Starting the engine of the car he slipped away into the darkness. The last couple of days had not given him much to report on to Felicity. A bunch of flowers and a kiss from her boss hardly constituted Stephanie cheating on James. As fo

Charlotte, apart from some pictures of her dancing in the club wearing next to nothing, she was just a teenage girl in love. All be it an extremely attractive teenage girl who held Mitchell captive to her thrall. Turning up the long driveway to Felicity’s house for his weekly report meeting Keith knew he had nothing to show for his surveillance work, nothing meant no money and an ear bashing too.

Upstairs in his room Mitchell turned t

Charlotte

“I’d better pop and see Mum tomorrow before I leave, will you be ok if I go alone” he asked.

“I guess so, just don’t be too long as it’s our last weekend together before you leave” Charlie responded. Every time she thought about that woman she felt angry about the past and scared for her Mum in the future.

“I’ll try not to be” he replied, feeling her hand working it’s way up his thigh in the way she knew he loved. Thoughts of tomorrow fled his mind as he felt her move from beside him to atop, straddling his body with the fluidity of a constrictor with it’s prey. Her skin slid against his, so smooth and burning with heat.

“Make love to m

Charlotte, I need to feel your heart beating with mine” he said, before his lips kissed their trail down her neck and throat. His passion was so intense he marked her skin with his voracious appetite. Charlie felt it as she moaned loudly into his shoulder and the passion throbbed inside her like a speaker on full blast. Then as Mitchell filled her; the beat increased as they crashed against each other, love and lust wrapped around them. Whilst downstairs James lifted me into his arms and carried me upstairs to our room so that he could continue what we had started in the kitchen.

Chapter 36

In the morning I was surprised to see Mitchell already drinking a coffee in the kitchen it looked like he had been dancing as a slight sheen of sweat clung to his forearms.

“Morning Steph, can I get you a coffee”

“Thanks Mitchell, make that two as James is not far behind me” I replied. We had decided to go shopping for some new things for the house but we had a date with a dog walk first.

“Morning Mitch, what are your plans for the day” James asked, strolling in and planting a slap on my arse as he walked past. I swotted at him playfully and grinned.

“I’m going to go and see Mum then take Charlie out for lunch as I need to buy a couple of things before I finish my packing” he replied. I spotted James wince at the image of Felicity that must have popped up in his mind at her mention.

“Is Charlie going with you” I asked, cautiously.

“No, she said she wanted a lie in and to do some un-packing so I’m off by myself….probably better that way” he said, pouring another 2 cups of coffee and heading for the door.

“I’m off to wake her up now” he said. James opened the cupboard and paused.

“So what would you like for breakfast” he asked.

“Surprise me” I replied, feeling in a mischievous mood. I turned the radio on and re-filled the percolator before finding some glasses and orange juice. After a few minutes I was presented with a bowl of muesli covered in yogurt and sprinkled with fresh banana slices.

I tucked in immediately and smiled across at James sitting opposite me.

“You like” he asked.

“I could get used to this” I replied. In the background I listened to “Wake me up before you go-go” and quickly turned it up, thinking it was a great tune for the day we had planned together.

“So where do you want to shop, close to home or shall we try some of the larger retail parks on the edge o

Birmingham” he asked.

“Let’s go large first and then head back for the town as there are certainly a few interesting places I would like to check out” I responded.

Charlie appeared in the kitchen and sat down next to me at the table.

“Morning Mum, James” she said, her fingers wrapped tightly around her empty mug.

“Are you ok, sweetheart” I asked.

“Sort of, think I need some food before I go and keep busy for the morning as Mitchell is going to see her” she replied.

Looking at the remains in my bowl Charlie moved to get up.

“I’ll just help myself then” she said.

“Well it’s your kitchen now” James replied “But if you want I’ll do you a bowl of the same, since you asked”

“Great, Mitch will have some too” she finished, managing to fill her coffee mug and then doing mine and James’ too.

“Cheeky” James laughed at her, then he smiled across at me and I just nodded. I could see she was enjoying the whole atmosphere of our new home, hers before mine and the dynamics of the relationship we shared. Mitchell appeared already dressed for his bike but was happy to delay for a further half an hour to eat breakfast with us all.

on the front step Mitch dragged his bike out and straddled it. Charlie watched with desire and a hint of sadness in her eyes, it was going to be a hundred times worse on Monday at the airport, at least this was only for the morning. Raising his hand he waved and then sped off down the road, missing the feel of Charlie’s body pressed against his back. His bike made short work of the road and he was soon heading up the impressive driveway towards the farmhouse. Once again Daniel opened the door and Mitch walked through the house into his Mum’s large kitchen. She was perched on a breakfast stool nibbling on a cracker spread with caviar.

As Mitchell entered the room she paused and looked up at her son.

“Hi Mitchell, so nice of you to come and visit” she murmured.

“Have a cup of coffee” waving her arm around the expanse of the kitchen.

“Ok” Mitch said, gingerly pecking her on the cheek as he moved around the kitchen and wished that he hadn’t come.

“So have you finished with that little bitch” she calmly asked. Mitch paused for breath trying not to let his anger rise at her comment.

“If you’re referring to Charlotte then no Mum, we are still very much together and in love. In fact she moved in this weekend” Mitch said, determined to defend Charlie when she wasn’t here with him.

“Oh” Felicity said, turning away as her face couldn’t hide the fact that she already knew this.

Drinking his coffee he watched his Mum sip at her glass of champagne, he couldn’t believe that this news had not shocked her so he continued.

“Yes, Stephanie is moving in at the end of the month as she has a new job i

as station manager for Love Shack radio” he finished. Felicity scratched her nails slowly along the black granite worktop. They didn’t leave a mark but sure as hell made an awful sound. Now Mitchell knew she was upset especially when she turned towards him and he could see it burning in her eyes.

“I hope they will be really happy together…really happy” the sarcasm dripped from her voice, oozing like a poison through the air.

“Yes I do too Mum after all you remarried and now you’re with Daniel” Mitch pointed out.

It was at that point that Daniel appeared in the doorway.

“On your own today then, n
o
Charlotte” he asked, smirking.

“She’s a little busy unpacking her clothes and things otherwise she would have come” Mitch replied, taking a glance at his watch and wishing he was there helping her instead.

“So what’s this news you came to tell me as I’m sure it’s more important than your little girlfriend moving in”

“I’m off to the States on Monday, I’ve got a 6 week tour with a rap artist over there as a dancer” Mitch explained.

“Congratulations that’s brilliant news, will you be i

at all” Felicity asked.

“I think so” Mitch replied “It’s somewhere towards the end as we’re starting on the West Coast and then travelling back across to the East”

Mitch watched Felicity move from her seat to her handbag, she rummaged around and pulled out an envelope.

“There’s some money in there for you, although I hope you’re being paid for this” she said, handing it to him. Then she grabbed a pen and found a piece of paper on the side. Scribbling down a name and number she handed that to him too.

“This is the number for one of my friends who is out there, give her a call as she has a lovely daughter you could meet” Felicity said “You must remember Madeleine and her daughter Olivia, I think she might be a couple of years older than you but hey every man needs an older woman in their life” Felicity remarked, winking at Daniel.

“I’ll send her your mobile phone number so she can give you a call in case you forget”

“Thanks Mum” Mitchell said, realising that now was not the time to retaliate. The only girl he wanted and needed wa

and going without her was tearing him apart.

After some more small talk Mitchell rose to leave.

“I’d better get going Mum, I’ve still got a lot of packing to do” Mitch said, as way of excuse.

“That’s a shame I was going to offer to take you out to lunch” Felicity said, mournfully.

“Next time Mum, but I’ve promised Charlie I’d be back” he apologised “But thanks for the extra cash and I’ll give you a call when I’m over there”

She pulled him in for a hug and whispered in his ear

“I’ll keep an eye o

for you; make sure she’s a good girl while you’re away. I think I will give her a call and suggest a shopping trip so that we can get to know each other a little better”

“I’m not sure she’ll be interested” Mitch responded cautiously.

“Well you never know, I might surprise her with my generosity” Felicity smiled “After all if she really is the girl for you then we need to get along”

Feeling slightly bemused by Felicity’s change of opinion Mitch grabbed his helmet and headed out through the door. He turned to see his Mum wave from the window and then Daniel did the same as he closed the door. Driving back towards home Mitch replayed the conversation in his mind, why his Mum’s sudden change of heart towards Charlie? Or was she just playing her usual games? Arriving in the driveway by the time he dismounted Charlie was jumping into his arms.

“I’ve missed you, but you must come and see your room now” she breathed, kissing him and then pulling him into the house. Mitchell climbed the stairs and outside the door Charlie turned to him.

“Close your eyes” she said. He did as he was asked and then she took his hand and he walked inside.

Opening his eyes he looked around in amazement, Charlie had turned his bed around, changed the duvet cover to one of hers and added some extra cushions. His shelf no longer held just his books and DVD’s but a mixture of both of theirs along with a couple of her soft toys. The whole room looked totally different but in a great way, it portrayed both of their personalities now. He spotted her bedside cabinet held perfumes and make up next to the side she normally slept on, the other side held his aftershave neatly arranged.

“What do you think?” she asked, eager for approval.

“It looks amazing, how did you think to move the bed…in fact how did you manage to move it by yourself” he said.

“I have hidden strength when I need it” she exclaimed and then burst out laughing “Your Dad helped me before they went out”

Coiling his arms around her she let him mould her to his body, her softness crushed against the angles of his hips as their lips met once more.

“You taste of coffee” she said

“You taste of mint” he replied “Have you just brushed your teeth” She nodded and smiled, the brilliant white of ivory flashed under the spotlights in his ceiling.

“Much as I’d like to try out those new cushions I think I’d rather wait until later and take you out for some lunch” he breathed.

“You’re on” she replied “But you’re on a promise about those cushions” she finished, grinning up at him. Hand in hand they left the house and wandered into town, it didn’t matter that it was raining and cold they were happy.

They soon spotted Pizza Express and decided that would be a good choice and headed inside. The scent of basil and parmesan cheese assaulted their senses as they were shown to a small table in the corner. As they waited for their starter’s to arrive Charlie had to ask.

“So what did she say?”

“Not much really, in fact Mum said she might give you a call and take you shopping while I’m away” Mitch said, watching the shock widen her pupils.

“Yeah, right, of course she wants to spend time with me” Charlie retorted “Did she think I might actually want to spend time with her after what she did”

“Perhaps she wants to make amends” Mitch said.

“Over my dead body she does

spat and noticed his face fall. She quickly reached for his hand and stroked her fingers over his knuckles.

“Sorry, I know she’s your Mum but I’m not sure I’m ever going to get on with her, let alone like her enough to go shopping” Charlie said, softly.

The waiter appeared with their dough balls and dips to start and for a few moments silence reigned. Each of them took sly looks at each other, drinking in the tiny details of their features, trying to implant them in their memories for the time they would be apart. The mood lifted when their pizza’s arrived and they sliced and shared pieces. As the restaurant was quiet Mitchell enjoyed feeding Charlie and she reciprocated, licking each other’s lips of the juicy tomato sauce that lingered there.

A shared ice cream only needed one spoon between them as they took it in turn and kissed in between mouthfuls. The staff tried not to notice the attractive couple in the corner, despite the fact that the waiter was adamant he had seen them in a music video.

“I think I’ll spend some of Mum’s money to pay for this” Mitch said, opening the envelope in his jacket pocket. He was staggered to find nearly five hundred pounds inside it. She had been feeling generous today.

“How much did she give you” Charlie asked, trying to peep into the envelope.

“Enough to buy the things I need and some spare for the trip” Mitch said “Possibly even enough to treat my girl to something new”

Wandering around the shops Mitchell picked up the last few things he needed and then as they passed a jewellery sho
