Chapter Twenty-
eight

“Princess, it is time,” Aurora said knocking gently upon the door.

I turned toward the door and smiled. “Thank you, Aurora.”

“Oh, Princess, you look…beautiful,” she said with a happy sigh.

I looked one last time in the
full-length mirror. The wedding gown I wore, created by Tatiana and Anna, of course, was all white lace. It fit snuggly at the hips and flowed to the ground ball gown style. The bodice was like a corset, lacing up the back and tied just above my fanny. My shoulders sparkled with a dusting of Fae dust and a crown of holly held my veil. Aurora handed me my bouquet, purple calla lilies with white tips, my bloom, and I smiled.

Anna and Rose waited in the hallway, dressed in matching deep purple, strapless gowns and carrying white calla lilies with purple tips. I looked at Tatiana and she smiled. “It just seemed suitable,” she said softly and kissed my cheek. “I will see you in there.” She moved down the hallway to the throne room and disappeared.

“Are you ready?” Rose asked.

I nodded and Anna gestured for my father to come forward. “Hi, Daddy.”

He covered his mouth and looked at me with tears in his eyes. “My little princess,” he said crushing me to him. “You look beautiful, sweetheart.”

“Thank you,” I murmured.

“You do love him?” he questioned.

“I do, more than anything,” I replied.

He nodded and took my arm. “Well then, we have a wedding to get to.”

I could hear the strains to the wedding march as Anna disappeared through the door, then Rose, and then finally it was my turn. I stepped into the threshold and looked up to meet Daire’s eyes. His jaw dropped and he grinned as my father walked me down the aisle
.

“Welcome,
family and friends. We are gathered here today to join in matrimony, my heir, Abbey Fergus, Princess of Light and Illusion and her Prince, Daire O’Tuaithal. If anyone here has reason to stop these proceedings, speak now, or forever hold your peace.

Daire and I both turned and looked at our friends, family and the Nobles who had come to wish us joy. I noticed his eyes lingered on Gareth, but Gareth only smiled and nodded. We turned back to Auberon.

“This is indeed a joyous occasion, the beginning of summer and of the journey these two, fine Fae will take together. It has been my pleasure to watch the two of them grow up and grow together. I could not ask for a better mate for my heir. They will serve us well when the time comes,” Auberon began with a smile. He turned to Daire. “Daire O’Tuaithal, do you promise to take Abbey Fergus, Princess of Light and Illusion as your one true wife and mate for always and ever, in sickness and in health for as long as you both shall live?”

Daire looked deep into my eyes, squeezed my fingers and said, “I do, always,
mo ghrá ach
.”

Auberon grinned and turned to me. “And do you Abbey Fergus, Princess of Light and Illusion, take Daire O’Tuaithal to be your true husband and mate for always and ever, in sickness and in health for as long as you both shall live?”

“I do, always, my only love.” I smiled up at Daire.

“The rings?” Auberon asked and Rose stepped forward with a pillow and two rings. Auberon picked the rings up and held them before our gathered family and friends. “These rings are your connection to each other. They symbolize your never ending love for each other and for our people. May you wear them always in good health.” He handed each of us a ring. I held out my hand and Daire placed a delicate golden band on my finger, and I did the same for him.

“I love you,” Daire murmured softly and I murmured the same back to him.

“Now, with the power vested in me as King of Light and Illusion, I pronounce you Warrior and Wife. You may kiss your bride,” Auberon declared.

Daire grinned and pulled me into his arms and kissed me soundly. We turned a few moments later to face our family and friends. Music began to play once again and we walked arm and arm down the aisle and into our lives together, forever and always.

Epilogue

Eighteen months later

“You are looking beautiful as ever, Princess,” Gareth said with a grin as he joined us in the throne room for the naming.

I smiled as Daire walked up behind me and put his arms around me and our sweet little daughter. “Don’t even think about it, Gareth,” Daire commented. “You will not challenge her today.”

Gareth laughed. It had become a thing for Gareth and I to get into the ring and battle, just for the sake of staying in shape, that is, until I became pregnant. I was the only one willing to give him a run for his money, though I always let him win. I did not want to be the Goblin Queen through an accidental win in the ring. “I wasn’t even considering it, not today.” His eyes strayed to the bundle in my arms.

Auberon called everyone to order, “Welcome once again, family and friends. We gather together once again for a joyous occasion! The naming of my great-great granddaughter!”

Daire and I smiled and stepped forward. We’d kept the name a secret, not wanting to share until the christening. Daire held our daughter up for all of Faerie to see. She sparkled in his hands, covered in Faerie Dust and a pretty little Fae sundress.

“Please welcome our daughter, Tatiana Rose O’Tuaithal, to the land of the Fae,” Daire pronounced for all to hear.

Tatiana Rose laughed and it sounded like tiny little bells ringing through the air. Daire and I smiled and looked over at Tatiana who had tears in her eyes.

Daire hugged me to him and handed me our daughter. Our life was perfect. We were surrounded by
our friends, family and love and we could not ask for more than that. It was a good life, it was… Magic.
