Colleen: "Joel, I stand before you today, honored and excited as I am about to become your wife. I thank the Lord for the enduring and patient love He has given us these past seven years. You are a loving, gentle and kind man. You're devoted and committed to serving others and the Lord. You are the love of my life and I am so blessed with the gift of spending the rest of my life with you.
"As we become husband and wife today, I promise to love you with an unending and unconditional love. I will honor and respect you; comfort and cherish you. May I bring you good, not harm, all the days of my life. I will stand by you and submit to you as God guides us to do His will.
"I will be with you in sickness and in health, whether we are rich or poor, and during the times when we are filled with joy or when we are filled with sorrow. I will not leave you.
"Joel, I will be yours alone as long as God allows us to live."
Joel: "Today, I have come to commit my love to you. Although I come with a fallible love, I promise to strive to love you as Christ has loved the church. I promise to cherish you in times of joy and despair, to care for you when you are sick and in health, to hope with you now and forever, to protect you and not to harm you, to love you and to forsake all others.
"I promise to love you as scripture commands me to, 'for love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always hopes,

always perseveres. Where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away, but love...love never fails. And now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love, but the greatest of these is Love.'
''Although calamity and darkness may surround us, I promise to be here when you need me. Although the world values 'being in love,' I promise to love you even if the feelings of love go away. Before our friends and family, before you, and before my Lord and Savior, I commit these promises to you."
Joel and Colleen are presently teaching school in Southern California, and when I spoke to them recently on the telephone they sure sounded happy.
