Chapter 18

Abigail

I watch him sleeping peacefully. I don’t want to wake him up but it’s getting late and I know he has a busy day tomorrow. I gently shake Jacob but he doesn’t move. Immediately I get an idea. I bring my lips to his and sweetly give him a kiss. His eyes go wide open as I lift my head up.  “Hi.”

“Hey. How long have I been sleeping?” Jacob stretches out his arms and
rub his eyes.

“It’s eleven o’clock Jacob. I didn’t want to wake you up.” I bring my hand to brush his hair out of his eyes. I see him staring at me and
my body goes on high alert. His eyes are paralyzing me and all I want is to surrender to him; give him my body and feel the pleasures all night long.

Afraid to break our connection, I get up from the couch and stand in front of him. He slowly sits up and stretches again. “I’m going to head out then. It’s getting late.” I look away from him. I really want him to spend the night with me. I want to wake up next to him. I want it all. “Hey, what’s wrong?”

“Um. You can spend the night if you want Jacob. It’s late and you’re exhausted.” My voice is quiet. I hate feeling this nervous and shy.

“I’d love to but I don’t want you to feel as though you have to ask me, sweetheart.”

I sharply shake my head and grab his hands. “No, I want you to spend the night with me. I know Lucas will love to see you in the morning.”

That smirk comes on his face
and his brows shoot up. “But will you?” Before I can answer, he picks me up and carries me upstairs. I’ve been waiting for this moment and am glad he feels the same.

“Jacob,” I whisper laughing, “You don’t know where to go!”

“Show me,” he winks. I point to the door on the right at the end of the long hallway. He speeds up the pace as I hide my giggling in his chest. When we get in my room, Jacob uses his foot to quickly close the door. Finally.

My breathing speeds up

Excitedly I answer, “

“Good night Jacob,” I sweetly respond. “See you in the morning.”

“Always.”

He will always be here by my side. I take in a deep breath and decide it is time to let him know what my heart holds. “Jacob,” I start to say, “I love you.”

“I love you too sweetheart. Forever.” He kisses my lips and we both close our eyes and fall in sleep in each other’s arms.

The next morning, I wake up and watch Jacob sleeping. His breathing is slow and peaceful. I’m so in love with him and want him to show me the world but a part of me is nervous and I don’t want to scare him off.
I run my fingers through his thick hair and kiss the top of his nose.

“Why are you up so early?”  He slowly opens his eyes and looks at me.

I give him another kiss on his cheek. “I can get use to waking up to you.” I snuggle next to him and place my head on his chest. I trace a heart shape on his chest and listen to his breathing.

“I like sleeping next to you,” he murmurs.

I kiss his chest. “I like sleeping next to you too.” Perhaps it’s the haziness of the morning but hearing him tell me that he likes to wake up next to me brings a smile to my face. I love this feeling and how wonderful he is. He puts his arm around me and brings me closer to his body. He kisses my forehead, I love when he does that. “Tell me a secret.”

His breathing slows down and I wonder what’s taking him so long to answer. “I use to see Katherine in my loft as if she
were still alive but ever since we got serious, I don’t see her anymore. I thought I was going crazy but it was as if she was watching over me and pushing me to you.”

I lift my head and see the sadness in his eyes. I know that a part of him will always
love Katherine and I’m glad my best friend had someone who made her happy. “I dreamt of Katherine too and she told me it was okay to fall for you.”

“Looks like she’s our guardian angel.”

I smile. “Yeah, looks like it.”

A spa day is what I need! Hayden and I are sitting in the massage chairs while getting a pedicure. It’s nice to get away from life for a little while. Jacob is taking Lucas and Mila to park with Logan. I look over and see Hayden fully relaxing as she sips on her glass of white wine.

“This is perfect,” she says while laughing and smiling.

“I know! Thank you so much for thinking of this! I don’t remember the last time I had a date with the spa!”

Hayden puts her hand up, “Don’t get me started! Logan tries to get me to go and I have all of these gift cards but I hate being away from Mila. I’ve tried taking her with me but Logan has a heart attack every time I bring it up! He thinks she’s too young to look glamorous.”

We both laugh and drink more of our wine. I love getting to know Hayden and spending time with her. It’s nice to have another friend who understands me and does not judge.

“So,” she winks at me. “How are things with Jacob?”

My face turns bright red and my body betrays me. We see each other all the time and things are wonderful but a part of me still holds onto a piece of my heart. I cannot give him my whole heart for the fear he will leave me haunts my thoughts. Jacob is perfect but sometimes I think he may be too perfect. “He’s amazing Hayden,” I let out a sigh and feel my heart beating a million times a second. “He’s so attentive and we have the most amazing times together. I’m just scared though.” I look down and play with my newly manicured nails.

“Sweetie, don’
t be scared. Jacob’s a great guy and yes he has a past but who doesn’t? Logan used to be a major playboy but when we met, things changed. He

. Jacob is doing the same thing.” Hayden takes my hand and gives me a reassuring squeeze.

We finish up at the spa and leave feeling happy and relaxed. All of a sudden, I feel someone behind me. I turn around and see the same woman from the bar.

“Oh shit,” Hayden mutters.

Madison.

She comes up to me and there’s fire in her eyes. “So you’re the one who is responsible for taking away
my
Jacob!”

“Oh listen here you hussy,” Hayden starts to yell. I hold her back and give her a look. I need to take care of her.

“Madison right?”

“Don’t play stupid you know who I am!”

“Didn’t Jacob break it off with you?”

She points her finger in my face and comes close to me. Oh what the hell! “Listen here you home wrecker! Jacob is

It’ll be best if you run along and let him come back to me. I mean,” she steps back and looks me up and down. “I do look way better than

Hayden yells.

There’s a sudden
surge of anger and I get back in her face. I won’t back down. “Madison, get a life! Jacob was
never
yours to begin with! You’re a crazy bitch! Hayden come on.” I turn around and start to walk away when Madison pushes me and nearly makes me fall. I regain my balance and walk up to her. Without saying anything, I bring my hand high in the air and bring it down right across her face. I take her face in my hands and look at her. “Don’t you
ever
touch me again do I make myself clear?”
