Don’t like him.  Do NOT like him.

“I really did have a crazy week,” she said out of breath.

“I know you had a crazy week.  I did too.”  He stopped talking as if he was thinking about something then changed the subject.  “I’m just glad you’re not too mad at me,” he said with a smile.

“Not too mad,” she teased.  “But we can call a truce for the moment, Detective.”

He cupped her face and stroked her cheek with his thumb.  The move made a crack in the wall around her heart.  “Good.”

He began kissing her again and her body melted into his, her arms around his neck.  She let her lips leave his mouth and find their way to that spot on his neck she liked to suck on.  Yeah.  That one.  Right.  There.  She bit down softly and he groaned.

He pushed his hands down her waist and into the bac
k of her Yoga pants, cupping her ass cheeks and grinding her into him.

“Mmm,” he said in between kisses.  “I want you.”

She smiled and grabbed at his shirt, pulling it over his head.  Once it was off, she immediately ran her hands up his arms and hugged herself to him.

“You’re so warm,” she whispered.  He felt so good.

“Are you cold?”

“I won’t be for long.”

“No.  You won’t.”  He turned them so they were against the wall in the living room.  “I don’t wanna move my hands.  Take off your shirt for me.”

She did and she was left in her bra on top.

“Take it all off, Em.  I’ve been dying to see you again,” he breathed.

She pulled the bra off and tossed it to the floor.

“Oh, yeah,” he breathed, mesmerized by her breasts.  “Your tits are even better than I remember.  Push ’em together.  Hurry.”

She couldn’t believe how emboldened she felt with him.  It was unlike her, but she was embracing this new side of her
self.  It was so freeing.

She did as he asked and offered her breasts up to him. He proceeded to take one nipple between his lips, suck it quickly and go to the other.  Back and forth, he moved between them and made sounds of pleasure while he did it.  She couldn’t stop the sounds escaping from her as well.

She was so ready and didn’t want to wait.  “Hurry,” she begged.  She grabbed at the back of his head and pulled his hair with tufts of it in between her fingers, tilting his head away from her nipples.  “Kiss me,” she demanded with a growl.  He laughed and then they attacked each other’s mouths, biting, nipping, licking.  “
Hurry
.”

“No.  We hurried on Monday,” he said out of breath.  By this time, he was holding her up with one hand against the wall and pulling one of her legs out of her
Yoga pants.  Within seconds her leg was out and the pant leg was hanging to the side.  He slid her leg out of her panties so they too were hanging with the pant leg.  He was pulling at his own sweats so they would fall while she finished kicking off her pants.

She was clawing at his back, pulling at his hair, kissing him all over his face.  “Hurry
up.
”

He chuckled then stopped long enough to look her in the eye.  He spread her legs wide and draped them over his forearms, holding her still with his hands on her ass.  Then he penetrated her.  Slowly.

Her head fell back to hit the wall.  “Ahhh,” she moaned, the sound being forced out of her body as he pushed inside her.

He moaned with her and put his face into her neck, kissing and nibbling.  He held still for a moment, then pulled out and pushed back in.

“Faster,” she said through gritted teeth, pulling at his hair.

“No.”

She began pumping her hips, trying to use her legs as leverage but she couldn’t wrap them around his waist because he had them over his arms.  She was a slave to the rhythm he set.

She grabbed his hair even harder, pulling his head back to look into his eyes.  His gorgeous brown eyes shone with such pleasure and lust.  “
Faster
.”

“Make me,” he challenged with a sexy grin.

She bucked against him several times, racing toward that glorious finish, but he held her even harder against the wall.  He let out a moan and kissed her, licking into her mouth.

“I wish I could explain how good this feels,” he groaned.  “I don’t want it to end.  Like a tight wet fist, so hot.”

“I think I have an idea.  Now fuck me already,” she growled.

He pulled out then slammed up into her and she let out a high pitched gasp, gripping his hair tighter and tighter.  He began a steady rhythm and she swore she was going to rip apart.  Their bodies slid over each other and he continued the punishing pace bringing them higher, their voices getting louder as they got close.

She latched her teeth onto his neck and sucked which seemed to get him there faster as he continued nailing her to the wall with such force she was sure they were denting it.  Over and over he pushed her into the wall, slapping their bodies together until the ecstasy of the moment reached a fevered pitch.  He ground into her clit only a few times and she was climaxing, feeling like her whole body was shattering.  He followed right after her with a yell and they clasped each other tightly while shivers continued to pass through them.

The room was filled with sounds of their breathing and quiet satisfied moans as her legs grew heavy.  He continued holding her and fell onto the sofa with her straddling him.  There they sat for close to three minutes without either of them speaking, just her nuzzling into his chest with his hands stroking her back and hair.

“This is probably really tacky to say, but you are seriously the best sex I’ve ever had, Counselor,” he murmured into her hair.  She could hear the smile in his voice.

She was elated by his comment, and yeah, it was a little tacky, but she responded chuckling into his chest, “Golly Gee, Detective.  You know just what to say to a girl.”

He pulled her head back as he said, “I told you it was tacky.”  When she was looking at him, he said, “It’s true, though.”

She looked away and put her head back on his chest, not wanting him to see her blush.  “Are you ready for dinner?  I’m starving.”  She started to move but he stopped her.

“It’s pretty good for you, too, right?”

She looked at him at that point.  He looked so cute trying to mask his uncertainty.  Did he really need to ask?

“Aren’t you the man who everyone says women adore?”

“I don’t care what other women think.  I wanna know what
you
think.”

She smiled coyly, deciding to play with him for a minute.  “Do you think I’m faking it, Detective?” she asked in a husky voice.

“You’re body doesn’t lie, Em.  I feel your muscles clench all around me,” he whispered and kissed the tip of her nose.  She obliged him and clenched them.  He groaned and grabbed her hips.

“Then I guess you don’t need to ask what I think.”  She smirked at him.

“You’re not gonna oblige me with adjectives of my virility?”  His eyes twinkled.

She shook her head while giving him a sexy look.

“Is this part of my punishment for Bernard?”

She nodded, licking her lips.  She could feel him growing inside her again.

“How else are you gonna punish me?” he whispered.

She chuckled.  “You might be the only man I know who likes punishment, Detective.”

“If you’re givin’ it, I’ll gladly take it.  Apparently all of your exes were douches if I’m the only man who likes it.”

She didn’t clarify that there were only two.  Or one and a half if the high school jerk didn’t count.  She rolled her eyes for effect and he ignored her, continuing to talk.

“I’m starving too.  Let’s get some grub.  Unless you’re dealing out another punishment by withholding nourishment.”

“I’ll spare you this time.  Whattaya wanna get?” she asked.  They were being so domestic.  It thrilled and terrified her at the same time.

“Is there a takeout place you like?”

“I’m a sucker for Italian or Chinese, and there’s one of each down the block.  Both will deliver in 20 to 30 minutes.”

“Perfect.”  He kissed her mouth.  “Let’s order.”

……

They decided on Italian.  He ordered a meatball sandwich and she ordered their linguine special.  While they waited for the food, he looked at the large glass bowl on the coffee table.

“This is so cool,” he said inspecting it.

It was a beautiful hand blown glass bowl she’d bought at the art showing. What made it perfect for her was the fact that it had reminded her of a big sunflower.  The base was dark, but the sensual curves coming up from the base were the colors of a sunset; burnt golds and oranges.

She’d loved sunflowers since high school.  It just made her happy to look at them, and the fact that they symbolized loyalty and longevity, the two qualities which she’d always wanted in a relationship, made her love them even more.

“Thanks.  I got it at the art show.”

“It’s amazing what people can do, isn’t it?”  He looked down into it.

She nodded and smiled lightly thinking of those two qualities and the man sitting before her.

Then he moved on to search through her extensive CD collection and it hit her that she might be the only person left in the world who had one.

He pulled out the old beat up Goo Goo Dolls CD that had
Iris
on it and popped it into her player.  As the song began, Mike joined Emily on the sofa while she lounged in a t-shirt and sweats.  He stretched out next to her shirtless. Reaching over, he took her feet and placed them in his lap, kneading the instep of her left foot.

She held in a groan of pleasure and watched him as he closed his eyes and listened to the words.  Once the second chorus began, he turned to her and said, “Why was this your favorite?”

She thought for a second before answering and was overcome by a sense of emotion.
Fuck. What the hell is wrong with you, Emily?
  She looked away then shrugged.

“The sound of it, I guess.  It’s haunting.”

He nodded, staring at her.  “What about the words do you like?”

“What is this, Twenty Questions?” she teased.

“Just two.”

Don’t make a big deal out of this, Em.

“I guess it spoke to me in high school.  The words described how I was feeling at that time.  And the movie,” she shrugged.  Would there ever be a man like Nicolas Cage who would love her so much that he would sacrifice to be with her?  Even if it was just to be with her for a day?

He nodded, waiting for her to continue.  When she didn’t, he said, “Didn’t feel understood?  Had your heart broken?”

She shrugged it off again.  “What teenager didn’t?”  She paused then watched him.  “I can’t imagine you caring if people understood you or not.  And I definitely can’t imagine you with your heart broken.  I imagine you were the one doing the breaking,” she smirked.

He covered his heart with his hand.  “I’m hurt, GC,” he teased.  He put his head back on the cushion while his hands played with her foot.  “I was just like every other teenager in the world.”

She looked at him and propped her head on her hand which was resting on the back of the sofa.  “You said last week that you’d never been in love.”

“I haven’t.”

She didn’t want to analyze how happy that made her.  “So you didn’t feel understood then?”

He shrugged.  “I guess on the outside I appeared like the all American kid.  Went to school in Manhattan, played sports, had lots of girlfriends,” he smiled and looked over at her.

“What a surprise.  So why weren’t you understood, then?  Sounds like you had it all.”

He was quiet for a moment, then, “I thought deeper than most of my friends.  I liked playing guitar.  I liked poetry.  Liked to read.”  She remembered Monday night seeing his guitar against the wall and the ton of books in his bookcase.  “Big jocks aren’t supposed to like those things.”

“Even in cultured Manhattan.”

He smiled.  “Sometimes it was lonely.”  He turned to her. “So, you didn’t feel understood because. . .?  Don’t think I’m letting that one go.”

“I could never be that lucky,” she said dryly, then sighed.  “I can’t really explain it.  High school was –” She interrupted herself trying to put into words what she was feeling.  “After Taylor was raped, she was the pariah in school.  I was her best friend.  I think you can put two and two together.”

“Is that when you were led to believe that you were unfeminine for your Krav Maga?”

“That came later.  It was really just trying to be a teenager with a bunch of assholes who didn’t believe that Taylor was really raped.  And since I loved her and she was my best friend, I was guilty by association.”

“High school is tough.  Kids can be such fuckin’ jerks.  Add in all of the hormones and they’re even bigger idiots.”  He stared at her until she looked at him.  “I’m glad you started the mentoring program.  I really am honored that you asked me.  I think we can make a difference even if in a small way.  Every little bit counts.”

Again, she was hit unexpectedly with emotion.  She was saved as her intercom went off announcing the arrival of their dinner.  She gladly got up, happy to end the conversation.  They had been entering into vulnerable territory she didn’t want to enter.
