Honey, I’m home.’ Laughing I stood up for a hug, I never got tired of being wrapped in his arms.

‘How did it go?’

‘The interview is all set for tomorrow, same as before really although my team seem to think it would be better for me to make the announcement about our marriage and for you to tell them about the baby.’

‘Your kidding right? I don’t need to announce it, unless everybody is blind they can see it.’

‘Yeah I know but they’ve already thought of that and are going to dress you accordingly, don’t worry I pay them to take care of these things.’

‘I know but…this is weird for me.’

‘I get it, its going to be fine. Lily will be back in school tomorrow so we can deal with this and hopefully we can get back to concentrating on our family.’ Ohhhh he was just so sweet ‘So we ready for ice cream?’

‘Yeah I am.’

‘Go get your jacket Princess.’

‘Mase, are you sure about all this… I mean I don’t mind if you need more time to sort your business out.’

‘Love, my businesses are doing great, again I pay my staff a lot of money to handle things, I have a meeting arranged with my label about some new songs I’ve been working on, and everything else can wait. I need to concentrate on us, and your where I want to be.’

‘Ok, I get it. I just hope your not disappointed.’ I didn’t say anything else, what could I say, this was Mason’s world not mine.

The following morning, I woke up early with a sick feeling, it felt like something bad was waiting for me, I just hoped this wasn’t an omen of things to come. By the time we ate breakfast and got dressed it was time to drop Lily at school for the first day of term. As usual her excitement was tangible but I couldn’t quite shake the feeling of dread sweeping through me.

‘Babe, your quiet. Are you ok?’

‘I’m sorry….I can’t help feeling like today is going to be a bad day. It’s probably just nerves or something.’

‘Its fine, but I have everything planned so you don’t need to worry. Ok Lily here we go.’

‘Mummy, will you be picking me up?’

‘Of course baby, we’ll both be here.’ She jumped out of the car and ran into the playground waving at us all the way. ’I hope she’s ok.’

‘Why wouldn’t she be? If your that worried I can arrange security.’

‘Nah, its fine. Let’s get this over with so we can move forward.’ Mase drove us to the studio and pulled into the secure underground parking garage. We were once again escorted to a private room where some of Mason’s team were waiting.

‘Hey boss. Everything’s ready as requested. Your outfits are hung up and I’ve spoken to producers about questions that your happy to answer, but we haven’t mentioned your announcement, just that you may surprise them. I thought they were gonna shit themselves.’ Mase laughed and then said

‘That’s great Scott, I think I’m about to shock the world watching, who wants to bet on whether Greta laughs out loud or is so stunned that she’s speechless.’

I walked away from the boys banter to take in a deep breath, If I were a betting woman I would guess Greta would piss herself, but she will probably put two and two together and confirm my pregnancy before I can, just to get the scoop. Great. Before I could ponder this any longer Perry Johnson was back to take us through everything as he had done previously, only this time I was a little better prepared but still not happy about having to do this. We were dressed and primped and then a few minutes later we walked out toward the stage, Mase gave my hand a quick squeeze and then I heard our names being called and the audience clapping, as we were welcomed onto the show. Mase waved to the camera
’s and pulled me along behind him. We sat down, and the internal pep talk I had given myself went right out the window.

‘Mason Stone everybody,’ more clapping ensued ‘Wow, who would have thought you’d be back on the show so soon, how have you been Mason?’

‘Fine Greta and thanks for having us again. It’s always a pleasure to see you and the fans.’ again more hollering.

‘Well, your fans are out in force, and I understand the crowd outside has gotten pretty loud waiting for a glimpse.’

‘Really wow, that’s nice of them.’

‘And Summer, how have you been? You’re looking well.’

‘I’m great thanks.’

‘I was told you recently came out of hospital, I hope it was nothing serious.’ Oh great, we’re playing that game huh.

‘No nothing serious, I’m great.’ I know it was vague but I wasn’t about to let Greta force my hand and announce the baby before Mase announced our marriage.

‘I’m glad to hear that, anyway I know the fans have been posting their questions for you, as this is a rare treat, but I am intrigued as to why you requested another interview so soon. Do you have something to tell us Mason?’

Mase smiled and blushed but got straight to the point.

‘Actually Greta, we have. I wanted to make sure that my fans were the first to know, they’ve always been supportive and this is our way of giving something back, and telling you all....’ The room fell silent, I mean you could hear a pin drop while everybody waited with mouths agape for Mason’s announcement ’that Summer finally agreed to be my wife,‘ huge gasps and sudden applause from the audience ‘we had a private family ceremony and tied the knot last weekend.’

The room was suddenly so quiet again, I held my breath for a response and then finally the audience started to clap and cheer, Greta
’s stunned expression changed to a smile but you could tell she wasn’t amused.

‘My goodness, well what a surprise. Congratulations to you both.’ As the clapping eased Greta made a point of showing the crowds reaction from outside the studio, and to my shock they were cheering and hollering. I let out a sigh of relief although I wasn’t sure they would feel the same when I dropped my bombshell.

‘Well you did say that we would have the exclusive when you were on the show last so thanks for that, can you tell us about the wedding?’

Mase turned to me and I gave him a smile.

‘Well, we wanted something small, and intimate which is why we had close family only, both Summer and I like our privacy so we got married at home, it was perfect.’

‘That’s sounds lovely, what was the proposal like Summer?’ Oh shit.

‘Well, Mason actually proposed while we were still in the States, and being the amazing guy he is, it was beautiful, we just didn’t plan a wedding until we knew we could be together. It’s been a bit of a struggle, especially when I had to return to the UK but we’re making it work.’

‘Ohhh that’s sweet, well what are your intentions now Mason? Are you planning to go back to the US or stay in the UK?’

‘Well actually we’ll be doing both. I’ll be commuting back and forth for a couple of months but my intention will be to stay put for a while. I’m in the process of writing some new material so I’m hoping to record and release by the end of the year.’

Again the audience cheered, it would seem I wasn
’t the only one who loved Mase’s singing.

‘Well I’m glad to hear your singing again.’

‘Yeah well you can thank my wife, she is very supportive and has encouraged me to start singing again. I have missed it and hopefully my new songs will give you a little insight into my life, she’s my muse.’ Ohhhh’s and Ahhhh’s from the crowd, that’s a good sign right?

‘I can’t wait. It sounds like you’re very happy.’

‘We are,’ I said before Mase could reply ‘we’re very happy and I wanted to thank everybody for allowing us the space we requested previously, it’s given us time to just be together as a family, I know Mason respects his fans and is grateful for the support, so I hope you will be equally as supportive when we welcome our son into the world come the new year.’

I was met with utter silence, which unfortunately for me, brought a tidal wave of emotion causing my eyes to water immediately. Mason didn
’t wait for an audience reaction his response was solely because of me.

‘We are very happy and can’t wait to add to our family, he really is our little miracle, we thought we would need help to get pregnant but as fate would have it, we didn’t.’ More Ohhh’s and Ahhh’s came from the audience to his comments which gave me a small reprieve to get myself together.

‘Well Mason you are full of surprises today, married and a baby on the way, what next?’

‘Actually I was hoping to sing a new song for you all, it’s a love song, which I wrote within a few weeks of meeting Summer. Nobody else has heard it yet.’

‘That sounds amazing, let’s hear it for Mason Stone ladies and gents.’ More applause from an excited crowd ‘I want to thank everybody for watching today on this very exciting episode and we want to wish Mason and Summer all the best, but without further delay, a world exclusive, singing a new track for us today, Mason Stone.’ Greta really knew how to work the crowd, they went wild, even the outside fans were chanting.

I hadn
’t heard this track yet, it was a complete surprise for me so I couldn’t wait, and apparently neither could his fans. I waited for the track to start, he sat at the piano and started to play the most beautiful melody, and I just…well, I just floated away.
