After I took my new
bride home, everything finally felt perfect. I had everything I needed. I had
everything I
wanted
. I had my beautiful wife, who was undoubtedly the
love of my existence. I would greet our daughter within a few months. Perhaps
we would even have more children after her. Assuming Charlie wouldn’t kill me
for my understandable over-protectiveness of both her and the baby, of course.

Although I sometimes
found myself slipping back into the darkness, lingering on what I’d lost, I
knew everything would be okay. I had Charlie. Even when I feared I’d gone too
far into the land of the dead, Charlie held me tightly into the world of the
living like an anchor. Charlie gave me reason to live. She had become the
bright light that I knew would always lead me home through the darkness. She
had
become
my home. I knew that a long as we were together, I would be
okay. I would be happy. I would have friendship and kindness. I would have the
kind of true love that I had never fully believed in until her, the kind great poets
immortalized in ink.

She had told me once
that I was her only wish. What I hadn’t told her was that she was mine. She had
been mine before I’d even known what to wish for.

About the Author

Ema
lives in Northwest Arkansas with her husband, sons, cat, two dogs, and
chinchilla. She spends her days trying to balance the never-ending work of a
homemaker and the schedules of all members of her household while remaining
relatively sane.

An
avid reader, what time she has to herself is usually spent buried in the pages
of a book. She enjoys nearly every genre, but particularly enjoys paranormal
fiction of all types and age ranges.

While
she constantly has stories and characters rolling around in her head, Avery
called to her the loudest. After several months of conversing with Avery, Ema
decided to put pen to paper and let others visit Eirny and its beloved
residents.
