Fresh Strawberries with Chocolate Dip
Strawberries and chocolate are old friends. If you are serving this dessert to company, use the big, beautiful strawberries with their stems. Bananas are also wonderful dipped into this chocolate sauce, as are dried apricots.
MAKES 4 SERVINGS
½ cup low-fat (2%) canned evaporated milk
5 ounces bittersweet chocolate (about 60% cacao content), finely chopped
24 strawberries, unhulled
Bring the evaporated milk to a simmer in a small saucepan over medium heat. Remove from the heat and add the chocolate. Let stand until the chocolate softens, about 3 minutes. Whisk until smooth.
Divide the chocolate mixture among four small ramekins. Serve the strawberries with the chocolate mixture for dipping.
