“
That would be my cue to leave,” she said, but didn’t move away from him.
He thought back to when she’d come into his priva
te room earlier that night. She’d looked like she wanted to rip him apart. Now she looked at him as if he were her world. “Meet me back here tomorrow night.” He had something he wanted to work on, and needed to see her again.
Jamie bit her bottom lip. H
e had already figured out that it meant she was thinking about something bad. “My dad will have me on a tight leash after tonight and most likely won't let me out of his sight for a while.”
Henry glanced at the car
where Emily sat waiting for Jamie. “Maybe if it’s you and Emily he’ll let you come, do you think? I’ll get Mike here too. He hasn’t shut up about her since he met her.”
She smiled up at him, and he loved how her eyes seemed to sparkle
in the moon light. “Okay I’ll try, but I can't promise anything.”
Henry nodded and gently brus
hed his lips against hers. He watched her sparkling dark green eyes flutter closed. He laid his forehead against hers, and she opened her eyes.
“
You make it really hard to leave.”
He grinned and winked at her
. “I’ll see you tomorrow night.”
He shook his head, she deserved so much better than this
. She stole his breath away when she smiled at him, and she was more than just beautiful, she was smart and caring. “One day I will treat you to a real date, Ms. Moore.” Jamie's eyes grew glossy. They both knew they could never have a real date. Not as long as the law was still in place. Henry pulled her to him, and held her close. “Text me when you get home,” he whispered against her ear and gently kissed her neck. She shivered in his arms.
“Okay,”
Jamie said with a nod and slowly moved away from him. She glanced one last time at him over her shoulder, and then got into the car.
He shut the door, and laid his opened hand against the window
. Henry moved away from the car and watched it drive away, and then he walked to his bike. He picked up the helmet to put on, and smiled because it smelled like raspberries.

Jamie turned to get one last look at Henry; he was walking to his bike. When she’d planned on see him again, she’d never imagined it would end like this. She’d been so mad when she thought he was using her, and when she slapped him she thought he would be angry with her, but he wasn’t. Tonight had been amazing and her lips still tingled from Henry's kisses. Her mind took her back to the club and the sound of gun shots rang through her ears again.
“
Are you going to tell me about what the hell happened tonight and why I need to be your alibi?” Emily asked and quickly glanced at her.
Jamie had never kept anything from her, but if she told her
, then Emily could be tortured for the information. She took a deep breath and turned to look at her best friend. “I will tell you what you need to know, and nothing more. I don’t want my dad to hurt you. Tonight I went to
No B
without you. I needed to see Henry and talk to him alone. I wasn’t there for long before all hell broke loose. My father came in looking for me and his men shot people. Henry got me out of there.”
Emily stopped the car at a red stoplight, and turned her hazel eyes to look at Jamie
. “I know there is more to this story,” she said, closing her eyes. “He’s a Blue isn't he?” Emily reopened her eyes and stared at Jamie.
Jamie shook her head
. “I can't tell you that, my father will question you and he wouldn't hesitate to hurt you to find out what you know. Less is better.”
Emily mumbled something that sounded like a
curse and hit the steering wheel.
“
Henry wants us to meet with him and Mike tomorrow. He said Mike hasn’t been able to stop talking about you.”
Emily did
n’t respond, she just kept driving, her eyes staying on the road.
Ten minutes later they pulled into Jamie's driveway. T
hey didn’t talk at all. Jamie slowly got out of the car, worried about what Emily was thinking, but she said nothing further on the subject. “I’ll call you tomorrow,” she said as she started to close the door.
“I’ll go,” Emily
told her, and Jamie looked back in the car at her. “I’ll go with you to meet the guys, just tell me what time.”
“I’ll call you,” Jamie replied, shutting the door and running up the walk to the house.
Before she could even turn the doorknob on the front door, it opened.
Her father’s dark-
green eyes were on Emily's fleeing car. “Where the hell have you been?” He turned his heated gazed to Jamie.
She took a deep stea
dying breath to calm her nerves. “You know how I feel about having bodyguards, and I wanted to be alone. I knew that wouldn’t happen, so I called Emily to pick me up behind Black Diamond, why?” she said defiantly, wondering if the men that were assigned to her were in trouble. She didn’t want them to lose their jobs. Slowly her father moved out of the way to allow her in the house. She headed up the stairs without a backward glance. She wanted to text Henry.
“
Jamie we need to talk about what happened tonight. You can't just ditch your bodyguards, not
now
. There is something going on and some people would love to use you against me.”
She knew they would have to talk about all of this, but not right now.
She sighed, and turned on the stairs. “Dad I’m so tired. All I want to do right now is sleep. Can we please talk in the morning?”
He pinched the bridge of his nose and nodded his head
. “Fine,” was all he said as he turned and walked down the hall.
Jamie shook her head and walk
ed up the stairs to her bedroom, gently she shut the door behind her. The first thing she did was pull the phone out of her bra. She scrolled to the contacts list and there was only one number listed, but no name attached to it.
I'm home
,
Jamie wrote and pressed send.
Within
a few seconds the phone buzzed in her hand.
Good, but I miss you already.
Her
heart soared as she read his words. She peeked at the time and grinned, it had only been twenty minutes since she’d seen him. She ambled to her bed and sat down. Her heart was beating so hard she thought it might break free.
I miss you too,
Jamie wrote back and brought her finger tips to her lips. They were still tingling from his kisses. She wondered if he was feeling what she was, if he could still feel her lips on his.
Did ev

erything go okay with your dad?
Sh
e felt a smile grow on her face, he was worried about her. No one besides Emily had cared about her like that.
Yes, we are talking in the morning. How's Mike doing?
Jamie asked hoping Henry would have an update. She had been worried about him since he’d told her he’d been shot.
He will be
fine. His mother is a doctor and is taking care of him. But it's getting late. Get some sleep. I will be counting the seconds until I see you again. Good night, sweetheart.
She didn’t think her heart could beat any faster, but she was mistaken. She loved that he called her sweetheart, no one had ever called her a pet name before and she loved it.
Good night
, Henry.
Jamie desired to say more, but she wasn’t romantic with her words like he was. She had never been good with words. She’d had boyfriends, but none of them made her feel like this. She wanted to be with Henry, even knowing that it was against the law, and her father would freak out. Slowly Jamie got up, glanced at the phone one last time, and then put it in her underwear drawer. She wasn’t taking any chances with her father finding it.
Jamie changed into
a white tank top and black spandex shorts and then crawled in her warm bed with her mind on Henry and his kisses.
Chapter Five
Fiery Red Head
Jamie was
torn out of an incredible dream with Henry, by a loud hard knocking on her bedroom door. She squinted at the clock on her wall and moaned it was only a little after nine in the morning.
“
In my office, in five minutes,” her father ordered through the door. She knew it was pointless to argue with him when he sounded like that.
Slowly Jamie got out of bed. S
he checked her cell phone and saw one new message from Emily.
I'm up for tonight, but I want to know everything
.
She sighed, and shook her head
. She didn’t think Emily should know, but she didn’t see any way around telling her. Jamie strolled to her bedroom door, but stopped when she remembered the other phone. She pulled open her underwear drawer and grabbed the phone. Her heart raced when she saw one new text message was waiting for her.
Good morning
, sweetheart. I don’t want you to be surprise when you see me. Your father called me into work today. He said we had to talk about his seeing me at the club last night. I’ll tell him what he needs to know. I want to be able to see you, even if it is just a little bit during the day. I’ll be seeing your beautiful face soon.
Jamie
lip. Her father had seen Henry. She questioned what he was planning. She left her bedroom, heading toward her father's office. Jamie was still wearing a skin tight white tank top, and her black spandex shorts. She was pretty sure her hair looked like it was on fire and sticking up all over her head.
Jamie opened the office door and saw her father sitting behind his desk with Henry standing next to him
. Even knowing he would be here, her heart still soared at the sight of him. His bright blue eyes were on her, and she tried like hell to keep her eyes on her father.
“
I need to speak with my daughter,” her father said as he stood up. He walked to the front of his desk, and leaned against it, his arms crossed across his chest.
“
Yes sir, and thank you for this,” Henry said with a bow of his head to her father.
Jamie's father shook his head
. “There’s no need to thank me. You didn’t do anything other than get you and your date out of there safely.” His eyes never left Jamie’s as he spoke.
Henry walked toward her and he smiled at her, but
she kept her face blank, her expression bland. “Miss Moore,” he said as he lowered his head in a bow of acknowledgement, but when he lifted his head, he winked at her.
As he walked past
her, his amber cologne wrapped around her and Jamie wanted to lean into him. She wanted to feel his lips on hers, and his warm arms holding her to his hard body. But she kept her eyes on her father, her face not ever changing expression. She didn’t want to get Henry in trouble, and she had the feeling her father was testing her and Henry.
“
Why didn’t you call me back last night?” he asked her when the door shut. Jamie had seen that he’d called over twenty times and left a hand full of voicemails.
“
I knew you would be calling me, so I turned it off. I didn’t want to hear you yell at me or try to get the bodyguards to track me down.” She moved over to the chair in front of his desk and sat down.
