“I know. Just don’t know how to tell her.”

“Easy. Trix, you have a brother, or better yet, Trix this is Brandon, your brother. Not that hard.”

Chapter Twenty Two

I stared at myself in the mirror as I finished pulling my hair into a ponytail. I was dressed in my black leather. A gun holstered in my vest, and a knife in each boot. My bag was already packed. I double checked it making sure my extra clips and an extra gun were there along with two more knives I would later strap to my thighs. I took a deep breath and walked out of my room. I wasn't looking forward to this run. It was a run they went on often but not once had I ever made it, making me curious as to why, yet at the same time I knew there was a good reason for it.

"Trix." I heard Nitro calling from the living room.

"Coming." I threw my bag over my shoulder and walked out of my room.

"Ready?"

"Yeah, let me just say good bye to my little man." Zaiden was standing on the middle of the living room starting up at me with a sippy cup in his hands. I smiled at him as he took a wobbly step towards me. I met him halfway as he continued to walk like a drunk man into my arms. I swept him up in my arms and pressed a kiss to his head as he giggled. "Be a good boy for Grandpa and Cheyenne" I pressed another kiss to his head as I hugged him to me. I looked over at Cheyenne as she gave me a slight smile and walked over to me. I handed him over and turned and walked out the door, not knowing what I was going to be getting into. Nitro followed me out the door and started his bike. I adjusted my bag on my shoulder as I threw my leg over his bike.

"Ready?"

"As ready as I ever will be." I let out a breath and wrapped my arms around him as he took off towards the clubhouse. I tried to relax as we rode. By the time we pulled into the parking lot everyone was already there waiting on me.

"’Bout time." Venom walked over to his bike and threw his leg over it.

"Ready?" Nix asked looking almost as nervous as I was feeling.

I nodded and walked over to him.

"You will ride with Red in the van."

I nodded and turned towards Red who was leaning against an all black van.

I opened the passenger front door and hopped in. Dropping my bag on the floor in front of me I watched the guys all say good bye to their old ladies. When Zoelle pulled away from Nix and our eyes met she gave me a slight grin. I wasn't sure what she meant by it. I wasn't worried about her. She didn't know me and if she tried anything on me well she would get it tenfold back. I didn't care that she was an old lady. She wouldn't know what hit her. I smiled to myself as I thought about it would feel like to have my hands wrapped around her neck or her blood dripping from my fingers.

"Something funny?" Red startled me as he started the van. I hadn't even realized he had  gotten into the van.

"Nah just thinking."

"I don't think I want to know what you are thinking." He chuckled.

"So Red, looks like we get to spend a few hours together. I guess if you have something you want to say, say it now. I don't want to sit here wondering if you are over there thinking about a spot to toss me out on my ass in the middle of an abandoned highway."

"Nah, Trix. Ain't got nothing against you. Do I think what you did was fucked up?" He shrugged. "Maybe. But that's not on me. You have to bear the weight of that decision" I stared at him as he put the van in drive and followed everyone else.

I sat back in the passenger seat and stared at him. The next hour went by in complete silence except for the sounds of the guys riding ahead of us. I missed the feeling of being on the back of a bike but I wasn’t an old lady anymore. The back of a bike wasn’t where I belonged. No, I belonged to the club but I was nothing more than a commodity. I was a tool to them. I would never be anything more than that and I had accepted it. Accepted that my son would one day become one of them. Become what I had tried to keep him from. Then I came back. Came back to the security of a club that would take my son’s innocence away. I could sit here and tell myself I didn’t want that for him but I would be lying. He was born with darkness running through his veins. And this club would harness that darkness. Out in the rest of the world he would be a ticking time bomb just waiting to go off. Here he would be able to use his darkness. He had family who would show him how to be himself. How to use what he was to his advantage. Another reason I knew it was better for us to be here. He needed this club and his father. No matter how much I wanted to shelter him, I never could have.

The entire ride I wanted to stop and pull over. Put Trix on the back of my bike. I wanted to feel Trix with her arms wrapped around me, her chest pressed against my back and her breath behind my ear. She was so much like me it was scary. Everyone may call her a black heart, and that was true, but she had another side. I see it every time I see her with Zaiden. She wanted to keep him safe. I couldn’t fault her for that. I wanted to keep him safe as much as she did. And in all reality I didn’t want this life for him but I was too selfish. I couldn’t let her or him go. I wanted them here where I knew they would be safe, but would they really be safe? If I was being honest with myself, I would send them away. Somewhere that my enemies wouldn’t be able to touch them. Then again Trix isn’t a delicate little flower, she was strong and more than capable of taking care of herself.

The rest of the ride I tried to think about anything but Trix, even though she invaded my mind every time I thought I had pushed her out, leaving me riding with a hard on. As we got within thirty minutes of our destination I found a spot to pull off. I needed to make sure Trix knew what she was walking into.  I pulled over and turned my bike off before hopping off. When the van stopped I walked over to her as the door opened and she stepped out.

“There a problem?” Red asked as he walked over to us.

“Nah just wanted to give Trix a heads up to what we are walking into. Don’t want her being surprised is all.”

He nodded and leaned up against the van.

“So what is it that I’m walking into?”

“Just stay with one of us. The girls there are worse than the ones we bring in to the club. I know you are going to want to help like you did with Cass. These girls are trying to transition back to whatever normal can be for them.”

“What do you mean worse than Cass? Where the fuck did the girls come from?”

I pulled out a cigarette and lit it. I took a deep drag before releasing a cloud of smoke. “The majority of them used to be slaves.”

“Slaves?”

“I don’t know how else to put it. They were bought and sold, traded and stolen, and trained to be obedient to their master, or owner.”

“Ok so why are you telling me this. I know the world we live in Nix, it’s not going to surprise me.”

“Just wanted to give you a heads up.” I took a final drag of my cigarette and dropped it to the ground. “Let’s go.” I turned and walked over to my bike, ready to get this shit taken care of and get back home.

We pulled up to Angelo’s gate. The gate swung open and we rode up the long driveway. I parked and made my way to the door that had swung open.

“Ahhhh my favorite bikers.” Angelo walked down the steps towards us, donning his classic all black suit and stopping in front of me. “And who is this beauty? Please tell me you have finally brought your black heart for me to meet.” He smiled at Trix then looked back to me.

“Angelo this is Trix. Trix this is Angelo.”

“Finally we meet.” He pulled her into a hug. I laughed. She stiffened up. He let go of her and looked back at me. “So the girl with the black heart.”

She stared blankly at him as he spoke. He laughed. “Nix, I must say I am surprised you have brought her here. Come along now.” He turned walking inside.

“Come on,” I whispered to Trix as I passed her following Angelo inside.

Inside Angelo’s was just like it was last time I was here. Over the top. I glanced back at Trix who didn’t even bat an eyelash as she walked through the foyer. We followed Angelo into his office.

“Please have a seat.” He lowered himself into his chair behind his desk as I took a seat in one of the chairs in front of him and pointed to Trix to have a seat next to me. I wanted to keep her as close as possible while we were here.

Roslyn came skipping into the room, shutting the door behind her as she made her way to Angelo and threw herself in his lap.

“As you can see, my dear, I have company.”

“Yes I know. And these are my favorite of your company.” Her smile reached from ear to ear. “Nix it’s good to see you. And who’s this?” She stared at Trix.

“Roslyn, my dear, this is Trix, she is here with them.”

“Trix, come let me show you around while these guys do business. Always so boring.”

“She stays.” I spoke up before anyone could answer.

“Roslyn please make sure the guest rooms are ready. This won’t take long.”

She pouted before she stood up and made her way out of the room. I leaned over to Trix. “Her sister was the girl involved with Disco,” I whispered. She looked at me.

“What was that Nix? Please no whispering we’re all friends here.” Angelo smirked.

“Sorry Angelo, I was just trying to explain to Trix that she and Roslyn both shared the mutual hate for Disco.”

“Yes my Roslyn’s sister, may she rest in peace, fell at the hands of that piece of shit. I see that you are still here with us Trix, I’m glad to see you escaped his wrath.”

“Just barely,” she whispered.

“Yes well you can talk with Roslyn later, I’m sure she would love to have a friend that knows the pain she has gone through.” He paused. “But first business.”

Chapter Twenty Three

I didn’t quite understand what I was here for. I knew what Angelo did and who he was for the club. We worked for him. We ran guns and cocaine for him. It made us money but in the end it was simple. We worked for him and that is why I was never involved when they made these runs. Nix didn’t want him to get his hands on me to use me to do stuff for them. I was invisible to most. I was a woman in a man’s world. They wouldn’t expect me. I could see the wheels spinning in Angelo’s head. I knew he was thinking of ways he could use me and pressure Nix into letting him use me.

Roslyn was waiting for me as we walked out of  Angelo’s office.

“Come, let me show you to your room.”

“Okay.” I wasn’t sure what to think about her. I started to follow her. She reached for my arm and pulled me to her as we walked down a hallway. She pushed open a door and walked me into a room that was blinding with pink. Pink walls, pink bed, pink pillows. Pink was not my color.

“I hope you like.” She smiled as she dropped down on the bed.
