H
e was crying as he watched his daughter in pain. “Isn’t there something you can give her for the pain?” William asked, and Henry was wondering the same thing.

Yes, after I apply the cream to the burns,” the doctor said, and he moved to put a little of the light blue cream on Jamie’s face.

She closed her eyes and more
tears fell on to her cheeks.

I need my bag, please.” The doctor looked up at William and he nodded.

Ryan, grab it,” William said without looking away from his daughter. Within a minute a black leather bag was placed on the table next to Jamie.

The doctor reached inside and pulled out a syringe with some clea
r liquid. He popped off the top and shoved the tip of the needle into the bend of her arm. Jamie moaned as the medicine was being pushed into her, and she slowly opened her eyes. “She needs to be watched for the next couple of hours to make sure the cream is working, and the Opana I just gave her is working. I gave her enough so that she shouldn’t be in pain for the next five to eight hours. I will leave some pills if she needs them. You may get off her now.” The doctor handed William a pill bottle, and he nodded. Henry got off of Jamie, and looked down at her. Her hands were covered in the light Blue cream, and the doctor started wrapping them in white gauze.

Sir I can watch her down in my room,” Cynthia said and touched the top of Jamie’s head. “I know what to watch for,” she said and turned her eyes to William.

He sighed and dropped his head.
“Okay, Henry will help you in any way you need.”

Henry looked back at the older woman, she smiled at him.
“Will you carry her down to the basement for me? I will be down shortly. You’ll need to stay with her until I can get down there. I don’t think she should be alone right now,” Cynthia said as she crossed the room to William and held out her hand. “I will need those pills just in case. I know you will be busy finding out who tried to kill her. Let me worry abo S mehanut her,” she said, and he closed his eyes.

Before Henry knew Jamie
, he would have used her against her father; he knew hurting her would hurt William the most. Now, as he looked at her, broken and bleeding on the table, he wanted to take her place. His chest ached when he thought of what could have happened.

William handed Cynthia the orange pill bottle.
“Will you let me know how she’s doing?”

She nodded.
“Of course I will. Henry, will you carry her to the basement and lay her on my bed?”

William
kissed Jamie’s forehead, as Henry nodded at her question.

I love you, my sweet angel,” William said.

He
knew the pain William was feeling, because he was feeling it too.

Henry you will do what Cynthia asks of you. No matter what, Jamie comes first. Do you understand?” he asked, and Henry didn’t have to even think about it.

Jamie would always come first for him, no matter what.
“Yes, sir,” he said and reached down to take his beautiful sweetheart in his arms. She felt light, and when she buried her face into his chest, his heart stopped. Every eye was on him, and her.

She is pretty out of it right now,” the doctor said, as he grabbed his bag, and Henry nodded, remembering how she’d fallen asleep on his chest.

He
deliberately took his time as he walked out of the room with her in his arms and toward the kitchen then the basement. When he passed the area where the bomb went off he was surprised that people were already cleaning it up. Henry turned around so he could push the door open with is back, and walked into the kitchen.

He slowly walked down the stairs, when he was in the basement he took a deep breath and saw a bedroom of
f to the right. He walked in and gently laid Jamie down. She opened her green eyes and smiled up at him.

You are so freaking beautiful, but I think I like you better with black eyeliner and piercings,” she said and giggled.

H
e shook his head and moved her long red hair out of her face. “Ahh, sweetheart, that is where you are wrong, I’m not the beautiful one, you are.” He tried to give her a smile and hoped he was.

I love you, Henry,” she whispered and her eyes fluttered closed.

H
e froze. She loved him, and he wondered if that was the drugs talking or her. He wasn’t sure what he hoped for.

Jamie opened her eyes in darkness, and she sat up. That was when she noticed that her whole body was throbbing in pain, and she remembered what happened. She was blown up S wa up. Th by a package, and then she remembered Doctor Martin talking about a cream that he’d made. She lifted her right hand and it was covered in gauze, all she could see was her fingertips; they had a strange light blue tint to them. Jamie inched her way up slowly, and groaned. Her back hurt, but to her astonishment her hands didn’t.

You know you should still be lying down,” Cynthia said as she came closer to Jamie with a glass of water.

The last thing I remember was Doctor Martin putting some stuff on me, it felt like it was burning me again,” Jamie said, and shook her head. She wanted to get the memory out of her mind, she couldn’t believe someone had sent her a bomb.

The cream seems to be working, your face looks better. Do you want another painkiller?” Cynthia handed her a cold glass of water and she took a drink.

Jamie shook her head.
“No, not right now.” She looked around the room and saw an outline of someone slumped in a chair by the door.

He didn’t want to leave your side.” Jamie looked back at Cynthia. “Don’t worry I told your father I needed him.” She still didn’t know if he had any part in the attack against her.

How long have I been out?” she asked. The last thing she recalled was late morning.

You’ve been out for six hours,” she said and smiled at her.

Jamie?” Henry said and sat up straighter.

I will be in the living room,” Cynthia said and walked out of her bedroom leaving Henry and Jamie alone.

She took her first
deep breath and her chest hurt. He got up and came to her. Henry didn’t say anything he just stared at her; she wanted him to touch her, but she needed to know if he had anything to do with what happened. “Henry do you know what happened?” she couldn’t bring herself to look at him.

You think I would try to kill you?”

S
he looked back up at him, he’d sounded defeated. His chocolate brown hair was still pulled back, revealing his handsome square face and well define cheek bones. His normal light blue eyes seemed a little darker, and a five-a-clock shadow sprinkled his jaw and chin.

Jamie knew in he
r heart he would never hurt her and she hoped she was right. “I don’t know.” Something she couldn’t recognize flashed in his eyes and he turned toward the door. “Henry, wait, please.” He didn’t listen, and she jumped out of bed, falling to her knees. She cried out in pain.

Damn it Jamie, your hands are recovered, but your body still hit a wall.” He was there and lifting her into his arms. Henry gently laid her back in the bed, but before he could walk away again she grabbed his wrist.

I don’t think you would have blown me up, but I was wondering if the rebels did. You sa Ss dfonw what it did to my father.” She remembered seeing her father crying for her, and taking her into his arms.

Henry closed his eyes, and dropped his head.
“I don’t know anything, I’ve been here the whole time with you.” He opened his eyes and brought his hand to her face. She leaned into his touch. “Jamie, I have never cared for someone like I care about you. When I saw the bomb go off, I felt my heart being blown up with you. I know you want me to leave it alone and let your father be the evil one, but I won’t stand here and watch the girl I love get hurt when I can do something.”

She gasped. H
e’d just said he loved her and his eyes widened as he realized what he’d said. Jamie gradually brought her bandaged hand to his cheek. “You just said you loved me.” She smiled up at him, and he shook his head.

A playful smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
“You said it first, when you were drugged up.” Henry moved his face to the side and kissed her bandaged hand. “I know it’s crazy because we haven’t known each other that long, but it feels like I have known you my whole like and I know I don’t want to be without you. Romeo and Juliet were younger than us when they fell in love.” He grinned at her, and she laughed.

S
he didn’t want what they had to be compared to a catastrophic love story. “You can’t compare what we have to Romeo and Juliet,” she said and he laughed.

Your right that was bad.” He leaned his forehead on hers, and kissed her nose. “I will find out who hurt you,” he said and she didn’t want him to take revenge out on whoever had done it.

Jamie closed her eyes.
“Please don’t, I don’t want you to do that. Just be my sweet Henry who stole my heart,” she said and opened her eyes; he was smiling at her.

I don’t like it, but I won’t do anything.” He lightly touched his lips to hers, and she wanted more, but knew that her father or anyone else could walk in. “I want to fall asleep with your head on my chest again,” he whispered, and it was her turn to smile. She knew that getting out of the house would be impossible, but she would try, for him.

I will try to sneak out, but I don’t know if I can. I am pretty sure my father will keep a personal guard on me until I die.” Henry flinched and she felt bad, she had almost died today. “I’m sorry, bad choice of words.”

He removed his hand from her face and moved away from her; she missed his touch right away.
“I never want to think about that, and this was what I wanted to talk about.” He turned to face her, and she was terrified what he was about to say. “I don’t think we should be together. I know your father wouldn’t hurt you for falling in love with me, but some might want to use you as an example.”

Jamie’s heart fell, a moment ago he
’d said she was the girl he loved, now he wanted to break up with her. She shook her head, and stood up on shaky legs. Her whole body hurt, but she didn’t care she needed to be next to him. “Henry it’s too late, I love you and that is the greatest crime to break. I don’t care what happens to me as long as I have you.” She stopped in front Sppeh righ of him and wrapped her arms around his waist.

Henry didn’t look down at her he stared straight ahead, and she moved to lay her head on his warm large chest.
“I couldn’t live with myself if anything happened to you,” he said a minute later, and she held him tighter; slowly he wrapped her in his embrace. “I love you Jamie, and it scares me to death. I know I shouldn’t love you, you are too good for me.”

She shook her head again
st his chest and moved to look up at him. “That is where you are wrong.
You
are the one that is too good for me. I don’t deserve you, but I’m happy to take what I can get.” Henry grinned down at her, and held her close to him.

Sweetheart, I need to get home or your father will think something is going on. I should have left thirty minutes ago. Mrs. Hudson has covered for me long enough, but I will see you tomorrow.” Deliberately his lips came closer to Jamie’s, she wanted to scream at him to kiss her, but he took his time. As soon as his lips touched hers she sighed into his sweet warm kiss. Her heart knew that his lips were the last kiss she’d ever have, he was her happy ever after now, and she would have to fight to keep it. She moved her arms up and wrapped them around his neck, and he held her closer to him. A knock at the door had him ripping his scorching mouth away from hers.
