An excited murmur arose. “That is not the Zonian way,” the birdlike speaker said.

“Only because your males are weak.” Jaro puffed up his chest and flexed. “I am not like them, and I have bested 173

Intentional Abduction – Eve Langlais the warrior known as Aylia, and will fight any who think to take her from me.”

“Bested?”

He quickly regretted his choice of words when his fiery princess turned her glare onto him, and even more when her fist hit his diaphragm, making him almost gasp aloud.

“Are you so sure, Jarokaluan, that you are the victor?” smirked the Zonian.

“Fine. We are equals. Almost. But it doesn’t matter who is stronger, because I love Aylia, temper and all.” Aylia’s face melted into a smile that would have seen him face a thousand Zonian warriors.

The beady eyed one narrowed her gaze. “Truly?”

“For now and ever.”

Disgusted snorts filled the clearing, and weapons shifted in restless claws. Jaro wondered how long before he’d die. He drew Aylia into his arms, determined to hug her one last time, though, before death.

A rope suddenly dropped from the sky in front of him along with a hollered, “Hold on tight, cousin. We’ve come to rescue you!”

Jaro wound the cord around his forearm while his other arm snaked around Aylia’s waist. But she’d already wrapped her legs around his waist and grabbed a hold of the 174

Intentional Abduction – Eve Langlais rope as well. They lifted in the sky while spears and knives whistled through the air around them.

“Nice family,” he said sarcastically.

His princess giggled, not at all concerned it seemed.

“Oh please. They obviously approve or we’d have never left the ground.”

As if to reinforce that claim, Jaro heard the Zonian who’d addressed them yell, “If it’s a daughter, bring her back and I will train her myself. And take care of her, warrior, lest I hunt you down and rip your organs out one by one.”

“I love you too, Pantariste,” Aylia cried. “Say goodbye to my sisters.”

The air around them grew chill and the rain of weapons slowed, then stopped. The rope in his grip jerked as it got reeled in. Moments later, he and Aylia found themselves aboard the small lander from his ship.

The purple idiots grinned, quite pleased with themselves, and for once, Jaro couldn’t find fault, not with Aylia at his side for the rest of eternity.

As if sensing his regard, she turned to smile at him, and he hard Xarn groan. “Oh for frukx’s sake, they’re about to go at it again.”

They did, a quick bout where he held her up against the lander’s wall. Then again when they reached his quarters.

Epilogue

Aylia rubbed her small, rounded belly as she walked with Megan. Her new friend waddled everywhere she went, so huge had her midsection become. “You’re sure this is normal?”

“One hundred percent. Humans, the poor women, at least, get to carry these gi-normous babies around for nine months, um, something like two hundred and sixty galactic cycles, if I remember my math right.”

“And then they come out of…” Aylia tossed a skeptical look down at the V between her thighs. “I think I’d prefer to fight a gaggle of Ihno raptors again. The Zonians have it so much easier with the eggs they lay.”

“I can’t argue with you there.” Megan sighed ruefully.

“But at least I’m almost done. Ooh look, here come our boys, and they’ve brought Curly and Moe with them.”

“Who?” Aylia asked, looking around but she saw only Jaro and his brother escorting the two cousins who’d just returned from a supply trip.

“Never mind.” Megan stuck her fingers in her mouth and let out a shrill whistle. “Did you bring me any presents?” she shouted.

177

Intentional Abduction – Eve Langlais The males broke into a jog, and approached carrying bundles, the first of which Brax handed to Megan with a flourish. “For you, gorgeous.”

She tore it open eagerly. “Oooh, baby clothes,” Megan cooed as she held up garments much too small to fit anything living. Then again…looking at her friend’s rounded belly, Aylia didn’t want to imagine it getting any bigger. Her stomach might burst.

“Come here, you two.” Megan tugged Brax and Xarn down for a smacking kiss on the cheek that made them grin at Tren, who scowled.

“Must you do that?” he growled.

“Yes, because it’s not like my mate has been bringing me any presents lately.”

Tren’s eyes widened. “Because you strictly forbade me to leave because of the approaching birth.”

“And a good thing too because I’ve seen the alien movies. The chances are good this gigantic child is going to chew its way through my abdomen.”

It would? Aylia felt sick until she saw the wink Megan shot her. She relaxed, and then had to stifle a giggle when Tren, with a thunderous expression, swung his mate into his arms and marched off, their voices raised in argument.

Nobody paid them any mind. The pair always left when they 178

Intentional Abduction – Eve Langlais fought, and Aylia had finally clued in as to why. She could see the merits.

As if sensing the direction of her thoughts, Jaro folded her into his arms and kissed her, his touch, as usual, igniting a fire within her that soon had her sighing in his clasp.

“Get a room,” Brax exclaimed.

“No, wait, get naked and do it again.” Aylia caught Xarn in the gut and he bent over wheezing. She then clocked him on the head. She turned to see Brax staggering back while Jaro stared at him ferociously.

“So made for each other,” Xarn gasped.

“Disgustingly so,” Brax agreed.

Jaro shot her a fierce grin, crooked his arm, and inclined his head. “Shall we, my fiery princess?”

“Only if you catch me,” she sassed before she took off running, still quick on her feet despite the babe in her belly. As usual, since the moment she’d intentionally abducted him, he caught her, but she no longer minded.

She’d abandoned the Zonian way for something better, a wonderful thing called love.

Several galactic cycles later, in a galaxy, far, far away…

179

Intentional Abduction – Eve Langlais Brax nodded at Xarn before they dove through the last doorway of the pirate vessel they’d commandeered. Not their usual fare, but they’d gotten a tip the ship carried a fortune in treasure, and since the fiasco on Keltryn nine, they found themselves in need of credits since their own reserves were frozen pending an investigation.

Standing side by side, the half-brothers stared in disbelief at the at least two dozen faces peering at them, children by the size of them. All except for one that was.

Short and curvy, wearing naught but a rag that did nothing to hide a luscious amount of curves, with her brown hair pinned atop her head in an untidy mess, the human female brandished a metal bar at them.

“Stand back, you—you mangy aliens before I, um, hurt you?” She ended her threat on a questioning note, her bottom lip sucked in so she could chew at it worriedly. A prettier—more cock-hardening—sight had never been witnessed within the known galaxy.

As with one mind, and one voice, Brax and Xarn shouted, “Mine! Called it.”

And from that short declaration, their careful raid devolved into a lusty fist fight.

Intentional Abduction – Eve Langlais
Author Biography

So you want to know a little about me? Well, I'm in my later thirties, married eleven years to a wonderful, supportive man—yes, he's a hunk—who gave me three beautiful, noisy children aged ten, seven, and five. I work as a webmistress and customer service rep from home, and in my spare time—of which there is tragically too little—I write, read, or Wii.

I was born in British Columbia, but being a military brat lived a little bit everywhere—Quebec, New Brunswick, Labrador, Virginia (USA), and finally Ontario. My family and I currently reside in the historic town of Bowmanville, about an hour or so out of Toronto.

Wow, was that ever boring! Now for the fun stuff.

I'm writing fantasy the way I like it—hot with a touch of fantasy. I enjoy writing stories that blur the boundaries between good and evil, and in some cases stomp all over that fine line. I tend to have a lot of sexual tension in my tales as I think all torrid love affairs start with a tingle in our tummies. My heroes are very male; you could even say borderline chest thumping at times, but they all have one thing in common. An everlasting love and devotion to the one they love.
