sin(Skt., ‘she who lives on the Vindhya mountains’). Name of a goddess in a well-known Hindu temple. The shrine stands near Mirzapur, E. Uttar Pradesh, and has been famous since at least the 7th cent. CE, even with N. Indian court poets.
