She turned to walk away and into the clubhouse, not believing that Alastair would stop her as she was safe in the compound.

Therefore she was taken completely unawares when he wrapped his hand around her mouth and dragged her into a quiet part of the garage, hidden from view of the road and the clubhouse main door.

“You should have kept your mouth shut. D’ya honestly think I’m just going to let you run off and shout your mouth off. Think again bitch. I’m going to shit you up. Queen of the MC. I can’t wait to see your husband’s face when he sees you fucked and bleeding from my cock. I hope you’re a screamer as I promise this will hurt,” he snarled.

Deanna panicked and fought him, biting into his finger and he grunted as he slapped her hard twice, before covering her mouth again. His other hand grabbed the top of her dress and pulled roughly, ripping it down the front and exposing her black lacy bra.

“Oh yes, I fuckin’ love big tits. So much to fill your hands with,” he said, kneading her breasts painfully as she cried out in distress.

She screamed furiously behind his hand as her body began to sweat with struggling and fighting him.

His eyes were glistening with excitement as he ground his erection into her thigh, grunting disturbingly. Tears leaked from the corners of her eyes as she gasped for breath behind his hand which was wrapped punishingly around her mouth.

“I see you’re no’ so brave without the stupid fuckin’ club behind you. No one’s around to help you now. Scream for me bitch,” he said as he fumbled to lift her dress. Deanna started fighting again and she closed her eyes and prayed for a miracle.

“What the fuck?” shouted a voice and Deanna thanked whoever had listened as she recognised Jamie’s shocked voice.

“Turn and walk away. I’m teaching this bitch a lesson. Make one move and I’ll kill you,” Alastair snarled at Jamie, who was stood behind him.

“I’m no’ leaving. Let her go .. .
Nate
!” Jamie shouted Nate’s name loudly as he charged at Alastair, knocking him off her.

She slid to the floor, her whole body trembling with shock as she watched the two men fighting furiously. The sound of running footsteps getting louder the closer they got.

“What the fuck? Why are you two fighting?” Deanna had never been so glad to hear Nate’s voice in her life as she saw him round the corner, Logan close on his heels, as they looked at the two men in outrage, who were now stood panting and glaring at each other.

“I’ll only ask once again. What . . ,” Nate trailed off as his head snapped in her direction. Excruciating pain filled his features when he caught sight of her on the floor, crying and shaking. All the other members now gathered round swore angrily when they saw the state she was in.

“Baby, what did Alastair do?” he asked fearfully as he ran over to her and saw her ripped dress, bruises and finger marks covering her breasts. His whole body locked, understanding filling him with fury.

“You fucker,” Nate roared launching himself at Alastair. The two men fell to the floor and Nate pounded his large fists into his face, blood erupting from Alastair’s nose and mouth as bone smashed under his rage.

“Nate,” Logan shouted as he and Bruce tried to pull him off Alastair, knowing he would kill him, but they were unable to move Nate due to his size and his overwhelming rage.

“Help us,” Logan yelled and Fraser and three other members grabbed hold of Nate and they all wrestled him off the barely conscious Alastair, whose eyes were rolling back in his head and he was moaning in pain.

“Are you alright Deanna?” Jamie asked quietly as he came over to her side.

She couldn’t answer Jamie as she was still in shock but she leaned into him for support, so thankful he’d saved her.

Deanna watched Nate as he stood panting, being restrained by six of his men and his face crumpled when he looked back at her. He staggered over and pulled her into him as Deanna burst into tears. He felt like a complete and utter failure of a husband.

CHAPTER 13

“You okay babe?” Nate asked Deanna quietly.

They were lying in bed facing each other and it was late, but neither of them could sleep. They were both still thinking about what Alastair had tried to do to her that morning.

After Nate had calmed down he’d grabbed hold of a beaten Alastair, whose jaw was hanging open grotesquely, and thrown him into one of the club’s vans. One of the members drove him off their property and dumped him, bleeding, a few miles away on the side of the road.

Ethan had arrived quickly on the scene and begged Deanna to press charges. Even though she knew she should, Alastair was obviously a very sick individual, she was more worried about what would happen to Nate. He’d seriously messed up Alastair’s face and she thought that if she pressed charges against Alastair, he would then press assault charges against Nate. She couldn’t bear it if Nate got into any trouble, he had a clean record and he needed it to stay that way with the type of work he was involved in.

They’d also spoken to Cameron about the event and he’d also been angry when she refused to press charges, but she knew that it was the wisest decision.

She continued to stare at Nate’s handsome face, who’d struggled with his raging emotions all day. She knew that he blamed himself even more for this attack on her as she should have been safe on Raven property.

Deanna had later asked about the whereabouts of the other two mechanics who should have been working and Logan explained that Alastair had sent them to a local café to get some breakfast. Nate had been furious and threatened to sack them, but Deanna and the members said it wasn’t really their fault and they were feeling bad enough.

“I love you,” she whispered.

“I love you too. I’m so sorry,” he said quietly.

“Nate, stop blaming yourself. How were you supposed to know this was going to happen?”

“He’s been a pain in the arse since starting here. I just knew something was going to go wrong. But I never thought it would be something like this.”

“Exactly, none of us did. I just want to forget what happened. Everything was going so good and now this. The graffiti, the man who’s like Lee, the assault in the alley, I have a weird man coming into the compound all the time and now Alastair. I just seem to attract psycho’s.”

“What weird man in the compound?” Nate asked suddenly alert and worried.

“Shaun. Have you not noticed him hanging around and he’s been coming in a lot recently.”

“Aye, I had. I didn’t want to worry you. I also noticed that he spent a lot of time speaking with Alastair. I’ll tell him to find another garage. You shouldn’t have anything to fear working and living here. But I’m fuming that bastard attacked you here, right under our noses.”

“Nate,” she said as she straddled him. As she leaned down Nate wrapped his arms around her waist.

Cupping his face she continued. “You have to stop feeling guilty. You’re my husband, not my bodyguard. You can’t see the future - even though if you did it would come in handy,” she joked and he smiled. “Please, stop. I know the guilt from months ago still haunts you, but we have to carry on and look to the future. Of course I’m hurt and filled with awful memories, but I also look around me and feel blessed that I have you, Holly, a wonderful family with Ethan and Alice, and the whole club. I remind myself every day of the good things I have in my life, which way outshine all the bad.”

“I’ve never thought of it that way. But the next person who hurts you, I will kill them. I swear it,” he growled darkly and Deanna believed him. He couldn’t take any more.

“I’m knackered,” Nate said yawning. He rubbed his hands down his face and winced when he caught his aching knuckles.

“Come here,” she said, cradling his swollen and bruised hands.

Deanna had been shocked when she’d seen Nate attack Alastair, she’d never seen his immense power before and now understood why the members feared getting on the wrong side of him. It had reassured her that she had a fierce protector.

“It’s been a long shitty day,” he said after they shared a passionate kiss. She climbed off him and lay next to him in bed.

“It has. But at the end of it I have you by my side,” she replied sleepily, snuggling under his arm, her head resting on his warm solid chest.

“I’ll always be there.”

“Me too. Good night Nate. I love you.”

“I love you too baby,” he said as they kissed tenderly and she cuddled into him. A few minutes later her breathing deepened and she fell into a deep sleep.

Nate lay awake for hours after, unable to sleep and shaken by his thoughts. When he’d spoken the words to Deanna he truly meant them. If he got his hands on anyone who dared to harm her again, nobody would be able to stop him.

“Are you bloody kidding me? Seriously?” Megan asked and laughed with Deanna.

“I’m going to have to order a new one,” Deanna giggled.

Megan was in the office relaxing during an unusually quiet time at the garage as the two of them caught up and ate the sandwiches Alice and Holly had brought them.

It had come as a surprise when Megan had entered the office and leaned on Deanna’s desk and the whole thing wobbled and nearly toppled over. Thankfully both Deanna and Megan had acted quickly and caught it before it crashed to the ground.

When Megan had asked what had happened to it, Deanna mentioned a little of what Nate and her had got up to when they’d disappeared during Nate’s birthday party.

“Wait till I tell Logan. You two aren’t safe around anything when you get down to it. You’re like animals,” Megan said, feeling slightly envious of Nate’s alpha ways.

As the girls chuckled naughtily they were interrupted by a polite cough from the doorway.

“Sorry, am I disturbing you? It doesn’t appear that you ladies are hard at work,” Jamie teased.

Deanna laughed. “No it’s fine Jamie, come in. We were just having a girlie chat.”

Megan snorted. “I’ll leave you to it. Make sure the next desk you order is made of reinforced steel so Nate can’t break it,” Megan said and winked, her thoughts filled with ideas for Fraser later that night.

“Are you alright Deanna?” Jamie asked her after Megan had left.

He could see she was smiling and appeared happy but he knew that she must be haunted by her memories. He’d discovered more of what had happened in her past and witnessed what she was going through now - it was just so unfair. She didn’t deserve any of it and he felt a connection to her and hoped they could become friends. He was desperate to speak to someone and knew she would understand better than anyone else.

“I’m okay. Jamie, I never got the chance to properly thank you for rescuing me from that lowlife,” Deanna said.

Deanna was agitated. Yesterday she’d overheard Nate and Ethan quietly discussing Alastair, not realising she was listening. Apparently Ethan had gone to visit him to warn him to stay away but the piece of shit had disappeared, his flat empty. Both Ethan and Nate were furious and secretly keeping an eye out, making sure he didn’t return.

“No problem. I just wish I could have got to you earlier to save you having to go through any of that. How’s Nate?” he asked, knowing Nate must be taking it hard, especially as the incident had happened on MC property.

Jamie remembered that Deanna’s attack by her ex had also occurred in the compound and rumours were going around that the MC were enforcing more strict security procedures, working alongside Ethan and McKnights. They especially needed top security as there were some expensive tools and equipment as well as rare and classic motorbikes stored on the premises.

“He’s alright. Well, as best as he can be after what happened. I’m just trying to move on. How are you anyway? Do you like working for the club?”

“I do. They’re great guys. Well, all except for Alastair, everyone has been good to me. I actually wanted to ask you a favour. I was wondering which therapist you see? After everything you’ve gone through you appear to be managing brilliantly. How do you do it?”

“I’m not actually seeing a therapist. I find talking to Nate especially helps. I’m also really close to Megan who I confided in when I was with my ex. We’re really tight and I have her to thank for this life here in the MC. I also speak to Alice. Why, is there something bothering you?” she asked concerned.

“No, it’s . . . erm . . ,” but he didn’t know what to say and how to explain his problems.

“Hey, you’re okay. If you ever need to talk about something, I’m here. I think I could help.”

“I know. I might take you up on that offer one day when I’m ready to talk about it. But thanks Deanna,” he said quietly.

“You’re welcome. Why don’t you come over and have dinner with us tonight?”

“Are you sure? Thanks, I’d like that.”

“Great, come over for seven o’clock. Is there anything you don’t eat?”

“No, I eat about everything. I’ll see you later then,” he said shyly before he left.

Deanna watched him walking away and felt sad. Jamie had obviously been through something traumatic in his past and needed to get it off his chest. She made a note to watch him closer from now on, he was only young and she didn’t want his past to affect his future, which was filled with promise. She would speak to Nate later about him.
