“That’s all we want, too, Kari,” said Adison.

The very loud voice in her head reminded her that she hadn’t yet told them about Donnie or the upcoming trial, but she told it to go fuck itself. “Am I your sub then? What are we to each other?”

“Do you need a label?” asked Adison.

“Well, yes. Having it gives my life structure. It lets me know who’s in control. I want that. I want to know where I fit.”

The two exchanged a glance.

“Don’t misunderstand me. I don’t expect you two to take over this.” She waved a hand toward the center of her shop. “I’m not asking you to make business decisions for me or tell me how to run this shop. But I miss…I miss having a Dom. I miss being submissive to someone. And I certainly think you know by now that I crave you both being in control in the bedroom.”

“Well, okay then,” said Noah. “There’s no reason you can’t have two Doms, is there?’

She shook her head. “No. None that I know of anyway.”

“Then consider us your Doms,” said Adison. He gave her a grin that sent a rush of wetness to her panties. “Now pick up that pizza, slave, and eat it, because your Doms are freaking hungry and want to finish theirs.”

Kari laughed as she looked from one man to the other. She picked up her pizza and began to eat again. As she watched the easy way Adison ate and talked to Noah, she realized she still loved him. Perhaps she always had? But there was no doubt about it now. She had fallen in love with Adison Kincaid all over again.

She put down her pizza and walked over to adjust something on a shelf that was fine just the way it was so they wouldn’t see the look on her face, or notice her hands trembling.

Out of the corner of her eye, she watched Noah, and the easy way he moved and joked with Adison. Kari couldn’t think of two men in Racy more unlikely to have become friends. He’d done all this for her, so that he could have her, and be with her. He’d made this incredible effort so that she would be happy.

Was it possible to fall in love with two men? Possible, yes. Practical, hell no. But the realization that she was falling in love with Noah as well hit her like a blast of icy air. She trembled again, hoping they wouldn’t notice.
Holy shit.
They hadn’t said anything about love, and she didn’t expect them to.

Who fell in love with two men? What the hell was she going to do now?

Chapter Eighteen

Adison whistled as Kari came down the stairs. He and Noah were taking her to a holiday concert in Chicago. Adison had arranged the trip earlier in the week, when the first snow had fallen in Racy, less than one month before Christmas, and Kari had begun to remark how much she missed New York this time of year. She’d told Noah and Adison about the tree in Rockefeller Center, FAO Schwartz, Macy’s Santaland, and the way all the trees were lit with white lights along every street.

“They have the decorations up downtown. We could go and see them if you want.”

Kari had given Adison a droll look and tried to explain how it wasn’t even close to the same thing. Adison had gone online that night and scored great seats at a Chicago Symphony Orchestra concert. Since the date of the concert was two and a half weeks before Christmas, Adison had also suggested the three stay overnight and do some shopping.

Kari had been so thrilled when he told her that, she’d smiled for an hour. Now, as she waltzed down the stairs in a stunning black dress with full skirt, strappy pumps, and a faux fur jacket, Adison could hardly catch his breath. He’d never seen her look so beautiful.

“Wow.” That was all Noah could seem to say. He said it several times before they left the shop, and he said from the backseat of Adison’s car a couple of times as they drove up Interstate 65 toward Chicago.

He said it again as the three walked to their seats, and Adison was getting a bit tired of it by then, but he didn’t want anything to ruin this night. Kari was so excited to be at the concert that seeing her face light up was worth putting up with Noah’s limited vocabulary.

She thanked him and Noah over and over at intermission, on the way to the hotel, and several times as they each made love to her. Later that night, Adison woke up to use the bathroom, and when he came out Kari was awake too. After she went to the bathroom, Adison took her hand and led her to the sofa. He pulled aside the room darkening shades just enough so she could peek out, and Kari gasped at the snowfall.

“Oh, Adison…it’s so beautiful. I’ve always loved snow.”

“I know. I remember that.”

She gazed at him in confusion. “You do? Really?”

“Sure. We came out of school one day—I think it was our junior year—and it was snowing. You and your friends were squealing in delight, trying to catch snowflakes on your tongue. I remember thinking how pretty your hair looked in the snow, like it was covered in diamonds.”

Kari stared at him for a long time, and Adison began to wonder if he shouldn’t have kept his big mouth shut. He couldn’t read her expression. It was a cross between awe and something he couldn’t identify.

She glanced toward the bed where Noah was sound asleep, then crawled into Adison’s lap. She kissed him deeply, not making a sound. There was nothing Adison could do except kiss her back. His dick was rock hard, and the fact she wrapped her hand around it didn’t help matters any.

Adison cupped her breasts, and when she released his mouth, he nuzzled her neck. Guilt tried to push its way in, but then he remembered she’d spent the night with Noah before the three of them went to Maddox’s house, and he shook away that emotion. He deserved some time with Kari alone, even if it was in a hotel, a few feet away from an unsuspecting Noah.

Adison turned her around so that her back faced him, and he kneaded her breasts, teasing the nipples the way he knew she liked it. She spread her legs so that her thighs were draped over his, and when she reached between her legs to stroke her pussy, he nearly groaned. He still could hardly believe how sexy and passionate she was. She was more than a dream come true. She was every fantasy he’d ever had, rolled into one beautiful woman.

He moved one hand over hers, rubbing along with her. Tiny whimpering noises filled the space, and he could only imagine how difficult it was for her to keep so quiet. Kari liked to make a lot of noise, and that excited Adison to no end. But what they were doing right now was incredibly sexy and daring, and his arousal built to crazy heights.

Kari turned in his lap and wrapped her arms and legs around him. He kissed her again, holding her tightly. As gently as he could, he turned them around so she fell back against the sofa and he was on top of her. As he slid into her wet, waiting pussy, he bit back a loud groan. Kari whispered his name, and he knew it was killing her not to moan or cry out.

He fucked her slowly, which only prolonged the torture for both of them, but it was the only way to keep from losing control and start screaming. When she came, soft sighs and moans escaped her throat, and he held her close, stroking her hair and face.

He came shortly afterwards, and they held each other for long, luscious moments. “Do you need to get up?” he whispered.

“I don’t want to. I just want to stay here with you forever.”

His dick was getting hard again. Noah stirred in his sleep and Adison held his breath. He wanted to fuck Kari again, but not here on the sofa. “Come with me,” he whispered. He took her hand and led her into the bathroom, then closed the door.

“What if Noah wakes up?”

“Then I guess my grand scheme to have bathroom sex with you will be foiled.”

She giggled softly as he waggled his eyebrows at her. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her rough and deep, wondering if he’d ever get tired of the taste of her mouth or the feel of her arms around him. He hoped not. He lifted her in his arms and walked toward the countertop.

Placing her gently on it, he helped her back up against the wall. The only light came from a small nightlight in a socket next to the mirror. It cast a soft glow on her face and hair, and Adison was struck once again by just how beautiful she was.

“I’ve always wanted to do this,” she said.

“I’m shocked you haven’t yet.” He scooted her hips forward and she lay back, bracing her hands on the counter. Adison knelt and licked her pussy in long, slow strokes, tasting her juices and his own cum. It excited him more than he would have believed possible.

Kari whimpered and sighed, and he was so aroused at that point he didn’t care if Noah woke up and joined them. He let images of both of them fucking Kari against the wall, on the floor, and bent over this countertop fill his head, until he couldn’t take it any longer.

He stood up and pulled her hips closer, then plunged his dick into her hot, wet pussy. This time he fucked her hard and fast, and judging by her cries, she was enjoying it. She clung to his forearms, and her thighs wrapped around him felt like steel bands.

“Oh God…Adison…fuck me. Fuck me hard.”

He didn’t have to be asked twice. He pulled out and told her to get off the counter and turn around. When she did, he bent her over and held her down with one hand. She lifted her hips high so that her lovely ass was in the air, and Adison thought he’d lose his mind with need at the sight of it.

He glanced around the room and spotted her hairbrush. It would have to do. Picking it up, he smacked each cheek several times with it. After her first surprised moan, she whimpered and sighed in the way that told him she was enjoying it. He’d never known a woman who enjoyed getting paddled as much as she did. And Adison was more than happy to give Kari what she wanted.

But he couldn’t take much more. He had to be inside her again. He tossed the hairbrush onto the counter and massaged her cheeks, nuzzling her neck as he did so. “Kari…I can’t get enough of you.” He reached under and played with her breasts until his dick was throbbing and she begged him in hushed tones to fuck her.

As he slid his dick into her pussy from behind, her orgasm started. He held her down and pumped as hard and fast as he could, wanting to prolong it for her, but he couldn’t contain his own climax for much longer. When he finally came, he had to suck in deep breaths to keep from passing out. This woman excited him beyond his own capabilities, and he loved it.

When their contractions finally stopped, Adison helped her stand up and turned her around. He kissed her tenderly, and then released her mouth to gaze into her beautiful face. When he looked into her eyes again, he couldn’t deny his feelings any longer. He was in love with Kari Marie Tye all over again. If he were being honest, he’d never stopped loving her. No woman had ever come close to touching his heart the way she had, and he knew with absolutely certainty that no woman ever would.

If only the nagging thought that almost constantly haunted his dreams were answered, everything would be perfect. Why wouldn’t she tell them why she and Alexa had left New York? Adison couldn’t help but believe by now that Kari had either suffered some tragedy in her life or she was in danger. Either way, he wanted to know about it. He wanted to protect her and help her move past it. He loved her, and he would do anything to keep her from harm.

* * * *

Kari woke up Monday morning, back in her own bed in Racy, and fumbled for her cell, dropping it twice before she was able to answer the call. Her heart raced as she noted the New York number. Who was calling her from the city so early in the morning?

“Kari, it’s Kacee Cabot.”

The ADA. Why was the ADA calling? Had the trial date been moved up?

“Are you awake?”

Kari sat up. “I am now.”

“Sorry, but I didn’t want you to hear this on the news before I had the chance to tell you.”

“What happened?” Kari had to fight to hang on to the phone because it started to slip from her damp fingers.

“Donnie McCoy’s attorney filed a motion, the judge ordered a psych evaluation, and Donnie was declared not competent to stand trial.”

“So what does that mean? He goes free?” Kari jumped out of bed, every nerve ending on fire. This couldn’t be happening.

“No, no. He’ll be committed to a psychiatric facility. He’s not free.”

“But he’s not going to jail.”

“Not now. When and if he’s deemed competent to stand trial, there will be one.”

“But he’ll just get off on being mentally ill.”

“That will be for a jury to decide.”

“That’s not right. I watched him rape and shoot Tangie Collier. He told the police he raped and killed other women.”

“And unfortunately we have no evidence to charge him with the other rapes or murders. He won’t give us names or any details.”

“But you have evidence of
this
crime.”

“I’m not happy about this either, but my hands are tied here, Kari.”

“Kacee, I know you’re bound by the law, but this sucks. When will the trial be rescheduled?”

“There’s no way to tell. I’ll call you when I hear. Kari, the important thing is that this is over for now, and you’re safe.”

Was she? The conversation she’d had with Alexa over a month ago came back to her. Should she ask Kacee again if they knew anything more about the person who’d broken into her and Alexa’s apartment? No. She would have said something if she had anything to say.

After she disconnected the call, Kari hugged her knees, unable to stop shaking. Donnie McCoy was going to a psych facility. Not exactly jail, but he wouldn’t be free. Now she could tell Adison and Noah why she’d left New York. They’d both asked about it at least once a week. But she’d clear it with Alexa first because there was still the issue of Brad to deal with, and she wasn’t going to say anything about that, even to Adison or Noah.

Alexa wasn’t awake yet, and Kari needed to clear her head, so she drove into town and parked her car to walk along the streets. When would it actually hit her that she was free? She kept saying it in her head, like a mantra, but it still hadn’t sunk in.

She counted fourteen businesses that had put her flyers in their windows. In a town this size, Kari considered that phenomenal. Cathie had come through. Not only had she called Kari the Monday after Thanksgiving to let her know the business cards and flyers were done, but she’d offered to pass them around the local shops downtown.
