Chapter 5

Jacob

After spending some nights with Madison
at the Hilton, we fall into an easy routine that satisfies us both. Yet, I keep thinking about Katherine and feel guilty with the way I’m treating Madison. But being the man that I am, I can’t break it off with her. She satisfies me sexually and gives me what I need, for now. She comes over every night and we have dinner. While I get some work done on my laptop, she lies on the couch while watching television. We fuck. She leaves. This is the routine for the next weeks.

“Jacob can we go out tonight please?”
Madison pleads.

Instead of eating in tonight, we both decide to have dinner at
Tavern Seven.
I gather my wallet and cell phone, “Okay come on.”

Anxiously waiting, she takes my head and pulls me to the elevator. Madison is
changing; she’s not the same woman. I look at her admiring her manicured nails and notice her face looks firmer. Before she did not care too much of her appearance but now she takes her time getting ready and obsesses over the way she looks.

“Ugh, Jacob.”
I look over to her with annoyance. “Look at my nails! She messed them up. Seriously, do you know how hard it is to find good freaking service?”

I roll my eyes and ignore her. What the fuck did I get myself into?

“What’s wrong,” she asks while touching my chest.

I stop her and turn my back, “Nothing.”

The elevator doors open and I walk out without taking her hand. We walk outside in the Columbia night air. It feels nice to be outside. I’ve been working countless hours and appreciate being able to breathe in the calm night air. Gary comes out of the SUV and begins to open the door. “It is fine Gary. We’ll walk.”

Madison stops walking and whines.
“Um Jacob?” I look at her as she’s pointing to her shoes.  “I’m wearing
Gucci
and
these heels
are not made for walking!”

I shrug.
“And?” The restaurant is not a far walk so I don’t know why she’s complaining. As soon as I hear her whining to Gary, I start walking. “Fucking brat,” I mutter. This is getting annoying and I’m getting annoyed. Gary drives pass me and I see Madison waving her arms in the air. God. Is she serious? I make it to the restaurant and see Gary opening the door for her. Madison walks out with her head down. Serves you right. I open the door for her and follow inside.

The hostess guides us to my usual table. The lighting is dim and there are a few people eating tonight but it’s not too busy. Each table has a candle and a rose as the center piece. “Your server will be with
you in a minute sir.” I see her eyeing me. Damn. This hostess looks hot too. She’s wearing tight black skirt that hits the top of her knees. Her white button down shirt is tucked into her skirt and flaunts her lovely little body.

“Thank you darling.” I wink at her. I see her blushing and she gives me a smile.

When she walks away, Madison lets out a sigh. I don’t pay attention to her little tantrum. Instead, I look through the menu and figure out what to order for dinner. A few minutes later, the hostess comes back. “I apologize but it looks like we are short a waitress tonight so I’ll be taking care of you. My name’s Keira, what can I get for you tonight sir?”

“A glass of your fines
t scotch. On the rocks. Madison.” I keep my eyes on this hot piece of ass in front of me. She doesn’t look away.

“Um a glass of white wine please?”

“Sure no problem.” She flips her wavy black hair and walks away, adding a little shake to her hips. Damn.

“Jacob how was your day?”

“Fine and yours?”

“It was okay. Thank you for asking.” She flips through the menu, “What are you ordering tonight?”

I scratch my chin. Good question. “The salmon. Yourself?”

“The pear and strawberry salad looks good. What do you think?”

I grunt, “Up to you.”

The hostess comes back and takes our order. She jots down everything and walks away.

We sit there in silence as I watch her play with her fingers. I begin to hate Madison and everything she stands for. I don’t know why I’m here with her. Nothing about her appeals to me anymore.

Our food comes out and we eat in silence. I take a sip of my scotch but Madison doesn’t touch her wine.

“Why aren’t you drinking?”

She looks at her full glass. “Oh I’m just taking it slow tonight.
Headache.”

“I see.”

Madison moves closer to me and rests her hand on my thigh. “I’m full.”

“Alright.
My salmon is quite good. Would you like a piece?”

“No thank you.” She rubs my thigh and I feel my pants getting tighter. I stop eating and get
Keira’s attention. “Please add this to my tab love.”

She
gives me a smile, “Sure no problem, Mr. Greene.” She gathers up some things from the table and walks away.

I look at Madison, “Why are you being bad?”

She kisses my cheek and her lips reach my ear, “Because I can make you feel better than that whore Jacob.” I take her hand and we are about to walk out when she turns the other direction and guides me back to the bathroom. She pushes the door open and shoves my back to the door. “You think I can’t please you Jacob!?” She cries, “I can make you feel so good.” Madison locks the door and before she can do anything, I pick her up by her ass.

“Wrap your legs around me.
Now.” I demand.

“Jacob
take me now. Fuck me hard. I need you so bad.” She whispers in my ear. I carry her to the open stall and shut the door with my foot. I push her up against the wall and quickly unbuckle my pants. “Mmmm I can’t wait to have you inside me,” she purrs seductively in my ear.

“Fuck,” I mutter, “You are so damn sexy.” I get my pants off
and quickly grab a condom from my pocket. I tear the package and slide it on my aching cock. I thrust myself inside her and feel how wet she is, “Always ready for me aren’t you?”

“Oh my god!
Jacob! Fuck. Me. Harder!”

I do what she says and pull her hair. She loudly gasps, “Yeah you like that don’t you?” I thrust faster and harder in her. I grip her hair tighter and hear her moan. Her slick pussy feels good on my cock. I need more of her. I slowly bring her down from off the wall. “Stand up here and put your foot on the seat,” I command her. She does as I told her. I slap her ass hard and before she could say anything, I’m back in her. I grip her ass in my hands and go deeper in her.

“Jacob I’m going to come!”

In s
econds I release myself in her and feel both of our bodies shaking. I let her down and take off the condom. I dispose of it in the trash and readjust my clothes.

Without saying a word, I open the bathroom stall. “Ready?”

Madison looks down as she pulls down her dress and straightens her hair. She starts mumbling under her breath and I can’t seem to make out she’s saying. I slowly creep up to her, “I love you Jacob.” I stop dead in my tracks. I turn back around. I twist my head, over my shoulder but her head is still down.

“Madison. Ready?” Is all I am able to get
out.

She walks towards me and gives me a smile. I unlock the bathroom door and
walk out before her. She catches up to me and loops her arm through mine.

After I drop off Madison, I have Gary drive me to the park. It’s a little past midnight but I need to walk around and clear my mind. This isn’t what I want. I don’t want Madison to be falling in love with me. I hate what I’m doing to her.

It’s a peaceful night. There aren’t any clouds in the sky and there’s a light breeze. The calmness of the night helps me relax and think. I find a bench underneath a tree and take a seat. I become incredibly anxious and think about how I’m going to handle Madison.

In the morning, I get up after another sleepless night up and head to the gym. The gym is a fairly short walk from my loft. I get outside and throw on my sunglasses. I look around and see a few people walking around. It’s a quiet Sunday morning as I make my way to the gym. I walk in and head straight to the treadmill. All the cardio machines are facing the full length mirror. I can watch the world pass me by and let go of my stress at the same time. There are a few people on the machines but the weight area in the corner is fairly empty. I put on my ear buds and start my work out playlist. I set the machine to six point five and start running. As the music blasts in my ears, I boost up the speed and work harder.

Sixty minutes later, I press stop and look at my accomplishment. Eight miles. I get off the machine and take a drink of water from my bottle. I wipe the sweat off my face and shake off my muscles. Damn I feel good. I head towards the weights and get some lifting done.

On my way back home, I notice Madison’s car next to mine in the garage. “Fuck.” I go through the doors and get on the elevator to my loft. With my head down, I try and figure out how to handle her. When I get inside, Madison is standing at my door wearing a black lace teddy and black stiletto heels.
“Ah Madison. What are you doing here?”

She saunters over to me and places her hands on my chest. “I’ve been waiting for you,” she whispers looking deep into my eyes.

I slightly push her away and head to my bedroom. “Madison, give me back my key. You are
not
to come back here do I make myself clear? I’m busy today so you will need to leave.” She hands me her key and pouts her lips.

“But Jacob.”

Not letting her finish I yell, “Madison just get out! I’m not in the mood for you.”

I grab my towel and head to the bathroom without looking back at her.

*****

A few weeks have gone by and I felt guiltier with each day. I couldn’t get out of my head what she said to me. She’s been showing up at my loft without letting me know and sending me pictures of wedding dresses. This was not what I wanted.  I thought I made it clear I don’t want a relationship with her. I’ve told her to stop the nonsense but she laughed it off and told me I would love her the way she loved me. I’ve been staying away from her. Things have gotten to be too much for me to handle.

My phone vibrates. I look at who is texting me before opening the message.
Madison.

Madison: Hey baby. What do you want for dinner tonight? I already have dessert ready.

Me: Madison, I’ll be in meetings all day and am going over to Logan’s for dinner.

Madison: Well can I come?

Me: No.

Madison: Why not?

I sigh in frustration. This isn’t what I need today. Why is she being so needy? She never uses to be this way.

Me: Madison, stop this. I’m going t
o spend time with my family tonight and I rather you not come. Do I make myself clear?

Madison: Yes, sir.

I put my phone away and turn back to my computer. After a few minutes of answering emails, Logan comes into my office and sits down on the chair.

“Logan what is it?”

Logan plays with his tie as he tips his head back. “Oh big brother. What are you doing?”

I stop typing and look at him. “What do you mean?” There’s question in my voice and I wonder what he knows. Madison wouldn’t tell him anything. She knows to keep this a secret.

“You seem off today Jacob. What’s going on?”

I know Logan is trying to be helpful and is watching out for me. I can’t help but feel annoyed. I’m not a child. I know I’ve been distant.
“Nothing Logan.” I bite out angrily.

“Hey. The
re’s no need for that Jacob. I’m trying to help you.” Logan responds with hurt in his voice. He gets up and walks over to me and places his hand on my shoulder. “You know we all care about you so tell me what’s going on.”

I turn my chair around and face him. I shake my head and get up to walk over to the bar. I pour myself a glass of scotch and bring the cup to my lips. The liquid goes down my throat and leaves a slight burn. “I’m fucking Madis
on,” I tell him with no emotion. “She helps me get my mind off of Katherine.”

Logan, taken
aback from what I just said, leans against my chair with an unreadable expression. “Wow. I’d say congratulations but I know this isn’t you. What’s up?”

I pour myself another glass and shoot it back again. “I don’t know. Everyone keeps telling me to move on and that Madison is
great. Don’t get me wrong she’s great and she’s a good fuck but that’s it.”

“Then
why
are you with her?”

I throw my hands in the air and let out a loud grunt. “I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing
Logan. I haven’t been in a relationship since Katherine died and a part of me does want to move on.”

“It’s okay. I get it. Just make sure she knows that too. I don’t want you to be in a bad situation that you can’t get out of. You are using protection right?”

“Yeah she’s on the pill and I wear a condom. We’ve fucked a few times. Wait, you’re not thinking anything are you?”
