“No . . . Jamie . . ,” she cried as she started to run back to help him. Tears filled her eyes when she saw the pain Jamie was in and she just couldn’t leave the boy who’d become like a little brother to her.

“Deanna . . no. Just go . . ,” Jamie cried hoarsely, not wanting Deanna to get hurt.

Deanna hesitated and it was the chance Shaun needed. He jumped to his feet, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, spitting blood on the floor as he pounced on Deanna, his heavy weight crushing her as they tumbled to the ground.

Deanna screamed loudly, trying to alert anyone still in the building to what was happening. She could hear Jamie shouting her name as he attempted to crawl across the floor and help her.

Shaun straddled her and she quickly brought her hand back and smacked the palm of her hand as hard as she could into his nose. Shaun hollered and reared back, blood pouring out of his nose.

Deanna scrambled to her feet as she rushed to get to Jamie’s side but a body crashed into her back and she fell, hitting her face painfully on the concrete.

“You won’t get away from me, bitch,” Shaun snapped as his hands wrapped into her hair and yanked her head back hard. Staggering backwards he dragged her kicking and screaming as she watched Jamie slump unconscious to the floor.

Deanna was pulled down a dark hall and her panic escalated when she realised he was taking her to the swimming pool area. She remembered what had happened to Lee and Shaun’s mother and had the terrible thought that she was going to suffer the same fate.

Shaun hauled her inside and kicked the door shut as he threw Deanna to the tiled surface. She glanced around apprehensively and saw the pool illuminated behind her. Holding a hand to her throat she furiously checked to make sure he hadn’t cut too deeply.

“What do you want?” she asked, knowing full well what he planned but trying to delay him, hoping someone had heard her screaming.

As she looked up and saw Shaun properly she was shocked to see an almost identical Lee stood before her, which explained the times she thought she’d seen and heard Lee. Gone was the silly beanie hat and he was completely clean shaven, he also looked thinner and Deanna realised that he must have worn padding under his clothes, especially around his stomach which she had always thought looked odd. His eyes, which had been so familiar to her when she’d seen him at the MC, were exactly the same as her own.

Tears filled her eyes as she thought of her father and what the monsters might have done to him before he died.

“Ring Nate. Tell him you’re delayed so will be home late. Who the hell does he think he is anyway, telling me what I can and can’t do? I’m looking forward to seeing the prick’s face when he sees you dead,” Shaun spat maliciously and Deanna felt even more scared of Shaun than she’d ever been of Lee.

Shaun threw her handbag in front of her and Deanna reached out with shaking hands as she took her mobile out of the bag.

“Don’t get any ideas about telling him what’s happening. If you do, I’ll finish you quickly and run. I’ll kill Holly the next chance I get. You don’t want your daughter to die because of her stupid mother’s actions, do you?”

“Don’t you dare threaten my little girl. Nate would never let you near her.”

Shaun sneered. “I’ll just have to finish him off as well. Then I’ll start on the rest of the ridiculous MC. They all think they’re tough blokes. I’ll show them.”

Deanna glared at him, but did as she was told as she dialed Nate’s number, afraid that he might be insane enough to carry out a threat against her child. She knew Shaun wouldn’t stand a chance against Nate though.

The phone rang twice before Nate answered.

“Hi babe. I hope you’re no’ driving and talking on the phone. Just a minute,” his voice became distant as she heard him talking to someone in the background, before coming back on the phone. “Holly’s climbing my legs tryin’ to snatch the phone off me. You okay Deanna?” Nate asked worried when he hadn’t heard any response from her.

“I . . ,” Deanna coughed to clear her throat, tears making it hard to talk as she thought of her loving husband and their wonderful daughter. “I’ll be a bit late. Me and Fiona are going to do a few lengths in the pool, but Jamie’s with us . . ,” she cut off as she thought of Jamie lying in the other room, possibly bleeding to death.

“Alright. I’ve got tea on so try to be back by eight. I love you.”

“I love you too. So much. You and Holly are my world,” she said hoarsely.

“What’s up babe?”

“I just love you
My Raven
,” Deanna finished, stressing her last two words, remembering their conversation about using safewords, knowing he would understand.

“Deanna . . ,” Nate shouted with sudden panic in his voice as she hung up the phone.

“Throw it in the pool. I have a surprise for you,” Shaun gloated as she threw her mobile behind her, which landed in the water with a splash.

Shaun took his own phone out of his pocket and dialed and whilst he was distracted Deanna quickly looked around trying to find anything she could use as a weapon.

“You can come in now,” Shaun practically sang into the phone.

The door to the swimming pool swung open and Alastair walked in. Deanna groaned inwardly. Everyone had known he was a nutter and she’d thought they’d seen the last of him when Nate had thrown him out of the compound, beaten and bloody. Obviously he’d been working for Shaun.

“Hello Deanna. It’s nice seeing you again, biker whore,” Alastair sneered down at her kneeling on the floor.

“You had this idiot working for you? I thought you’d have better taste than that,” Deanna goaded, hating Alastair for all the problems he’d tried to cause in the MC and what he did to her.

“Watch your mouth. I’ve been looking forward to gutting you. You’re such a cock teaser,” Alastair said, not taking his eyes from Deanna, who stared up at him defiantly.

Deanna scoffed. “My husband is the only man for me. You’re just an insignificant little fart.”

“Fuckin’ bitch. I wanted to hurt the club, they always treated me like I was a piece of shit. So you became my real target, the Queen of the MC. I didn’t fuck up the club like I planned but you’re all by yourself now,” Alastair spat advancing on her.

“Alastair. Go check to see if anyone’s around. I need to make sure no one heard her. I want to have plenty of time for what I have planned for her,” Shaun ordered.

Alastair gave her one last nasty glare as he stomped over to the door, slamming it behind him as he left, the sound of his retreating footsteps echoing as he walked away.

Deanna turned her head and stared back up at Shaun who was actually looking at her almost softly and thoughtfully for the first time.

“You know, when I found out I had a sister I was happy. I’d grown up in such a fucked up home and hadn’t known the truth. Lee discovered our mum’s letters and he went mental when he found out why she died. His dad said she’d passed away from birth complications after having me, covering up the real fact that she’d committed suicide. I thought I’d find you and we would become close. Lee may be my brother but he’s always been fucked up in the head.”

“And you’re completely sane, are you then?” she asked derisively.

“Careful Deanna,” he warned. “Don’t think anyone’s coming to save you. Nate has no fucking clue and I’ve arranged a distraction for Ethan and his bitch. They won’t be returning anytime soon. Before you interrupted me I was kindly giving you an explanation of what happened. I know Lee never really explained everything the night he attacked you. He was too fueled with madness to think straight. Silly sod got himself caught.”

“Wait, you were there that night?”

“Yes, I watched the whole thing. You discussed the plans you had later that night with your friend right in front of me, you silly cow. But I was going to step in if he went too far, you weren’t his to kill. The Police turned up just in time. Even though I thought the old lady across the road saw me leave, but I’m too good.”

Deanna’s eyes widened as she realised that Shaun had indeed been standing in the club office when she and Megan had made plans for a girl’s night out when Lee attacked her. Shaun would have told him about the perfect opportunity to get to her with no one around.

She also remembered what Alice had told her after she’d been attacked. Alice had said she thought she saw Lee escape just before the police arrived but when he was brought out in handcuffs, she thought she must have imagined it.

Deanna quickly hid her expression to make sure that Shaun didn’t realise he was wrong. If she died this night and Shaun escaped knowing Alice had recognised him, she would be his next target.

“Anyway, when Lee discovered the letters and showed me we started planning. When we found you, I couldn’t believe what a perfect family you were. I was overwhelmed with hatred towards the lot of you. You had the life I always wanted. We eventually captured your father on his way to work and killed him a few hours later.”

“Please, where is he?” she begged, desperately needing to know.

“Buried deep. There won’t be anything left to find anyway, so that copper might as well stop his investigations. You’ll never find him.”

Deanna dropped her head in sadness, thinking of her loving father and knowing she’d never be able to put his body to rest.

“We watched your mum die and then kept an eye on you. You struggled alone and I thought it was perfect justice, but Lee wanted more. That was why he approached you in the bar. I let him have his revenge but I was going to end it all. It was my father that caused my mum’s suicide. How the fuck do you think I feel?”

“I’m sorry about that. As a mother myself I would never abandon my child for anything. It’s weak and selfish.”

“Don’t you fucking insult my mother,” he said threateningly, his gentle tone now gone as he took a step towards her.

“Think about it. She deserted you knowing who you would be left with. I’m sorry she believed that killing herself was the only way out, but she had a choice. I’ve never been given a choice. I’ve had to grow up without my parents. Then Lee made my life a misery. So have you.”

“It will finish tonight. I promised myself it would. I have to see this to the end, only then will my mother’s memory be avenged. I’ve watched and followed you for months to get to know your routine so I could plan for tonight. I only scared you these past few weeks so you could begin to understand what was coming.”

“I’ve already realised you were the person I saw who looked like Lee. But were you the person who assaulted me and tried to run me over? What about the graffiti at the compound?”

“The graffiti was Alastair. He really does hate everything to do with the MC, he just wanted to piss them off. But the rest was me. Each time some silly bitch got in the way. That ninja slag nearly broke my nose and the other stupid cow just got in my way.”

“Don’t you call them that, they’re my friends. The woman you clipped with the car was pregnant and she lost the baby because of you.”

Shaun just simply shrugged his shoulders as the pool door swung open and Alastair tramped back in, looking harassed.

“I’ve searched the whole fuckin’ building and no one’s around. We’re free to do whatever we want to this bitch,” Alastair said.

“What about the boy outside?” Shaun asked.

“He looks dead to me.”

Deanna felt the crushing weight inside when she realised that Jamie, who’d suffered his whole life, had died fighting because of her.

“Right, let’s get this party started,” Alastair said rubbing his hands together with glee whilst advancing on Deanna. He pulled a large knife from his pocket and waved it tauntingly at her.

“No. I said you could be present. But I get the honour of killing this bitch,” Shaun interrupted.

“Fuck you. I was the one who tampered with the bikes because we both wanted the MC’s reputation to be ruined. Nate even broke my frigging jaw and nose. I had to have my jaw wired up. You also promised me money, which you still haven’t paid me,” Alastair advanced on Shaun, who didn’t look in the least bit intimidated by him.

“I knew Nate was suspicious of you, so I just used you, idiot. You’ll never see a penny,” Shaun replied in a scarily calm voice.

Alastair spat in response and launched himself at Shaun, both men crashing to the floor.

Deanna immediately saw her opportunity as she jumped to her feet and dashed for the door, but hands wrapped around her ankles and she was pulled down. Looking over her shoulder she could see Shaun fighting Alastair but still managing to keep a strong hold on her so she couldn’t escape.

Alastair abruptly kicked Shaun in the mouth and he jerked to the side, losing his grip on her. Alastair jumped to his feet and leaped on Deanna, the knife held in the air above her. She reached up and held tightly on to his wrist, struggling to keep the knife away from her, her arms trembling with the effort.

She was concentrating so hard on the hand with the knife that she didn’t see his other fist come at her until it connected with her nose and she screamed with pain as blood poured down her face. Her grip loosened and he smiled at her as he brought the knife downwards.

Shaun suddenly appeared and forced Alastair off her. The men started to fight savagely, kicking and punching each other but Shaun, being in better shape, was getting the upper hand.
