I pumped into her harder until my body shuddered against hers as I spent myself inside her. We clung to each other on that sacred altar, writhing in mutual bliss.

That had been fucking amazing.

I cupped her face in both my hands to kiss her lips. “You okay?” I whispered, my lips tickling the skin near her ear. “I think you helped me after all.”

“I’m glad. What the hell was that, Sebastiano?”

“What? What do you mean?” I questioned her. Shit, maybe I had gone too far and scared her this time with my beads and the wax. “Did I scare you, baby? Did I hurt you?” I asked, smoothing my hands up and down her body.

“No, not at all, but it felt different this time. I can’t quite explain it. Maybe it was how hard you were fucking me or the way you were looking at me, like you were excited and happy?”

“Baby, I was more than excited. It was fucking unbelievable.” I stared down into her eyes. “You don’t hate me then?”

“How could I hate you after that? I’ve never experienced anything like it in my life. It was wonderful.”

“Even though I fucked you like the monster I am, here in God’s house?”

“I like your monster side. I’m perfectly fine with it, and you can always go to confession for your sins, right?”

I smiled. “Yeah, it’s a good thing God is so forgiving. I’m glad you haven’t called me a sick bastard yet and tried to escape from me by running the other way.”

“I’m not running. I never will.”

I kissed her and pulled out. “Let’s go home, baby. You must be hungry.”

She grinned. “Yep, I’m starving. Let’s go.”

I glanced around the church as she put her clothes back on, minus the fishnets, of course. There was wax all over the altar and the carpet. I’d have to organise someone to come in here and clean up the mess.

But it was worth it and oh, what a mess it was.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

SEBASTIANO

I walked into the club and headed for the table directly in front of the stage. There was already a glass of scotch sitting there waiting for me. Ronnie, my manager, sat in the seat next to it.

“Morning, Ronnie. I see it’s audition time again. How many have we got today?”

“Hey, Don.” She flicked through the papers in front of her and reordered them. She placed a handful in one pile and a single sheet started a separate pile. “These five girls are all newbies,” she said with her hand on the handful of papers. “This one worked for Antonio until one of his guys got rough. She’s come to you looking for protection,” she said, pushing the single sheet across to me.

I really didn’t need anything else to cause trouble between Antonio and myself. I glanced at the photo stapled to the top of the application form and was faced with a young woman. She didn’t look any older than twenty, with long, blonde hair and blue eyes in her round face.
She looks so innocent. How the hell did a sweet-looking thing like this get involved with Antonio’s club?

“How long has she been working for Antonio?” I asked, hoping it wasn’t long enough for him to have become attached to her. He’d kick up a fucking stink if he was attached.

“Three months. He wasn’t happy about her leaving. He’ll be knocking on the door when he hears she’s here. That is if he doesn’t already know. She told us his parting words were ‘
Good luck finding protection from me.’
He knows you’re the only person in this city people will go to when they need protection.”

Ronnie pulled the forms back together in a pile and shuffled them until a pretty brunette was on top. She glanced at me. “Are we ready for Serenity?”

I nodded as I took a large swig of my scotch before settling back in my seat and focusing on the stage before me.

A scantily clad woman, who looked to be in her late twenties, strutted out onto the stage. A seductive tune played over the speakers and she started to move. She was good. She worked the stage well and used the pole. If she hadn’t done this before, she must have been practicing at home.

I leaned across to speak in Ronnie’s ear as she took a sip of her water. “Her file says she has a boyfriend. Does he know she’s doing this?”

I watched the grin cross her face before she replied. “He brought her in. He’s sitting at the bar.”

I waved her over and gestured for her to perform a lap dance for me. We usually did this to test whether they could handle dancing up close and personal, but this test was more for the boyfriend, to see if he could handle watching his girl close and personal with other men.
I acted like the punters would, no touching, and she did everything a punter would want. She would get some good tips. Her boyfriend stayed quiet, therefore passing my test. I stopped her gyrating hips by placing my hands on them. “That’ll do, darlin’. I’ve seen enough,” I said with a reassuring smile.

She stepped away and glanced across at Ronnie.

“You did well, Serenity. I’ll call you later with our decision. Could you let Brandy know we’re ready for her now?” Ronnie was all business as usual. I would have hired Serenity on the spot. Then again, I’d end up with dancers coming out of my fucking ears because I’d hire them all.

All the girls were pretty good considering none of them had worked in the clubs before. The last girl we saw was Angel, the one running from Antonio. She came out with wings made of white feathers to go with her name, and blonde hair, blue eyes and pretty features. She really did look like an angel. She reminded me a bit of Lorena.

The doors opened half an hour ago. The club had about a dozen punters sitting around, enjoying the performances the last few girls had given them. The guys who came in were regulars so they enjoyed the new faces and bodies the auditions offered.

Angel was very good; you could tell she had done this before. As she released the clasp on the front of her bra, her wings fell to the floor like an angel falling from grace. The guys loved it. Hell, I fucking loved it. That was it. I was giving her the job without even seeing the lap dance.

Ronnie waved Angel off the stage. I watched as she bent down and picked up her wings, still making a show of her movements, highly aware of all the eyes still on her. Antonio’s clubs were more like brothels, but this girl was a performer through and through.

She was just making her way off the stage as one of the regular dancers walked on to take her place, when her smile fell from her face. She paused mid-step and looked at someone, or something, in the direction of the bar. The fear was clearly written on her face.
I turned in my seat to find Antonio standing at the bar with his arms folded across his chest, smirking sadistically in Angel’s direction. He was clearly getting off on her fear. I stood and made my way over to her. I blocked her view of him with my body and placed my hands on her upper arms to comfort her.

“Angel, you are under my protection now. He won’t lay a fucking finger on you. Okay?” I assured her.

She nodded her pretty little head and looked at me gratefully.

Glancing around the room, I caught Stefano’s eye, who was manning the entry to the dressing rooms. He made his way toward me and guided Angel back to the dressing room without a word.

There was a ruckus at the entrance and I turned, ready to head that way when I heard Sierra mouthing off at Dante who was working the doors.
What the fuck? Why the hell is she here?

“Dante, you better let me the fuck in right now!” Sierra was screaming. I could hear her from across the bar and that was over the music and chatter of the punters.

I stormed to the entrance and caught Sierra by her shoulders before she could barge into my chest. “What the fuck are you doing here?” I snarled.

I was furious but I couldn’t control my rage. Coming here was such a dangerous move, especially with Antonio here. I knew she must have come alone because none of the guys would bring her, especially without fucking calling me first.
How the fuck did she sneak out without them fucking seeing her? And where the hell is Paulie?
He was meant to be with his sister!

“I…I was—” Sierra stuttered, noticing my fury.
I didn’t give her a chance to answer me. I dragged her by her upper arm across the room and to the ‘Staff Only’ door leading to the dressing rooms and my office.

“Sebastiano, you’re hurting me,” Sierra complained as my office door closed behind us. She rubbed her arm as I quickly released my hold on it.

“What the fuck are you doing here? What the hell were you thinking, coming here to the club? And fucking alone at that! Do you know how fucking dangerous that was?” No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t control my temper.

“I…I was bored.”

“Bored? You risked your fucking life because you were fucking
bored
?” I yelled at her, completely stunned by her answer.

I could tell she was terrified. She was trembling, but it didn’t turn me on like it usually did. I was too furious with her. “You left without any of my men. I have enemies everywhere, Sierra. They have now seen you with me. Any one of them could have snatched you off the street to get to me.”

“I’m sorry. I—”

“Fuck me! You just don’t get it, do you? Even Lorena knows better than to go anywhere alone.”

Just the thought of Lorena or Sierra being taken from me was terrifying. Mixing that fear with my anger was causing me to lose all control. Shit, I didn’t think I had any control left in me at that point. I needed to vent and get some of the anger out. I did the only thing I could think of. I smashed my fist into the wall next to me.

***

SIERRA

The sound of Sebastiano’s fist making contact with the wall made me flinch. I’d never seen him that furious. He wasn’t even this mad in the church when Uncle Joey had brought up his past the other day. I’d really pissed him off this time. I was only trying to get a little bit of freedom. I was used to working a full-time job; instead, my day involved a whole heap of nothing; unless you counted spa days and shopping sprees as a job. I knew Lorena did. Her job was to shop. As the daughter of The Don, she was not required to work. She attended a lot of charity functions and fundraisers around Sydney, but I wouldn’t classify them as a job.

Lorena had always had money. I hadn’t, so it was not easy for me to go spending money freely. I had never had money accessible to me, money I could spend on myself. Sebastiano gave Lorena and me an allowance, but there was no way I would spend it all; it was impossible. Even though I had access to all the money I could wish for, it didn’t mean I suddenly enjoyed spending it.

I slowly and carefully walked up to Sebastiano. I needed to calm down the monster.

I placed my hand on his lower back as he faced the wall. He jumped at my touch, obviously too deep in thought to have heard me approach.

“I’m sorry. It was stupid of me to go out alone, but I needed something to do with my time. I am bored at home all the time, and the trips out with Lorena are great, but I can’t do that every day. It’s just not my thing.”

“Women would love to have your life, Sierra.”

“I’m not complaining. I’m just not like most women. I’m used to working.” I glanced around at my surroundings. I noticed the desk was scattered with papers and folders were piled sky-high. I knew exactly what I needed.

“I told you, your only job is to keep me happy. That was the deal, remember?” he reminded me. He was back onto what I owed him for Paulie’s life. I’d thought we had moved on from there.

“Let me work here. You need someone to sort all that paperwork out. You always have men here, so it’s safe. I can even travel with them.” I waited with baited breath for his reply.

“That’s Ronnie’s job; she’s the manager,” he argued as he turned to face me. That wasn’t a full-out no.
I placed my hands on his well-defined chest and gave him my best puppy-dog eyes. “Look at the mess in here. She obviously needs the help. Please, Sebastiano, I’m going crazy stuck at home.” I wasn’t afraid to beg and I knew he loved it.

He sighed. “You know that look makes me cave. Fine, you can work here three days a week on the condition you never go anywhere without one of my men again. It’s too dangerous for you.”

I threw my arms around his neck and showed him exactly how much I appreciated his offer. I kissed him with everything I had. He soon took charge, spinning me around and pressing me against the battered wall with his hard body. He gripped my arse with his hands, efficiently sliding me up the wall until my legs were wrapped securely around his waist.
The door banged open.

“Boss? Shit…I didn’t realise you had Sierra in here. Sorry. I’ll come back.” Stefano’s voice made me pull my mouth away from Sebastiano’s.

“No, it’s okay. I have a job to do.” I loosened my legs from around his waist and he gently slid me down his body to the floor.

Sebastiano spoke as he watched me make my way to the desk, his eyes glued to my legs as I rearranged my skirt. “What’s the fucking problem, Stefano?”

“Angel wants to leave, but she’s scared Antonio will try something. He seems like he has settled in with a drink, enjoying the dancers, but she’s terrified of him. Someone has done a number on her.”

“Why the fuck is Antonio still here? He is not welcome in my clubs. I thought you dickheads would have gotten rid of him by now.”

I did not want to witness another argument, so I decided to seek out Ronnie and see what help she needed with all the paperwork. I had no idea what anything was or where I needed to start. I caught Sebastiano’s eye. “I’m just going to find Ronnie.” I dashed from the room before he had time to complain that I didn’t have one of his men attached to my hip. The club was crawling with his men. Nothing would happen to me there.

My assumption was confirmed when I found one of the men I had seen before but never been introduced to standing in the hallway. He looked surprised to see me—obviously, he wasn’t around when I stormed into the building—but he didn’t stop me entering the main room of the club.

After asking for Ronnie, it didn’t take me long to find her. She was the only woman who was fully clothed. She was pretty in a rough, ‘I take no shit’ kind of way. She was standing behind the bar glaring at one of the customers who was trying hard to get his hands on one of the girls.
I guess touching isn’t allowed
. As I made my way toward her, I watched her catch Dante’s eye, and she nodded in the direction of the touchy customer. Dante followed her nod with his eyes and quickly took charge of the situation, grabbing the guy by the scruff of his shirt and dragging him out the front entrance.
