“Oh, wow, this is gorgeous.”

“Just wait ‘til you see the inside and what I have planned for us. Let’s get checked in.”

Squeezing his hand I’m really excited. I’ve always wanted to stay in New Mexico. I remember mentioning it to him when we first met, but I never thought that he would’ve remembered or actually brought me here.

Check-in is quick and easy. Before we know it, we’re headed on up to our room. Of course he booked a suite. As he opens the door and I’m floored by the modern layout of the expansive room. It has a true hacienda feel to it. The walls are teals and creams, and hanging from the ceiling in the living room are huge clusters of white bubble lights. Bar stools line the full white kitchen with a high bar. The floors are all wood leading into the bedroom. Which is just … oh my, this is amazing. The bed is white with a black illuminated headboard. Authentic pottery is strung in sets of threes hanging down over the nightstands with lights casting the most spectacular shadows.

I turn around and Abel is standing in the doorway. I have wandered so far into the room and am just in awe of this suite. “Abel, this is fucking incredible. I can’t believe you brought me here. Thank you so much.”

He wraps his arms around me and says, “It’s my pleasure, kitten. I take it you like your surprise?”

“Like it? I love it. I’ve always wanted to visit New Mexico.”

“I know, you told me.”

“I can’t believe you remembered.”

“Cara, I remember everything you tell me. When we are together, every new memory is carved into my mind. I know in the past I used women and never cared for any of them enough to want or have a relationship, but you make me want to do things like this. That all changed when you and your smart mouth showed up and flipped my world upside down. I want to prove how much you mean to me and show you that I’m never going to hurt you. I’m not going anywhere, so you better get used to things like this.”

Those words are the purest I’ve ever heard. Looking into his eyes, in that moment I know I’m falling in love with him.

I wake to the noise of the shower and Abel isn’t beside me. I take a few moments to fully wake up and think about what the day holds for us, I wish we didn’t have such a long drive. I feel like secluding myself in this room all day, but we can’t. I step out of bed and look into the bathroom, Abel is fresh out of the shower and drying off. He’s staring at me. “Hey, baby,” I say and walk over to him, kissing him on the lips, looking up into his hazel eyes. I can’t help but grin at him with the thoughts that run through my mind. “What?” he asks.

I lean down and kiss his stomach and then reach for his towel, tearing it off of his waist. That one movement causes his body to stir and everything below his waist awakens. His dick hardens, and I grab it, gripping it tightly and jerking back and forth. Leaning down, he kisses me, consuming my mouth and wrapping me in his hold. Slowing the kiss, he says, “Well, good morning to you, kitten,” and rubs his thumb across my lower lip.

“Good morning,” I say and I drop to my knees. Taking my pink plump lips, I engulf the head of his cock and move down.
God, I love pleasing him.
Still gripping his shaft, I work in unison with my mouth. I moan as I do so and those noises set him on fire. His body begins to shudder and I’m still amazed that I can take him so far, so fast.

Reaching down, he moves his hand and tweaks my nipple, working it between his fingers. I can’t help but bow my chest out towards his hand. As we work together, I glide my hand up his body sending a shiver through him. Resting my hand below his chest, he places his on top of mine and comes violently, filling my mouth and thrusting his hips with the pace I’m keeping.

Once the trembles from within him stop, we make eye contact. Without speaking, I stand and he pins me against the wall; devouring my nipples, taking his time with each, showing them equal attention, as he flicks his tongue back and forth. Running my hands through his hair he lifts me effortlessly. I wrap my legs around his hips and he guides himself inside of me. My pussy is warm and tight like it always is. Keeping my back against the wall, he asks, “Are you ready?”

“Oh God, yes. Please fuck me.”

He chuckles and gets a good grip on my thighs as I lock my fingers behind his neck and we both start to move. I watch our movements and how our bodies work together. I’m not quiet and neither is he. “Let me hear you, baby,” he commands.

We indulge and moan while we fuck. Looking up, our eyes connect. I stare at him with my long blonde hair in my face like he likes. I begin to chew on my bottom lip and grip his shoulders; I know he’s close to coming and I can’t help but take him there. He presses me harder against the wall and I clutch his neck moving my hips with his as we fuck. I know we both like it rough and I love giving him what he wants. As he gives into the intensity of his orgasm, I scream, “Fuck! Abel!” and let go.

Watching him spiral out of this world pleases me as he comes for a second time. My body is covered in sweat and I’m now deadweight in his hold. He’s exhausted me. But I could go all day doing this with him, even if I am drained. Thinking about our future and knowing we have a full life ahead of us, I am content. I no longer question Abel or what we have. Setting me on my own two feet, he tucks my hair behind my ear and I kiss him on the neck. I walk past him to turn the shower on and as I step in, I feel giddy when he follows me in. Closing the door behind him, I look up and he is giving me that look. I know he’s not finished with me — but I’m not finished with him either.

My phone rings and I dig it out of my purse. “Hi, Mom.”

“Cara, where are you? I can’t keep dinner warm all night.”

“We’re close, Mom, only about fifteen minutes away.”

“Oh, so that boy did come with you?”

“He’s not a boy. He’s a man and has a name, which is Abel. I would love it if you could call him by that?”

She huffs and says, “Oh, God. Like Abel from the Bible? The one who killed his brother?”

I can’t contain the giggle that escapes. “Abel was actually the one who got murdered, Mom. But there are no coincidences with my Abel, I promise.” I look over at him shaking his head.

“Just come in and take your shoes off when you get here. Dinner is ready and if you’re a minute past 6:25, then we’re eating without you.”

“Goodbye, Mom.” I hang up my phone and put my face in my hands. Just two days of her neurotic ways — I can do this.

“What was that about me being murdered?” Abel asks.

“When I told my mom your name, she related it back to the Bible. Like I’ve said before she is a little out there. Whatever you do, don’t tell her that Vincent’s real name is Kane, okay?”

He chuckles. “Got it. Now come give me some attention before we get there. I’m sure your mother won’t let me near you and my dick is angry that we can’t sleep in the same bed.”

I want to straddle his lap, demand he pull the truck over and shower him with kisses, but I know that will make us late and I don’t need the wrath of Marla right now. Instead, I begin by kissing, sucking, and devouring every bit of him I can. Making my way down, I start by pulling up his shirt and taking my time with his six-pack.

“Thank you again for doing this and for last night. I loved the hotel; it was way over the top and I don’t know how to repay you,” I say as I come up for air.

“Of course. It was something I’ve wanted to do for a while now and you don’t need to repay me. I’m glad you liked it. Hopefully we can go back and visit again,” he says putting the truck in park and kissing me behind my ear.

“This is it,” I say, looking over at the two-story stucco house. It looks the same — dark brown with lots of cacti, a long walkway leading up to the wooden door. Abel grabs my hand as we walk inside.

“Hey, we’re here.” I yell and take my flip-flops off. Abel does the same and my sister, Amber, comes running to greet us. She doesn’t take a second to stop and notice Abel as she crashes into me and presses me into the door. Wrapping my arms around her, she smells like home, reminding me of when we were kids.

“Oh my God, Cara, I have missed the shit out of you. Why are you so fucking skinny?”

My mom yells out, “Watch your mouth, Amber. And Cara, make sure you both put clean socks on before you step on my floors.”

We both laugh and I say, “No shit, she’s still at it with the socks?”

Amber points to the basket with
brand new,
fresh, white cotton socks in it. I grab us each a pair and put them on as I say to my sister, “I miss you too, honey. I don’t know how you deal with her. However, on a better note, Amber, this is my boyfriend, Abel. Abel, this is my sister, Amber.”

He extends his hand to shake hers, “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. Cara has told me great things about you.”

She skips shaking his hand and hugs him, thankfully not with as much force as she did with me. “I’m so happy that you’re here. Cara has told me all about you and I couldn’t be happier for you two.”

I look to Abel and swear his face is a little red … is he blushing?

“Thanks, Amber.”

She smiles at us both, rocking back on her heels. “Should we go and see Mom?”

“After you, ladies.” Abel raises his arm to gesture that we lead him back to the kitchen. As we walk, my nerves are calmed by Abel’s hand pressed to the small of my back. The last time I brought a guy home, my mom purposefully spilled food on him so he had to leave dinner early. Let’s just say that was all the way back in high school. I don’t know why my mom has always been weird about me dating, but she has. Then when my dad passed, she really lost it. Before we round the corner, Abel says to me, “Take a breath, kitten. It’s going to be okay.”

I nod my head and say, “Hey, Mom,” looking at what once was a prim and proper woman. Standing before us is a woman I hardly recognize. She has aged and I can see that in her eyes. Her once-blonde hair is now mixed with strands of silver. It’s now long and shaggy and no longer cut in her signature bob.

“Cara, you made it. And right on time, might I add.”

Geez.
Thanks, Mom
, I kiss her on the cheek. “Mom, this is my boyfriend, Abel. Abel, this is my mother, Marla.”

He extends his hand to hers, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Savannah.”

“Marla will do. You don’t need to try and be proper with me.”

“Marla it is.”

“Alright, why don’t you all wash up before you head out back? Please make sure you use the Softsoap and this hand towel to dry off with.”

I roll my eyes at Abel as we abide to my mother’s crazy hand washing rules before heading to the back patio. Stepping outside it’s extremely hot, but this was my father’s favorite place to eat, so it doesn’t surprise me this is where she wants us to eat. As we all get settled, the sight of the backyard brings back so many memories. This is the house I grew up in. I remember him teaching me how to swim in this pool and how to ride my bike without training wheels on this very patio. Staring off, I get lost in the memories. I remember like it was yesterday …

Abel squeezes my thigh under the table, pulling me back into the moment. I look over to him with tears in my eyes and wipe them away. “Are you okay?” he asks.

“Yeah, I am,” I say leaning over and planting a soft, tear-stained kiss on his cheek. I notice my mom looking at us and her expression is unreadable.

“Marla, the food looks amazing,” Abel says.

“That’s what Jack always said. Now don’t be shy; you all can dig in.”

I laugh a little. “Oh God, you don’t have to tell him twice.”

“I like a boy with an appetite,” my mom murmurs. I look over at her with a glare in my eyes. “So, tell us Abel — what do you do for a living?” she asks.

“I’m a firefighter, ma’am.”

I roll my eyes at Abel. “What?” he asks.

“You don’t have to be modest here. Abel is the fire chief.”

“No shit,” Amber blurts out. “That’s awesome! Do you guys really live at the fire station and slide down poles?”

“Amber!” my mom snaps.

Abel chuckles, “Yeah, we live at the station a few days a week, and there are poles that we slide down when we get a call.”
