“What?” she asked sympathetically. “Was there another fire?”

“No,” he said mournfully.

She laid the palm of her hand gently on the side of his perfect face. She could get addicted to looking at him. He was so handsome. But she recognized the look. It was not because he had had a hard shift at work. He felt guilty about something. Savannah stepped back.

“Shit. I’m sorry I was late,” he began.

But he didn’t have to say anymore. Susan. Somehow Susan called him and he got delayed. Savannah made an agreement with herself to sort out her feelings first before she went off half-cocked on him.

“There’s dinner in the fridge,” she said neutrally. “The guys went all out.”

“Did they?” he asked, his tone became flirtatious.

But Savannah didn’t want to flirt back believing that he had just come from his ex-wife’s. If he wanted something with her, he was going to have to cut the cord from Susan. She nudged him away.

“I’m so tired,” she said.

He studied her.

“Are you?” he asked rhetorically. “Hey, Trenton you staying?”

“Thought I might,” Trenton replied with his eyes closed.

Just as she thought that Trenton was about to sleep, Savannah could hear the two men talking. She could hear Trenton proceed to fill Foley in on the excitement. She hadn’t wanted to just blurt out the fact that bikers terrorized them basically. She was going to tell him in the morning after he had some rest. Getting him upset before bed might mean a restless night. She thought that with all the hours he had been putting in at the firehouse on top of going on long motorcycle rides with her, Foley really needed deep, uninterrupted sleep.

“What the fuck?  I’m about to go hunt somebody down,” Foley threatened. “If they ever fucking step foot on this property again, I’m going to fucking kill them all!”

“Tomorrow,” murmured Trenton, drifting off to sleep.

“Right,” he said. “The sit-down.”

Chapter 15

Foley followed Savannah back to her room, but she pressed her hand on his rock hard chest to keep him from coming in the door.

“I am really tired,” she said.

“Hell, I get that,” he said with a twinkle in his eye. “Why do I sense that that is code for you that you’re fucking pissed off at me for some reason?”

Foley cocked his eyebrow. He didn’t wait for an answer. He hoisted her up into the room and closed the door behind them.

“I’ll respect your space if you want it, Savannah,” he said firmly. “But I think we have had this conversation before. If you have something to say, say it. If you’re going to hold me accountable for something you better let me know what it is.”

There was a hint of amusement in his face, but she had no doubt he was not playing. He was definitely calling her on the carpet.

“Where were you tonight?” she asked finally.

“I was at work,” he said. “And then on the way home, I got a call.”

“Let me guess, Susan,” she said acidly. “Does she know you two are divorced? And don’t give me that crap about her being a transplant from another town. She’s a good looking, smart woman. She could find new friends,
easily
.”

Foley closed the distance between their faces.

“Oh, really?” he asked. “Think she’s good looking?”

Savannah shrugged. “She’s gorgeous.”

“Shit, baby. So are you,” he said. “You have no reason to be jealous.”

“I need to be with a man who doesn’t have a needy ex-wife,” she said.

Foley got very quiet. So quiet it made Savannah nervous. She didn’t know how this man was going to react and that made her feel vulnerable. She had felt more comfortable when she kept her feelings to herself. It was that moment she was afraid she had done something that might make him go away when she really knew how much she wanted him to stay. Finally, he reacted. He took her into his arms in a hug so complete she thought she would get lost in him.

“I know exactly how you feel,” he whispered. “Thank you for telling me. I’m not going to let my past get in the way of my future. I’m crazy about you, Savannah. I think about you day and night. And I don’t want to lose you. I’m not sure where it’s heading, but I want to find out. You’re something truly special in my life.”

“That means so much to hear that.”

He smiled as he pushed a strand of hair behind her ear.

“I know you’re tired.

“I am beat.”

When he held her in his arms, she imagined the intense physical nature of his job. The constant high alert. She worked at home. She interfaced with her client via video-chat. They told her what they wanted in the article she had to write. She had no stress usually. All over again she felt enormously selfish. It was high-time she took care of him.

Savannah stepped up onto the ottoman that butted up against the overstuffed chair in Savannah’s bedroom. She was now as tall as he was. She pushed his leather vest off of his shoulders and down his massive biceps. She realized that half down his arms it might have been smarter to do one arm at a time.

She lost her balance into him as she tried to figure it out. He caught her mouth with his. He was such a loving, gentle, handsome giant. His chest was so broad and hard. Her soft plush chest pushed up against his iron form. Finally, he wrapped his tangled arms around the small of her waist and whisked her to the bed.

“I was going to draw you a bath,” she murmured against his lips.

“Another time,” he replied.

It was very clear to her via the intense hard prodding at her thigh that Foley was not interested in bathing at the moment. Her belly swirled with warmth. He laid her down, the cushiony mattress and bedclothes rising up around her in complete comfort. Savannah felt so decadent. A wicked smile painted her lips.

“What are you thinking about?”

“Lots.”

He shot her a devilish look. “Me too. I’m having this fantasy. We kiss and fuck, and sweat and touch until we both come.”

Savannah stuck her curling tongue out for him to take. He moaned. She traced his lips with the wet, firm tongue tip, pulling away when he tried to capture it. He played for a little bit before he cupped the back of her head, holding her still so that he could take control of the kiss. He swept her mouth with the most tantalizing movement. Owning her. She loved being controlled by him, just a little bit.

He was so masculine. So knowing. Foley was an incredible lover, and Savannah was impatient to experience everything he had to share. She lifted her shirt up and bared her breasts. He took hold of her round flesh within the sizzling heat of his fingers and suckled her nipples.

That moved made her squeal. The arousal pulled from deep within. It tugged on her. She squirmed with emptiness. She swiveled around and outstretched her legs around his waist. She pressed her center to him. She flowed for wetness. Foley lifted her, so she practically sat on his lap. His hardness made it almost uncomfortable for her to sit.

She reached between them and adjusted him until he was inside of her.

So fucking incredible.

Sit on his lap this way, with her legs out behind him and his thighs underneath her buttocks, she took him deeply and moved around. She jutted her hips in short little jerky moves that were like electric pulses to him. He shook with pleasure after each playful thrust. She swiveled herself around. The motion she meant to drive him wild was setting her on fire.

Her body was now so sensitive that she froze in between movements. Their effect was stunning. She had to will herself to maintain a steady rhythm. She closed her eyes and cocked her hips in unending pumping until she pushed herself up and over that blissful edge.

“Work it, baby,” he murmured darkly.

Foley joined into the movement. He levered himself, pushing off the bed and into her. He was so powerful that he could balance his massive broad body and move into her easily. Little tiny seizures rippled, tumbling through her core from deep, deep within her. It was the most delicious sensation; the culmination of perfection knowing that he was so attracted to her. So hot for her. And that he cared for her. Their union was more than blistering chemistry. It was about total trust. Savannah knew that despite her jealousy of Susan, she trusted her hot, sexy biker.

Chapter 16

Except for the company of her dog, Savannah awoke to an empty house. It felt almost normal. Until it sunk in how vulnerable she was to have slept so late with no one else there. She trusted she was under the watchful eye of the Ghosts of the Prairie. She peered out the window to check the weather. It was chilly to be sure. She bundled up both the dog and her and went out for a jog.

The cold air was a little tough to get used to though she was no stranger to running in cold weather. The further they progressed on their course, the warmer she and Beau were. It was almost pleasant. Savannah realized there was no drama going on. The moment, in fact, was a wholesome one.

But it didn’t last long. Her stomach knotted at the sound of a motorcycle winding through her development. She had come to love riding but with the derelict bikers tearing up her property, trying to terrorize her guests and her, she wasn’t so fond of the sound. It made her nervous.

But this biker she was okay with. He looked at her directly as he slowed to her pace. The visor isolated his magnificent eyes. They cut right through her and even in the cold North Dakota fall, Savannah was contemplating getting naked with this biker right out in the open.

“What’s the matter? No one playing with matches today?” she teased.

“Shit, girl. I take that talk very seriously,” he played back.

“I got something hot you can play with,” she said boldly.

“Savannah Payton,” he scolded her.

Beau was so excited to see him.

“I wanted to see if you wanted to ride with me to Outlaws later,” he said.

“Oh, am I invited?” she asked.

He winked. “You’re the main event. Danny and I want to find out if maybe the Riggers had something against your father for any reason. Are you sure you never broke anyone’s heart?” he asked.

“Foley Graham, I would know if I ever dated a biker before,” she said.

He raised his brow. “I’m glad I’m your first.”

“I would love to ride with you,” she said.

“Good, because there is a cold snap coming in, and I’m not so sure we’ll be able to get another ride in soon. Not exactly a ride, but I do love the way you feel on the back of my bike,” he said.

He leaned in and kissed her.

“I’ll pick up you up in a couple of hours. And if this club doesn’t piss me off too much, I will buy you an early dinner. We can come back here and work it off,” he said, letting his lips linger over hers.

He revved his bike and only got so far when she called for him sharply. He head hear and U-turned around.

“Yes,” he asked lightly.

“Where are you going, babe?” she asked.

She kicked herself for sounding like a nag already. He had every right to go anywhere he wanted to. Though circumstances through them together and made them very close in many ways, they had really only just met. They had no real commitment.

“I’m going to see Susan,” he said.

Savannah tried not to make a face, but it was impossible.

“It’s a good thing,” he said. “I’ll tell you all about it in bed.”

Beau and Savannah watched as their wonderful biker drove off in the direction of his ex-wife. Savannah determined this moment called for a sexy outfit brainstorm. She was going to go home, hit her home gym for the next hour, and get dressed with such hotness that Foley would not notice his phone ringing the next time Susan called. If she was going to be involved with the sit-down between bike clubs, she wanted to make a good impression. It was in a way like meeting Foley’s family.

The dog didn’t like the noise of the treadmill, so when Savannah hopped on, he made himself scarce. She ran super hard, playing hardcore heavy metal through headphones so that she could feel like the hottest woman on earth for Foley. Working out was Savannah’s favorite beauty regimen.

Even after she finished with the noisy gym machinery, Beau remained hidden. Savannah did the circuit weights before hitting the bath. She kept her door opened so that her dog could curl up on the bath mat like he usually did, then finished dressing for the Outlaws.

Savannah wore a pair of skin-tight jeans and a cashmere sweater. She left the shirt unbuttoned so that just the slightest bit of cleavage showed. She could feel the touch of his fingertips there now. She put on a pair of stacks she knew she would not be able to ride in, but she knew they would turn him on. She had posted them on social media once and had to knock the attention she got off with a virtual stick. While she waited for him, she powdered and re-powdered parts of herself with the softest scented powder puff.

The vet bill fell on the floor, and Savannah picked it up. She rolled her eyes. What a ridiculous bill. She started thinking about everything and how Foley walked home Susan the night of the fire. Then a thought suddenly struck her. Somebody had torched her guesthouse, and then poured gasoline around her house. They didn’t get to finish the job. But something was odd. Beau should’ve been locked up in the house. But he was found a few houses down at the neighbors.
