(9th cent. CE). Digambara Jain writer. His major work was the Mah pur a (The Great Pur a ), an attempt at a universal history—Jinasena finished only the first part; it was completed by his pupils. The work gives an account of Mah v ra , but it serves also as a guide to kings. It also lays out the appropriate behaviours for laypeople, and as such it remains in use to the present day.
