Green leaf extracts of
Ginkgo biloba
are commercially available everywhere as “standard preparations.” They are recommended to improve fluid circulation in the arteries, capillaries, veins or within the brain.
All these botanicals are prepared with various methods, but nevertheless exhibit certain contraindications. They must be applied in low dosages.

Prepared under proprietary conditions in a completely unorthodox way, and choosing material harvested at a different period in the maturation cycle of the plant, Beljanski obtained another product that he first named
Bioparyl.
This extract is made from the golden leaves of the
Ginkgo
, not the green leaves, and has been shown to play an important role in the regulation of various protein activities, in particular enzymatic proteins involved in cell mechanisms. Prepared according to the proprietary procedure developed by Beljanski, this relabeled golden-leaf
Ginkgo
extract is completely different from all other green extracts derived from the plant.

Ginkgo
and Radiation Treatment

It is well-established that exposure to radiation increases reactive oxygen in the tissues, producing oxidative stress, a chemical process that disallows the body to detoxify itself and/or repair the resulting damage and free radicals formation. Free radicals are molecules in the body that are considered dangerous because they are highly chemically reactive.

At low doses, radiation may incite body burns. At higher doses, radiation may break the chemical bonds that hold the sides of the DNA ladder together as well as produce base alterations in the rungs of the DNA ladder (changing around the C,G, T, and A combinations). It can also cause the molecular strands of the DNA to break, particularly on the single separated strands of destabilized DNA, and the damage is often compounded when chemotherapy is added to the treatment.

Throughout the various chapters of this book, I have emphasized the continually increasing and additive effects of environmental pollutants on DNA. The same cumulative effect occurs with ionizing radiation and/or chemotherapy. At relatively low doses of radiation, whether from the sun or cosmic rays or X-rays or microwaves, tissue burns are the first adverse side effect to occur. Medical and laboratory scientists have shown that approximately 25 percent of radiation burns induce some benign but mostly malignant tumors and that the lowered immunity resulting from such radiation and/or chemotherapy predisposes malignant degeneration.
It is therefore important for each individual to protect his or her skin from burns, whether from the sun or from ionizing radiation. The golden leaf
Ginkgo biloba
plant extract prepared according to Dr. Mirko Beljanski’s proprietary technique has been widely utilized in Europe for the last twenty-five years. Since the consequences of serious burns appear several months or even years later, it is interesting to evaluate the protection and satisfaction of those people who have used the
Ginkgo
extract over a length of time. Natural Source, International in conjunction with the CIRIS organization sent a questionnaire to Europeans who had undergone radiation therapy and used Beljanski’s
Ginkgo biloba
to protect themselves from burns or fibrosis. Fibrosis is an abnormal amount of scar-like or fibrous tissue which may appear in skin and/or organs following injury, inflammation, burns, and radiation. Of the more than one hundred responses received and tabulated, CIRIS reports that 50 percent of the responders stated they did not experience any radiation burns, 38 percent felt the equivalent of a sunburn, and 4 percent of the patients’ burns were of a more serious nature. Only one patient, who received two times the normal level of radiation, experienced a thirddegree burn. This survey is highly suggestive that the golden leaf
Ginkgo
extract helps to handle, if not alleviate altogether, the burns associated with radiation.

Radiation Induced Fibrosis

Radiation burns also produce fibrosis in the affected areas. The scar tissue that forms as a result of radiation exposure is insidious; it changes into diseased tissue six to twelve months after the radiation exposure.

Excessive alcohol intake can also produce fibrosis, which can lead to cirrhosis, a serious and life-threatening liver disease. In the United States each year, two-hundred thousand patients develop pulmonary fibrosis. Of these people, more than forty-thousand die annually from pneumonia, cystic fibrosis, lung fibrosis, and other associated fibrotic problems that have all been caused by persistent radiation.

How radiation toxicity may lead to fibrosis is not yet precisely known. Beljanski showed that in many cases, if not in all types of fibrosis, there are changes in nucleases, which are closely linked biochemically to collagen production. Collagen is the fibrous protein found in bone, cartilage, ligaments, skin, etc. This may explain how the
Ginkgo biloba
extract he developed diminishes scar formation, protects against fibrosis, preserves skin from undergoing the stressors of radiation burns, reduces the other numerous problems associated with chemotherapy, and neutralizes the immunological trauma connected with serious surgery. That is an impressive array of effects created by one herbal extract.

As is the case with all of Beljanski’s discoveries, the science is complex but readily available to those who wish to find it in his published works. What is important to know is that Dr. Beljanski spent hundreds of hours studying ribonucleases extensively as well as the effect golden leaf
Ginkgo biloba
had on regulating cellular disruptions.

The particular golden-leaf
Ginkgo biloba
extract that Dr. Beljanski developed proved to be an excellent regulator/normalizer for numerous proteins and particularly nucleases. By its regulatory and normalizing effect on cell enzymes, it enhances the natural cell repair process and helps the tissues to remain healthy, even when they are exposed to extreme physiological stressors. That is why it is so helpful for people undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. Like the RNA fragments, but working with a different mechanism, the
Ginkgo
allows radiation to do its dirty work on the cancer cells while protecting the healthy noncancerous cells. Selectivity in action, once again is exhibited, and integration with mainstream cancer therapies is obvious.

Protein Markers

By 1977, Dr. Beljanski understood that in any kind of living organism during its lifetime, little by little, the DNA accumulates substances which destabilize it. At a certain threshold of destabilization, the cellular DNA becomes deregulated, dysfunctional, and abnormal. This marks the first appearance of disease. DNA then excessively synthesizes cancer molecules— the start of cancer tumors. It is a horribly predictable cycle.

The medical community has come to rely on this cycle, however, for something called cancer “markers” to predict the onset of cancer as well as to gauge how effective (or not) their treatments are. These markers are actually proteins with names such as Prostate Specific Antigens (PSA), the marker for prostate cancer, and are generally the tell-tale signs of the start (or the abatement, if used after treatment) of cancer in a tissue, organ, or other body part.

Because protein synthesis is a vital part of the replication process, too much replication (especially that which is induced by unscheduled replication) produces too much protein. When proteins are synthesized in excess by diseased cells, they become “cancer markers.” There are many different cancer or tumor markers, and they’re used in oncology to help detect the presence of cancer. These markers indicate the DNA destabilization already underway. As the process continues on
ad infinitum
, it contributes to a physiological snowball effect. Dr. Beljanski was keenly aware of cancer markers and the seemingly irreversibility of the process.
I have no doubt the idea of “irreversibility” spurred Beljanski on to further research, and he found an answer in his golden-leafed
Ginkgo
extract.

Golden-leaf
Ginkgo
has shown itself to normalize the replication process of DNA that is marked by an excess of protein in the blood. Science has discovered protein markers for all disease; there are markers for inflammation, bone metabolism, carcinogenesis, and many more. These various proteins are very frequently generated in significant excess during the course of certain illnesses.

Bringing these protein markers back to normal values helps to restrain the progress of a disease that is underway. Through a complex process of chemical reactions on RNA and DNA, regular intake of the
Ginkgo biloba
golden leaf extract makes this normalization of proteins possible, making it, yet again, an ideal substance for integrative cancer therapies now and in the future.

While it needs more research in modern American laboratories, as of this date, Dr. Beljanski’s
Ginkgo biloba
extract, like his other products, has shown no history of adverse side effects. Over time it normalizes any abnormal enzymatic activity the patient may be experiencing due to disease, toxic treatments, or radiation. It largely contributes to homeostasis by re-establishing the balance of enzymatic activity, and by facilitating the immunity through a group of specific substances.

Time for an Evolution

Those in the alternative-health community have come to distrust the products produced by Big Pharma as much as Big Pharma distrusts plant-based holistic botanicals upon which the alternative crowd relies so heavily. But with such promising results shown by the Pao pereira,
R. vomitoria
, RNA fragments, and golden-leafed
Ginkgo biloba
, is it not time to swallow our collective pride and admit that they should be included in mainstream integrative therapies?

I believe that true integration must include natural substances that are scientifically proven to be non-toxic and selective. These criteria are absolutely vital if we are truly going to find a cure for cancer that will consistently work most of the time. (“Most” because even though modern medicine now knows how to cure pneumonia, for example, it is still a deadly disease to some. Cancer, as with all disease, will always take a certain percentage of the population, no matter how effective our treatments become.)

There has been an enormous amount of research done on various cancer-fighting agents. Mirko Beljanski’s decades of painstaking research gave us some of the greatest gifts to humanity: the revelation of cancerous DNA, the Oncotest, RNA-fragments along with the life-saving botanicals Pao Pereira,
R. vomitoria
, and golden-leafed
Ginkgo
. The science shows that his discoveries help alleviate the problems associated with standard cancer treatments
thereby making the standard treatments more effective.

Before doing the research for this book, if I were to hear that dreaded sentence, “You have cancer,” I would have staunchly held to the alternative treatments. Now, I wouldn’t hesitate to incorporate what I know from
all
available treatments and beat the supposedly unbeatable.

Now is the time for an evolution of thought on both sides of the healing fence, establishment and holistic. Let’s rise above the contention between the two camps. Lives are at stake. Our own lives as well as those we love are needlessly being lost because of a stubborn refusal to look seriously at the research already accomplished.

There is still much work to be done to show that the bolt molecules, the RNA fragments, and the specially prepared
Ginkgo biloba
extract work to enhance conventional oncological treatment.

There is no time like the present to start.

Case Study of Melanoma

“In April 2004, the tiny pimple-like bump on my thigh turned into a nightmare of distress for me. The mole-like tumor was eventually diagnosed as melanoma, a somewhat rare cancer. It required immediate removal. I was hospitalized for diagnostic testing and to ascertain my required cancer markers in order to detect whether any further tumors had developed. Even then, at sixty-two years of age, I was devastated by the thought of early death. I cried everyday as I waited for my results from the surgeon’s skin biopsy.” Thus began the story of French homemaker Madame Eliane Escalon (Mme. Escalon).

“The results finally came back. Yes, it was melanoma; I was nevertheless determined to put up a fight.”

Melanoma is a cancer that originates in melanocytes, the pigmentproducing cells of the skin. Melanocytes ordinarily give skin its distinctive color, but sunlight stimulates them to produce more melanin, the pigment that darkens the skin and increases the risk of a melanoma cancer. The lesion can begin as a new, small, pigmented skin growth on normal skin, most often on sun-exposed areas, or it may develop from preexisting pigmented moles. Sometimes melanoma runs in families. It spreads, or metastasizes, to distant parts of the body where the tumor continues to grow and destroy tissue. It’s not uncommon for the melanoma lesion to appear as a firm black or gray lump as described by Mme. Escalon.

Chemotherapy is used to treat melanomas that have spread, but few are cured. Some of the people treated live less than nine months; however, the course of the disease varies greatly and depends in part on the strength of the body’s immune defenses. Mme. Escalon was one of the fortunate few whose immune ability was receptive to outside help, specifically to the group of correctives that had been developed by Mirko Beljanski, Ph.D. This melanoma victim went on to explain how Beljanski’s products came into her possession.

“One evening, a woman in the hospital who was there as a patient asked if she could speak with me. I agreed, although I had no desire to talk about the disease that was ruining my life,” continued Mme. Escalon. “Yet, it seemed as if fate had sent this person just in time to lift my spirits. The woman told me of her own mother, who also was given a death sentence by her oncologists and yet lives in full health thanks to Dr. Mirko Beljanski’s herbal supplements. Beljanski was deceased by then. Having never heard of him or his plant products before, and knowing that this woman would be leaving the hospital the next day, I asked her to give me more specific information, which she did.
