His hand slid between my thighs, rubbing me through my cotton panties. “You’re so wet for me.” I lifted my hips off the bed, grinding myself shamelessly into his hand. A single finger stroked me achingly slow, lining the wetness between my lips. I whimpered, desperate for him to enter me.

“Ryker, please.”

He crawled down the bed, his broad shoulders shoving my legs apart. He settled between me, his face inches from my pulsing sex. He kissed my panties, his lips pressing against my visible arousal. Ryker blew a cold breath against my wet underwear, the sensation sending shivers all over my body. His fingers hooked the fabric and pushed it to the side, exposing me. I arched off the bed again, wanting his mouth on me. Instead, he just lay there, watching me writhe and moan.

“Your pussy is fucking beautiful,” he admired, pressing a single kiss to my pelvic bone. “I want it to be mine, Gabby.”

His words sent my body into overdrive, tingles arrowing straight to my sex. He was going to make me come without even touching me. The ache was too strong and I tried to rub my legs together, but I was blocked by Ryker’s body. My hand moved down between my legs and reached my clit, and the pressure I applied sent my breath bursting out in a harsh exhale.

“That’s right, babe. Touch yourself. Show me what you want me to do.” Ryker’s voice was harsh with lust, driving me to rub my magical spot more forcefully. My breathing was shallow, and my heart was pounding. I was on full display for this man, my most intimate part now centimeters from his face. I didn’t have time to feel vulnerable with all the other sensations and emotions flooding through me. The moment was so erotic, my body on the verge of climax.

A strangled moan erupted from within me, my fingers rubbing faster and faster. “Tell me when you’re going to come, Gabby. I want to know when.”

“Right now, Ryker. Oh, fuck…I’m going to come right now!” I cried.

His mouth closed the almost nonexistent space to my pussy in an instant. I was still pleasuring myself, letting my body ride out the waves of my intense orgasm. His mouth was there to catch it, lapping up my arousal and spurring it on. Waves of heat rushed through me from head to toe as pleasure radiated from my core. Ryker’s hand replaced my own, finishing me off. I threw my hands behind me and gripped the headboard with white knuckles, letting my body run on pure desire.

When my orgasm subsided, Ryker gripped underneath my thighs and pushed my legs up high. My knees were resting against my chest and my ass was held slightly off the bed from his strength. His tongue slowly stroked my sex with one long passionate sweep. The combination of his wet tongue and the scratchy stubble on his face overwhelmed my sensitive flesh, almost making me jack knife off the mattress. Enjoying my reaction, he consumed me greedily without breaking his rhythm. My release came full force for the second time, leaving me a quivering mess. I was positive that people around the world could hear my deafening screams.

Ryker broke free from my sex long enough to plunge deep inside me. The pressure of penetration intensified the fierce waves raging within me.

Ryker stilled. “Shit, Gabby. I don’t have a condom on.”

I shook my head frantically. “It’s okay. I’m clean, and I’m on the pill.”

That was all the answer he needed. He leaned down and kissed my lips with such passion, I knew they’d be swollen and bruised.

He moved against me, bringing about a rush I never before felt.

Love.

I clawed at his back and locked my ankles around his waist, holding onto him with everything I had as he moved faster and pounded into me with pure need. He threw his head back and I licked his chest, enjoying the salty taste of his sweaty skin on my tongue.

With a final drive, an animalistic sound erupted from way down in his chest as he poured himself into me. I could feel his hot semen shooting deep inside me as his cock jerked against the walls of my core. My body milked Ryker, emptying him of his release as he slowly rocked himself on top of me.

His weight fell on me, his incredible body blanketing me. Our breathing slowed, and I loosened my grip on him. My trembling legs collapsed on the bed, too weak to move, and Ryker pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead before easing himself out of me. He shifted his body and rolled me on my side, spooning me from behind. He swept my tangled hair off my nape and breathed me in, his exhale sending goosebumps down my arms as I felt his lips against my shoulder blade and heard his satisfied sigh.

“We
will
need to get out of bed today,” I joked, my voice sounding scratchy from screaming.

Ryker’s arm swung over my waist and pulled me into him. His arms squeezed me tenderly, “I know, but I just want to hold you right now.”

We sat in my small kitchen listening to music while I prepared breakfast. Ryker grabbed two mugs and picked out two single serving coffee packs while my high-tech machine heated up with the push of a button. I peeked over his shoulder to see which flavor he’d chosen—the caramel flavored iced coffee for me, and the original blend hot coffee for him. Bonus points to Ryker for listening and remembering which coffee I enjoyed the most.

While he brewed our individual coffees, I danced around the tiny kitchen looking for different ingredients. I’d had to teach myself to cook a long time ago. I wasn’t a chef by any stretch of the imagination, but I could whip up some tasty meals.

This morning, I’d decided to make us breakfast burritos. The eggs were cooking in my new skillet, and I’d chopped peppers on my bright-pink cutting board. I loved buying cute and funky things for my kitchen to make the small place brighter.

I glided over to Ryker to grab some salt when one of my favorite songs played through the radio. I gripped the fork I was holding like it was a microphone and popped my hip dramatically, booty bumping him. He shook his head and laughed, dropping some ice cubes into my coffee. I reached out and grabbed his hand, swinging it around wildly and belting out some lyrics about surviving.

When there was a pause in the song, I spun around to check on the eggs. I just turned the stove top off when I was swept around and bent back over Ryker’s arm. He pulled me up when the woman’s beautiful voice came back over the speakers and surprised me even more.

Ryker sang about saving his love for someone who loved him.

We both collapsed to the tiled floor, laughing hysterically at our unexpected silliness. When the shock of him joining my music party faded, I thought of how amazing his voice had sounded. I knew that I wasn’t a good singer, but that never stopped me from enjoying myself. Ryker, on the other hand…his voice was worthy of being heard. “Holy shit…you can sing, baby.”

His laughing eased, and he shrugged, seeming embarrassed. I stood up when he didn’t say anything and he followed me, going back to get our coffee. I added the eggs and peppers to the wheat wraps, then rolled them tightly. I placed them on the plastic plates that Ryker had pulled down for me, and we sat at the table together as he handed me my coffee.

“My mother used to sing that song around the house a lot. My sister loves it as well, so between the two of them I learned all the words.” He laughed.

“I love that song.”

He nodded. “Yeah, it’s pretty catchy.”

I watched Ryker take a bite of his breakfast burrito, then he moaned and gave me a thumbs up—his stamp of approval. We both dug in, enjoying the food and coffee. When we’d finished, he took the plates and rinsed them before putting them in the dishwasher, then we brought our coffees into the living room and I settled into his side while we watched a sitcom that we both loved.

The domesticity of this morning was something I never would have dreamed of, but I wouldn’t have changed it for anything.

A few hours later we untangled ourselves knowing we couldn’t be lazy all day. I needed to start a new assignment and study some notes for my upcoming test, and Ryker needed to stop in at the bar. I walked him to the door and accepted his sweet kiss goodbye.

“I want you at my race tonight.”

I squeezed his hands. “I wouldn’t miss it.”

After Ryker left, I got started on designing a book cover for a previous client who was releasing a new book. The second I finished the cover’s outline, a loud knocking on my front door startled me. Angry thuds rocked the door until I swung it wide open.

It was Jay.

She came barreling inside, her hands flying in every direction as she talked a mile a minute. “Jay!” I screamed, getting her attention. “Calm down.”

She dropped onto my couch looking defeated. “I don’t even know where to begin. There’s just so much going on, and in order for anything to make sense I’ll have to start from the beginning. Problem is, there are some things about me that I’ve never told you about.”

I nodded. Part of me was curious about what kind of secrets Jay could have, but the other part of me didn’t want to know. I was afraid that whatever she told me would set me up to reveal a few of my own secrets.

“Okay.” She took a deep breath. “Well, you know how my brother is a single dad because his kid’s mother is a douchebag, right? I help him out by watching his daughter as much as I can, and I love and protect her as if she’s my own. All of a sudden that stupid bitch pops up out of nowhere on Facebook last night. She’s pregnant. Apparently she wants to try and fight for custody of Lily, even though she hasn’t seen her in over three years. Mind you, Lily is only four!” Jay screams.

“That bitch, Aimee, chose drugs over that little girl and she’s still using. I know it for a fact. She wants to pretend that she’s cured and can be a mom now because she’s pregnant again. She’s saying all this stupid shit about getting a second chance to do it right, like it’s a fucking video game with multiple tries! Bitch, please! You fucked with my beautiful niece and after all this time when she finally accepts that you’re not going to be a part of her life anymore, even if she doesn’t understand it, you want to come out of nowhere and take her away? No way in hell.”

Jay got up and started pacing my living room. “My brother has given her chances to see her baby in the past when she was clean. She’d make all these fucking empty promises to the kid, get her all excited for nothing, then the next day Aimee would be out using drugs again and not calling her daughter for months and months. I gave her a piece of my mind last night. Let her know how much I couldn’t stand her and that she’d better stay the fuck away from Lily. She tried to get all tough and talk shit to me, saying that I’m a drug addict just like her and I shouldn’t be one to talk. She thinks I shouldn’t be around Lily because I’m a junkie and she’s going to try and get her taken away from my brother even if she gets put in foster care. She just doesn’t care.”

Jay stood back in front of me, looking me square in my eyes. “That’s the part you didn't know. Yes, I did drugs. I used to do a lot of cocaine. Like, a lot. Aimee wants to compare herself to me, but she can’t. I got clean over four years ago and I haven’t touched shit since. I had my own reasons for quitting, but Aimee’s kid wasn’t good enough for her to quit. Whatever. Lily is living a good life right now, and there’s no reason to try and shake shit up. As much as I think it’d be great if she were doing good, I know it wouldn’t last.”

I listened as Jay continued laying her fears and secrets on the table. Her once upbeat and carefree personality seemed weighed down with worry. Her rich-chocolate eyes looked haunted, so unsure of the future safety of the child she loved as her own. When she finished spilling her guts, she was sprawled out on my couch as if the act of sitting up took too much strength and effort.

“I need a drink.” She sighed heavily.

I stood from the recliner that was angled toward the couch, “Well, I don’t have much since I don’t drink, but I do have some wine I use for cooking. Red and white.”

“Red, please. You’re a god-send, Gabby.”

I got her wine and poured it into a cute wine glass I never had reason to use. When I sat back down, I decided to share a bit of my past with her. I blew a long breath out in preparation, trying to calm my frantic nerves.

“What’s wrong?” Jay looked concerned.
