Chapter 20

A quaint brick, ranch style home, sat on an acre at 7504 Devonshire Lane.  Surrounded by trees, its well-manicured lawn looked like an emerald laying in front of the house.  The newly-married Andersons had moved in the month before.

Stacy, her new husband Jack and her son sat balled up in the corner of the living room.  She didn’t know what it was but “Banshee” came to mind.  It was all white with a large skeletal head and it flying, racing in circles through the living room. It was not happy, not happy at all.  The thing was enraged.   It appeared to have long flowing hair but the face was anything but beautiful.  Empty eye sockets and teeth bared, it stopped in front of them.   It unhinged its jaw and let out a scream.  The family covered their ears and closed their eyes.  Stacy could swear she felt her hair actually blow back.  Jack had no idea what was happening.  He did his best to move in front of his family in an attempt to protect them.  Just as quickly as it started, it ended.

The room went quiet.  It was so quiet.  The three huddled and hugged each other.

“What the hell was that?” Jack yelled. “We all saw it right?”

Stacy and her son Brian couldn’t speak but nodded their heads tears running down their faces.

“Come on, get in the car we’re leaving,” Jack grabbed the keys and pushed his family out through the front door.  They loaded up into their trusty van and sped to Stacy’s mother’s house a few miles away.
