This fund was established to honor the memory of Dr.
Tommy Comeaux, a member of the band Beausoleil.

“They have recently completed fundraising to establish a
unique million-dollar Eminent Scholar Chair in Traditional Music at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The chair focuses attention on the preservation and
perpetuation of traditional music with special emphasis on the indigenous music
of the Acadiana region.

The fundraising continues to ensure the Traditional
Music Program at ULL.”

The Traditional Music Foundation, Inc. (TMF) was
established in 2007 to ensure that American traditional and bluegrass music
styles remain vibrant, community-based, living traditions. TMF provides
opportunities for the general public to explore and experience a range of
traditional American music, as well as contemporary styles with strong
traditional roots. Through events, individual music scholarships, and funding
for education and artistic development programs, TMF provides access to
resources, educational opportunities and musicians who will pass along these
musical styles. TMF hosts Bluegrass on the Farm, an annual event held at an
agricultural history park in Derwood, MD and other events in the Boston metropolitan area, (Appalachian Barn Dance 2010, Bluegrass and Traditional Kidsfest,
Mardi Gras Cajun Dance 2011.)

TMF awards college scholarships to music students
pursuing American traditional and bluegrass styles. Recipients to date have
attended the Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory.

mandolin program at Berklee College of Music and influenced an entire
generation of mandolinists .

Front Porch bluegrass jam and the old-time jam at the Skellig.

 

The Boston Bluegrass Union for sponsoring the annual Joe
Val Bluegrass Festival as well as concerts and the Boston Front Porch Jam.

 

Thank you to Denise Jarvinen and Pierre Cremieux for
hosting the Boston Front Porch Jam in their home.

 

Mike Holmes for organizing Mandolin Camp North where I
had the opportunity to take mandolin workshops with Sam Bush, Roland White,
Rich del Grosso, Joe Walsh, Ben Pearce, Jeff Foxall, and Alan Kaufman.

 

The Boston Bluegrass Union for sponsoring vocal
workshops with Claire Lynch, Laurie Lewis and Stephen Mougin and mandolin
workshops with Tom Rozum, Mike Compton, and others.

 

The Cantab Lounge for hosting the Tuesday night
bluegrass jam as well as featuring many bluegrass artists.

 

The Burren, the Skellig, and the Shaskeen for hosting
bluegrass and old-time jams.

 

The Stage Coach Inn which hosted the Groton Picking
Party. We were so sad when the Inn burned down recently.

 

Peter and Corbit Larson at Centre Music in Framingham for taking care of my instruments.
