Now, with the war brewing, he was a little more afraid than usual. Bad times were coming, and he wasn’t sure if he was prepared for them.

“You could open a travel agency.”

“Please.” He snorted. “I don’t know the first thing about it.”

“You could learn.” She sighed. “Or perhaps you could have your own bar.”

“And I don’t have any capital to even think about something like that.”

“In that case, you could start an adventure club. Have different kinds of thrilling activities, such as bike riding, dirt bike riding, maybe bungee jumping, or rock wall climbing, and you could teach people. That would be awesome.”

“Yeah, sure that would be, except I am scared of heights so rock wall and bungee jumping are out.”

She sputtered. “You’re scared of heights.”

He suddenly felt self-conscious. “Hey! A man is allowed to have one tiny flaw.”

The grin spread on her lips from one end to another and lit her face. “One only. No. This is the second one, and it’s a big one. I am floored. Really.”

His cheeks flushed with color, and then he caught the gleam of amusement in her eyes. The woman was enjoying making him uncomfortable. “Fine, fine. Have fun at my expense.”

She put a hand on his. “Don’t be silly. I think it’s cute, endearing really. You’re scared of heights, and I am scared of snakes and spiders and lizards and anything that crawls.”

“Women are allowed to have such issues.”

“Really? And men are supposed to be Neanderthal cavemen and not be scared of anything? Let me tell you something, I would choose a sensitive man over someone who likes to flash his muscles any day.”

“I have never flashed my muscles,” he said.

“No. I didn’t mean that. I just mean to say that it’s ok to be scared of something. It doesn’t make you less of a man, but rather, your willingness to accept it makes you more of a man.”

“And you like that?”

“Oh, I love it, honey.”

They smiled at each other. It was nice to joke around with someone, but with such banter, he realized that he had found someone with whom he could have a real relationship. She wasn’t going to run away at the first sign of trouble or weakness. He could count on her to stick around, and that realization was so heady, so affirming, that he actually felt dizzy.

Marco had found the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, and now all he had to do was convince her of that—and then all would be right. The only problem was that he wasn’t sure she felt the same way. If she didn’t, all would be lost. Now that he had her, he couldn’t bear to lose her. The mere thought of that sent a lance of fear down his spine.

He didn’t like to feel that way.

Not a tiny bit.

Chapter Three

As they entered his apartment, Stacy was filled with a breathless anticipation. The evening only served to highlight the attraction she felt for Marco. When she was with him, every cell in her body was on fire. She longed for his touch, ached to feel his skin next to hers, and desired to kiss him. Passion and need burst inside her gut and exploded in a fierce cocktail of emotions.

Sauntering into the room, she dumped her purse on the chair and turned to face him. “Now what?”

Rather than answer her, he drew her in his arms. The scent of him assailed her nostrils, and she took a deep breath before his mouth clamped down on hers. His need was as great as hers. His lips roamed over hers, and the desire that had simmered all evening blew up, much like a fiery volcano.

Stacy ran her hands over his arms and relished the way his muscles bunched under the tips of her fingers. Her arms locked around his neck while her mouth was glued to his. His tongue darted in to taste every crevice.

Stacy didn’t hold back anything. She poured every emotion that she experienced into the kiss. It was important to let him know how important he was.

His fingers fiddled with the buttons on her shirt. When it opened, he ran his fingers over her taut stomach and the ripple of desire skipped over every inch of her skin. His hands slipped behind her back to open her bra. Lifting the flimsy garment, he touched her breasts. Suddenly, she couldn’t wait anymore. Stacy wanted him immediately.

She stepped back and took off her shirt and bra. The sight of her naked torso made his eyes widen, but he mimicked her movements and took off his shirt. His muscles gleamed in the light. Stacy gulped, as she opened her jeans and slid them down. He did the same. Naked, they stared at each other. Every fiber in her body shivered in anticipation, as she looked down at his cock. The blood-engorged organ gleamed in the soft light.

Stacy dropped on the floor and took it in her hand. Her finger flicked over the tip of his penis and the organ throbbed in response. She leaned forward to take it in her mouth. He gasped when she cupped his balls and then took his cock all the way inside her mouth. The hard organ fit perfectly, and she closed her mouth to grasp it. For a moment, neither of them moved a muscle.

Stacy rubbed his balls. He groaned and threw back his head. His hips arched forward, and his penis slid deeper inside her throat. She rocked back and forth. One of her hands slipped up his butt and she cupped it. When her nails dug into his flesh, she felt his muscles vibrate, but he was too far gone to care much. In and out, his penis moved. Stacy lavished all her attention on it. She gripped his butt to keep him prisoner while she sucked and fondled his cock. Her pussy vibrated in response. Juices leaked down and moistened her velvety center. Just as she thought he was about to come, he pulled out.

Baffled, she stared at him. Sweat gleamed on his forehead. He gripped her arms and raised her. Before she could understand what was going on, he carried her to the bed, lowered her down on it, and turned her around. Then, he grabbed her butt and raised it high up. Stacy put her head down on the bed and clenched the bed sheets just as he slid his hard cock right inside her. Stacy let out a moan, as he throbbed within her moist depths.

“Marco,” she cried out while he pushed down harder into her.

Something vibrated deep within her. The storm of sensations that poured through her veins gripped her hard. Pleasure skipped through her nerves, much like hot lava. There was no time to think. She was overwhelmed with the sensations that careened through her. Her breath hitched in her throat, and she let out a moan.

He pulled out his cock, and she glanced between her legs to see his huge, shiny cock that was covered in her juices. As she watched, he pushed back in. Pleasure was a fiery force inside her body. It drove through her veins and made her oblivious to everything except the waves of sensations that demanded release. Stacy swayed on the edge of the sharp precipice. Although she wanted this ride to end, Stacy wanted it to go on forever.

He gripped her butt and pushed hard into her. Her sheath stretched and expanded to take him in. Everything else faded into the background as she concentrated on finding pleasure. Her hips moved in time with his rhythm. His cock slapped into her again and again. His balls hung down and rubbed into her pussy. He slapped her on her butt. The sharp sting of his hand only added to the pleasure that she experienced. As she moaned, he did slapped her butt again.

Stacy moaned, as the orgasm ripped through her. It coursed through her veins and muscles and gripped her in its fiery embrace. As she struggled to get her breath back, he exploded inside her pussy. Since he impaled her on his cock, she couldn’t move. All she could do was take deep breaths to steady her nerves. Finally, he pulled out and collapsed on the bed. Stacy turned back to look at him. His eyes were closed and his breathing was steady, but she was quite aware that he was wide awake.

Rather than talk, she chose to walk into the bathroom. When she walked out, he was nestled in between the bed sheets and the lights were off. She took a place next to him. His arm sneaked out to curve around her waist, and he drew her closer.

“That was something wild.” He rubbed his lips on her shoulders. “It keeps getting better and better.”

She inhaled the scent of his cologne. It felt good to fit right into his arms. She belonged here. With Marco, she felt complete, whole. There was no fear and no sense of repercussions. She could be herself and not worry that he wouldn’t like what she did or what she said. “If it gets any better, I might just die from the sweet agony of it.”

He ran a hand over her nipples, and they vibrated. “I was thinking…perhaps we should go away for a short trip.”

She raised her head to look at him. “Away? Where?”

“For a weekend holiday?”

“Any place in mind?”

“Cape Cod?” he questioned. “I have a cottage there on the beach.”

“It seems like a nice idea,” she said. Stacy tried to imagine what it would be like to travel with him. It would definitely be interesting. When traveling with someone, that was the best time to understand that person and get to know the real him. “We can do it.”

“Great. I will make arrangements. Just let me know which weekend suits you.”

“Not this weekend. I’ve to attend a friend’s baby shower, but I am free next weekend.”

“So am I then.”

Silence reigned in the room, as they both tried to marshal their thoughts. She rubbed her thumb over the skin of his arm. “Won’t your boss have a problem if you take off during this troublesome period?” she asked.

“Weekends are my mine. I learned long ago that the key to a healthy, successful life is to make it balanced. Sometimes I go fishing also.”

“No.” She gasped. “Oh, dear.”

“What?”

“I…can’t stand that particular activity. Hours of sitting on the boat and not doing anything. Went once with a group of friend in college and I was ready to dive off into the water and swim for the shore. If we weren’t miles out in the ocean, I would have tried that.”

He nibbled on her shoulders. Pleasure careened through her veins at his gentle touch. “That’s a serious problem then. I love to fish. What are we going to do about it?”

“How often do you go?”

“Every two months. My friend Simon goes with me. Usually it’s a three day trip.”

“I suppose I could live with that—as long as you don’t require me to come with you.”

“I won’t,” he promised. “Anything else that you don’t like?”

“What about gambling? Do you indulge in that?”

“I’ve always hated to play with money.”

“Alcohol?” she questioned in a serious voice.

“As much as you have seen. I don’t get drunk.”

She kissed him on the mouth. “Well, that’s alright then. I think we might actually have a future together.”

“Finally something optimistic,” he teased.

“Don’t you have anything to ask of me?”

He nibbled on her arm. “You’re just perfect the way you are. I have no problems.”

“Come on. I can’t be perfect.”

“But you are.”

She didn’t have any more words. How could the man tell her that she didn’t have any flaws? Perhaps he was trying to flatter her—and it damned well worked. As she played with his hair, Stacy closed her eyes. It wouldn’t be too long before he told her a hundred things she could improve on. Most often than not, men were never pleased with a woman as she was. And if she wasn’t hypocritical, she had to admit that women also loved to find flaws in men. Marco wasn’t perfect; she knew that. But he was, perhaps, perfect for her. Sure, they both had their rough edges, but they fit together—and that was all that mattered.

Stacy wasn’t quite sure when she fell asleep while she thought about such things. When she woke up in the morning, he wasn’t in the bed. She sat and stretched and then got off the bed. She took out her clothes from the bag and walked into the bathroom. After a quick shower, she dressed and walked out of the room.

Still, there was no sign of Marco. Perhaps he left early in the morning. Stacy picked up her bag. She debated calling him but then decided to leave a message instead. Clutching her phone, she strode out and saw him in the kitchen.

He was making breakfast. She stopped short at the delightful sight of the tall, handsome man who was naked from the waist up. He flipped a pancake and then looked up. “Hey. Good morning.”

“Hi.” She dumped her purse on the chair and leaned over the counter to give him a kiss on his lips. “Good morning. I thought you left.”

“Why would I go out of the house when there is a beautiful woman in my bed whom I can look at? I thought it would be nice to make breakfast. Didn’t want you to leave on an empty stomach.”

“I usually just grab a banana, apple, or a yogurt, but since you have gone to so much trouble, I will sit and eat this delicious pancake that will going straight to my hips.”

“And it would look so perfect,” he muttered.

“You’re a big flatterer.” He poured her a cup of coffee and gave her the pancake. She drowned it in maple syrup and dug in. “Do you have this for breakfast every morning?”

“Bacon. Sausages. Eggs or pancakes. I also have a bowl of fruit.”

“That’s a lot of food right in the morning.”

“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you eat well in the morning, you will have more energy throughout the day. I learned it all when I joined the gym ten years ago,” he said.

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

“But I will be happy to stock up on fruit and yogurt for your next visit which I hope will be soon. Were you comfortable last night?”

“Yeah, sure. You have a big bed, and you don’t hog the blankets.”

“I aim to please.”

She smiled as she ate the pancake. He wasn’t bad in the kitchen, and it seemed he didn’t have any issues cooking for her. “So what are your plans for today?”

“This and that,” he said. “I will go in and someone will brief me. Unless there is an emergency, I’ll sit behind a desk and order supplies or call up people and put the fear of God in them.”

She shook her head. “I wish I could do that to some of our suppliers. We’ve been trying to track this guy who sold us fake soap bars a year ago, and he has completely eluded us. Good thing it wasn’t my decision to change the supplier or else I might have lost my job over it, but it is my responsibility for some reason to track him down.”

“Have you gone to the police?”

“Of course we have, but it’s such a low priority job that they are not paying much attention.”

“Give me some details, and I will see what I can do.” She laughed, picked up her plate and cup, and walked over to the sink. He took them from her hand and did it himself. After he stacked them in the dishwasher, he turned to face her. “I am serious.”
