Chapter 19: Laci

The two weeks before my wedding quickly turned into a week and a couple of days. In just a short period of time, I was going to be married. Saying that shit to myself didn’t sound right, nor did it feel right. It was mostly because I was marrying someone I didn’t have any romantic feelings for. The doubt started to weigh down on my shoulders and it was becoming too much. I haven’t talked to Nazi and it wasn’t because I haven’t reached out either. She was ignoring me. Since I didn’t have a cellphone, I went to the store to get a house phone. I would call her and the phone would ring once before it went to voicemail. Knowing her, she probably blocked my number. I really needed her at this point, not even to talk; I just needed her to be there.

Going into work was pointless, so for the past couple of days, I have just been staying home and trying to get myself together. It wasn’t working because all I did was drink wine and eat. Food seemed to be the only thing that would make me feel better about my decision. I talked to Shirley every other day and she would always bring up how happy my biological mother was when she told her about me wanting to meet up with her. From the way Shirley was talking, everything seemed so promising. I was going to fight it out because my biological mother was worth it.

I picked up my phone to try and call Nazi one last time, even though I knew she wasn’t going to answer it. Just like I thought, it went straight to voicemail. I grabbed my Talenti ice cream from out the freezer and slammed the door, only to turn around and be meant by those beautiful black eyes I fell in love with.

“This can’t be real,” I whispered, sticking my hand out and trying to touch his face.

“Laci, put yo fucking hand down,” he spat, slapping my hand away. That right there let me know this was reality.

“Gunz, what the hell are you doing in my house? Matter of fact, how didn’t I hear you come in?”

“I’m a ninja and I have a key,” he smirked.

“Gunz, what are you doing here? Didn’t you read the note that I left you? We can’t do this.”

“I didn’t read that shit because it wasn’t filled with nothing but lies. You mean to tell me you’re not happy to see yo nigga.” He cocked his head to side and looked at me through squinted eyes.

“I’m not saying I’m not happy to see you; what I’m saying is I already signed away my life and you weren’t part of the deal,” I sighed.

Gunz picked me up, sat me on the island, and snatched the ice cream out my hand and threw it back in the freezer.

“Do I look like I give a fuck about you signing some deal because I don’t. The only thing I care about is your fucking happiness. If you can tell me you’re happy right now, I will walk away from you forever.”

He was standing in between my legs with his hands placed on my hips. Just having him this close to me had me feeling better already. I thought about lying and quickly nixed the idea; I was sure he would be able to tell if I was lying or not.

“No, I’m not happy, but after the wedding I will be,” I sighed.

“What’s supposed to happen after the wedding?” he asked with a skeptical look on his face.

“After the wedding, I will be able to meet my biological mother.” I smiled.

“Yeah, Nazi told Jinx about that; he told me. So, you’re doing all of this just to meet your biological mother? If your biological mother wasn’t involved, would you still be getting married?”

“So, Nazi can tell my business but she can’t answer any of my phone calls or texts,” I pouted.

“Fix your face; your sister is just upset right now. Answer my question.”

“Yes, I’m doing this for my mother, well my biological mother. I need to talk to her because so many things have gone unanswered and I need answers. My mother had to be the one to raise me up until she had Nazi but I don’t remember anything.”

“Ma, don’t cry.” Gunz wiped the tears away from my eyes. then gave me a peck.

He pulled away before I was satisfied with the kiss. I grabbed him by the collar of his hoodie, pulling him back to me. I missed everything about Gunz, but more importantly, I missed what was in between his legs. I missed the feeling he gave me whenever he was inside of me. I wanted him; no, I needed to feel him inside of me. I need him stretching me to my limits and bringing me pure bliss. I needed it, but most importantly, I just needed him.

“Laci, you keep playing with a nigga’s heart and I can’t allow you to keep doing this to me,” he said, pulling away.

“I understand.”  I was disappointed but I knew he was right. I wanted him to give me what I craved for but I wasn’t willing to give him the one thing he desired.

“Don’t look disappointed. I’m willing to play the game ‘cause I plan on being the winner. You’re a prize worth killing over, Laci.”

His lips found my neck and I tuned out whatever else he was trying to say. My hands went under his hoodie and I began scratching his back. I dug my nails deep into his flesh from the excitement he was bring me.

“Laci, do you fucking hear me?” he questioned, pulling away from me.

I looked at him in awe because this was the man I was destined to be with. He was the man I loved and I knew he loved me. It was just too bad love found us too soon but it was also too late.

“Lacianne, answer me when I’m fucking talking to you!” he demanded.

“I didn’t hear you,” I purred.

“I said you are fucking worth killing over. I will body any nigga that stands in the way of me having you. Laci, at the end of the day, it’s going to be us and only us.”

“I hear you; now give me what I want,” I cooed. I took off the nightgown I had on and threw it on the floor. I wasn’t wearing any panties, giving him full access.

He eyed my naked body then walked away, leaving me sitting on the counter. I sat there for a second in shock, trying to figure out what the hell just happened. I hopped off the counter and followed him. He was heading out the door and I wasn’t having that. I quickly slipped in front of the door before he could grab the knob.

“Why are you trying to leave me?”

“Laci, move yo horny ass the fuck out of my way.”

“NO!” I yelled. “I’m not moving anywhere. I need and want you, Gunz. My mind, heart, and soul craves you. Please, don’t do this.” I was begging but I didn’t give a fuck. If you ever was graced with Gunz’s presence, then you would understand my behavior. He was a cocky, smooth asshole that I just couldn’t shake.

“Laci, what I have to offer, you’re not ready for right now. Just make sure you don’t give my shit away.”

“Gunz, please don’t leave me,” I pouted.

“I’m not leaving for good; I’ll be back. Right now just isn’t the right time for us. If I give you the love that you crave now, you will always think you can just do as you please and I will be there for you. I want you but I only want you if you’re only mine, right now you’re not.”

“I am only yours Bryce. You’re the only man I have ever loved. Please.”

“I love you too, Laci, and that’s why I’m walking away ma.” He came close to me, kissing me.

His tongue slipped into my mouth, causing me to suck on it for dear life. His hands roamed my naked body and I thought I had him. He picked me up and my legs wrapped around his waist. Our kiss never broke as he carried me into my bedroom. He laid me on the bed, whispered he loved me in my ear, then walked out my bedroom. I curled up in my bed letting my tears fall freely.
What the fuck did I do?
I asked myself, as I cried myself to sleep.

Chapter 20: Gunz

“How things go with Laci?” Jinx asked when I walked in the warehouse.

“Don’t want to talk about it,” I told him.

Going to see Laci this morning was something that we both needed. I needed it, just to make sure that what I was feeling was real. Laci needed it, so she would stop living in denial. After seeing her, my ass went straight home to take a nap and sleep that shit off. Jinx had looked into Laci, Nazi, and Brett. Laci and Nazi were indeed the daughters of A.J Lewis. Jinx also found out that Shirley and Dennis were the people who killed Laci’s mother and father. Her ass was marrying a nigga for no reason because there would be no family reunion. I could’ve just told Laci what I knew when I went to see her, but I knew it would crush her. I couldn’t throw Laci into a swirl of emotions when I wasn’t going to be there to help her through it. Nah, I wasn’t going to be the person to tell her but Shirley old ass was.

I haven’t talked to my father since Sunday dinner, but I needed to make a stop to see him too. I was no longer going to be working for my father. Black Rose Mafia was a family in its own and we deserved a chance at being at the top. Yes, we did work for other people but most of it was for my father. I was a boss by nature and now it was time for me to be a boss by power.

I stood at the head of the table with Jinx to my right and Jiselle to my left. Both of them knew my plans and they backed me a hundred percent. With them by my side, I knew we were going to be unstoppable. I just had to make sure my team was up to par and ready for whatever.

“I asked you all her for one reason and one reason only. War.” I scanned the room to make sure every man and woman in this room understood what I was saying.

“As you know, a lot of the business that we handle has to do with Black Mafia, which is ran by our father. As of this moment right now, this second right here, that is no more. I, along with Jiselle and Jinx, feel it is better that we separate ourselves. No great leader is okay with coming in second to someone else. I like to feel as though I am a great leader, which means I want to be number one.

Black Rose Mafia is more than just a group of young men and woman who indulge in criminal activity. We are trendsetters; we break boundaries. We are not the traditional crime family. We don’t dabble in drugs because that tears down our community and that’s not what we are here for. We are here to use our intellect and skill to bring us income. We are going to use that same intellect and skill to bring us power. People only fear the unknown and that is exactly what we are going to become. The unknown. No one outside of the people in this room will know of what we do. No one outside of the people in this room will know of how we generate income.

We are the new age of crime, so let’s step out and be different, all the while making history in the process.”

I looked to Jinx to see if he wanted to say a few words and he stepped up. “Like my brother said, we are of a different breed. We are so much more than criminals. Allow your minds to branch out from the petty crimes of killing and slanging rocks. When we will kill, it will be for the higher ups. We always say we something like the secret service of the hood; now it’s time to be the secret service of the world but with our own little twist. Let’s get this money!” I smiled at my baby brother, then turned my attention to Jiselle. She was twirling a knife around in her hand before pocketing it and taking a step forward.

“I’m not a woman of many words but I will say this. There is a war coming and I refuse to have any causalities on my team. We will be getting heat from every which way. If you cannot handle it, then I suggest that you come up here and allow me to slit your throat now. I may be the youngest out of my siblings but do not under estimate me. Us failing isn’t an option, so it’s either you get down or I’ll put you down, but don’t say I didn’t warn you when you have a slit to the throat.” She smiled, then took a step back. I shook my head at her but she was right; failing wasn’t an option.

“If anyone wants to oppose to what has been said, then speak now.” I look around the room and no one said anything.

“Good, you all will have directions on our next plan of action when you reach home. Read over everything and make sure you memorize the plan inside and out. I don’t want any fuck ups when it’s time to handle business. Now, get the fuck out before I let Jiselle loose on y’all.” Everyone got up and scurried out the room. Jiselle really had them shook with her crazy antics.

“You didn’t have to make me sound like a dog, Gunz.” She giggled while sitting at the table. Jinx and I sat down with her because we needed to discuss business of our own.

“You know it’s all love baby. You sure you wanna go through with this plan? I know Laci isn’t your favorite person in the world,” I told her.

“Y’all two are my brothers and, even though I may not like your choice in woman, I’m always going to be there when you need me.”

“Ight.” I smiled.

“After this is handled, I will be making that move to Atl. I haven’t told moms and pops but I feel no need to since we are really separating ourselves from them,” Jinx said.

“Wait, why the fuck are you going down there?” Jiselle asked.

“Jiselle, calm down,” I told her.

“I’m going down there with Nazi for the four months. I’ll be back in June once Nazi graduates.”

“You’re really going to leave your family when we are starting a war for some bitch.”

“You’re my sister and I love you, Jiselle, but watch your fucking mouth. She isn’t just some bitch; she is my bitch!” Jinx barked.

“I don’t give a fuck whose bitch she is; at the end of the day, she is still a bitch. Gunz, I can’t believe you are okay with this shit.”

“I’m okay with it because it’s not that big of a deal. It’s only four months. Anything Jinx does here, he can do down in Atlanta. Jinx has never gotten his hands dirty and he isn’t going to start.”

“Fuck this shit,” Jiselle spat, then stormed off.

“Don’t even trip; you know how she can be,” I told Jinx.

“She need to find her a nigga or some shit. She always in her feelings about something, man.”

“You wanna roll with me to go and talk to pops?”

“Yeah, that’s cool; a nigga don’t have shit else to do.”

We left out of the warehouse and, by the time we got outside, Jiselle’s car was gone. Sometimes I worried about her because we were all she had. I didn’t know if she felt threatened because other women was coming into her life or if she just didn’t like them. Either way, she needed to get her shit together, because from the looks of it, Laci and Nazi was here to say.

* * * *

“What do I owe the pleasure of seeing my two sons on a day that isn’t Sunday?” My mother smiled while opening the door.

“We came to see pops; is he here?” I asked.

“He’s down in his den. Is this something that I need to be present for?”

“Only if you want to be,” I told her.

I made my way to the den and found my father sitting at his desk smoking a cigar. I sat across from him, along with Jinx. He offered us one but we both declined.

“Wassup?” he asked.

“I came here to let you know we are going to handle the Brett situation. We are not doing it for you but we are doing it for us.”

“What exactly do you mean
you are doing it for you
?” my father asked with a raised eyebrow.

“I’m doing this for Black Rose Mafia. Laci is already my chick and us being together has nothing to do with you. Therefore, you shouldn’t gain from our union.”

“Is that how you see it?” he asked, stroking his chin.

“Pops, that is exactly how I see it. I love you and I have respect for you but this is strictly business.”

“I hear you talking but you know this will cause a war,” he smirked.

“Stephan!” my mother yelled.

“No, Rose. He wants to be the boss, then it’s time that he learns the game. If you want to be the boss, then so be it. I’m passing everything down to you. Not only will you have Black Rose Mafia; you will also have Black Mafia.”

“I don’t want your empire. I’m trying to build my own.”

“Mhmm, then if you don’t want it, then what about you, Jinx?” my father asked him.

“Nah, that ain’t even how I get down.” He shrugged.

“Then I guess it will have to go to Jiselle. All I know is that the three of you need to stick together. Taking on the Ferragamo family is going to be very tough. Their reach is very long.”

“My reach is longer. Trust me, there is no reason for you to be worried; we got this. You and mom raised us well. All I ask is that you give us your blessing.” I didn’t really need my father’s blessing but it would make things a lot smoother if he gave it to me.

“You have my blessing but I would like to meet the young lady that has you wanting to step out on your own, and the young lady that got you ready to move.”

“You spoke to Jiselle?” Jinx smirked.

“Of course he did; you know I’m a daddy’s girl.” Jiselle laughed, coming into the room. “Since none of them want to take over Black Mafia, I would be honored to. Me taking over won’t affect anything you have going on Gunz because I will be at your disposal whenever you need me.”

“Well, since your father and I are officially out of the game, I think it will be a good thing for you to try and be an actual family. I know that we have pushed you instead of showing our loving and caring side; I would like the chance to fix that. So, we will still have family dinner every Sunday but business will not be discussed. After the three of you handle that wedding situation, I expect all three of you and your dates to be here.”

“You got it ma, but who Jiselle bringing? You know her mean ass don’t fuck with nobody” I joked.

“Shut the hell up Bryce!” she screamed.

“Leave your sister alone; you know she is a special one,” my father joked.

Everyone laughed, except for Jiselle. This was the first time in all of my years I have seen my family laugh and smile with each other. We were actually vibing like a family and it was cool. The only thing that was missing was Laci, but her ass was going to be where she belonged very soon.
