Caitlin jumped off Callum’s lap and
ran to Jenna. She wrapped her arms around her hips and hugged her.
“Night, fairy Jen.”
Jenna turned and walked quickly
through the door and disappeared down the corridor, desperate to hide her
tears. The little girl crawled into her heart in a matter of minutes.
“Was that really necessary,
Callum?” Megan snapped at him irritably.
He shrugged his shoulders.
“Only stated the facts.”
Liam looked between brother and
sister.
“Fill me in here, Callum. I
understand the little, but why call her a girl?”
“Because that is what she is.”
He looked at Callum, understanding in
his eyes. He chuckled.
“Calling her a little girl is not
going to turn her into one you know.”
“Don’t have to. It is what she
is.”
“I agree she looks very young, but
there is a maturity in her face and eyes. Strange that you missed it. I have a
sneaky suspicion she is slightly older than you wish to make yourself believe,
dear brother in law.”
Megan smiled and realized for the
first time what her husband recognized immediately. Referring to her as a
little girl, made it easier not to think of her as a woman. A very
desirable woman. She saw the look in his eyes when she kissed that man at
the museum. He was ready to commit murder, yet he would never admit to it.
“I also have a suspicion that your
dear sister knows how old she is.”
Megan looked up innocently.
“Well, someone that has the ability to
restore antique artwork must be highly skilled and qualified, not to mention
experienced. She has a Master degree in restoring historical art and
heads up the department at the Smithsonian. Therefore it is highly
unlikely that she can be what, twenty one?”
Callum’s look confirmed his thoughts
about her age.
“So do I have to drag it out of you,
dear wife?”
“Women do not divulge their friend’s
ages without their permission.”
“Megan.”
“Oh alright, honey! She will be
thirty in less than three months.”
Callum felt as if a bullet hit him
between his eyes. He wished she did not tell him. Now his lecherous
thoughts about her was allowed. Now she was going to cause him even more
damn sleepless nights!
Megan
watched the emotions flash over her brother’s face and she hid her smile behind
Caitlin. She saw the immediate attraction there was between Jenna and
Callum when they met. There was energy, an electric current between them
and the air always sizzled with it when they’re in the same room.
Something he did not have with Shirley and for that matter, never would.
Callum
walked out of his bathroom when his door opened and the two rascals stormed
in. Both hurled their little bodies at him from a distance and he caught
them in his arms, swirling them in a circle. They shrieked with laughter.
“Morning scamps. What are
you doing up so early?”
“We’re hungry! Mom said to call
you and Aunty Jen for breakfast.”
“Yes, but we don’t know where her room
is. Will you show us, Uncle Cal?”
“Ehm … she might still be
sleeping.” And naked at that.
“Don’t worry, I’ll wake her up
softly.”
He carried them to her door and lowered
them to the floor. Before he could knock, Caitlin pushed the door open
and with her finger on her lips, walked into the room. A quick glance to
the bed confirmed she was still sleeping. Her tee-shirt was once again
lying at the bottom of the bed which meant his suspicion that she was naked,
was correct. He groaned and reached for Caitlin to stop her from waking
Jenna.
She shrugged him off and climbed on
the bed. She sat on her knees next to her and slowly reached out to stroke her
hair. Jenna did not move. Caitlin frowned and stroked her
cheek. This time Jenna reached up to swipe a hand at her cheek. The
twins giggled. Jenna stirred and opened her eyes slowly. Callum
stood directly in her line of vision, she groaned and pulled the pillow over her
head.
Caitlin and Connor peeled with
laughter and she stiffened, suddenly remembering she was naked beneath the
sheet. She was lying on her stomach again, but the sheet only covered her
legs and her hips. Caitlin sat next to her on top of the sheet, so she
could not even pull it up.
“Morning Aunty Jen. Wake up,
we’re hungry.”
Jenna pulled the pillow from her head
and looked at her with a smile, her eyes still heavy lidded from sleep.
“Yes, Aunty Jen. Mom says
breakfast will be ready in ten minutes.”
“Morning little rascals. I guess
that means I must hurry then.”
“Yes … but aren’t you going to say
morning to Uncle Call, Aunty Jen?” Caitlin asked with a worried
look. Jenna glanced at him and he widened his eyes at her.
“Morning.” Her mumbled greeting
brought a grin to his lips.
“Not a morning person I see.”
“You must give her a kiss, Uncle
Call. Daddy always kisses Mommy in the morning when they wake up.”
“No, we’re not …”
“Let us not disappoint the little
rascals, Jenna.”
He walked closer and Caitlin scrambled
from the bed to stand expectantly next to her brother, watching him. He
leaned down and gave her a quick peck on her cheek.
Caitlin complained with a loud, “No,
that’s not right! You have to hold her in your arms and kiss her properly
on her lips.”
Jenna glared at him when he chuckled.
“Caitlin, your uncle and I …,” she
tried desperately to put an end to Caitlin’s expectations.
“Okay, squirt. Just to please
you.”
He sat down next to her, hiding her from
the twins and pulled her into his arms, pressing her naked breasts against his
chest. She gasped and tried to push him away.
“You have to put your arms around his
neck, Aunty Jen.”
“Yes, aunty Jen, listen to your fairy
child.”
He took her arm and looped it around
his neck, her hard aroused nipples stabbing against his chest. His shaft
jumped in response.
“I am going to murd …”
His lips closed over hers and his
tongue immediately took possession of her mouth. His hands stroked over
her back and she arched into him. The kiss was deep, sensual and for
moments both of them forgot about the twins standing behind them.
“Daddy never kisses Mommy that long in
the morning, Cat. Maybe we should tell him he is doing it wrong.”
Jenna was mortified when his words
registered and she tried to pull out of Callum’s arms. His hand that was hidden
from their view curved around her side to slowly circle her nipple and flick
over it before he ended the kiss leisurely. He looked into her hazy eyes
and said huskily.
“Morning Jenna.”
“Okay, Uncle Call! Can we please
go now! I am starving!”
Callum pulled the sheet up to Jenna’s
shoulders, his eyes smoldering. She glared at him, grabbing the sheet and
clutched it in front of her.
“Best hurry up, little painter girl,
otherwise I’ll have to come back and assist you.”
She growled at him. He chuckled
and got up from the bed. He grabbed the twins and put them on his
shoulders. Their shrieks echoed down the passage and Jenna fell back on
the bed. She pressed her breasts flat with her palms over them. The
nipple he touched tingling painfully, her lips pulsing from his sensual
kiss. She closed her eyes and groaned loudly.
She couldn’t allow this to
happen! She was so far out of his league it was not even a
consideration. He would only play with her and … she would be the one to
walk away with a broken heart!
She took a quick shower and
dressed in cargo styled beige pants with a cool purple top. Looking at
her reflection made her consider changing the top. It stretched tight
over her breasts and showed quite a bit of cleavage, but she shrugged.
It’ll have to do. She could not let the twins wait any longer. She looked
young and fresh with her hair taken back in a pony and barely there make-up.
Everyone was waiting for her on the
back porch. Connor immediately demanding now that the faerie arrived,
they should eat.
The atmosphere around the breakfast
table was relaxed, full of jokes and laughter, with the twins in the center of
it all. She was amazed at the change in Callum. Gone was the
grumpy, rude and annoying jerk. He was relaxed, smiled often - and what
it did to her heart when he flashed that smile - joked with his sister and
brother–in-law and played with the twins. He would be a wonderful father
one day.
Jenna disappeared quietly after
breakfast, not wanting to impose on their family time. She took her
sketchpad, the little bag with her drawing pencils and went outside. She
walked around the back of the castle and was delighted to find a wooden bench
with a side view of the castle and a beautiful view of the sea and the harbor
down the hill.
She drew her legs up beside her and
was soon entrenched in sketching the castle and the landscape on the side.
It was hours later when the twins
found her and came skipping closer. She startled and looked up when they
exclaimed excitedly, pointing at the sketch.
“Wow! Look at that Cat!”
“Wooow! It is beautiful!”
They looked back to the castle and
back at the sketch and exclaimed again with wonder. Jenna chuckled.
“So little rascals, what are you doing
wandering around alone?”
“We came to find you. Mom said
it is time for lunch and you must join us.”
“Oh, I want to finish this first,
darlings. Please tell your Mom, I’ll eat later.”
“Nooo … you have to come. We are
going home after lunch!”
Jenna looked at the pleading face of
the little girl hugging her arm, knowing she won’t be able to say no and
sighed. It seemed trying to avoid Callum was not going to happen.
She packed her pencils away and walked with them to the back of the house to
the porch where lunch was served. Connor insisted on carrying her
sketchpad.
“Can you draw dragons, Aunty Jen?” he
wanted to know with a glitter in his eyes.
“Yes, I suppose I would be able to
draw dragons.”
“Would you draw me a red one? I
like red dragons, with yellow eyes!”
“And a fairy for me! One that
looks like you with a purple dress!”
Jenna laughed as they climbed the
stairs to the porch. She caught Callum’s brooding look and smiled widely
at him. He just grunted and glared at her.
Goodness, I was not even around and
he’s mad at me!
“Uncle Call, see what Aunty Jen
did! Mom, Dad, come see!”
He opened the sketch pad and proudly
showed them her sketch. Callum looked at the sketch and it was clear that
she put a lot of effort into the sketch, even though it was not finished. He
looked at her and then back at the sketch. There was an old painting in
the reception area of the castle, but he would really like something like this
for his study.
“This is really beautiful,
Jenna. Do you only sketch or do you paint as well?” Megan asked
still looking at the sketch.
“I do paint, but I have not really had
a lot of time over the years.”
“I would love a painting of the
twins. If you have the time, even if it is after you are finished here,
would you consider painting them for me?”
Jenna felt Callum’s eyes on her, but
refused to glance at him.
“I never told you, sis, but this is
going to take longer than the first projection. Little painter girl over
there is going to be here for two years apparently.”
“You are really starting to annoy me,
McGregor! Call me a little girl one more time, I swear I will …”
His eyebrows rose and his eyes
glittered.
“Stop pestering Jenna, Callum.
We never even considered it would be such a long stretched out project.
Should we not rather break it up then, Callum? Only do certain ones now
and the rest a year or two later?”
“No, what is done is done.
Besides, Miss Burkes already got the go ahead from her Director. She has
been assigned to me for two years.”
“”Who is Miss Burkes?” Connor
asked with confusion. Liam explained and he frowned at his uncle.
“Why don’t you call her Jenna, Uncle
Call? Like you did this morning after you kissed her.”
There was dead silence and Jenna felt
her cheeks flush hotly. Megan looked between Callum and her. He ignored
her, but groaned when Caitlin offered a little more to that.
“Yes, and Dad, you should ask him how
to do it. He kissed Aunty Jen a lot longer than you do Mom when she wakes
up in the mornings!”
“Well, brother-in-law, this is
becoming exceedingly interesting. Care to enlighten me on what I am doing
wrong?”
