Makes 1 lethal serving
1 lime, quartered
1 teaspoon simple syrup, purchased or made by dissolving 1 part sugar in 1 part warm water and cooling
2 ounces cachaça or white rum
A Word of Wisdom
Not every drink is best served with muddled fruit and ice. If you prefer a clear, unadulterated cocktail, mix the whole drink in a Boston shaker, shake to combine, and strain the liquid out into your glass. Purists may argue that shaking “bruises” the spirit, but what’s a little bruising between poisoners?
The Strangler
In the halls of Dragonstone, elderly Maester Cressen finds his lord in dire circumstances and decides to take action. Desperate, he prepares to use the strangler, a rare amethyst-colored poison known well by the Citadel and favored in political assassinations. This cocktail is nowhere near as dangerous as Cressen’s brew, but it still has a good kick. (
A Clash of Kings
, Prologue)
Makes 1 drink
1 ounce blueberry schnapps
2 ounces cranberry juice
1
⁄
2
ounce lemon-lime soda
A Word of Wisdom
The color of your strangler may differ depending on the exact color of liquids you use.
Manticore Venom
Manticores are built for killing: the legendary beast has the body of a lion, the head of a human, teeth like a terrible shark, and a scorpion’s tail. Its venom is a delicate and potent poison. Oberyn Martell relies on its subtle yet ruthless effects. This regal but powerful cocktail recipe is merely inspired by the venom, and is nowhere near as deadly … nor does it need to be wrested from any beast, real or imagined. Like thickened manticore venom, the true nature of this drink may take time to reveal itself. (

, Chapter 70 — Tyrion)
Makes 1 drink
1 ounce chilled peach purée
Prosecco sparkling wine to fill
1 peach slice for garnish (optional)
A Word of Wisdom
The best purées for cocktails have a little sugar added. Blend 1 peach and 1 tablespoon sugar until fully puréed. Then press the purée through a fine sieve to remove any large solids. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for no more than a week.
House of Black and White’s Golden Coin
From the House of Black and White, there comes a small someone with an ugly little girl’s face, and she is not someone to bargain with. Her hands are illusive weapons. Even something as simple as a coin may cost her victims more than they’d imagine. Inspired by the deadly deception, this gold-filled shot could lay out a grown man if delivered correctly, so it’s not for the faint of heart nor health. (
A Dance with Dragons
, Chapter 64 — The Ugly Little Girl)
Makes 1 shot
Goldschläger
Chilled spiced rum
Into a shot glass, layer the ingredients in order with a spoon.
A Word of Wisdom
The differing densities of spirits keep them floating separately. Using a spoon to add them slowly may not improve the taste, but will keep the presentation flawless.
Crannogmen’s Poison
In the swamplands of the Neck, the crannogmen live entrenched in bogs and mashes filled with curiosities and dangers. They may be smaller than many other warriors in Westeros, but they are no less formidable or cunning, often tipping their arrows with poison to kill quickly from a distance. Murky and green as the land that hides Greywater Watch, this shot of liqueurs can sneak up on just about anyone. (
A Clash of Kings
, Chapter 21 — Bran)
Makes 1 drink
1 ounce green crème de menthe
1 ounce white crème de cacao
2 ounces cream
A Word of Wisdom
Neither crème de menthe nor crème de cacao have dairy products in them, unlike cream liqueurs that do include dairy cream and must be stored more carefully.
Pyromancers’ Wildfire
Tyrion Lannister understands the tactical advantages of firepower and knows just how nasty the pyromancers’ wildfire can be. Legendary for killing the Targaryen prince Aerion Brightflame when he drank it, wildfire burns hot and fast, consuming everything it touches. This flaming drink takes its name, color, and presentation from the infamous weapon of war, shining green and making any who are brave enough to try it feel sure they, too, could have a drop of dragon blood in their veins. (
A Clash of Kings
, Chapter 20 — Tyrion)
Makes 1 drink
1
⁄
2
ounce green crème de menthe
1
⁄
2
ounce gold tequila
1
⁄
8
ounce Grand Marnier
A Word of Wisdom
The Alchemists’ Guild takes extreme precautions when handling their wildfire, and you should take equal care when handling yours. Close all open bottles of alcohol before you ignite the shot. Don’t add alcohol if the shot is actively burning. Use sturdy glasses to prevent cracking and shattering — or you will have a very wild fire on your hands!
Blackwater Schwarzbier
Tyrion Lannister may have enjoyed this drink in Winterfell, but its name points southeast to King’s Landing, which resides beside Blackwater Bay. With a surprisingly light body and clean finish, this smooth beer complements the fine, comfortable climes of the eastern shore and is proof that dark doesn’t mean strong, bitter, or acrid. (

A Word of Wisdom
Munich malt has the flavor of a rich, dark bread. In comparison, its cousin Vienna malt tastes more like a toasted cracker. Use Vienna when you want a beer that’s snappy, but still malty. If you prefer your Blackwater Schwarzbier already bottled, look for brews like Samuel Adams Black Lager, 10 Barrel S1N1STOR, Buckbean Black Noddy Lager, or Sprecher Black Bavarian.
