call back after she picked up Ally at Mrs. Simons and she would
go to the bathroom or bedroom while Ally was doing homework or
watching a show and they would talk for another hour or so. She
missed him but the calls helped and he was so attentive to her
that his calls would just light her up and make her day. Her mom
didn‟t suspect a thing and every now and then made a comment
about how it was better now without Jake. He was no good for
her. Kim usually just agreed thinking about if her mom would
only know and about how great Jake was to her. If she would see
that she would surely change her mind.
After about two and a half weeks her mom told her that her
grounding was over since she had clearly taken anything to heart
her she had said. Kim thanked her but didn‟t really mean it.
More and more she felt she had done nothing wrong and lifting
the grounding was just another one of her mom‟s righteous moves.
She had no clue about how things worked in the real world. Maybe
when she was younger but she was clearly out of touch with the
current days. Another day passed and it had almost been three
weeks now. Jake had said it wouldn‟t be much longer anymore and
he‟d be back soon.
She was on her way home from school again with the phone in
hand waiting for his call. It was a lot colder again. As soft as
March had been the beginning of April had brought back a lot
colder weather again but she wanted to speak to him and didn‟t
need to be in a bus full of nosy dumb teenagers when he called.
She startled as the phone buzzed and quickly answered it.
“Hello sweetheart” it sounded as usual.
“Hi” she responded with a smile.
“It‟s so great to see you again” he said.
“What?” she answered, “Where are you?” she asked puzzled.
“Look behind you” he said.
She quickly turned around and there she saw the silver
Porsche rolling quietly about twenty yards behind her. She
stopped and it pulled alongside and the passenger side window
rolled down. There he was with a big smile on his face. She
opened the door and got in. They kissed passionately. It was the
best kiss she had ever had. It felt so good to be with him
again. The kiss lasted for a long time until rudely disturbed by
honking behind them. There were three cars behind them eager to
get passed. Jake quickly move to the side and let them pass
waving to them sheepishly. After all three cars passed they both
burst out in laughter. They smiled and he put the car in drive
again and they drove off. He drove her home which was only a few
blocks. She told him she was no longer grounded and didn‟t have
to pick Ally up for another hour and a half.
“We could sneak in to your place and I‟ll sneak out when
you have to pick Ally up” he said, “that way we can maximize our
time together”.
“My mom won‟t be home until after nine anyway so why not?”
she agreed.
He parked the car around the block and they walked up to
the apartment door making sure nobody would see them. Kim opened
the door and made sure the hallway was clear. She waved him in
and they quickly slid into the apartment so nobody would see or
hear them. Inside they fell into a passionate embrace and kissed
for a while. Then he picked her up and carried her into her
bedroom. She blushed as he laid her on her bed. He took his
shirt off and she nervously started to undo her top. He lay down
on top of her and kissed her all over while slowly removing
articles of clothing. Before long they were both naked and not
long after he was inside her. She felt more comfortable this
time and was actually able to enjoy it. They made love and ended
up both reaching an orgasm at the same time. Then she just lay
there in his arms for a while. It was perfect. She had never
felt this good and this complete.
She finally looked at the clock and noticed it was already
time to pickup Ally. She jumped up and started getting dressed
and urged him along to get dressed to and get out of here. He
couldn‟t find a sock but she hurried him out without it. After
checking the hallway to make sure it was clear she gave him a
quick kiss and he was on his way. Then she went to Mrs. Simons
door and rang the doorbell.
Ally was waiting to be picked up. They both thanked Mrs.
Simons and went into their own apartment. Ally dropped her stuff
in the bedroom and came out holding a black men‟s sock.
“Where did this come from?” she asked.
“Must have gotten stuck to my backpack at gym today at
school” Kim responded as she quickly took the sock and shoved it
in her pack, “Someone lost one and we couldn‟t find it. I‟ll
return it to them tomorrow.”
Ally gave her a puzzled look but decided to let it go. The
week went on like this and Kim had never been happier. She used
to dislike that her mom worked so much and that she was away
from home all the time but now it was nice. The weekend was long
though and she met Jake at the mall on Sunday. He bought her
some earrings and another cute outfit. The space under her bed
where she was hiding everything from her mom was getting smaller
by the day it seemed as Jake‟s gifts piled up.
When they were heading back to her place they knew her mom
was home and they couldn‟t go in like during the week. He found
a spot behind a commercial building that was clearly deserted
and had sex in the car. She had gotten to like it so much she
couldn‟t get enough of it. Or was it just that she couldn‟t get
enough of Jake? As they pulled out from behind the building a
security guard just pulled around to check out what was going
on. He gave them a look over but kept going not seeing any wrong
doing. They laughed and he drove away.
“Where to now?” she asked.
He smiled at her but didn‟t say anything. They drove for
about five minutes and stopped in front of a tattoo parlor in a
lesser part of town. She gave him a puzzled look.
He looked at her and said “I never want to lose you and I
want you to never forget about me.”
Then he kissed her gently. She melted and he led her into
the parlor without any protest. He pulled out a slip of paper
from his coat pocket and on it was a pretty blue butterfly with
its wings spread.
He showed it to her and said “I saw this today and it
reminded me of your beauty.”
She smiled nervously and asked “Won‟t it hurt?”
“Nah” he said, “it‟s only a small one.”
She thought about how she would hide it from her mom and
thought about saying no for a second but didn‟t want to
disappoint him. She sat down as he gave the piece of paper to
the tattoo artist.
The artist looked at her and frowned, “Is she eighteen? If
not I need a parent‟s permission” he asked.
Jake took a one hundred dollar bill out of his pocket and
gave it to him “Here‟s her ID” he said.
The artist shrugged and went to work. It did hurt. It hurt
a lot but she bit through not wanting to show weakness to Jake.
When it was done she had a beautiful blue butterfly on her right
shoulder, no more than an inch or two in size. The artist
covered it with Vaseline and gave her instructions on how to
care for it and they left. She felt weird but thought it was
really cool at the same time. For some weird reason it seemed to
give her confidence and it was proof that her and Jake belonged
together. They drove off and headed for her apartment.
He stopped at the usual place around the corner and she
gave him a long kiss goodbye and slid out of the car. When she
entered the apartment she saw her mom at the kitchen table with
tears in her eyes.
“What‟s wrong?” She asked her mom.
“Aunt Clara died” her mom said sadly.
Aunt Clara had been her mom‟s only sibling. They had never
been close but had the same hard childhood. After their parents
had passed away they only spoke on the phone a few times a year
and maybe saw each other once every other year as Aunt Clara
lived in Saint Louis. Kim didn‟t even remember seeing her last.
She knew Aunt Clara had been sick with cancer but didn‟t know
how bad it had been. Her mom didn‟t speak much about her family.
“I have to go to the funeral” her mom said, “I am leaving
tomorrow afternoon and will be back on Wednesday.”
“You can come if you want” she said.
Kim shook “no thanks, unless you need me to” she said.
Her mom shook her head.
“I‟ve arranged for Ally to stay at Maddie‟s house from
school. She can take the bus with her and her parents were ok
with it” her mom said, “You are old enough to stay by yourself
if you want. You aren‟t seeing this Jake anymore, right?”
Kim shook again “No, haven‟t seen or talked to him since
that night” she lied.
“I guess you could see if you could stay at Annie‟s” her
mom offered.
“I‟d rather stay here” she told her mom not wanting to have
Annie cover for her again.
“Ok, I‟ll call to check on you” her mom said, “Make sure
you are home by eight every night.”
Kim nodded and gave her mom a hug and told her she‟d be in
her bedroom doing homework if she needed her. She went into her
bedroom and got out the phone and sent a text message to Jake
giving him the news. Ten seconds later she received the
response.
“Great, I‟ll come over and cook for you. Call me when she
is gone” it read.
She smiled, that would be great she thought. Then she would
be home when her mom called but they could spend the whole night
together.
Chapter 10:
The next day she rode the bus home for the first time in
weeks. She wanted to be home quickly to see if her mom was gone
yet so she could call Jake. She entered the apartment and to her
dismay her mom was still there.
“I was just about to leave” she said “I just wanted to say
goodbye. There is fifty dollars on the counter for anything you
might need and the fridge is full so you should be fine. Call me
at Aunt Clara‟s if you need anything, the number is on the
fridge.”
Kim nodded without saying anything and her mom hugged her.
“Don‟t do anything stupid while I‟m gone, ok?” her mom
said, “and no hooking up with anyone.”
She didn‟t mention Jake but Kim knew that was who she
meant.
“Ok” Kim said.
She had giving up counting the lies. Lying was getting
easier and easier and she was actually getting good at it. She
didn‟t like it but it had become a necessity. If only her mom
was more understanding. Then her mom left and Kim looked through
the window to make sure she was gone pretending to be looking
out to wave her out. Then she resisted the urge to call Jake for
a few minutes to make sure her mom wasn‟t coming back because
she forgot something. After a long 4 minutes she couldn‟t wait
anymore and she called him. He answered immediately.
“I need to stop at the grocery store for your dinner” he
said, “I‟ll be there in thirty minutes.”
“I can‟t wait” she responded.
After she hung up she rushed into the bathroom and took a
shower, then she applied some make-up and got the outfit they
bought the day before out from under the bed. It was a short
jeans skirt that he had insisted looking great on her and cute
yellow spaghetti strap top. Not really April attire for
Wisconsin but she wasn‟t planning to go outside anyway. Deciding
to surprise him and wore no underwear. Then she started picking
up the living room and her mom‟s bedroom. They might as well use
her mom‟s queen bed while they were there alone.
He got to the apartment at about four thirty. A long thirty
minutes after he had said he would be there but she forgave him.
He put the groceries in the kitchen and grabbed her in a strong
embrace. They kissed and before long she led him into the
bedroom and started taking his clothes off.
“What about dinner?” he protested.
“That can wait” she replied pushing him on her mom‟s bed
and pulling his pants off. Then she climbed on the bed and
straddled him bending forward and kissing him passionately. She
sat up and took the top off revealing her breasts which he
grabbed eagerly. Then she pulled her skirt up and looked at his
surprised look when he saw she wasn‟t wearing panties. She slid
over him and before long she collapsed on top of him completely
drained of any strength but very satisfied. They lay on the bed
for a long time when he finally urged her up and told her he was
going to make dinner for them.
It was six thirty now and it had already gotten dark. They
both got dressed and walked back to the kitchen. She helped him
unpack the groceries and he looked through them franticly.
“I forgot the artichokes” he cursed, “you don‟t happen to
have any, do you?”
“I can run to the store and get some” she offered, “It
should only take me fifteen minutes at the most.”
“Are you sure?” he asked.
She nodded and got some shoes on and put on a thick coat.
She grabbed the money from the counter and kissed him on the
cheek.
“I‟ll be right back” she promised.
“Be careful” he responded and she left the apartment.
The grocery store was about 5 blocks away. It was dark
already and the April air was cold on her bare legs with her
jeans skirt. When she got about halfway she saw a group of five
guys on the other side of the street. They started hollering at
her but she couldn‟t quite make out what they were saying. She
ignored them and continued on. The grocery store was slow with
few customers and a couple of kids filling the racks, a job she
had considered for a while and then decided against out of fear
that some of her friends from school would see her. She didn‟t
have to worry that much since most of the kids from the rich
part didn‟t venture in this side of town. They went to the more
upscale stores the other way and the not so rich kids had often
applied for the job themselves.
She picked out a couple of artichokes and paid at the
register. Then she headed back home. The boys that had been
hollering at her were gone and the streets were empty. She
passed one of the alleys about two blocks from her home and one
of the boys stepped out in front of her blocking her way.
“Where are those legs taking you?” he said in a slimy voice
pointing at her bare legs.
She startled but didn‟t say anything and dropped her head
as she shoved him out of the way.
“I‟d like to hit some of that” he stated as he slapped her
butt.
She flung around and slapped him across the face with a
