Suddenly, I could hear someone calling our names, and I almost didn’t notice the sirens in the distance.

“I don’t believe it. That’s my Dad! He must have got help!”

I was about to let go, but Nathan’s grip held me there. “My
darling,” he whispered. “Just a little bit longer.”

I was hardly going to complain.
As his tongue flicked in my mouth, and the sirens became louder, a wonderful thought entered my mind. There wasn’t enough time in the world to show what he meant to me. But I would definitely enjoy trying.
