The scene shifted again to a few years later, and Emily watched as her sister was rude and degrading to people like Emily.  Emily continued to watch as each scene flashed until they stopped at Sasha and Mark meeting.  Emily froze as she watched the scene where Mark rejected Sasha and she watched as
Victoria
became Jay’s mate.  The pain she felt when she saw this
made her pale, and
Myra
wanted to stop the scenes, but there was one last scene she needed to see.

“Oh, no,” Emily muttered as she watched the last scene.

Myra
explained, “Without you there, Sasha became unruly and conceited.  She started to hang out with the wrong crowd, the wrong werewolves so that when she met Mark although they were mates, he did not accept her.  Her parents were not the happy couple they are now because they could not help her.  Also without you, Jay mated with
Victoria
and as you can see, she was not what the pack needed.”

Emily was pale as she asked, “All this happened because I did not survive?”

“When they found you although you were human, there was something about you that they both loved.  Sasha and you connected from the moment you met, and you being human helped Sasha to understand the
concept of other species other
then werewolves.  You made an impact on their lives so when Sasha met Mark they connected in the right way.
  As for Jay…”

Emily interrupted here, “But
Victoria
is not Jay’s mate and if I had not survived that would not have changed.”

Myra nodded her head, “Correct, but
Victoria
was taught to go after what she wanted like her mother before her.”  She looked at Emily as she said, “
Victoria
was taught to use black magic to entice men to her.  She chose
Arnold
first because his mate died, but she was attracted to Jay so she made sure to keep him close to her.  After Arnold marked her though she let it go until Jay had gain his reasoning back, and once he met you she had no more power over him.  She does not see that in her belief that he will always want her.”

Emily turned around to look at her, and then they were back into the field of flowers.

“If I never wake up, what happens to them?” she asked quietly.

“Jay will not accept Victoria, but Victoria may not take kindly to that,”
Myra
answered honestly.
  There was silence then
Myra
said quietly, “You need to wake up for him.
Victoria
is plotting to see Jay thinking that once he sees her, then he will accept her as his mate.”

Emily did not understand that as Victoria already had a mate, but
Myra
explained, “
Arnold
found his true second mate which boots Victoria out so she has decided to latch back on to Jay.  She does not know that Jay is handing off the Alpha position to Mark”
Myra
watched the smile cross Emily’s face, “which I see does not upset you.”

Emily shook her head at her comment.

“Sasha will need you to help her when the time comes,”
Myra
replied.

Then
Myra
said bluntly, “You are special, Emily, and that is why you were chosen for Jay’s mate.  Right now, your body is making changes due to his marking you and his blood running through you due to the transfusions.”

“Marked me?” Emily asked confused, “I thought…”

“It was a dream,”
Myra
finished for her, “It was in a way, but it will be more later on.  He will still need to mark you when you wake up and I suggest that the marking should happen at the same time that you two mate.”

She laughed as Emily blushed at her comment.

“Emily, you will be a
mate most worthy of Jay
and he will choose no other but
you,”
Myra
said confidently.

Then she began to disappear, and Emily heard the last thing she said, “It is time for you to wake up, Emily, and Victoria is already making her plans to get herself invited to dinner in two nights.  What do you plan on doing, Emily?”

Emily smiled slightly to herself as the Old One disappeared.  Her family needed her and so did her mate, the one male that has ever looked at her and made her feel things she never felt before.  She was not going to give that up.

The room was dark as Jay let himself quietly into the room.  He was tired after a long day and he was glad that
Victoria
had left before he got home.  He sighed deeply as he took off his shirt, and he was about to take off his pants when he froze.  There was a difference in the room
although he did not understand it.

“Jay,” a voice whispered, and he could not help the gasp that escaped as he quickly switched on the light.

“Emily!” he said loudly stunned as he watched his mate blink her eyes at the brightness of the light.

Chapter 19

Jay stared as Emily closed her eyes briefly before she slowly opened them again to adjust them to the light of the room.  Damn, he thought to himself, another dream.  He was about to turn out the light when he heard her voice.

“Jay,” he heard and this time it was a little louder although it was hoarse from not being used.  “Emily,” he croaked as his body froze where he stood.  He slowly turned so he could look at her.  Her eyes had adjusted to the light and she turned her head to look at him.  Her eyes glowed as the amber hue in them eclipsed the brown and she smiled before asking hoarsely, “Can I have some water, please?”

He nodded his head jerkily as he went into the bathroom to fill up the cup that was kept in there.  He looked into the mirror over the sink noticing the look of shock on his face, but the feeling of excitement began to stir in him especially when she smiled at him like that with such warmth.

“Please do not let this be a dream,” he whispered softly as he headed back into the bedroom.

The minute he walked into the room, he knew that it was not a dream for Emily was trying to sit herself up, but he could see the grimace of pain that crossed her face as she forced herself up.

“Easy sweetheart,” he said rushing over to her.  He stopped himself from snatching her into his arms as he helped her into a sitting position.

“Thank you,” she muttered a
nd he saw the frown that crossed her face.  He chuckled quietly and she threw him a narrowed look before her mouth lifted into a smile.  He could not help himself in leaning down to lightly peck her lips with his before he pulled back to hand her the glass of water.

She took a long sip before he told her, “Slowly, honey.”

She took his advice as she beg
an to sip slowly until the water
was gone.  She sighed as she lowered the glass and he took it from her to place it on the nightstand next to the bed.

“How are you feeling?” he asked grabbing her hand.

“Sore,” she admitted with a grimace.

He laughed as he lightly played with her hand, “That is to be expected since you have been bedridden for almost a month.  Your body needs to move around, exercise and get back in shape.”

“Great,” she muttered wearily.  She sat there watching there hands as he continued to play with her hand then she sighed heavily.

“Did you really mark me?” she whispered quietly.  She glanced at him quickly,
“I mean, I remember dreaming about you and I in my wild flower field, but…”

Jay nodded his head as he said softly, “Let me show you.”  He lifted her up gently after a slight hesitation in which he waited for her permission then he carried her to the bathroom.  He carefully sat her on the counter and turned her slightly to let her look in the mirror.  She glanced at him hesitating before turning back to the mirror and she slowly lowered her nightgown until she gasped at the mark on her left side below her collar bone.  She traced it with her fingers, “Beautiful” she breathed.

“I think so,”
he replied and she turned around to look at his mark which she had only just seen.

“May I?” she asked and he looked at her puzzled wondering what she meant.  She lifted her hand and like what she did with her own mark, she traced her hand gently over the one below his co
llar bone.  He drew in a breath
as her touch ignited a fire in his blood and he hel
d himself still while she traced
their mark.

“Sorry,” she murmured when she realized how tense he was.  He shook his head gently as he folded his arms around her and pulled her tightly into his body.

“You do not need to apologize,” he said huskily and Emily sighed as she relaxed against him.

Then she started to feel grimy
and she asked, “Can I take a shower?  I feel so dirty.”

He hugged her a little tighter before he let her go, “Your wish is my command.”  He made sure she was comfortable on the counter before he started the water for a bath.

“A bath first so that you can soak your muscles then a shower,” he explained as he saw her look of confusion.  She titled her head to the side and then she smiled, “Sounds good to me.”

After the bath was filled, he left her alone after telling her to let him know if she needed help
.  The minute the bathroom door was closed; Jay headed out of their bedroom and headed downstairs to his father’s office.

He knocked on the door and walked inside at his father’s “come in”.

“Jay,” Stan began then stopped as he saw the look in his son’s eyes.  He was almost out of his seat when Jay said with a smile, “Emily is awake.”

“How is she?” he asked as he lowered himself back down into the seat his shock was reflected on his face.

“Sore, but she is taking a bath at the moment.  I do not want to be too long away from the room, but I thought I should let you know,” Jay said with a smile.  He turned to leave the room but he stopped at the doo
r, “Dad, it is late so
let

s wait until tomorrow to let everyone know about her waking up.”  Stan agreed with this statement as he watched his son walk out of the office.  He leaned back in his chair as a smile crossed his face for he saw the lightness in his son’s step and the gleam in his eyes.

As Jay went back up to his room, Mark and Sasha were still awake in their room.

“Mark, what is wrong?” Sasha asked as she sat up in bed.  “You have been awake for the last hour and I can tell something is bothering you.”

Mark looked over at her and he sighed as he switched on the light next to the bed, and he sat up next to her.  He grabbed her hand as he began, “Jay wants to give up the Alpha position to me and they are waiting for my answer.”

Sasha sat there stun as he told her this.  She looked into Mark’s eyes golden eyes and she felt the usual tingles
she felt since the first time their eyes met.

“Mark,” she said hesitatingly, “Do you want the position?”

She did not even have to hear his answer as his eyes spoke for him.  Mark lit up with excitement and they glimmered with a bright light.  She smiled before she said, “You do not need to say anything for your eyes told me that you would like it more than anything.”

“Except for you,” he corrected her.

“You already have me,” Sasha commented and Mark laughed.  He looked at her again and he asked, “Would you be okay with that decision though, Sasha?”

Sasha looked at him for a moment before her eyes br
ightened as she said, “If that
is what you want, then I will stand beside you.”

“Thank you,” he said drawing her into his arms.  Then he whispered, “You will make an awesome Alpha Female.”  His hand reached out to switch out the light.

Sasha whispered, “We need to finish talking.”

Mark was drawing her down to the bed, “We will, but not right now.”  That was the last thing they spoke for the rest of the night.

Emily soaked into the bath until the water turned cold on her, but as she stood up her muscles felt looser although they were still sore.  She drained the water and turned on the shower
as she let the water run down her body.  She washed her body with the body wash Jay had brought her and she lathered her hair until every strand was coated with shampoo then she rinsed her hair and body standing underneath the shower head until it turned cold on her too.  She quickly turned off the water and grabbing a towel she stepped out.  She dried herself quickly as she felt her muscles began to let go.  She wrapped the towel around her as she called out, “Jay.”

He was there not even two seconds later assisting her from the shower and helping her into the bedroom where he sat her on the bed.

“Feel better,” he asked as he sat behind her drying her hair with the extra towel he grabbed before leaving the bathroom.

“Yes although I wish I did not feel so weak,” she said closing her eyes as he continued to dry her hair.
