“Such a naughty girl.”

He continued to work the vibes, the orgasm feeling like tiny electrical shocks to every inch of her skin. She bucked and pulled against the ties, but she was restrained perfectly, and Ronan kept the stimulation going until she was replete and finally lay limp on the table, not able to move any part of her body, barely coherent at all.

She maintained a sort of vague awareness of him untying her and scooping her into his arms. She sort of noticed he was moving with her. She thought she recognized her bed when he laid her on it, but her brain cells were blown. Her body was barely responding to her cues, and all she wanted to do was sleep.

He removed the blindfold and began massaging her wrists and ankles where she had been tied. She started shaking as if freezing. He pulled the blankets over her and snuggled into her, as if wrapping her inside his body. He kissed her head and stroked her hair and spoke softly into her ear.

“You were perfection, minx.”

She was confused and started to get a bit scared.

“Ronan, I feel really weird.”

He pulled her tighter to him and stroked her back gently.

“You went pretty far under, love. It’ll be okay, just hold onto me. Know that I’ve got you and listen to my voice. Can you do that?”

She nodded, but tears formed in her eyes and started to run down her cheeks, and she had no idea really as to why.

It wasn’t a bad feeling, it was just so intense. The things he made her feel were unlike anything she’d ever felt in any area of her life, and she was desperately trying to make sense of it, but her mind was too fuzzy.

“Shh. Don’t fight it, Destiny. Just lie here and let me take care of you.”

He tipped her chin up and kissed her softly. She melted into him. Everything she was feeling was too strong to fight anyway, so she stopped trying and fell into Ronan, physically and emotionally, and trusted him to take care of her. It was such a surreal thing to give herself that completely to someone. She’d never in her life known anyone she could trust this way before.

Eventually, she warmed. Her body stopped shaking.

“You did so good, minx. You were a very
good
little slut, and you pleased me profoundly.” He stroked her hair back from her face and held her gaze with such tenderness.

“It seems a little crazy to feel so much for someone I don’t even really know. To trust someone this much.” She really was confused, but lethargy was seeping in, so there was going to be no figuring it out.

“Unless you’ve been here and experienced it, there really is no way to understand it. It does sound crazy to the rest of the world, but for those of us who have experienced it, it becomes a necessary part of who we are. This doesn’t rule my life, but being like this with someone completes me in a way nothing else does.”

His words rolled over her. She wasn’t sure how much she was really able to take in.

“So tired.” Her eyes closed. She pushed them back open.

“Sleep, minx. It’s what you need right now.” He kissed her head.

“You’ll stay?” She suddenly wished he’d stay forever, just exactly as he was right then.

“I won’t leave you.”

She sank into his arms, unable to fight off sleep any longer. In her last moments of consciousness, she felt him kiss her head once more and whisper, “Sleep well, my love.”

She took that memory with her into sleep, and though she knew when she woke things would be different than they were now, she prayed she would never forget this night. She’d never felt so close to another human being in all her life. There were no barriers between them, no expectations or holding back. Everything she was had been laid out bare for him to take, and he had accepted all she was and gave her everything in return. It was perfection plain and simple, and she couldn’t wait to experience it again.

Chapter Twelve

As Destiny rounded the corner and took in the landscape before her, she had very serious second thoughts about her mission. After all, she could see her kids at dinner, at least in theory. Although, Max had been gone a lot lately, and Austin seemed to always be working late with Ronan. He was really taking to construction, and she couldn’t help but beam with pride every time Ronan told her that.

She needed to touch base with Max, though, before his trip this weekend. He was going on his first ocean dive in his quest for a C-card, his diving certification. She was so proud of him she could burst, but as the pool came into view and she took in the other inhabitants, she wondered if this had been such a great idea after all.

There were four pools at the resort, but they only had the time and budget to refurbish two so far. It was richly satisfying to see the area in use after all their hard work. Red brick pavers surrounded an octagon-shaped pool that reflected the shape of the two story building around it. Three large planters spilled over with bougainvillea, palms, and jasmine which perfumed the air, mixing with the expected scent of the chlorine. And the patio furniture she’d selected looked beautiful in the setting. Loungers lined two sides of the pool, and on both ends were tables and chairs with umbrellas for shade. Each was set in such a way to appear random, but in truth placement had been very carefully considered and argued, but it all came together perfectly.

Alongside a dozen or so hotel guests in and around the pool, her sister was there, stretched out in a lounge chair, three of Ronan’s men fawning over her from the chairs surrounding her. At the table with Austin was Mrs. Murphy, who Destiny had been so lucky to avoid for nearly four whole days now. Nervously tapping the sunglasses she held in her hand, she gritted her teeth and continued on. She’d go through the fires of hell for her boys, and while this was close, she’d manage.

“Abby, aren’t you supposed to be working at something?”

She couldn’t resist badgering her little sister just a bit. Although she regretted it from the second the words started to fall from her mouth because all it did was invite her sister to speak.

“I
am
working. I work every day, Destiny!”

She was getting
the look
from the three men with Abby. She rolled her eyes.

“I see.”

She turned to walk away, only to have her sister yell after her. “I told mom how great it was here and now she’s thinking of visiting!”

Destiny tripped, caught her balance and froze. She drew a breath. She pasted a smile across her face and turned slowly in the direction of her sister.

“That would be lovely. It’s a good thing you have a room with double beds, because I don’t have any spares right now.”

Abby’s mouth dropped open, but Destiny turned and continued to Austin. She could have spared a room for her mother, but forcing them to share just seemed like such sweet justice.

“Hey, babe.” She bent down and dropped a kiss to the top of Austin’s head.

“Finally, she takes my advice!” Mrs. Murphy threw her hands in the air and slapped them down on her lap. “Now that dress catches the eye!”

Destiny cringed as she looked down at herself. It was a fairly simple halter-style sundress, although, she supposed it showed a bit more cleavage than she usually wore. Maybe it was the large red polka dots all over it that she was referring to, though. The reason she chose that particular dress had nothing to do with the amount of cleavage made visible by it, but because it went so perfectly with her new shoes.
Those
she loved! Red with four-inch heels, and little straps that crossed her toes, but her favorite part was the satin ribbon that tied around her ankle. She felt like a present waiting to be unwrapped, and it reminded her of all the times Ronan tied her. It was rapidly becoming one of her most favorite pastimes.

“Um, thank you.” She swallowed and looked around the pool area, then directed her next words back to Austin. “Where’s your brother?”

“Went back to the room to get his phone. I think he’s got a girlfriend.”

A girlfriend?

“Well good! He’s a good-looking boy, he should have a girlfriend,” Mrs. Murphy chimed in supportively.

“Thank you, Mrs. Murphy.”

“And what about you and that good-looking man who always wears those tight T-shirts?” She pushed her glasses farther up her nose and leaned in close as if she didn’t want to miss a single detail.

Destiny tripped over her syllables, and babbled a string of incoherent words.

“That’s what I thought.” She smiled and sat back in her chair. The table umbrella was set so that she essentially sank into the shadows which seemed entirely fitting in that moment.

“You’re dating Ronan? That’s awesome!” Austin looked up at her over his shoulder.

Destiny knew her face was as red as her polka dots and wished there was some place to hide.

“Honey, I’m not dating him. I’m…”

Good God, what was she supposed to say? She couldn’t tell her fourteen-year-old son that his mother was having a purely sexual relationship with a man like a common tramp, and she certainly couldn’t say,
Oh I’m not dating him, just letting him tie me up every night and fuck me senseless
.

“We’re…” She placed her sunglasses on her eyes. “You know, I’ll see your brother at dinner. Have a fun day.”

She was halfway across the pool deck before she took another breath.

“Destiny, Mom can’t possibly share my room!” Abby yelled as Destiny walked near.

Destiny merely waved at her as she kept going. She had so many balls to keep in the air, but she was doing okay overall. Right now she started to shift her thoughts back to the afternoon. They had seventy-three check-ins, the most they’d had in one day. This left her feeling both nervous and excited. She and Aiden decided on a designer, and they had agreed to a
modest
overhaul of the fabrics and furnishings. Her debt kept mounting, but Aiden kept assuring her that it would only be that way for so long, and then she’d start to see the income balance out her expenditures.

She sure the hell hoped he was right.

“How adventurous are you?”

She jumped as she hadn’t even seen Ronan coming up beside her, but he had matched her pace and was right in step as if they’d been walking together all along.

“Uh…I bought this place.” That was pretty damn adventurous.

“You did indeed.”

“I’ve let you do all manner of wicked things to my personhood,
that’s
pretty damn adventurous!”

He took ahold of both her arms, stopping her progression across the courtyard to the lobby.

“I want to take you out tonight.” Something in his eyes told her he wasn’t talking dinner and a movie.

“You spend way too much time being far too serious, you know that right?” That statement from anyone else would have annoyed the hell out of her, but on Ronan’s lips, it wasn’t chastisement or mocking. He was looking out for her, and it was a strange but welcome sensation.

She jumped as his strong arms circled her from behind, but instantly relaxed into them. Then Mrs. Murphy sprung to mind, and she pulled away. Somehow that woman seemed to have eyes everywhere, and the fact she’d just seen her at the pool meant nothing. She looked around the courtyard area to see if anyone had seen them, but other than a few families waiting for the amusement park shuttles, there was no one around.

“Ashamed of me?” He clutched a hand over his heart. “I’m devastated.”

She sighed. She had a headache, and though Ronan had become a very wonderful part of her nights, she didn’t really want anyone to know about them. What they were doing was sharing a bed, fucking. It was just two bodies pleasuring one another, which didn’t require any grand declaration.

“I’m not
ashamed
. I just don’t need anyone knowing my personal business.”

Especially my nosy sister.

“Sure.”

He seemed disappointed, which was crazy. Why would he care? She thought the anonymity would suit him just as well as it did her. She decided the best course of action was to change subjects.

“So, what were you saying about tonight?”

His gaze intensified. Her breath caught at the sight of it.

“I want to take you to a party, but there’s a catch.”

She folded her arms across her chest and narrowed her eyes at him.

“Why is there always a catch with you?”

He smiled broadly and splayed his arms out wide.

“It’s part of my charm, darlin’.”

She couldn’t help herself, she laughed. Feeling more relaxed, she softened, or maybe it was surrender, but she just didn’t like to think of it that way sometimes.

“So, what’s the catch then?”

He stepped in close, wrapping his arm around her and placing the flat of his palm on her exposed back. He pressed his lips against her ear.

“I’m going to send you a box. You wear everything I put in it, and nothing I don’t.”

Something about the sultry words sent a shiver down her spine and tingles skating across her skin. She momentarily lost her ability to speak.
