Classic Wonton Soup

There are many classical Chinese dishes that you can make today, but none are as traditional as this dish. It is a very light, yet filling soup that your friends and family will want you to make over and over again.

Makes:
                       4 to 6 Servings

Total Prep Time:
      25 Minutes

INGREDIENTS:

 
  • 8 Cups of Chicken Broth

  • 3 Tbsp. of Soy Sauce

  • 2 tsp. of Sesame Oil

  • 2 tsp. of Rice Wine Vinegar

  • 2 tsp. of Lemon Juice, Fresh

  • 2 tsp. of Garlic, Minced

  • 1 ½ tsp. of Chile Garlic Sauce, Sriracha Preferable

  • Dash of Salt For Taste

  • 8 Cups of Water

  • 20 Wontons

DIRECTIONS:

 
  1. Combine all of your ingredients together in a large sized soup pan except for your wontons and your water over medium heat. Let your soup reach a boil before setting it down to a simmer. This should take about 10 minutes.

  2. While your broth is simmering, bring your water to a boil using a separate medium to large sized pot.

  3. Cook your wontons in your boiling water until there are thoroughly heated through. This should take about 5 minutes.

  4. Then remove the cooked wontons from water and add to your soup.

  5. Let your soup cook for an additional 5 minutes before removing from heat and serving immediately.

Tasty Dumplings with Tangy Peanut Sauce

This is yet another dumpling recipe that you as well as your friends and family will fall in love with. The dumplings are smothered in tangy peanut sauce which will satisfy even the pickiest of taste buds. Since this incorporates peanut sauce I caution that those suffering from peanut allergies stay as far away from this recipe as possible.

Makes:
                       40 Dumplings

Total Prep Time:
      1 Hour and 30 Minutes

INGREDIENTS:

 
  • 1 Pound of Pork, Ground

  • 2 Tbsp. of Soy Sauce

  • 1 tsp. of Salt

  • 1 Tbsp. of Rice Wine Vinegar

  • ¼ tsp. of White Pepper

  • 2 Tbsp. of Sesame Oil

  • 2 Tbsp. of Vegetable Oil

  • 3 Green Onions, Finely Sliced

  • 1½ Cups of Cabbage, Napa Style and Finely Shredded

  • 4 Tbsp. of Bamboo Shoots, Finely Shredded

  • 1 tsp. of Ginger, Grated

  • 2 Cloves of Garlic, Minced

  • 40 to 50 Dumpling Wrappers, Round

  • Some Egg wash For Sealing Your Dumplings (1 egg beaten with 1 to 2 Tbsp. of water)

DIRECTIONS:

 
  1. Warm up at least 2 Tbsp. of your vegetable oil in a medium to large sized wok over medium to high heat. Add in your garlic and ginger and sauté for at least 30 seconds.

  2. Then reduce your heat to about the medium setting and add in your green onions, Napa cabbage, and bamboo shoots. Sauté these veggies until they are nice and tender. Remove from heat and allow them to cool down for a few minutes.

  3. Next add your vegetable mixture to your raw ground pork. Mix well with your hands to combine the ingredients thoroughly.

  4. Then place about 1 heaping teaspoon to 1½ of a heaping teaspoon of your pork filling onto one half of the wrapper. Seal your dumpling by brushing the edge lightly with some egg wash and press lightly to seal it completely. Pleat the edges if you want to.

  5. When it comes to cooking your dumplings you have a variety of cooking options to choose from. You can easily cook your dumplings by either steaming or boiling them. I recommend steaming them as this will help to give your dumplings more added flavor.

  6. For Boiling: add your dumplings to your pot only when the water has started to boil. Let your dumplings boil for at least 12 minutes.

  7. For Steaming: Using a bamboo steamer, place your cabbage leaves at the bottom of your steamer. This will help to prevent the dumplings from sticking to the bottom of the steamer. Then add in your dumplings and arrange them so they are not touching. Allow them to steam for at least 15 minutes.

  8. Serve your dumplings while they are still warm and thoroughly enjoy.

Spicy Peanut Sauce

INGREDIENTS:

 
  • ½ Cup of Peanut Butter, Smooth and Organic

  • 1 Cup of Water

  • 1 Tbsp. of Soy Sauce

  • 1 Tbsp. of Hoisin Sauce

  • 1 tsp. of Chili Paste

  • Dash of Red Pepper Flakes

DIRECTIONS:

 
  1. Combine all of your ingredients together in a blender and blend until smooth in consistency. Feel free to add in some more water to achieve the right consistency.

Note: This sauce is extremely spicy so if you need to moderate the amount of hot pepper flakes that you use until you achieve the spiciness that you want.

Chinese New Year Tofu Ball Soup

There is no other holiday out there from a different country that is worth celebrating at least once then Chinese New Year. This is one of the best recipe to put together for that special occasion and it will help you bring in the New Year on a tasty note.

Makes:
                       4 to 6 Servings

Total Prep Time:
      30 Minutes

INGREDIENTS:

 
  • 1, 14 ounce Pack of Tofu, Soft

  • 7 Ounces of Pork, Ground

  • 6 Tbsp. of Cornstarch

  • 1 Egg, Large In Size

  • 1 tsp. of Chicken Bouillon, Granules and Optional

  • 1 tsp. of Salt

  • 5 Cups of Water

  • 1 Tbsp. of Vegetable Oil

  • 10 Pieces of Shrimp, Dried

  • 1 Cup of Pea Vine Shoots, Dried and Trimmed

  • 1 tsp. of Chicken Bouillon, Granules

  • ¼ of Salt

DIRECTIONS:

 
  1. Place your tofu into a large sized mixing bowl and mash it until it begins to form a paste. Feel free to use a large spoon or your hands to do this.

  2. Then stir in your next five ingredients together. Stir until the mixture is thoroughly combined.

  3. Next heat your water and vegetable oil together in a large sized saucepan until it reaches a boil. Then reduce the heat to a simmer.

  4. Using your hands pinch off at least 1 heaping tablespoon of your tofu mixture, roll it into a ball between lightly floured hands and place it carefully into the water. You want to do it slowly so it doesn't break apart once it touches the liquid. Repeat with the remaining mixture.

  5. Without stirring your soup, allow your tofu balls to simmer until they rise to the top of the soup. This will take about 30 minutes.

  6. Turn off the heat and stir in your remaining ingredients. Stir together until well mixed. Serve hot and enjoy.

Suan La Dofu Tang

Tofu is one of the most popular commodities in Chinese cuisine today. This is one of the many popular Chinese dishes that uses tofu, making it an excellent for vegetarian, vegan or paleo friendly dieters. This soup is relatively easy to make and will come out tasting amazing. This is certainly one dish that you are going to love, regardless if you are a fan of tofu or not.

Makes:
                       4 to 6 Servings

INGREDIENTS:

 
  • 4 Cups of Vegetable Broth, Homemade Preferable

  • 1, 12 Ounce, Pack of Silken Tofu, Finely Diced

  • 2 Green Onions, Finely Chopped

  • 1 Egg, Large In Size and Lightly Beaten

  • 1 Mushroom, Portobello Style, Halved and Sliced Thinly

  • 2 Cups of Cabbage, Chopped

  • 1 Tbsp. of Thai Style Chile Sauce

  • 1 Tbsp. of Vinegar, Rice Variety

  • 3 Tbsp. of Soy Sauce

  • 1 tsp. of Citric Acid Powder, Optional

DIRECTIONS:

 
  1. Measure your broth carefully into a medium to large sized saucepan. Bring this mixture to a hot simmer over low to medium heat.

  2. Add in your tofu and green onions next and then slowly drizzle in your beaten egg to make long strands of egg throughout the soup.

  3. Add in your mushrooms and cabbage and allow to simmer for at least 5 minutes.

  4. Remove from heat, and season with your remaining liquid ingredients. Stir to evenly combine everything. Enjoy!
