"Babe, we gotta go." I whisper in her ear.
"What? Why? We only just got here Noah, we can't leave yet."
"I got plans for us babe, trust me."
"What about Trina, I can't leave her here, she doesn’t know anybody."
"Sure she does, she knows Brady and Cindy , they'll take care of here, won't you bro?"
"We sure will, you go with Noah blondie."
"I'll be fine Boo, you go ahead and tell me all the juicy details."
"Well where are we going?" Liv throws a very confused look my way and I wrack my brain for an answer to give her.
"It’s a surprise."
"Nuh uh, no way, no how, I don’t like your damn suprises, they're usually used to convince me of something so I'm not buying it." I bite back my laughter because she's absolutely right.
"Come on babe, do you trust me?" I plead with her with my eyes.
"You know I do but-"
"Then come with me." I give her a hard kiss on the lips, biting down the urge to put my tongue in her mouth and go exploring, there'll be time for that later.
I take her hand, instructing her to say bye to everyone which she does grumpily. I pull her along behind me, suddenly way too fucking eager to get what feels like a bomb out of my pocket. Am I nervous? Hell yes I'm nervous. Am I excited though? An equally hell yes. This is the girl I'm gonna spend the rest of my life with and it's about time I show her just how serious I am about that fact.
Chapter 32
Liv
I'm yanked like a ragdoll by Noah who suddenly seems like he's in a rush. He's been on edge since graduating and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Don’t get me wrong, I'd love nothing more than to be alone with him, hell I always love being alone with him but I feel kinda bad about leaving Trina behind at Tucker's party. I have no doubt that Brady and Cindy will take good care of her though. Brady, despite being an annoying ass, is kinda alright I suppose and maybe he's wormed his way into my affections, though I'd never admit that to him. Cindy on the other hand I definitely consider a friend. Ever since Thanksgiving, while her and Brady's relationship has been going from strength to strength, so has our friendship. She's helped fill the space of Trina as my go to girl here in Franklin and while she could never replace Trina, she's definitely become a really good friend. I'll miss her while she's in LA at college but at least we'll have an excuse to visit often.
Noah practically throws me in the car and if it wasn’t so strange, I'd find it sexy as hell. He buckles me up, which seems to have become a habit of his, before slamming the door shut and jogging to the other side. I rest back in the seat of his Mustang, I can't even remember the last time I drove my Mini, it's gotta be going on months now. I can't remember the last time I drove any car for that matter since Noah refuses to let me drive his baby as he calls it. I practically roll my eyes at the thought of it.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" I say when he climbs into the driver's seat next to me.
"What? Nothing, I don’t know what you mean."
"You're acting like a damn maniac, actually you’ve been acting like you're high or something all day."
"It’s a surprise." He takes my hand in his and kissed my knuckles.
He knows full well I hate is surprises, they always mean he's about to totally ignore me about something so that he can get his own way. If anything, I hate surprises more now than I ever have. There's really no point in me even trying to get it out of him, it's impossible to get it out of him when he's like this. The only comfort I have is that I know it's killing him keeping his surprise a secret from me as much as it is for me not knowing. HA! I hope it fucking well is too!
"Can you at least give me a clue as to where we're going? Or why you dragged me out of our graduation party?"
"Nope." He says simply, the word popping in his mouth.
"Am I gonna be mad? I'm gonna be mad, aren't I?" His chuckle fills the car and just pisses me off even more.
"Patience Liv, have a little patience."
"Don’t start quoting songs to me jackass, how mad am I gonna be at you? Is it gonna make me wanna kick your pretty little car?" His laughing is just getting louder now and I'm tempted to whack him over his damn head.
"I promise you won't be mad at me, ok? This is a good thing, I'm sure you'll be very very happy."
"Is it a puppy?"
"How is it that you go from threatening my car to thinking about puppies in ten seconds flat?"
I simply shrug, I don’t know, all I know is I really really want a puppy. I look out the window, frowning on recognizing where we are. I look to Noah, completely muddled. All I can think is that no matter what he says, he must have done something bad to be sucking up this bad.
"What did you do?" I ask suspiciously.
"Nothing, just trust me ok and close your eyes."
"Why the hell have I gotta close my eyes?"
"Please Liv." He lets out an exasperated sigh.
I squeeze my eyes shut as I feel something being places over them, what the hell is that?
"You into some kinky shit, Noah?" I aks on realizing it's some kind of scarf that’s been placed over my eyes.
"If you want me to baby." He whispers in my ear, sending goosebumps all over my flesh and spikes of desire shooting through my body.
"Wait here a second." He says and I hear the car door open before slamming shut. Stay here? Where the hell would I go? I cant see a fucking thing, though with the amount of times we've been here I probably know this place like the back of my hand.
I hear the door next to me open and feel Noah's strong hands gripping my arm and helping me out of the car. He holds both arms in his hands, leading me forwards as I walk as if I'm on the moon. The grounds uneven, the twigs under my feet snapping. I hear the telltale creak of a gate opening, I don’t see why I've been blindfolded, it's not like I don’t know exactly where we are. I continue to be led forward before Noah holds me still, indicating for me to come to a stop. I stand there impatiently, waiting for this damn blindfold to be taken off. When it does my words are caught in my throat and tears pool my eyes.
The entire of the Phlox field, our field is covered in fairy lights. They're hanging in the trees surrounding it, lying on the grass and in between the flowers. There's not enough light to take away from the beautiful stars above and I don’t think I've ever seen something so absolutely stunning in my entire life.
"Noah, how? When?" I can barely get my words out, too mesmerized by the sight in front of me.
"Shhh, listen to me. This is our place, this is the place where I took you before we had our first kiss, it’s the place where I asked you to be my girlfriend, it’s the place we come to be alone, so it only seems right that we come here to do this."
"Noah-"
"Let me finish please." I can only nod.
"My Dad used to bring me here when I was younger and I then brought you here. Did you know that just before I brought you here that second time, the time we went to Savannah, I asked my Dad, however crazy is probably seems, if I was doing the right thing by being with you? I asked him to just give me a sign. From the moment I saw you Liv, something in me changed, all I knew, all I wanted, all I thought of was you. You were so damn beautiful standing in there with all your attitude. When I brought you here and you told me that these were your favorite flowers when I knew you hadn't seen they were here that night, I nearly had a fucking heart attack but that was the moment I accepted it. I accepted that I was totally gone over you. I'm not gonna do some dumbass speech like Brady but I am gonna tell you the truth. You were the best thing that ever happened to me. You are so unbelievably beautiful and I'm not just talking about on the outside, but on the inside too." He picks a single Phlox out of the ground, the round head filled with flowers. Tears pour down my cheeks at the entire gesture. "You told me once that you didn’t believe in coincidences and I told you that it was fate, it was fate that brought us together, because I have no doubt in my mind that you are my other half. You told me once that you liked these flowers because of the smell, I like them because of their meaning and that’s why they are perfect for this moment. Did you know that Phlox flowers are considered to symbolize the unity of souls, that’s what some people think anyway. Other people think they mean sweet dreams." Noah gets down on one knee, causing me to let out a gasp. "Others think they're used as a gesture in a marriage proposal. All of those things are right for us, our souls are united and you are the girl of my dreams. Most importantly though and you’ve probably already guessed what this is, is this." He pulls out a square black leather box from his pocket, opening it up to reveal the most beautiful white gold cushion cut diamond ring. "My Dad gave this my Mom, he saved for months to get her the perfect ring because he wanted them the have the perfect marriage, I want the same thing. I love you more than anything Liv Preston. I'd do anything for you, hell I'd build you a damn Starbucks if you wanted me too. You want a puppy? You got it. You want a ton of kids? You got them. I will do anything to make you happy and for the rest of my life, that’s my job. I'll take care of you, I'll love you unconditionally, I'll comfort you and support you. I've been worried about this for weeks but I'm not anymore, the truth is it doesn’t matter what your answer is, I'll still do all those things. I'd love to do those things as your husband though, I'd love you to be my wife. Will you marry me Liv and make me the happiest man in the world?"
I fall to my knees sobbing, not caring what I look like. I lay a hand on Noah's cheek and look at Noah watering eyes. He really is the most special, handsome guy and I feel so lucky to have him.
"Oh Noah, how could you ever be nervous?" I giggle. "I love you more than life itself, I love you more than all the stars in the sky. You healed me, you put me back together and make me thankful for every day because you're in my life. I'd love nothing more than to be your wife, my Noah." With that said, Noah grabs me and kissed me hard on the mouth, his hand slipping the ring that fits perfectly onto my finger.
"I love you so so much, my everything." He says, leaning his forehead against mine.
"I love you too, my forever love."
The End.................For now!
