Fabian stared down at the raven haired beauty who watched him, her expression serene and surprisingly calm. As he studied her, he realised that for the first time in as long as he could remember, he was at a loss as to what to do.

Chapter Seven

Sirene

I met Fabian’s stormy pale eyes, struggling to keep my expression as calm as possible and not let him see how nervous I really was. He was pissed, seriously pissed and I didn’t know what he might do. Just because we’d had sex and he said he liked me, didn’t mean he wouldn’t kill me or have someone else do it if he wanted it done.  He was a vampire after all and he’d been prepared to have his son killed without a second thought. Well, his son by blood. A man he’d turned vampire and his son’s woman who he’d at one point wanted for himself. He’d had them dispensed with, or so he thought and I couldn’t see anything even remotely hinting at any kind of remorse or guilt, in his demeanour. So it stood to reason, if he didn’t care about them, he wouldn’t give a shit about me either.

Deciding to opt for attitude, rather than risk him seeing I was nervous, I quirked an eyebrow his direction, as he paced before me like some sort of restless caged lion. Fuck he was hot and now I knew what he had under those clothes, I wanted to go there again but the look on his face looked more like a man who wanted to choke me, not fuck me.

“So are you going to continue with the pacing and give me a crick in my neck or say something?. You didn’t seem to be short of accusations and indignation a moment ago.”

He stopped and glared at me again. “So how long have you been a practicing witch?” He asked.

“I didn’t even know I was one when I was a child. My parents were killed when I was very young and I was sent to live with my grandmother on the mainland, the Hunter Valley area. She fostered several other kids, so we all had to work and help out on her farm. It was one day when I was fighting with one of the boys that Grandma fostered, that I got the shits with him, and wished he’d go stick his head in the toilet.” I gave him a rueful grin. “He did it and I freaked out as he nearly drowned, but when Grandma found out she started testing me. It was just little things at first, but eventually she told me I was a witch. Apparently I’m from a long line of them, she was a witch too, and we dated right back to 1300 and something in Europe.”

I paused and shot a quick look at Fabian, to see how he was dealing with what I was telling him.

“So where in Europe do you ancestors come from?” He asked, and I could see the tension in his expression, his eyes wary as he waited for my answer.

“Italy apparently. I think some were scattered around various parts of Europe but mostly Italy and some in France, Germany and Sweden but nearly all of them died during the witch trials. I honestly don’t know much about the history of my ancestors but I have to wonder, why it interests you so much?” I turned my attention on him. Would he tell me the truth? I already knew everything about his past from Dominick and Allegra.

“I knew a witch and her daughter 500 years ago Sirene. I fell in love with the daughter. Carmella was just 17 years old and I desired her but she was an innocent and her mother Katarina did not approve of us seeing one another. Things did not end well and Carmella died. I was cursed by her mother but escaped the curse as I’d left the country. Luckily for me, the net of Katarina’s curse did not extend far enough to get me. It was fortunate too, that I was warned by another young woman in the village that I was to be cursed. I don’t know why she helped me, but I think her family and Katarina’s family were hated by one another.

“Almost a year ago I discovered that Katarina had come back; reincarnated in the body of the woman my dead son Dominick fell in love with. She could hurt me without even touching me, but her and Dominick were killed in a plane crash about 8 months ago.”

I had to school my features not to show any reaction to his words. There was no way I could reveal that I already knew what had happened, and that I knew he’d been responsible for the plane crash. My gaze moved over his face wondering what was going on behind those pale eyes. Would he arrange to have me killed too? Try and make my death look like an accident?

“Why would this Katarina want to curse you?” I had to ask, to see how truthful he intended being with me.

“I fucked her daughter over and over, and fucked with her mind until she went mad and died.” He said quietly. He sounded quite matter of fact about it. He made no effort to sugar coat it or try to paint himself in a better light. He simply came right out and admitted she died because of him.

“Do you think I’m here to curse you Fabian? Do you believe I’m Katarina or Carmella reincarnated? If Allegra died and she was Katarina reincarnated, I wonder what Katarina would do without a body to possess? Do you think she’s possessed me?” I gave him a wide eyed look.

“I don’t believe that you are Katarina. You would not have allowed me to fuck you if you were. She hated me, she wanted me dead. Still, you did torture me by not allowing me to come so I did suffer; but I don’t think that would be her style. She would want me dead. If she becomes powerful enough, she will try and destroy me. You are attracted to me, you wanted to be fucked by me. She would die rather than allow me to touch her.”

He fell quiet for a moment, staring at me, a small frown on his face. What was going on behind those eyes of his I wondered? I shifted in my seat, my legs moving restlessly as I uncrossed them, then recrossed them. Fabian’s eyes followed every movement, before his focus shifted back to my face.

“Did you know you are very wet? You have soaked your jeans.” He said, something flaring in his eyes.

I curled my lip at him. “Thanks for pointing that out.” I said sarcastically. “I didn’t want to dress without cleaning up first, but some grumpy individual had to get all bossy so I didn’t get a chance to have a wash, shower, nothing. It’s your fault I’m so wet anyway, it’s your cum.” I snapped.

Fabian leaned towards me, his hands on the arms of my chair. “If someone hadn’t put a spell on me so I couldn’t come, I wouldn’t have loaded you up so much when I finally did.” He snapped back.

We glared at each other for several moments until finally I backed off and reached up to push at him. “Get away from me. I need to stand up. It’s late and if your interrogation is over, I’d like to go home.”

He stepped back and allowed me to scramble to my feet. I shoved my hair which was still in some tangled, just fucked disarray, back off my face and I wished I had a brush on me to restore some sort of order to it.

“You’re not going anywhere my little spitfire.” He said. “I’m not done with you yet, and in fact you will not be allowed to leave here until morning. When I am ready to get my sleep, I shall give you permission to leave then.”

I gaped at him briefly, before snorting with laughter. “You don’t seriously think you can keep me here against my will Fabian. I’m a witch. I can curse you or put a spell on you. What would you like next? A rotting penis perhaps?”

“What I would like is for you to stop arguing with me, and stop threatening me with curses and spells. If you wish to put some kind of spell on me, just go ahead and do it.” He said and I wasn’t sure if he was serious or trying to call my bluff. I was bluffing wasn’t I? I didn’t really want to put another spell on him, well not tonight at least.

Still, maybe something small, just to teach him a lesson? I walked up to him as he stood, glowering down at me from his 6 foot 4 frame and damn he was a sexy bastard.

“You don’t really want me to cast some sort of spell over you, do you Fabian?” I tilted my head to one side as I stared up at him. “What if I do give you a rotting penis?”

Not backing down he snapped. “Well, just so long as I can still come, I’ll take the rotting penis. I can take myself in hand if it’s too bad to fuck someone with. Don’t ever make it so I can’t come again. That was torture. If torturing me is what you wanted to do, you succeeded and then the agony and the ecstasy of finally coming, might have killed me if I wasn’t already dead.”

“You are such a pussy Fabian.” I teased. It was dangerous teasing this man since he was a powerful vampire and I knew what he was capable of but I couldn’t help myself, and just wanted to continually find ways to drive him crazy.

“I am no fucking pussy and you would do well to be careful what you say around me. If being unable to come is so easy to deal with why don’t you try it?” He asked.

“Well I’m not going to put a spell on myself now am I?” I smirked and Fabian took me by surprise when he threw back his head and laughed.

“You don’t need to put a spell on yourself my beauty, I can deny you gratification without any magic.” He challenged.

“Is this like some kind of dare?” I asked and he chuckled quietly.

“Read into it what you will Sirene.”

I studied him, my eyes moving over his gorgeous face as he watched me, waiting for my response. Damn, did he have to kind of dare me? A challenge was like a dare and I could never resist a dare, but if I allowed him to mess with me, what did I do to mess with him?

Suddenly an idea came to me and I smiled a slow, secretive smile. I heard Fabian growl, drawing my attention to him. Damn the man even growled in a sexy way.

He was frowning down at me, suspicion showing in his pale eyes. “Why do I get the feeling you are planning something that is not going to be beneficial to me?” He asked and my smile widened.

“Why would you think that?” I tried to keep my tone innocent. “I accept your challenge. Show me what it’s like to not be able to come, but when? It’s late, you will need to sleep in a few hours once the sun comes up and I really need a shower since I feel very icky below.”

Fabian’s eyes filled with amusement. “Icky? Is that a word commonly used by witches?”

“I have no idea since I don’t mix with witches. It’s not a word I commonly use, but in this particular case I’ve needed to use it, since I was forced to dress immediately after someone had come in me, in a very spectacular fashion. I never got to clean up, so hence the need to use the witchy word, icky.”

I watched as Fabian’s eyes heated and he grinned at me before stepping forward, his hands cupping my face. He said nothing, just stared at me for a while and I wondered what was going through his head.

“What to do with you Sirene? You know if anyone comes into my life who is a threat to me, I have them killed? You are a threat to me. I can’t control you. You have power that is dangerous to me, but I find myself unsure what to do about you. This is a first for me and it’s also a first in a very long time that I’ve wanted to fuck the same woman more than once, or at least for more than one night. You truly are a witch aren’t you? You are messing with my head and I’m not accustomed to feeling like this, so again I ask myself, what do I do with you?”

“Well, it would suck if you killed me.” I whispered and his lips curved up at my words. “I’m not here to kill you Fabian. If I was, I’d have done it by now but I get off on a little bit of teasing and torment. I can’t help it.”

“I still would very much like to know who you are working for. I am curious to learn who could hate me enough to hire you to get to me. I wasn’t aware that I had any enemies anywhere Sirene. So, why won’t you just tell me?”

I rolled my eyes at him as my response. I knew if he could mind control me, he’d have done it by now. Even without been able to, he was still very persuasive, his voice and stare almost hypnotic; almost, but not quite. I couldn’t betray Dominick and Allegra’s trust, not unless they chose to reveal to Fabian that they were in fact still alive.

“You know I can’t tell you that Fabian. If I worked for you would you appreciate me revealing your identity to others? Just be safe in the knowledge that they don’t wish you dead, they just thought I might be able to have a little fun and so far it’s been fun.” I grinned.

“You’ve done something to Cassandra haven’t you? I can’t do anything to her anymore without pain in my cock. What is it with you and cocks? You like to attack a man where it hurts him most?”

I laughed at his expression. “Of course Fabian. You men are so wimpy over the damned things. It’s all about saving the penis so of course the most obvious place to attack with a spell is the penis.”

“I am not wimpy and I do not appreciate you implying that I am so. Of course my cock is important to me. It gives women a lot of pleasure. Are you going to deny it? I made you come, more than once too.”

“Yeah, well I came more than you didn’t I? You definitely had a little problem there, and like a child denied candy, you turned into a pussy when you couldn’t come.” I smirked knowing I was really pushing him now but unable to stop. The strange thing was, I was having fun. Fabian had a quick mind and it was entertaining talking to him, teasing him. He was being surprisingly tolerant with me too, given what I’d put him through.

His words cracked me up though and I laughed. “It gives women a lot of pleasure.” I mocked. “Geez Fabian, could you sound any more like a stuffy old vampire?”

Fabian moved quickly, taking me by surprise, grabbing my arms, holding me firmly as he shoved his face right down to mine. “I think you forget who you are dealing with my beauty. I have shown you extreme tolerance so far when I could kill you before you had time to do anything in retaliation. Do not make the mistake of forgetting what I am and do not make the mistake of pushing me too far. You forced me into a situation that was incredibly difficult for me, and I confess that you weakened me for a moment, but don’t assume that you can do it again, or that I will be as forgiving the next time. If you dare to reveal what you did to me to anyone, I will not hesitate to take your life. Do not underestimate what I am capable of.” His tone was soft and menacing.
