“Our food is getting cold.”

“Let it.” Jon nuzzled her neck, dripped soft kisses down her chin as she moved closer to him. He ran his hands over her bare shoulders and around to the back of her gown. He tugged at the zipper and in one swift move he pulled it down and slid the gown off. She stepped out of the flowing white satin gown and stood in front of him naked except for a pair of four inch heels.

At first she looked down as if shy and then when she looked in to his eyes, he crushed her body to is. She lost her balance and fell in to him and giggled. “I can’t walk in these shoes.”

“You don’t have to.” Jon groaned as he picked her up and she wrapped both legs around his hips. He crushed his mouth to hers, desperate to feel her, wanting to be inside of her right this moment. He walked them over to the blanket and dropped to his knees. She clung on to him, her nails biting his flesh as she moaned in his mouth.

Jon thought he would explode. “It’s been so long baby. Tonight you’re mine. I want to savor every single moment and devour your whole body with my mouth.”

She groaned again and flung her head back. He laid her on the blanket and ran his hand over her warm flesh. His knuckles brushed her cheek, and he ran his thumb across her mouth then opened his palm and ran his hand down her beautiful skin. Her nipples were taut, ready for him. He pulled his shirt off in one swift motion.

Jon stood up and yanked at his pants, slid them off and returned to her on the blanket. He kissed her so deep she shivered in his arms. Jon dropped soft kisses down her skin until he took a nipple in his mouth. She cried out, and he felt her fingers grab his hair. He moved over her, his lips touching her skin, her moans urging him on. He wanted to take her so bad, but he knew he had to go slow. She was so raw, her emotions so fragile, he was afraid to hurt her and yet the need to be inside of her and claim her once again was so strong it was hard to hold back. She was his forever.

“Jon, I need you right now. Please.”

He whispered in her ear. “I don’t want to hurt you.”

“You can’t love. Please, right now.”

She pulled at his hips and he plunged in to her in one swift move. He stopped and looked down at her but all he saw was the way her eyes delved in to his own. They were full of lust and love and want and need. He shuddered as he moved his hips. She met him thrust for thrust, crying out to him, proclaiming her love as his own groans mingled with her cries. His head flew back as he came nearer to release until she forced his head forward with her hands to look in to her eyes.

“I love you Jon,” she told him. Her words took him over the edge and he couldn’t stop as he shattered in to little tiny fragments. He felt her body stiffen and cry out his name over and over again.

He kissed her mouth so soft and long he didn’t think he ever wanted to let go of her lips. She curled in to his arms as they lay side by side on the blanket that was fast being covered in sand. Her arm slung over his hip and caressed his skin.

He moved on to his back taking her with him. “What changed baby?”

She murmured as if unable to speak. He kissed her again, her mouth stirring him more. She pulled away and swallowed. “I’ll tell you in the hot tub.” She jumped up and ran through the sand, tripping over her feet before she got a hold of herself and ran for her life.

Jon wasn’t far behind and he picked her up and flung her around before carrying her naked up the steps to deposit her in the water. She reached out and flung the switch as the water swirled. Jon joined her, their thighs touching as he stretched and let the therapeutic water run over his muscles.

Abby spoke up in her soft voice. “I changed. That’s what happened.” He took her hand in his. “When you said those words before you walked out of our bedroom it hit me so hard I wanted to crawl in a hole and die.”

He closed his eyes.

“Jon, when you said it was your baby too, I realized how selfish I acted.” She straddled him and took his face in both her hands. “I am so sorry I neglected you. Forgive me, love. Life isn’t the same for me if you aren’t here with me. I am so, so sorry.”

Jon reached up and clasped her hands. He kissed her with all he had to give. “Let me show you how much you mean,” he told her between kisses.

She laughed. “You don’t have to show me, I can feel how much. I love you Jon Hatfield.”

The sounds of water slapping over the edges of the hot tub mingled with the normal evening sounds of ocean waves that splashed against the banks of the seawall. “I love you Abby, I always will,” whispered through the night air.

Chapter 11

“There is no way I’m spending tonight with Jake,” Jon told her. “We’re not jinxed if we don’t abide by rules! Besides those silly rules are not meant for us.” Jon straddled her in their luxurious bed and dropped tiny kisses along her neck.

She giggled. “It’s tradition, love.”

He groaned. “Since when do you pay attention to tradition?” She screeched when he tickled her side then wrapped her legs around his and pushed herself in to his hips.

“Stop that Abby. You know how to convince me baby.”

“Then it’s settled. You go to Jakes tonight and Maggie comes here. I’ll see you tomorrow at noon.”

He lifted himself up and towered over her. “You’re dead serious about this, aren’t you?”

She nodded. “I am Jon. It won’t hurt you to be away from me for one day. I want this to be special. Besides, you can have a bachelor party tonight.”

His eyes lit up. “Naked dancers that pop out of cakes too?”

She giggled. “Whatever you want. No touching though. You’re soon to be wife is a dangerous woman. She’s gone up against Zorro and won.”

He nuzzled her neck before getting out of bed. Abby watched him walk across the room, her eyes filled with love. This man would be her husband come tomorrow.

She jumped out of bed and followed him to the shower. It wouldn’t hurt to have some fun before he left for Jake’s place. But when she entered the bathroom Jon came out of nowhere, picked her up and deposited her in the running shower first. A blast of warm air hit her like a ton of bricks. She screamed and flung her arms around his neck.

“Abby! I may have to go to Jake’s tonight but by the time I leave here today you will regret following tradition.” He cornered her in the shower, her back against the wall. His body loomed over her and his hands began a torture of their own.

She couldn’t speak even if she tried.

“I’m ready.” She shook her head. Her shoulders lifted as she sighed and took a deep breath.

“You look beautiful.” Christina kissed her daughter’s cheek. “I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become. I know I haven’t been around for you and I want to tell you now before you start a family of your own that I was wrong to do some of the things I did to you, Abigail.”

Abby ran her hand down her mother’s cheek. “No Mom. Don’t. Every single thing was one step to bringing me right here today. You weren’t wrong.”

“Honey, we planned our own death so you could have a normal life without two spies to put you in danger. I think sometimes I should have been a more caring mother and stayed home but I couldn’t bear to let your Father do it alone. He is the love of my life. I wanted you to understand.”

“Oh Mama, I do. Jon is the love of my life. I think we’ve been through some terrible times and we are still together.” She smiled at her Mother, whose eyes filled with tears. “Your dedication to each other showed me I can have that too, and I do. Never look back, you did what you thought was right.”

“Oh baby girl, you have become such a strong, wise woman.” They hugged and cried and wiped their tears.

Maggie popped her head in the door. “It’s time.”

Her mother pulled a necklace from her purse. She gazed at it and then told Abby to turn around. Abby stood in front of the mirror and closed her eyes. When she opened them, she gasped at the beautiful pendant. Her fingers went to the stone, and she stared at it through the mirror. “It’s beautiful.”

Christina kissed her cheek. “Like its new owner. This is the same necklace your father gave me on our wedding day. I had to hide it for years because we disguised ourselves as a homeless couple. Now it’s right where it should be. Something old.”

“Can we make it something borrowed Mama. This belongs to you.”

Her mother touched her cheek. “Not any more dear. It belongs to you now to be passed to the next generation of strong women.” Abby turned and flung her arms around her mother’s neck.

Maggie popped her head in again. “It’s time you two. Hurry!”

Abby wiped her tears and checked herself. “I am a beautiful bride,” she whispered to the woman in the mirror as she stepped in to her silver pumps. She looked around, it’s simple and elegant room decorated so fine. Jake’s crew did a great job with the new vacation house and had it finished in time for their wedding.

“Here we go,” she said and smiled at herself one last time. She opened the door to find her Father waiting with his arm outstretched. He kissed her cheek.

“You are a beautiful bride,” he said as his gaze wandered to the necklace she wore.

“Thanks Daddy, now let’s get this show on the road. I want to be Mrs. Hatfield and I want it right now!” She giggled, her childish words making him laugh.

She tucked her arm in his and began the long walk towards the docks. A small group of people, their close friends and family gathered there and watched as the bride and father walked across the grounds. She felt so beautiful and pulled the cathedral veil, adorned with yards of Chantilly lace over her face. The lace ran down her back as her ivory beaded gown brushed against her silky skin.

As she walked towards the dock, three musicians strummed on their guitars. She smiled at them, appreciative of their beautiful music. It was so romantic and a nice surprise when Jon decided they were the only ones who could play the wedding march.

She felt her father’s arm tremble against her own. “It’s okay, Daddy.” She squeezed him tighter. When she stood in front of her soon to be husband and the preacher asked who would give the bride away, her heart sang as her father said he did. She was about to cry, but looked at Jon and her heart swam with courage and pride and so much love she was about to burst. He gave her the strength to get through an important life changing moment with her father.

He took her hand and lifted it to his lips. She shivered and took her place beside him.

“I understand you wrote your own vows.”

They both nodded to the preacher, looked at each other and Abby’s mind went blank. “I think I forgot the words to say,” she told him in a soft voice. Their fingers entwined as she continued. “I don’t need a long pre-written speech or fancy words. What I want you to know is you have my heart, all of it, in every way. I can count on you to be there no matter what happens, no matter what I do or how I react to things, you are the man who has stood by me and picked me up when I fell. You are the man I want to share every single day for the rest of my life with.” She smiled through tears that fell from her face.

Jon raised her veil and kissed her soft lips as tears ran down her cheeks. Nervous laughter rose from the crowd when the preacher cleared his throat. “Mr. Hatfield, you’re ahead of yourself. You forgot to say your part of the vows.”

Jon grinned and took her hands again. “I’m not good at speaking, I like to show you how I feel, but today is different, so I want to tell you that every single day of the rest of your life, I’ll be here for you to love you and make you happy and wipe every tear from your eye.” He leaned closer to her and whispered in her ear. “And make you scream with pleasure over and over again every single night.”

The crowd went wild.

Abby’s face reddened at first and then she burst out laughing too. Jon forgot they wore microphones so everyone could hear the vows. He looked out at the crowd, then flung his head back and roared out loud.

When the crowd calmed down they exchanged rings and the preacher spoke again. “Since they already kissed, I’ll introduce you now to Mr. and Mrs. Jon Hatfield.”

The three musicians played as the two kissed again. “I love you Mrs. Hatfield. Too bad we have to stick around for a while, I want to celebrate right now.”

She hugged him and smiled. “You gave me a day to remember my love. This is perfect.”

He kissed her harder. “Let’s get the celebrations over so we can have our own private celebrations.”

“You’ve already told the whole world,” she laughed, pulling the microphone from his shirt and flung it to the ground. She turned to the others and began her walk on the arm of her husband.

Joshua Eden, the undercover agent in the first book of the series, Nothing Waits Forever, has his own story to tell. Here’s a taste of the next spin-off, Key West Wild.

Chapter 1

Joshua Eden took a long swig of Gentleman Jack, swirling the amber liquid in his mouth. It slid down his throat as his gaze wandered to a cab that stopped along the curb outside the bar. He relished this slow, laid back life right now. It was his way to rejuvenate and come back to the real world. What a relief not to be living on the edge, no drug dealers or gun runners or crime any more. A glass of expensive whiskey at his disposal was all he cared about.
