Hannah leaned over and clapped a hand over her mouth. “What’s this?” She picked up the ring.
It was custom made, for sure. The platinum ring was designed to look like a Flemish knot. Where the ropes crossed, there was a diamond. A big, serious, sparkling diamond.
Gavin looked at her seriously. “Hannah, you remember what I told you about the Flemish knot? The beauty is that it can be used again and again. It doesn’t have to be cut out. You don’t have to start over. You can simply fix the positioning, fix the location, and it holds, Hannah. Man, do these knots hold.”
He took the ring from her and slid it onto her finger. It fit perfectly. It looked stunning. Hannah’s eyes misted over once more.
“Will you say it, Hannah?” He looked at her, his face full of hope and love.
“You only have to ask.” She stared at him, then the ring, then him.
“Please marry me?” He kissed her hand.
It was barely a question, almost an order, and wholly Gavin. “Okay, but only because you asked so nicely.”
Grabbing her head, he crushed his lips to hers. “I mean it, Hannah. I’m marrying you. You’re stuck with me forever.”
Giggling, she muttered, “I suppose anything less would break some common courtesy.”
“Worse,” he murmured against her neck. “It would break our terms of service.”
They burst out laughing and collapsed in each other’s arms. They lay together in silence.
“You should rest,” Gavin urged. “It’s nearly dawn.”
Hannah shook her head. “There’s no way I can fall asleep now.” She sighed blissfully. “I’ll be paying for this later, but for now I’m wide awake.”
“I’ve got just the thing.” Gavin hopped out of bed, grabbed for his shorts, and pulled them up over his hips while she watched admiringly. Reaching for her, he yanked her off the bed. “Get dressed. Come topside with me.” He tossed her his shirt. “Let’s watch the sunrise.”
“Yes.” Hannah nodded. She knew she had to be glowing as she followed Gavin up the ladder.
Opening the cooler, he pulled out a bottle of wine and began to open it. The moment Hannah saw it, she laughed. Second later, he had filled two flutes and settled in beside her. “Just in time.” He nodded toward the horizon where the sky had turned lovely shades of pink and orange as the glowing orb peeked up over the ocean.
“Well, I guess I don’t need to ask the occasion.” She held her glass and leaned her head against his shoulder. “You went with a bubbly, I see.”
“Shall be toast the start of our life together?” Gavin smiled at her.
“Absolutely.” After the ritualistic clink and drink, Hannah inhaled the salty air. “It’s so perfect. It’s like nothing could possibly ruin the moment.”
Gavin slapped his forehead and scrunched his eyes closed.
“What?” She chuckled at his antics.
“I’m just waiting for our moment to be ruined.” He leaned over and eyed the v-berth and the sleeping twins.
Crossing her arms as though feeling vindicated, Hannah raised an eyebrow. “See?”
Then her phone rang. “And there it is.” He raised his brow, mimicking her.
“Oh, look,” she said as she studied the screen. “It’s Rick.”
“Nothing is going to ruin this moment. I’ve got this,” Gavin said smoothly. He took her phone and answered. “Rick, she can’t come work for you. Out unconventional living situation is getting a little more conventional. Hannah has agreed to marry me.” Then without waiting for a response, he hung up. “
There
.”
“Nope.” Hannah opened her arms and hugged him close. “
Here.
Living in the moment, together, always.”

about emma nichols
What made her decide to be an erotica author?
Simple.
How else was she going to parlay her two favorite past times into a career?
Emma is single and loving it. Like her first character, Alysin, Sin for short, she doesn't believe in settling or in settling down. She loves to indulge in her passions whenever the mood strikes and enjoys keeping all of life's cliché moments spicy.
Known for her sense of humor, Emma surrounds herself with friends whose antics often become the source of book fodder. Her ideal situation would be to explore the Caribbean while writing. She pursues that dream daily.
