I stumbled off the bed and got rid of the condom. I had to admit, I was a little surprised to find my dick hadn’t just pushed through it with the way I had fucked Maya.

When I made it back to her side, I rolled her over and chuckled when I saw the big smile on her face.

“That was…that was…something. When can you do it again?” she asked, turning her head to look at me with sparkling eyes.

I leaned over her face and kissed her plumped up lips.

Gently, without any kind of urgency.

“You fucked me,” she said with that dopey smile still on her face. “You thoroughly, in every sense of the word,
very thoroughly
fucked me. I want that again.”

“I think you’ve had enough for a night.” I reached between her legs. She was still unbelievably wet, but I noticed the slight wince on her face when I touched her.

“I’m sorry,” I apologized, dropping my forehead on her shoulder.

She smelled like my cologne.

“For what?”

“I was too rough, Maya.”

“Get used to it. I want that performance at least several times a week.”

Ghosting my lips over her skin, I buried my face into her neck and pulled her into my arms, laughing through it.

She came willingly.

When I looked into her eyes, they were soft.

“Feel better now?” she whispered, her hand brushing my hair back.

“Yes, sweetheart. Thank you.”

Then I kissed her again, and I watched her eyes the entire time. Letting her strip me bare.

Letting it consume us.

Wanting her to consume
me
.

It was a defining kiss of how deeply we were starting to feel for each other.

I loved her skin with my hands, caressed every inch I could reach while she rested in my arms until she fell into a deep, exhausted sleep.

Only then did I let my mind rest.

Chapter Fourteen
Maya

A few days later, I was on my way up to Alexander’s office to let him know that I was going out for lunch with Helen and her niece, Stephanie, when I finally saw Adam as I was stepping out of the elevator.

“And we meet again,” he said as soon as he noticed me. I had to hand it to him: even the first time we had met, he’d been sure that I would stay around longer than the other girls he was used to seeing with Alexander.

“Hey, Adam,” I replied, giving him a half hug. “I was wondering when I would see you. How are you doing?”

His cheeks flushed a little as he returned my hug awkwardly, his lips smiling.

“I’m good, Maya. It’s good to see you here. Are you here to take Alexander out for lunch or something?”

“Ah, no. I was heading out and just wanted to see him before I left.” We started to walk toward Alexander’s office at the other end of the hallway. “I heard you were helping your mother, is everything okay?”

“Yes, yes, it is. Thank you for asking.” He gave me a shy look. “I needed to take my brother to the hospital for some tests. Usually it’s my mom who takes him because I’m either at school or here, but she couldn’t get the time off so I had to take care of it.”

“Your family is lucky to have you,” I said sincerely. From everything Alexander had told me about Adam and his little family, I admired him for trying to do his best for his mom and brother. He was at an age where he should have been more concerned with his grades or worried about impressing girls instead of the situation he was in. “If I can help you with anything at all, please let me know. I’m practically a tourist here, so I have all this free time on my hands. Might as well be useful to someone.”

When he smiled at me, there was nothing shy about it. “Thank you, Maya. I’ll keep that in mind.” As we neared the desk of Alexander’s assistant Mandy, he stopped walking, so I turned to him.

“I need to get down to the lobby, but when I saw you coming out of the elevator, I just wanted to say that, well…” He rubbed his neck. Looking down at the floor, he continued, “I know it’s not my place to say, but I’m very happy that you decided to come back with Alexander. I met Lucas two years ago when he befriended my little brother in the hospital—I’m sure Alexander already mentioned that. Anyway, I know how much that kid meant to him. When he…when he died—let’s just say, it was the first and only time I’ve seen Alexander lose his composure. I know two years isn’t a long period of time to know someone, but I’ve gotten to know him pretty well, and I think not many things make Alexander Ross cry. It was rough on him,” he said, taking two small steps back as if he was getting ready to run away. “Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I think it’s cool of you to come here. Considering everything and all,” he added, flapping his hands around.

My face softening, I said, “I’m glad you think so, Adam. You have a cool boss, so that might have affected my decision a little.”

“It’s always good to hear you are ‘cool’, I guess,” an amused voice said from behind me.

Turning around, I found Alexander leaning on his office door, watching us.

“Did you take care of what I asked, Adam?”

His eyes were on me.

“I was just heading down there,” I heard Adam say, and then his footsteps quickly faded away.

“Mr. Ross, you have a scheduled video meeting with Vegas. Should I set that up for you now?” asked Mandy, her voice slightly snappy.

I arched an eyebrow at Alexander and his eyes cut to Mandy, a fierce scowl on his face.

“Come in, Maya,” he said, ignoring her.

“If you have a meeting, I can see you later.”

He arched his eyebrow right back at me.

“I want to see you right now,” he said, accentuating every word.

If he said it was okay, who was I to argue with him? As soon as I walked past him, he said “I’ll be right back.” He closed the door to his office, leaving me alone in the huge room.

My curiosity got the better of me, and I might have listened in on his short talk with Mandy.

“What was that about?” he asked her.

“I’m sorry, sir. I thought I should remind you of your meeting, that’s all.”

“Mandy, don’t play with me. You know I don’t tolerate these things. You and I both know that my meeting isn’t for another hour. Don’t think I forgot that you let my father know where I would be the other night, and I’m well aware of the fact that Claire spends time with you when she comes up here to pester me, but I suggest you…”

Before I could hear more, I moved away from the door and walked over to look at the impressing view. As much as I didn’t like the humidity in the air, the view from the terrace of his suite—or was it his apartment since he lived there permanently?—through the floor-to-ceiling windows that rounded his entire place made up for that sticky little issue.

To be honest, living in a hotel didn’t feel as glamorous as I’d thought it would. Even though it had only been roughly a week or so since I’d come here, I was starting to miss my home and the privacy it provided. While staying in a hotel did have its advantages, I would take an actual house over it any day.

Glancing at Alexander’s predictably tidy desk, I perched on the edge of it.

The door opened and closed, and two seconds later he was standing right in front of me, his hands holding my face as he kissed the daylights out of me. All I could do was grab his shirt and hold on.

“What was that for?” I managed to ask when he separated his lips from mine.

“I can’t kiss you when I want to? What good are you then?”

I laughed, happy to see him sound like his old self. “I’m all for you kissing me like that every time you see me, just asking if something specific was the reason for it.”

“Just missed you,” he explained simply as he brushed my bangs out of my face.

“We just saw each other a few hours ago.”

“You’re right, should’ve kissed you longer,” he muttered against my lips just before his tongue slipped into my mouth.

Before I knew what was happening, my ass was on his desk and his hands were opening my legs to make space for himself.

“Whoa, wait,” I said breathlessly as his hands started to push under my dress.

“What?” he whispered. “No one will come in, don’t worry.” His lips were already trailing down from my neck to my now bare shoulder.

“I’m meeting with Helen, I don’t want to be late.”

At the same time I pressed my palm on his chest and tried to push him away, I tilted my head and gave him more access to my neck, which Alexander took as an invitation to suck that small spot that got me going crazy over him every single time.

I moaned, my body clearly eager for him to continue, but still managed to stop him from going any further.

“Next time,” I whispered as I looked into the beautiful blue in his eyes. “Promise. I’ll make it up to you.”

He arched his brow and his voice hardened slightly. “Have you had sex in someone’s office before?”

“Well,” I said, nervously looking around. “No. Can people see us?”

His body relaxed, seemingly pleased with my answer. “Only you can see outside. They can’t see you.”

His hands kept massaging my thighs, sliding up and down under my dress, sending tingles to places that shouldn’t tingle when I was going out to lunch to meet new people.

I reached for his hand, but he was quicker than I was and his thumb circled my clit over the lace of my panties.

I squirmed in my place.

“Hold still for a second,” he said, already reaching under.

When he pushed the scrap of lace aside and slipped a finger in me, I held onto his wrist. “Alexander,” I hissed.

“Hmmm.” He leaned down and kissed the edge of my mouth, his finger pushing in deeper. “You are wet.” His voice was a low growl.

My legs opened just a bit wider.

He chuckled and reached for my hand, pushing it against the hard length of his erection. “Take it out,” he ordered.

Suddenly I didn’t mind being a little late.

Taking his thick finger out of me, he pushed my dress higher and pulled me to the edge of his desk as I reached for his fly.

Just as I was pulling the zipper down, the door to his office slammed open.

I gasped and pulled my hands away from his body. Alexander’s hands let go of my thighs and he hugged me to his chest with one of his arms, effectively hiding any proof of what we’d been about to do.

“Get out!” he barked, making me flinch in his arms.

There was a prolonged silence behind me. I could see a man’s reflection in the window. Having a pretty good idea of who the intruder was, I buried my face deeper into Alexander’s neck.

“Well, well, well. Look at that. My apologies, Alex. I didn’t think you’d be busy with
that
.”

Alexander grew very still, and before he could explode, I lifted my face out of his neck and forcibly turned his face to me so he would look into my eyes.

“Don’t,” I warned simply. “Don’t do anything. Please.”

He kept his eyes on me. “Get out, Jackson. Now,” he said, the fury in his voice clear. I was afraid if I didn’t hold on to him like an octopus, he would be on Jackson in no time. I didn’t care a bit about what happened to his brother’s slimy face, but I didn’t want Alexander hurt.

“Of course, boss. Of course,” said Jackson, and then Alexander visibly relaxed.

“Son of a bitch didn’t close the door.”

“That’s okay,” I said, glancing over my shoulder. “I can’t see anyone from this angle so I doubt anyone can see us.”

Alexander took a step back from me and pulled his zipper up as I pushed my dress down.

“Maybe coming up here was a bad idea,” I admitted, hopping down from his desk to smooth my dress—and my nerves while I was at it.

With two fingers, he tilted my chin up and pressed a soft but quick kiss on my lips. “Never say that. I told Adam to have a car ready for you. If you go down to the lobby and find him, he’ll take you to the driver. When you are ready to come back, call me, and I’ll handle everything.”

“You didn’t have to do that, Alexander. I can take a cab.”

“I want you to be safe.”

“That’s sweet of you, but I can take care of myself.”

“I like taking care of you, so please don’t make an issue out of this.”

I opened my mouth to argue, but he pressed a finger against my lips, silencing me.

“For my peace of mind. okay? Just until you get used to the city and actually know where you are going.”

I narrowed my eyes at him, but reluctantly nodded.

“I’ll walk you to the elevator,” he said, his hand gently touching the small of my back. As we stepped out of his office, I noticed that he was looking for his assistant, but she wasn’t at her desk. Either she had fled after Jackson barged in, or she hadn’t been where she was supposed to be in the first place.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jackson’s smirking face as he was talking with another guy, but I made sure to look straight ahead.

“When will you get back?” Alexander asked, pushing the call button after we made it to the elevator.

“I don’t know,” I answered, distracted. I didn’t want him to be alone with Jackson after I left. I didn’t want them to take things—whatever it was between them—any further. Not when Alexander had so many things to worry about on his plate.

“Maya, can you look at me?”

I turned my face up. “Yes?”

His hands moved up and down on my arms, causing goosebumps to erupt. “We are okay?”

I cleared my face of any lingering thoughts and reached up to brush a kiss on his cheek. “Everything is fine. I’m sorry. Just, don’t punch anyone after I leave, okay? I don’t want to come back and find you with raw knuckles, or worse.”

The elevator doors opened and I stepped inside.

“Will you be late?” he repeated his earlier question, holding the doors open.

“It’s just lunch, Alexander. I’ll make sure to call you if anything changes.”

What I wanted to ask was, ‘Will you even be here when I get back?’ but I kept my mouth shut.

“Good. I want to spend an evening with you without any interruptions. And don’t make any new plans with Helen for the next few days. I don’t want someone else to show you around.” Grabbing my neck, he gently pulled me to his body and brushed a soft kiss on my forehead. “I’ll take you wherever you want to go, sweetheart.”

Happy that he wanted to spend more time with me, I smiled up at his face and he let go of the door.

Finding Adam in the crowded lobby was easier than I’d thought it would be. The moment I stepped out of the elevator, he appeared right next to me, taking me down to the garage to introduce me to my very own driver, Ben.

When I asked about it, he quickly explained that it was only when I was going out alone, which didn’t make it any better.

With the traffic, it took Ben thirty minutes to drive me to the restaurant where I was supposed to meet Helen and her niece.

To my surprise, I caught Helen right at the door.
