She backed away from him, the sadness in her eyes killing him. “I know.”
On top of all the other strife, he’d added this shit to it. “Just remember to take your fuckin’ pills every mornin’,” he conceded on a sigh. “Don’t end up pregnant no time soon.”
To ensure that, he should stay out of her pussy, but she always found a way to change his mind.
“I ain’t too hungry no more either, so I’ma head over to the club.”
“Or you can help me in the shower. I might need my back scrubbed or something.”
Standing, he placed an arm around her waist and lifted her up, heading for the staircase. “Describe the ‘or something’ part.”
“You inside of me.”
“I can fuckin’ arrange that,” he promised.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. “I thought you could.”
Just for a little while, the problems cropping up would be put on hold while he lost himself inside his girl.
R u busy?
Stretch considered his text, his finger hovering over the ‘send’ button, wondering if he should leave Fee alone. She’d put them in a hell of a position. A fucking rock knew better than to trust Kendall. But she’d looked so hurt when he’d pushed her away. It hadn’t dawned on him, until then, that how he felt about her might matter. Yes, she’d been upset at Cash’s anger, but Cash was always yelling about something. She must’ve been used to his asshole-ways. Stretch was. For some reason, his grouchiness made him even more appealing.
Stretch liked the challenge of Cash’s surliness. But he also appreciated Fee’s soft heart. In her was the gentleness Cash would never fucking offer.
Now, Stretch wanted to check on her. He rarely ever texted her, but Cash had been locked in his room for two days recovering from the injuries he’d received at Outlaw’s hands. He’d never forget the sight of Cash, bruised and bloodied, on the floor of Outlaw’s office. Hopefully, the stubborn motherfucker had learned his lesson.
After coaxing Cash out of his room to eat and promising the coast was clear, Fee walked in with her news.
Fuck!
Fee’s naiveté replayed in Stretch’s mind. Of all the fucking women in the world…Kendall...Why?
The memory of their unexpected meeting he’d had with her the day Cash had gone crazy and fucked with Outlaw pushed away Stretch’s frustrations. Her pretty legs and perfect tits. Her long brown hair that he loved to feel sliding through his fingers.
“Who are you texting?”
Diesel’s question snapped Stretch back to reality and he glanced up. Instead of sending his message, he locked his screen and set the phone on the bar top. It was early afternoon and with his leg hurting, Stretch had gotten a Probate to take over gate duty.
Diesel slid onto the stool next to him.
“You’re home early from school.” He pulled out his cigarettes and held one out to the boy, lighting them both up afterwards. “Meggie know?”
“Yeah,” Diesel answered, releasing smoke through his nose. “There was in-service or some shit.” Cigarette hanging from his lips, he glanced around. “Daphne around?”
“Out in the yard with Potter.”
A muscle ticking in his jaw, Diesel snatched the cigarette from his mouth and set it in the ashtray. “She fucks a lot. She was just with me, you, and Cash, three days ago.”
Stretch wouldn’t tell Diesel that Daphne had been with six or seven other men since then.
He, on the other hand, hadn’t been able to touch her. Figuring she’d gone along with Cash’s claim about Saturday night for sex and money, Stretch slipped her a hundred dollars to pretend on his behalf. As long as Cash believed Stretch had fucked Daphne, there wouldn’t be a slew of questions about
why
he couldn’t.
Saturday night in his room kept running through his head. He wanted
that.
He didn’t want meaningless sex with meaningless people.
It had surprised Stretch when Cash announced they’d fuck Daphne one at a time and in private. As he’d thought about it, though, and his turn had come with her, Stretch realized he’d been granted a reprieve. He wouldn’t have to perform if no one watched him.
“I’m bored.”
Stretch rubbed his knee, attempting to alleviate the stiffness. “You don’t have homework?”
“I do, but it’s not even two yet.” Diesel blew out a frustrated breath. “I was hoping I could sneak with Daphne before I went home.”
“Sneak, huh?” Stretch shook his head. “That’s not a good way to live. If you have to hide what you’re doing, then you know you shouldn’t be doing it.” Words he knew too well.
“I know.”
“Ask Outlaw to arrange it.”
For a moment, Diesel went silent, chewing on his lower lip and considering Stretch. “Before I do that, I’m going to ask you the same thing I asked Cash the other day.”
“I’m not as talkative as Cash.”
“I never would’ve guessed.”
Stretch narrowed his eyes at Diesel, the smart-mouthed little motherfucker. “What’s the question?”
“Do you think Uncle Chris is disappointed in me?”
“No.” Stretch figured a full explanation as to why he gave that answer was warranted. Except he had his own problems. He couldn’t delve into some kid’s.
A few moments of silence went by before Diesel scratched his chin. “That’s it? You’re not adding anything else?”
Irritation surged into Stretch. “You didn’t ask for my opinion. You asked me a direct question. I gave you an answer.”
Diesel huffed and folded his arms. “What do you think he felt about me going with Daphne, you, and Cash?”
“I’m not Outlaw, so I don’t know.” Besides, whatever fallout Diesel faced would’ve already come. “I’d say not to stress too much.”
“I already talked to Uncle Chris, and he said it’s fine, but I’m still worried. I can’t lose him and Aunt Meggie. Cash says he was wishing he could come with us.”
“Don’t believe that. Outlaw’s happy where he’s at.”
It didn’t seem Diesel intended to leave any time soon, so Stretch got up and went behind the bar, grabbing two beers from the cooler. He opened them and slid one to Diesel. “I don’t like talking about shit that’s not my business.”
“If I’m asking—”
He returned to his seat. “You’ve already asked Cash.”
“I-I just feel a little guilty. If I knew I had his complete approval, I would’ve called being with Daphne a big score for me.”
Since Diesel’s arrival, Stretch had rarely spoken to him. He’d filled out a lot in the months he’d been living with Outlaw. The type of man brimming with testosterone who’d dislike Stretch if he knew the truth.
He took a deep draft from the bottle. “One thing we both know about Outlaw is he lives without regret. If you enjoyed yourself with Daphne, don’t let guilt ruin it.”
Diesel nodded. “Cash told me about his background. What about yours?”
“My parents are bible-quoting, straight-laced, blue-collar people. I don’t talk to them and haven’t in years.” He wouldn’t mention how much he missed them sometimes and hoped one day to repair their relationship.
“Oh, man, that’s tough.” Silence and then, “I don’t remember my mother. She left years ago.”
“You have a family now.”
“We both do. Do you know Outlaw told Meggie about the other day?”
“I can believe that. He tells her everything.”
Diesel finished his cigarette, then took a sip of beer. “She gave me a long lecture.” He grinned. “She’d thought I was a virgin.”
“Women like to think their sons are angels.”
“Oh, man, I’m not her son. I couldn’t even imagine dealing with a girl like her for a mom. Total MILF. You know? Mother I’d Like to Fuck.”
“I know what the fuck a MILF is.”
Diesel grinned. “I keep my dudes away from her. One time I brought a guy there and his response? ‘There’s a mother I’d like to fuck’. Uncle Chris was three feet away. I was so worried he heard. After that, I couldn’t risk it. Next time, I brought two dudes to Uncle Johnnie. We were all in the garage and Aunt Kendall comes in in a fucking
nightgown
. She said she didn’t know we were there, but it was obvious why she was looking for Uncle Johnnie. The top part of it barely covered her tits.” His face flushing, he took another sip of beer. “I jerked off to that thought. Came so fucking hard I thought my eyeballs would explode.”
It surprised Stretch at how much he was enjoying the conversation, after months of not allowing himself to be interested in anything other than his injury, Hanson’s death, Cash’s feelings, Fee’s inclusion, and keeping watch on Meggie. Nothing so light-hearted as this banter. Even around the guys, he tuned out.
“Speaking of Kendall, I saw her yesterday on my way from school, talking to some dude in the park. He was wearing a cut, too. Wasn’t Dweller colors.”
Hope surged into Stretch that he’d find something to use against her, and get her to back off blackmailing Fee. Just as quickly, he thought of Johnnie and his torture. The ramifications of trying to frame Kendall were just too great. He shrugged. “Probably a client.”
“Maybe, but didn’t Uncle Chris tell her to stay away from
all
MCs?”
“Diesel, man, if you try to keep up with that chick, you’ll drive yourself fucking crazy. Her wheels are always spinning. She’s fucking brilliant to be so goddamn stupid.”
Diesel laughed. “How can you be brilliant and stupid? That doesn’t make any sense.”
“I mean she’s always scheming because she wants her fucking way. She’s stupid that way. Instead of being satisfied and using that brain of hers for her career, she uses it to get into all kinds of fucking trouble.”
“Well, that means she’s not just some basic bitch, settling for bullshit. That makes her one of the baddest bitches around.”
To each their own. Unless her bullshit was directed at Diesel, he’d never understand what Stretch meant. “You’ve labeled all the girls, I take it?”
“Fuck, yeah. Bailey is the professor. All about her schoolwork. Bunny is a hot girl. She could be a centerfold chick. Zoann is ballsy. I’m kind of afraid of her. Meggie is the nurturer. You already know how I feel about Kendall. And Fee is the most beautiful woman in the world. My future wife.”
“I beg your pardon?” He didn’t know what else to say to Diesel’s statement, not expecting Fee’s name to come up.
“Yeah. I’m in love with her. I mean, I care about Mindy, you know? I want to fuck Kendall’s brains out. But Fee is just perfect.”
“Does she know you feel this way?”
Diesel drained his bottle. “Same thing Cash asked,” he admitted, then said, “Nope, she doesn’t. I’m learning how to please a girl and stuff. When we go on our honeymoon, I’ll know what to do to make her feel good.”
“When you ask her to marry you, tell me how that goes, okay?” Fee was too sweet to laugh in the boy’s face. Although Stretch wanted to.
Pausing, Diesel considered the statement, then changed the subject. “Where’s Cash? It’s so quiet around here without him. You know, I thought he was going to wear Daphne’s pussy out, he took so long in the room with her. I was like dude, fuck, I want another go at her. Leave some for me.”
“He’s thorough,” Stretch said, the deeper meaning to that statement making him flush with guilt.
Diesel whooped. “So he
is
your boyfriend.”
“What? Of course he isn’t.” Fear sliding into him and making his heart pound, Stretch glanced around. Only Slipper sat in the corner, half-sleeping. That was still too many fucking people for Diesel to say what he had. “Don’t spout lies like that. It’ll get me and him killed.” He dropped his voice to a whisper. “Who told you that anyway?”
“No one. I just overheard Uncle Chris and Cash arguing one time.”
“About me?”
“Yeah.” Before continuing, Diesel stood and slid his chair closer to Stretch’s. “Uncle Chris was angry and told Cash you deserved better than his cheating,” he explained in low tones. “You’d been through enough. It was late. I’d fallen asleep in the den. They were across the hall in his mancave. He was angry that Cash got him out of bed. You weren’t talking to him or something, and Cash wanted to see you and asked Uncle Chris to call you. He said no, to stay away from both of them.”
