Chapter Fifteen

Cain sat in the chair, his arms resting on the leather bar in front of him as Pierce inked his back. The sting of the needle going into his flesh was painful as much as it was calming.

“It’s looking good, man,” Pierce said and inked one more spot before turning off the gun and cleaning Cain’s back. “You’re all set.”

Cain got off the chair and walked over to the full-length mirror hanging on the wall. This room in the clubhouse was temporarily being used as a tattoo shop for the guys. Someone was always getting fresh ink, and today it just happened to be Cain. Pierce was busy talking off his gloves, cleaning his hands, and wiping off the machine and area they’d just used. Cain grabbed the hand mirror on the table and turned around, able to see his back now. The thick, curved, Old English font letters of his woman’s name that were inked between his shoulder blades stood out. They showed his love, his commitment for what he cared about, and he wore it with pride.

“You like it?” Pierce asked.

“It’s good, really good.” He looked at Pierce. “Thanks for doing this. You did an outstanding job.”

“You think your woman will like it?”

“I know Violet will love it. I fucking love it.”

Pierce nodded, and there was pride in the man’s face.

Violet walked in just then, her eyes wide as she stared at his back. “Cain, it’s huge.”

Pierce snorted. “That’s what she said.”

Cain narrowed his eyes at the other member. “Man, really? Get the fuck going,” Cain said on a chuckle.

Pierce grinned, packed up his inking supplies, and winked at Violet on the way out.

Cain shook his head, and a smile filtered across his face. “Sorry about that. He’s the immature one out of the lot.”

She smiled, her focus still on his back. “I can’t believe you really did this.”

He turned around to face her fully, set the mirror down, grabbed her arms, and stared into her face. “I love you, baby, and this is just me showing you on my body that you and me are it. There is no going back, no backing out. You’re in my blood, in my very soul.”

She smiled, and the love he saw in her eyes for him made every bad thing he’d ever done in his fucked up life all worth it. He had a brotherhood, healthy daughter that was happy, and now this woman that he didn’t deserve. He was a bastard, had darkness that never left him, but with Violet there was that light, that silver lining. She was his happily ever after, and man, he’d do everything in his power never to fuck that up. He pulled her close and kissed her.

“You’re mine, Violet.”

“And you’re mine.”

Yeah he was, and fuck did it feel good.

Several months later

Cain sat at one of the picnic table set out behind the Brothers clubhouse. It was a hot fucking day even though it wasn’t even summer yet. The two grills were simultaneously cooking meat for the BBQ, celebrating nothing in particular. Today was just about everyone getting together. Callie, their VP’s daughter, was also the old lady to Lucien. The president of The Brothers was fiercely protective of the young woman and held her around the waist it was like he thought she’d float away or some shit, but then again all of the men that had settled down with old ladies were. Malice and his old lady Adrianna were over by the trees. The Sergeant at Arms had his woman in a protective hold, whispering something in her ear that had her blushing. Cain turned his focus away from the couple and saw Kink and his old lady, Cookie, over by the trees, the shade blocking out the harsh as hell rays of the sun. Cain brought his beer to his mouth and took a long drink. The club girls were moving around the back property, serving drinks and sitting and talking with the single members. Even though there were old ladies for some members, a lot of the guys were still unclaimed, and stayed that way. But Cain was surprised as hell that Kink, Malice, and Lucien had claimed a woman for their own. Hell, he was surprised he had taken on an old lady. He had never seen himself settling down, because the club was his life, and he always saw himself dying protecting the MC, alone and still young. But now he had Violet, loved her more than anything else in this fucking world, save for his club and his baby girl, but Violet had woken something up inside of him. Violet had made his cold, dead heart beat again, and even if Cain was still a cold blooded killer, would do the same in a heartbeat to ensure the MC, or anyone he loved and was under his protection was safe, he felt warmth and light when he was with Violet.

He looked over at his woman, saw the slight swell of her belly, and smiled. He loved her, fucking hell did he love her, and soon they would be a family. She might only be a few months pregnant with their first child, but it was
his
baby she carried,
his
seed that had been planted inside of her and was helping to grow that miracle in her belly. God, he was going to be a father again, and although he knew he was getting older, he wanted so much life with Violet. He wanted Fallina to finally have siblings, wanted her to be surrounded by a huge family that wasn’t just the club. She might have always been around the guys, loved by them all and kept safe, but he wanted her to have that connection she didn’t have while growing up.

He stared at his little girl, who was now a grown woman. She was so damn smart, growing stronger every day that her past and that traumatic experience were put behind her, and he was so proud of her, proud of Violet, too. They had experienced so much in their young years, but they’d flourished and bloomed into the beautiful women they were today.

Fallina placed her hand on Violet’s belly. He had also worried that Fallina would have been upset over the fact he and Violet were together, but his daughter had been supportive, even a little excited at the situation. He didn’t get into shit like that with his daughter, certainly had never spoken about his personal love life with Fallina, but she’d accepted it all so easily.

“Life’s good, man,” Tuck said from beside him. The scar on the biker’s face stood out. “Just need to wait for that sweet ass club pussy to get over here. I’ll take her to my room in the clubhouse, and then I’m going to fuck her until she can’t walk.”

Cain chuckled, glad Tuck had the common sense not to shout that since there were club family members in attendance. But Tuck was already drunk, smelled like alcohol, and slurred his words.

“You’re already two sheets to the fucking wind,” Cain said and took a drink of his beer, his gaze trained on Violet. His woman was laughing, her dark hair now touching her hips in long, silky waves. Damn, he loved her hair, loved how she looked with it draped over her body when she was naked, especially with her rounded belly. His woman was thick and gorgeous as it was, but knowing she was pregnant with his child, getting bigger with each passing month, had this primal side rising up inside of him.

“You’re fucking lucky, Cain,” Tuck said, his words slightly slurring. “You got all the shit in the world now. Makes a brother jealous.”

Cain looked at Tuck, and knew where the man’s thoughts were without hearing the words. He wanted that new girl that was staying at the club, Jana Cain thought her name was. Cain glanced at the back area, but didn’t see her. In fact, he hadn’t seen her since last night, right before she’d gone to pick up her son. “If you want her more than just a wet slit to slide your dick in, then hit it up.”

Tuck scrubbed a hand over his face. “Nah, I would be no good to an old lady. Hell, I party too much as it is, like the raunchy kind of sex, and what woman wants to be strapped to a fucking mug like mine?” Tuck ran a hand over his scar and chuckled humorlessly. And even if the other man was trying to make light of it, there was this gruffness to his voice that couldn’t be hidden from Cain. But if Tuck didn’t want to talk about it that was okay with Cain because it wasn’t his fucking business. He had his old lady, had a healthy daughter, a baby on the way, and a brotherhood of men that were his family despite them not sharing blood.

Pierce walked over to Fallina, and Cain stiffened.

“Relax, man,” Tuck said. “Pierce has been going to that titty bar across town to see some stripper he’s gotten hard-up for.”

That had Cain relaxing marginally, especially when Fallina kept a good distance from the member. Violet walked over to him, the dress she wore long, loose, and the material flowing around her body. She was hot as hell, and all his.

“Hey, baby.” He grabbed her around the waist and pulled her forward. She was on his lap, her ass big and plump, and his cock hardened instantly.

“I can feel that,” she whispered by his ear.

“Yeah, you can.”

She started chuckling softly, and he cupped her chin in a firm hold and placed his lips on hers. He didn’t care who in the hell saw him giving lovin’ to his woman. He’d do it all day every fucking day, no matter who was around. This woman right here in his lap meant the world to him, and it was because of her that he had gotten his head out of his ass and realized that he could find love, could find comfort. It was because of Violet that he realized there was salvation in the arms of a loving, warm woman, even for a murdering bastard like him.

“Oh God, someone, please. Please help.”

Cain turned and looked at Bobbie, who came out of the clubhouse with Jana’s little boy in her arms. She was crying, her short black hair with platinum streaks a wild mess around her face, as if she had been running frantically through the clubhouse. Cain set Violet on the ground gently, and pulled her close. He stared at Bobbie as she rushed up to Lucien and Callie, started talking adamantly, then broke down and started crying. She held the little boy tighter, and collapsed on the ground. Lucien looked fierce, said something to Callie, and Cain watched as the old lady of the MC gathered the women and ushered them inside. He pushed Violet toward the clubhouse, not knowing what in the hell was going on, but if the women were being told to go into the safety of the club, Cain knew shit was going down. Lucien gestured for the club members to head inside, and when everyone was in the meeting room Lucien shut the door and swore loudly.

“Prez, what in the fuck is going on?” Tuck asked, the member not acting drunk anymore. In fact, he looked damn near pissed and juiced up with whatever was happening.

Lucien stared at all of them, and finally, when the president of the MC breathed out, the pit in Cain’s stomach twisted with words that hadn’t even been spoken yet.

“Bobbie said Jana was supposed to come by early this morning and pick up her son, but she never came by. In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen Jana since last night when she headed outside to make a call.”

The tension in the room grew, as did the angry heat.

“Bobbie came to the club right away when she couldn’t get a hold of Jana, and she knew she should have come already to get her kid.”

“What the fuck is going on then? Where the hell is she?” Tuck was the one to speak, and the other members looked at him. Cain saw the raw energy and confusion in the scarred member’s face, knew that for as much as Tuck might deny he wanted something more with the woman he wasn’t being honest with himself or others.

“I don’t know what the fuck is going on, but we’ll find out. Jana may have only been helping the club for a few months, but she is under our protection and we’ll find out where in the hell she is.”

There was a deep murmur of agreement throughout the room.

“And we’ll take down anyone that thought they could take something or someone from this club,” Tuck said, and the energy ratcheted up a degree.

Lucien breathed out, ran a hand over his short dark hair, and seemed to stare at all of them seemingly at the same time. “We’re in lockdown until this shit gets solved, and Jana gets brought back safely.”

Nothing was ever easy with the club or the ones under their protection, but there was always a small glimmer of hope that presented itself. But shit like this, dark shit that consumed and threatened to take everything away, brought out the monsters in the civilized parts of them. They were humans, only men, but fuck the ones that hurt the people they cared about or who were in their protection. All hell would break loose, and the Brothers of Menace would let the beasts out to ensure what was theirs stayed that way.
