“Nope.”

“You have this ability to make women weak and beg for you,” she informed him, tilting her head to the side while he could feel her breath on his mouth. Veronica moved closer, their lips almost touched. He pulled quickly away ripping his tie out her hand.

“I don’t think so, Veronica.”

He shot to his feet to move away from her not needing any woman to interfere in his life, unless she was called Sophie Richards and then with her he had to walk very carefully.

He moved quickly around to the other side of his desk longing to keep distance between them, not that he didn’t trust himself.

Calvin noticed Veronica glaring at him.

“For goodness sake, Calvin, you will become a virgin again at this rate,” she hissed.

“Sounds good to me. Now I have work to be getting on with unless you have come regarding a business matter, then please leave,” he replied sharp not being in the mood.

She stood up pulling her dress down that barely covered the top of her thighs. She made a slow trip around the oak table walking closer to him.

“Why are you punishing yourself like this?” she inquired standing before him.

“Veronica, I’m not in the mood for a relationship. I have a million and one things to be getting on with. I need to get back home for the weekend. So please leave,” he told her sternly.

“Who mentioned a relationship?” she teased. “I just want to have a wild passionate night with you. Our naked bodies pressing together hot and horny, divulging in the finer things in life enjoying the taste of your arousal.”

He swallowed hard.

“Have you met someone?” She glared directly into his eyes tensing her body.

“No.”

“That is a lie…who is she?”

She made him feel uncomfortable.

“I haven’t met anyone…and even if I had it has nothing to do with you. Now, please give me breathing space and leave,” he snapped, managing to move away from her without touching. Calvin quickly stormed back to his office chair.

“You have, who is she?” Veronica followed him back to his desk, stalking him.

“I haven’t met anyone,” he argued back, he gulped, suffering a serious painful ache in his stomach. All he could picture was Sophie, her stunning smile, God he needed her by his side right now.

“Oh come on, I wasn’t born yesterday. Who is she? And I know you’re lying you have a sparkle in your eyes, so she must be doing something right,” Veronica winked.

He watched her sit on the edge of his desk once again, lifting her leg up having the skirt rise up her thigh. He wagged his brows, wishing she was Sophie, sensing he would take her then and there without hesitations. He would sprawl her across the desk without hesitation. His manhood started reacting, throbbing to the possible thought of Sophie and how much he craved to be close holding her tight.

“I haven’t met anyone,” he quickly responded, needing to stop his mind drifting and concentrate on what was required of him. He returned to his laptop lifting the screen and saw his endless amount of e-mails urgently needing to get on as time ticked. How he wished Sophie wasn’t playing havoc on his heart. He just wished the circumstances around Sophie were different, yet, still a massive amount of guilt lingered inside him and until that had disbursed, he had no chance.

“You are a pathetic liar.”

Calvin hitched his brows. She smiled tilting her head to the side in cheek.

“I will try not to be jealous,” she added wagging her brows.

“I have told you I haven’t met no-one and I have no intentions of being with anyone,” he grumbled.

“Why is that? Turned gay?” She mocked climbing off his desk. He lifted his head from his mails, he really wasn’t concentrating on, how could he with her in the office? Seductively he saw her sway her hips from one side to the other. She walked to the other side of the room with the large Georgian bay window.

“And if I had, what would it have to do with you?” he teased.

Veronica turned around to glare at him.

“Darling, it would have everything to do with me. I would be gutted, but then again, it sounds like you’re fighting your feeling toward this woman, whom you have clearly fallen in love with and scared to admit. You know how crazy I am about you Calvin and you know I would do anything for you, and if I have competition what is the likeliness of me winning?” She asked slowly walking back toward him.

“There is no-one,” he denied yet again.

How could he confess to loving Sophie, with all that had been happening? There was still a long road to go and he still unsure how he felt about Sabastian.

“Am I right in thinking this sounds complicated?” She asked calmly.

Veronica edged her way back around the desk as he stood up, wanting to keep as much distance between them as possible, not that he didn’t trust himself, it was her. She sat in his leather chair, twiddling with her fingers.

“What makes you think that?” He gulped concerned.

“I can tell, you’re thinking hard and the frown on your face is telling me you don’t wish to talk about her. I get your avoiding the topic, must be hard you living in London and her up in York. Unless of course she moves down here.” She lifted her brows.

Calvin had never thought about their living arrangements, there was no-way he could expect Sophie to move down here, especially with Kacey, not only that wouldn’t be good for her with all the pollution and …
I have Sabastian to consider
. He might not have met his son, but Sophie had the connection and dragging her away to make his life easier would not be an option. He wanted to hit his head against the wall, scream aloud with all the problems that kept occurring. Calvin wondered if there would ever be a way out the drama that kept unfolding.

“Not possible,” he muttered.

“Ah, so there is a woman,” she scoffed, “I knew I would get it out of you.”

Calvin could scream. He tried to shake the thought of Sophie away, but she was like an addiction and wouldn’t go away, then again…did he really wish her too? He ran his fingers through his hair, unable to breathe, his chest tight restricting his airways, his heart beat double time, while butterflies fluttered around in his tummy. He had tried years to fight his feelings of getting closer to a female since Sophie all those years ago. He ached in organs that he had re-discovered since having her back in his life.

“So why can she not move here?” Veronica asked.

He lifted his head up to glare at Veronica, “There is nothing to discuss,” he exclaimed. Swiftly he moved to the office door. He opened the door.

“Are you kicking me out?” She glared at him.

“Looks that way. I have many things to be doing and discussing my private life has nothing to do with you,” he growled.

He wanted her out the office with immediate effect. He watched her walk toward him. She placed her finger on his cheek smoothly she ran her finger tip from his brow down to his lips.

“You are one fucked up man, I suggest you get help, either that or fuck her…” she stipulated.

Calvin turned away from the foul language of the woman, unable to bring himself to look at her. She disgusted him at times with her crude words, he never liked such unpleasant words coming out a female’s voice.

Veronica left. He slammed the door behind her. His heart shattered into pieces.

He slowly made his way back to his chair. He slumped into the chair allowing it to swallow him up. His lungs killed in pain, fearing a headache would soon approach with the stress. He threw his body forward, placing his head in his hands, shaking, and quite frankly he would confess that the last few nights he’d hardly slept due to thinking about Sophie. She was all he craved. He wanted to be back by her side.

Calvin wanted to touch and taste her, compress their bodies together, twined in love and passion, flicking his tongue all over her body, enjoying, caressing, exploring her contours of her delicate skin. He would gaze deeply into her brown eyes lose himself in such desire. He’d press his lips against hers…and pause for as long as he could. He bet she was sensational and who better than to share the most intimate, gentle time together.

He slammed his fists against the desk. Bile filled his throat…the ache in his stomach hurt. His mind wasn’t his own. He could feel sweat pouring from his brow.

Calvin had to stop what he had been doing his concentration level had gone…

“Damn you, Veronica,” he shouted annoyed, if she hadn’t been inquisitive to his trip up north, he wouldn’t have thought about her and now…he closed his eyes. A tremble shook through his body like on the verge of coming down with a virus, limbs aching, and shoulders dropping.

He glanced at the clock being sure Ross wouldn’t be too far out the city. He decided to call him. He had every intentions of wanting to meet Ross at Kings Cross it would help take his mind of a certain woman who he lusted over…no begging to be with. The thought of her not calling this evening broke his heart. He had told her that Ross would be arriving making him busy…he deeply regretted saying that.

Once he made the call to Ross, with him not being far away from the capital. He decided to make the journey to the station. The place typically busy, like always, people rushing about with suitcases, others being tourists or suits trying to catch their links. Kings Cross had undergone construction improving the rail station with a large steel roof described as
‘like some kind of reverse waterfall

.
The large steel grid swooped down to the ground over your head creating a unique new station. He glanced around the area at the shops, bars, and restaurants wondering if he had time to grab a coffee.

First he stared up at the screen to find out which platform Ross would arrive on and what time. Calvin stood waiting close to the gate, not being allowed on the platform unless had a ticket. He saw a woman walking with a pram, his thoughts wondered to Sophie pushing Kacey around, he bet she couldn’t wait, just seeing her smiling with joy, pushing her tiny little bundle around the city, being so proud.

He inhaled a deep breath, sensing he was in trouble and bad. He could see it was going to be impossible not to think of Sophie? He had no idea how to overcome his thoughts, but he would try.

“Now that looks like a man with the world on his shoulders,” Ross mocked.

Calvin turned his head to see Ross casually dressed, wearing jeans and a shirt tucked in and his brown hair shorter holding a holdall.

“Hey, how are you?” Calvin asked, putting his right hand out to extend to take a firm handshake. They both shook firmly followed by a hard firm man hug, slapping one another on the shoulder. Delighted to see his friend any distraction from Sophie would be welcome at the moment.

Calvin took the lead to the taxi rank making their way through the crowds trying not to be knocked over. They arrived outside the clouds threatening rain the air much cooler than previous days.

The journey to his apartment they talked mostly about Ross’s trip, easing his heart somewhat, but eager to get on a topic he longed to hear about, Sophie.
Give it a rest brain…but…grrr!

They soon arrived to his apartment where Calvin showed him into the spare bedroom where he’d be staying in. He told the cleaner to make sure the room had her full attention wanting it immaculate for his guest, she never failed him.

Calvin sat in the lounge waiting for his friend to emerge out his room. He held his head in his hands thinking about Sophie, how every hour not being by her side killed him.

“The guest room is fantastic,” Ross mentioned entering the lounge.

Calvin lifted his head from out his hands to gaze into his friends eyes. “Good, I’m delighted you like it.”

He stood to immediately walk into the kitchen to make them a welcoming drink. He entered the kitchen knowing Ross followed. Calvin made them a quick brew.

“So the room is good?”

“Yeah, fantastic, you earn far too much,” he mocked.

Calvin laughed. “No doubt I do, but I’m glad you like it.”

“This place is amazing,” Ross remarked, wandering around walking back into the lounge. It had been quite some time since Ross had visited the place, and since his last visit Calvin had the place re-decorated and modernised.

“Yeah, it’s okay,” he said, taking his cuppa through into the lounge to find Ross sitting down on his comfy cream sofa with scatter cushions, something he picked up of his Mum, as she loved having cushions all over the place.

“Why don’t you sound convincing?” Ross inquired, reaching forward to take his drink from Calvin.

He sat down to Ross’s right sinking into the sofa, placing his right foot onto his left knee.

“It’s fine, it suffice…expensive. I mean for the limited time that I’m here, it hardly seems worth it, may as well get something closer to work, or use the store cupboard for my bedroom,” he mocked.

“Life that bad,” Ross scoffed.

Calvin turned to glance at him. “Life is grand…the joys of being a bachelor, it’s amazing. I mean you’re one too,” he thought to bring up.

“That I am, but then to be honest, women have never been something for me to worry myself with. As you know I’m very dedicated to my work, I don’t have much time for dating or trying to find a perfect match for me, who will take into consideration my job.”
