Bride: "God blessed me the day I found you."
Groom: "And you are God's indescribable gift to me."
Bride: "You give purpose to my life."
Groom: "And you make each day a special day for me."

Groom: "And my true love for you is demonstrated by my promise to care for you always, putting you first in my life."
Bride: "I want to share my life with you; I want you there at my side to face all the joys and despairs of the future."
Groom: "I promise to be there for you always, to help you, comfort you, encourage you and lift you up, no matter what the circumstances."
Bride: "I give myself to you, wholly, with joy, to be your faithful wife and the mother of your children. Please accept my love."
Groom: "I give myself to you, wholly, with joy, to be your faithful husband and the father of our children. Please accept my love."
Up Close and Personal
On July 29, 1995, my husband and I had the privilege of attending the wedding of Colleen Nelson and Joel Blomenkamp. What made this wedding so extra-special was not only that they wrote their own poignant, personalized wedding vows, but that they had waited seven long years, determined to graduate from college before getting married. They were high school sweethearts, of course, and graduated together from Biola University, she with a bachelor of arts degree in liberal studies; his was in social science. Here are the vows they wrote, memorized and flawlessly recited to each other:
