“I am going to be buying your ring tomorrow.  Amanda that is something I want to do.  I have met my target a few times over.  I would like you to choose a ring.  Something that you really want.  Do not look at the price.  Promise me you won’t look at the price.”  Amanda chuckled.
“I won’t look at the price.  I promise.”  David smiled.
“I love you Amanda.”
“I love you David.”  They held each other and went to sleep.

CHAPTER 1
5

“Okay everybody.  Ablutions.  Dress.  Ten minutes!”  Victoria groaned.  Nicola roared with laughter.  They both sat on Victoria’s bed and sipped at their coffee.  Amanda chuckled as David hugged her and they stood and drank their coffee.
“And after all the shopping I think we should come home and pack as much as we can.”  Amanda smiled and nodded.  She finished her coffee and hugged David.  She whispered as she spoke.
“David I feel like a new woman.”  He whispered.
“You turned me in to a real man.  Now I can go out there and face the world.”  Amanda chuckled as the girls walked in.

“We are ready.  Why are we up so early?”
“Because Nicola.  We are going for breakfast.  And then we are going to shop.  And shop.  And shop.  And then we might stop for a little light lunch.”
“We are shopping today?”  Victoria and Nicola both squealed with delight.
“Are we ready ladies?”  Nicola grinned.
“Kind of starved.”  David grinned.
“Famished!”  They roared with laughter as they walked out and hopped in the van.
“Where to Miss Rosendale?”
“Head for the mall.  They are all meeting us there.”

“All of them?”  Amanda nodded.
“The whole tribe.”
“Oh no!  You are going to meet Olive!”  David roared with laughter.
“And Penny.”
“Well be very nice.  Remember.  You give what you get.  Be nice and they will be nice.”
“Don’t sit next to Olive.  I hope they have chairs and not cubicles.”
“Nicola.”  Nicola grinned and Victoria chuckled.  David looked at Amanda and she hid her smile and looked out of the window.

The
y pulled up at the mall.  David took a slow dawdle as they looked in the jewelers window.
“Hurry up!  We need to find chairs.”
“Nicola.”
“I will be super sweet.”  David stopped as Amanda pulled him to one side.
“Now that is what I like.”  She pointed at a ring in the window.
“Ladies.  Go ahead.  Go find a table.”  Nicola and Victoria ran up to the restaurant.
“We are going in here!”
“Okay!”

David and Amanda walked in to the jeweler.  They walked up to the window and looked at the ring.  David smiled and nodded.
“That the one?”  Amanda smiled and nodded.  The assistant was soon there to help them.  Amanda tried the ring on and smiled.
“We will take that one.”  The sales assistant smiled as she rang up the sale and handed David the packet with the empty box inside.
“Ring please.”
“Ooooh David.”  He smiled as she took the ring off.  He put the ring in the little box.  They walked over to the restaurant.  Nicola and Victoria sat waiting.

David smiled as he took a seat next to Victoria.
“And just where did you go?”  David roared with laughter.  Amanda chuckled.
“What is in the packet young Miss Rosendale?”
“Little Miss Rosendale do not be so nosy.”  David chuckled.
“You have to wait.  Okay I will let the cat out of the bag.  We are celebrating.”  They both whispered at the same time.
“A ring?”  David and Amanda nodded.

They looked up as Sydney and Olive walked in.  Amanda stood up.
“Oh great!  This is David and Victoria MacGuire.”  Sydney shook David’s hand and Olive smiled.
“Nice to meet you.”  David smiled as they took seats opposite Nicola and Victoria.  Charles and Penny were next to arrive.  David did the introductions.

The folks arrived and hugged and kissed them all
.  David looked at everyone.
“There is something that I would like to do.  And I have to do it properly.”  David stood up.  They all looked at him.  He fiddled in his pocket and took the ring box out.  He went down on one knee.
“You have witnesses brother dearest.”
“Thank you Charles.”
“Are you going to propose?  Here?  In front of everyone?”  David smiled.
“Yes Penny I am.”  Tom smiled.
“Quiet everyone.  Let David have a chance.”  David smiled and looked at Amanda.
“Amanda.  You know everything there is to know about me.  I come as a package deal sweetheart.”  Amanda smiled as she looked at David.
“Ask me.”  David grinned.
“Will you marry me?”
“Yes!”  He smiled as he slipped her ring on her finger.
“I love you.”  He hugged Amanda.
“I love you David.”  He got off of his knee and stood up.  Everyone cheered.  All the guests in the restaurant cheered.  David chuckled and sat down.  He leaned over and hugged Amanda.  Everyone got up and hugged and kissed them.

Penny smiled and almost said something.
“David has had a thumper of a week.  Thank you for helping him last night.  Clocked over the midnight hour there.  So we thought we would take you all out for breakfast.”  Penny smiled and looked over.
“So business is.”  David looked over and cut her off.
“I have never been so busy Penny.  I have been busy every single day this week.  I had to come to town to do a job last night.  Yes.  Business is booming.”  Penny nodded.

“How
was your course last night Olive?”
“Well.  We did a few different types of patchwork.  Oh it was fantastic.  I am going to buy a few pieces of material when we are done.  I am going to do a log cabin design.  In browns and oranges if I can find the right fabric.”
“Oh lovely!”  Penny looked at Olive.
“Do you sew?”
“I do.  When I get the chance.”  Penny nodded and smiled.  The chatting began.

David smiled and looked at Amanda.  She winked and smiled.  They all placed their order for their breakfast.  Nicola looked at everyone.  She looked at Victoria.
“So what color are we going for?”
“I was thinking greens.”  Nicola nodded.  She spoke quietly.
“I wonder what we are going to get?”
“I don’t know.  I am glad we don’t have to take our old things.”
“Barbie would not look good.”  Victoria roared with laughter.
“I have The Muppets.”  Nicola roared with laughter.
“We should do something different.  I still like The Smurfs.”
“Hey so do I.  If we see a cover with The Smurfs we must go for that.”  They both chuckled and nodded.

The breakfast arrived and everyone tucked in.  It was a very jovial table.  They finished their meal and the bill folder was put down in front of David.  Sydney took the folder and added a few notes and passed it to Charles.  He added his notes.  The bill folder went to Don and Tom and back to Davi
d.
“We were going to pay.”  Tom chuckled.
“When were we ever out for a meal like this?  I can tell you.  Never.  So count and see what we still need to add.”  David counted the notes and smiled.
“Thank you.”  He didn’t add a cent.  He handed it to the waitress and everyone started walking out.

“And where are you off to now?”  David smiled.
“We are going to buy bedding.”  Mary nodded.
“There is a nice big sale on at the moment.  So I am getting a few things too.”  Penny smiled.
“I have to nip to the material shop.”  Charles nodded.
“We will bump into you I am sure.”  Olive grinned.
“I am going to drag Sydney with.  We are joining you Amanda.  If you don’t mind.”
“Oh that will be lovely.  We can keep Nicola and Victoria on the straight and narrow.  The Smurfs?”  They both roared with laughter.
“We will have to see about that.”  David grinned.  He had also listened to the girls chatting.

They walked in to the mall and David held Amanda in his arms.  She looked at him and smiled.  He pulled her closer.  They walked in to the huge store.  Amanda handed Victoria and Nicola a list.  They both stared at the list.
“Two duvet covers?”  She nodded and smiled.
“Each of you take a trolley.  I will be selecting the duvet and the pillows.  The rest is up to you.”  They both smiled as they walked off.  Mary and Claire walked with them.  Don and Tom walked over to a set of couches and took a seat.  David chuckled.
“They haven’t stopped nattering the whole morning.”  Amanda chuckled and nodded.

They walked over to the duvets and Amanda found two lovely duvets.  She didn’t look at prices.  David put them in their trolley.  She added four bouncy pillows and two enormous oriental pillows.  David chuckled.  She took two more of the large pillows.
“We need another trolley.”  He chuckled as he walked off and fetched another trolley.  Amanda slowly walked to a wire basket that stood on the floor.  She looked at the prices.  David walked up to her.
“This can’t be right.  These sets are marked at less than half price.”  She loaded quite a few sets.  She bought sets for the house and she bought two more matching single sets.  David looked at the trolley load.

“If our trolley looks like this then what do their trolleys look like?”
“Don’t worry about them.  I am worried about the folks.  What they are loading.”  David roared with laughter as they came around the corner.
“Where is Mom?”
“Where is Gran?”
“They got stuck with two ladies that they both know.  They are discussing a book.”

Amanda smiled and nodded.
“Did you get everything on the list?”
“The only thing we don’t have is this because we can’t read it.”  Amanda looked over.
“Oh.  That says set of towels.”  Victoria and Nicola stared at the list.  They both looked at Amanda.  She took the paper and grinned.
“Two sets of towels.  Facecloth, hand towel, towel, and a bath sheet.  Two sets each.”  They both ran off.
“That did not say two sets of towels.”  Amanda blushed.
“So I doodle.”  David roared with laughter.  Amanda chuckled.
“I had my mind on somebody.”  David chuckled as she stuck the piece of paper in her pocket.

The girls walked up with their two huge sets of towels.
“We chose four different colors.  So we will share the four sets.”  Amanda nodded and smiled.  She looked at the price.
“Oh those are marked down.  I think I should get two sets for the house.”  They walked over to the towels and David helped to find the right sizes.  They loaded the trolley and made their way to the checkout.  They put everything on to the counter.  Amanda took her card and paid for the purchases.  She put the slip in to her purse.  David looked at her and she smiled.
“Had to be done.”
“I saw the total.”
“My department.  Girls.”  David chuckled.

“We need to load all of this in to the van.  There isn’t going to be much room for anything else.  Other than all your clothes.”  David chuckled.
“All my clothes.  I do like the sounds of that.”  Amanda chuckled and nodded.
“Anything you need?”
“I do need a few things while we are here.  Would you mind?”
“Gosh I don’t mind.”
“We have to drive to the supplier.  Where I buy my electrical goods.”
“Well we can do that right now and then come back.”
“Amanda.  I am going to leave you three so that you can go and browse.  Otherwise you will be bored.”
“I don’t mind.”  He smiled and kissed Amanda.
“You go and browse.  I will be back in twenty minutes.”  She smiled and kissed him as he drove off.

CHAPTER 1
6

David drove straight to the supplier.  He had to buy loads of
spares.  Amanda took Nicola and Victoria back in to the mall.
“Dad has gone to the supplier to fetch electrical goods.”  Victoria smiled and nodded.
“Dad is running out of bits and pieces.  I hope he buys a whole load.”  Amanda chuckled and nodded.  They walked in to the clothing store.  Amanda looked at the pajamas.  They looked at everything.
“I need a pair of pajamas.  Ladies I think you each need a new pair of jeans.”  Victoria looked at Nicola.
“Go on then.  Get something nice.”  Amanda found a lovely set of pajamas for herself.  She needed something a little more sexier.  She smiled as she took a black set and an emerald green set.

“And you think that is going to keep him?”  Amanda slowly turned around.
“I beg your pardon?”  Penny looked at Amanda.
“You don’t know him like I do.  And I know him very well.”
“Do you now?”
“I do.  And if he has left you with them then he is off seeing someone else.  He sleeps around.”  Amanda nodded.  She saw the movement coming towards them.
“Penny I don’t appreciate your comments.  And I think you are way out of line.”
“Oh you will see.  He often vanishes off and says he is going to do a job.  Meanwhile I know where he is.”

“And where would he be then Penny?”  David put his arm out and put it around Amanda.
“Oh David!  Did you get all your spares?”
“Actually yes.  I was running low on certain things.”
“Well I will be off.  Enjoy the rest of what is left of the day.”  Penny slowly walked off.
“I heard what she said.”  Amanda nodded.  She looked at David and he kissed her.
“She is out to get you.  And now me.  What have I done?”
“She doesn’t want anyone happy.  Let alone me.  She doesn’t approve of my past.”
“Has absolutely nothing to do with her.  I approve of your past and how you made an absolute success of things.  And I approve of my daughter.  Stupid bloody cow!”

David stared at Amanda.  Victoria and Nicola suddenly appeared out of nowhere.  Amanda cleared her throat.  David roared with laughter and pulled her into his arms and laughed and laughed.  He pulled away and kissed Amanda.
“Right.”
“So where is this cow?”
“Just left.  Now did you get the jeans?”
“We did.”
“Good.  We need a pair for Dad too.  I have what I want.  David you need a nice new pair of jeans.”  They walked over to the men’s section.  David chose a pair of jeans and Amanda took them.  She walked to the counter and paid.

“Dad.  Who made Aunty Amanda so cross?”
“Aunty Penny.”  They both nodded.  Amanda walked up to them.
“Hold these for one second please.  I was interrupted.”  She walked over to the lingerie and smiled as she bought the sexiest little pair of pajamas she had ever seen.  She walked over to the counter and paid.  She smiled as she walked to everyone.

“I think lunch is in order.”  David chuckled.  Amanda smiled and shook her head.
“You big gigolo you.”  David roared with laughter.
“The closest I get to jiggling is jiggling a screw driver.”  Amanda smiled as he held her and walked.
“I think she is so jealous of you.  Either she fancies you.  Or she is insanely jealous of what you have.  And I think Victoria has a lot to do with that.  By now they should have had their own little family.  And that is the niggle.”
“You might be right.”  Amanda nodded.
“And it is eating her up alive.  David I don’t want her at the ranch.  Not until she can behave.”
“I agree with you there.”
“Sorry.”
“No.  I think I need to have a word with Charles.”
“I don’t want to cause waves.”
“You haven’t.”

They walked out of the store and David walked them to a restaurant.  They wa
lked inside and took a seat.
“When we get home I would like to pack.  Nicola if you can help Victoria to pack as much clothing as possible.”  Victoria and Nicola both nodded.
“Mom and I will be doing my clothes.”  They all nodded.  Victoria smiled and looked at David.  He was scanning through the menu.  Amanda looked at him and smiled.  He put his arm around her and pulled her closer.
“I think the calamari, prawns, fish and chips combo.”
“I think so.”  Everyone nodded.  David ordered their meals and their drinks.  He ordered two glasses of wine for himself and Amanda.
“I am sorry about earlier.”
“If I didn’t know you David.  She would put a little doubt in my mind.  Because that is what she was trying to do.  If I was that way inclined I would say show me what you bought.  How much was it.  Where is the Invoice.  And that is what she tried to do.  And I am not falling for it.  She is just mean and bitter.  Vindictive really.”

David smiled
.
“What she doesn’t realize is that we live together.  When I go to town and get my parts you know where I am.  Because we work together.”  Amanda nodded and smiled.
“Desks!”  They all roared with laughter.
“And laptops!”  Amanda groaned.
“We forgot.  When we are finished I think we should go and buy the laptops.  That we have to do.  The two of you have to get used to the different packages and how it works.”  They both smiled and looked at David.
“Well yes.  But the desks next time.”  Amanda nodded and smiled.

They ate their lunch and walked off with three take a
way boxes.  Amanda chuckled as she carried the packet.
“Supper for sure.”  David grinned.  He was the only one that had finished his meal.  They walked in to the computer shop.  David walked them over to the laptops.
“Now this is what I think we should get.”  The salesman walked over.  He nodded.
“If you are going for the best make and the top of the range I would agree with you.”  Amanda looked at the laptop.
“I don’t want to have to buy any packages.  It has to come with everything.  These ladies are going to be studying next year.  And we can’t be up and down.”  The salesman nodded and smiled.
“It has everything.”  Amanda nodded.
“I need three.  David what color do you fancy?”
“The black is rather nice.”
“Victoria?”
“The green?”  Amanda nodded.
“Nicola?”
“I like the bright pink.”  Amanda nodded.
“One of each.  And six memory sticks.  But the biggest that you have.  And I need three of the things that work with the internet.  But I will give you the network that I am on so that they can all be linked.  Can you do that?”  The salesman stared.  He slowly nodded.
“I can do that.”
“If you could please.  And three mice.”
“You mean a mouse for each.”
“Matching if you could.”  The salesman smiled and nodded.
“And three mouse pads.”

David chuckled.
“Anyone would think you have a thing about a mouse.”  Amanda roared with laughter.  The salesman smiled as he fetched everything from the back.  He added everything that Amanda wanted.  He made sure he had the right colors.  He took the three little modems and walked to the counter.  Amanda walked up to him and gave her account for her internet network.  He nodded as he added the three new numbers on to her account.
“Full access and I don’t want it capped.”  He nodded and smiled.  He rang the purchase up and Amanda paid for everything.  He had put everything in to little bags.  Amanda handed the one bag to Victoria and the other to Nicola.  She handed the last bag to David.

“Please take me home to pack.”  David chuckled.
“And then straight home.  I think we have put enough dents in the bank account to last a life time.”  Amanda chuckled.
“Did you buy on your account or.”
“Nope.  The account is still there but I paid cash.  It goes on the account and then I pay it.  I rather fancy doing that.  If I am in need I can always buy on my account.”
“Good.”
“And Basil says if I need things urgently he will deliver.”
“Now that is nice.”
“Very new.  He only offers the service to certain clients.”
“I am glad.  Tells you something.”  David chuckled and nodded.
“At no cost.”
“Even better.”

They
hopped in to the van and David drove home.  Amanda helped him to pack most of his clothes.  Nicola and Victoria packed almost all her clothes.  They loaded the van with as much as they could.
“Your poster sweetheart.  Take it off the wall.  I have space at my feet.  And any other nik naks that you can bring.”  Victoria smiled as Nicola carefully took the poster from the wall.  She packed her little bits and pieces.
“Nicola how would it sound if one day I call Amanda my Mom?”
“You need a Mom.  Everybody needs a Mom.  And I think Amanda would like that.”  Victoria smiled and nodded.

They packed everything and David locked up.  He made sure he had everything.  He drove out and smiled.
“Right.  Home please.”  David chuckled and nodded.
“We are over loaded.”  They all laughed.
“Amazing how one pillow takes up so much space.”  Amanda nodded.
“We need to pack all of those on to the spare beds in your bedrooms.  So that we know where everything is when the time comes.  Oh I will have a lot of packing away to do when we get home.”  David chuckled.
“Cupboard as well.”  Amanda nodded and smiled.
