Chapter 1: Bad Boy Danny

As his boot hits the dirt, he takes in a deep breath. This is his first breath as a free man in a year. As he walks away from the Texas state penitentiary, he feels an incredible rush of possibilities before him. A hot rod pulls up and it’s his best friend Steve. Dan sacrificed a year of his life to keep Steve out of jail because Steve had a baby on the way. They had started a business together and Steve tried to cut corners to save money. Dan knew the baby needed a father and he took the hit and did the time for his buddy. Dan and Steve are both good looking dudes. They have always lived in Texas and will die in Texas. They have a good group of friends who are into the biker scene and attend all the big rallies. Dan has a good reputation and everyone was shocked when he ended up in jail.

Dan opens the door and gets into the hot rod with Steve. Steve gives him a hug and says, “good to see you brother.” Dan says, “burgers?” Steve nods and his tattooed fingers grip the steering wheel as they peel out of the gravel parking lot. Steve smiles and says, “the crew wants to throw a welcome back party for you tonight at Madre’s.” Dan nods as he looks out the window, he’s seen the same thing for a year and the change of scenery is so refreshing. “Yeah that’s what I’m talking about boy!” He claps his hands together. His arms are both covered in tattoos. On one arm it says, “bad boys for life.” He has a skull on the other arm with roses and the bones in his hands are outlined on both hands. His dark brown hair is perfectly slicked back and his leather jacket completes his look. He doesn’t look like someone you want to mess with and he plays the role well. He sticks up for his friends no matter what.

The hot rod pulls into the local diner slowly so they don’t scratch the bottom of the car on the dip coming into the parking lot. The car is loud on purpose and everyone in the diner looks as they get out. They have a strong presence and are known around town as the biker boys. They are always dressed in black and hang out in large groups and always at the same places. They are big on just a few things, family, loyalty, friendship, bikes and old cars. They are happy and known to be very protective over their friends sisters and girlfriends. None of them are violent people, unless someone messes with the wrong person.

Dan has always been the leader of the group because of his charisma and large persona. He walks into the diner and everyone looks at him. “How yall doin?” He says in a friendly tone. It’s Sunday and most people are wearing their church clothes. His torn jeans and black leather jacket stand out to say the least. They grab a booth and sit down excited to catch up. Dan says, “so hows your daughter?” Steve smiles and says, “she’s good man, really good. Her mother and I are so grateful for you. We wanted to make you the godfather.” Just then a drunk man starts to make a ruckus at the diner’s bar. He’s giving one of the waitresses a hard time and calling her names. Dan stands up and says, “just a second.”

Dan walks up to the drunk man and towers over him looking down at the top of his head, “is there a problem?” He says in a deep voice pushing his chest out to show he’s not joking. Steve is used to Dan protecting people in the community from vagabonds and tweakers. The man looks up angry and confused at Dan. He mumbles and takes his change and walks out. Dan turns to the waitress who looks shaken up. “You ok baby?” He asks. She says, “thank you.” Her blonde hair is pulled back into two neat braids and curled at the ends. She wears white pearl earrings and a pink cardigan sweater. Her name tag reads ‘Stacey.’ Danny looks at her name tag, ‘Listen Stacey, if anybody ever bothers you in this town. I’ll look out for you, I’m Danny.” He puts his hand out to shake her hand.

She reaches her soft hand out and his massive hand gently shakes hers. She nods her head still somewhat shocked by the drunken man’s outburst. She says in a cute southern accent, “I don’t know what that man’s problem was but I’m glad he’s gone.” Danny nods and goes and sits back down. Stacey walks up and says, “sorry about all that. What can I get yall?” Danny looks at her and says, “my friends are throwing me a party tonight. Can you come?” Caught off guard by his directness, she says, “um well I don’t think I have any plans. Is it your birthday?”

He says, “no I just got out of jail.” He says this without any expression. She says, “oh.” And not sure what to says she says, “well what can I bring you fellas? Our pumpkin pie is real good.” Steve says, “I’ll have the BLT please.” Dan says, “I just want you to say you’ll come.” Stacey smiles, “sure I’ll come,” she says and shrugs her shoulders. Dan smiles and claps his hands together, “great! Then I’ll have a burger and fries please. But no blue cheese, it get’s my stomach.” “Right away boys,” she says sweetly. Her double braids give her an innocent look and the slight gap between her teeth Danny finds adorable.

He leans forward and whispers to Steve, “for the last month, there’s only one thing I could think of.” Steve smiles, knowing Dan. Dan says, “I just want two grab em ya know?” He puts his hands out like he’s grabbing a girls breasts. Steve leans back laughing. Well Mandy is coming tonight. She’s been waiting for you to get out. “Hmmm,” Dan says, “she’s got a lot of issues AND a crazy ex-boyfriend.”

Steve laughs and says, “what about this one?” He nods his head towards Stacey. Dan says, “bet ya $100 bucks I can get her to come tonight.” Steve says, “what kind?” They both laugh. Steve says, “I’m so happy to see you man. Things haven’t been the same without you. Nobody loves fixin’ up bikes the way you do.”

Just then an old black chevy pulls up with big rims and loud bass. These boys know engines so well they know exactly who it is. They both stand up immediately, their protective instincts kicking in. They walk directly to the front door and cross their arms. They are both big, over six feet tall and jacked. They show no sign of sweetness in their face. They mean business. As the man driving gets out of the car, a woman get’s out of the passenger door. He opens the door and sees Danny and Steve. They don’t have to say anything. He turns around and leaves.

The boys sit back down and Stacey brings their food over. As she sets down Steve’s coffee her hand is slightly shaking. “What’s a matter sweetheart?” Danny says. She says innocently, “I thought that guy was going to fight y’all. What was that all about?” Danny looks her in the eye and says, “some rich folks that aren’t from around here think they can take advantage of people without no consequences. Well that man did some bad things and we told him he ain’t welcome here anymore. Like I said, we look out for people.” She nods seeing that these guys might not be all that bad afterall. She giggles and says, “I’m not gonna lie, y'all make me kinda nervous. I’m just not used to seeing people wearing leather and being all covered in tattoos. I’m sorry I judged you, you seem like really nice people.”

“We are,” says Dan. “Can I please borrow a pen?” He asks her. He writes on a napkin and gives her the pen back with the napkin. “Here’s my number sweetheart. It’s intended for calling.” She smiles and says, “if I didn’t know any better I’d think you were hittin’ on me Mr.” He says, “I’m planning on doing that later.” She laughs and says, “are you now?” She puts her hands on her hips and walks away. Danny calls after her, “don’t forget to call me.”

The boys leave money on the table and go out to the car. They peel out and again everyone in the diner watches them leave. Danny says, “alright, let’s go get our bikes and head to Madre’s. I can still kick your ass in pool.” Steve brings him by to meet his daughter and Danny tears up when Steve hands her to him. “She’s beautiful Steve,” he says. She grabs his collar and smiles. “What’s her name?” he asks. Steve smiles and says, “Danielle.” Dan’s heart melts as he looks at the little girl. He feels overwhelmed with love and grateful he gave the last year of his life for this girl to be able to have her dad around.

Dan hands her back to the mother and says. “Y’all are so cute. Do you know what it’s like not to have sex for a year?” Steve says, “hah no we don’t.” Dan says, “well I’m gonna have some tonight. One lucky lady is gonna be real happy. I’ve been waiting and I’m gonna take it slow, bring it down low, take it back up, give it to her and she’s gonna love it.” Danny is known for being inappropriate. Steve’s wife laughs and says, “I’m glad to see you haven’t changed Danny.” She gives him a kiss on the cheek and goes into the kitchen.

Just then Dan gets a text that says, “if I did come to the party tonight, where is it?” Danny says, “yeah boy! That sweet waitress likes me!” Steve laughs and says, “no way dude. That girl did not like you. She was putting up with you because she wanted a good tip.” Dan responds, “nope she knows I’m a badass and that’s why she just texted me asking where the party is tonight.” Steve shakes his head, “that’s a sweet girl man, don’t corrupt her.” Dan smiles and says, “ok just a little bit.”

Danny sends his response and it says, “The baddest biker bar in town of course.” The babysitter arrives and the three bikers head to the garage. Three perfectly polished and chromed out bikes with ape hanger handlebars glisten in the sun. “We fixed these up while you were gone, and we’ve been waiting to ride em till you got back.” Steve says. “Damn!” Dan exclaims and kneels down to look at the body work. “You did this paint job?” He asks and Steve nods. “The lady did the leather work. She’s gotten real good.” Dan get’s on and says, “baller.”

They all get on their bikes and the engines roar. They pull out of the garage one at a time and Steve leads them to their friend’s house down the road. Their buddy Rob hears them pull up and comes out and gets on his bike and follows them. They cruise over to one more house and the guys can hear them coming. They were waiting and they stand up with their hands in their pockets. There is an unspoken respect when they ride in a pack. They roll up to the bar and park in a perfect line. The guys walk in behind Dan who is somewhat of a legend in the town for being a badass. He is known to not be afraid of anything and no one wants to pick a fight with him. The bartender leans over and gives him a hug, “we’ve missed you bro. Drinks on the house tonight.”

The bar is dark with pool tables and dark wood. The people here are not friendly by most standards because they are suspicious of people they don’t know. Dan sits at a table and everyone sits down with him. The bartender brings them a pitcher of beer and Dan pours everyone a glass. “Alright so cut the bullshit, what’s really going on in this town that I need to know about?” Steve looks at Rob with a knowing glance. Rob says, “well I got no secrets. Everybody knows my mom’s boyfriend’s an addict. She’s got bruises on her and this guy has some friends I did not want to mess with you know?” Dan puts his hand on Rob’s shoulder. Rob has a pudgy face and blonde hair. He’s not the most intimidating looking biker even though he wears the outfit.

Dan says, “I’m sorry to hear that. I will take care of it as soon as I get some pussey tonight!” Everyone laughs knowing Dan’s personality. “What else, don’t hold back y’all, I wanna know what’s really going on.” Steve’s wife says, “my sister, she’s mixed up with a bad group. They’ve got her dancing at night and she don’t even see how it’s ruining her reputation.” Dan says, “whose place is it?” She says, “it’s the one downtown. There’s this junkie giving her drugs and got her to start. His name is Pinky.” Dan nods, “alright, I’m gonna talk to him. Don’t worry alright?” She nods.

Chapter 2: The Sweet Waitress

Stacey is just getting off of work and has been thinking about Danny ever since he left. Everyone knows what the baddest biker bar in town is and it’s not a place she’s ever been. It kind of scares her because it’s so dark and the people that hang out there look so sinister. But something about the idea of going there excites her.
Just one drink,
she tells herself. She thinks about her boyfriend who is out of town on a fishing trip.
He won’t have to know, besides I’m not doing anything wrong!
She get’s into her white Honda civic and drives across town. She feels a rush of adrenaline at doing something outside of the norm.

She considers telling someone where she is going and images flash in her mind of what could go wrong in a place like this. She has changed into jeans and a white tank top. She’s a simple girl and doesn’t even wear much makeup. She pulls up to Madre’s and sees all the bikes outside. The red lit sign beckons to her to relax and have some fun. She reminds herself,
just one drink
. She looks in the mirror and smiles and puts her phone and keys into her little purse. As she get’s out of the car she wonders if she’s doing the right thing.

As the bar door opens and light floods in, Danny and the crew look up. Stacey looks like an angel with her blonde curls and white shirt surrounded by sunlight. “I knew you’d come.” Danny says patting the empty chair next to him. “That’s why I saved this seat for you and have this glass for you.” He pours her a beer. She sits down nervously and smiles, “hi y’all,” she says and waves cutely at everyone at the table. Danny introduces everyone to her and she says, “well I can’t stay long but thanks for inviting me, that was real nice.” Danny smiles and winks at Steve. Steve’s wife elbows him.

Danny, being his usual inappropriate self says, “so what do y'all married couples do to get kinky in the bedroom? I mean I hear you get bored right so what do you do to keep things interesting?” Stacey covers her mouth giggling. Danny says, “what that’s an honest question right? I mean I’m looking out for you guys. I want you to have healthy relationships!” Steve’s wife puts her arm around him and kisses him. “We do NOT kiss and tell right sweetie?” Steve looks at her sweetly and says, “no way baby, I only tell them about our fucking!” Everybody laughs. Rob holds up his glass and says, “hey I just wanna say, Danny, I’m so glad you’re back and we missed you so much man. My life wouldn’t be the same if it weren’t for you and I’m real grateful for ya.” They all cheers and Stacey is touched by the camaraderie.

Danny leans over and whispers in Stacey’s ear, “I have a question for you.” She looks at him quizzically. He waits, letting the anticipation build. He leans back over and puts his hand up to make sure no one else can hear him. “What color is your underwear?” She smirks and makes him wait for her response. She takes a sip of her beer, flirting with him a little bit. Then she puts her hand up to his ear and says, “they’re white and the only man that get’s to see them is my boyfriend who does exist sorry.” Feeling like she’s just nailed the last board on the coffin she crosses her arms and smiles thinking that will get him off her case.

Danny is not diswayed. “Steve, would you say I know how to treat a woman?” Steve smiles and says, “honestly, you taught me how to treat a woman right. I owe my marriage to you. Straight up.” Danny laughs, “now I’m sitting next to this beautiful angel who must not be being taken care of by her man or she wouldn’t be sitting next to me who's dying to get kinky with her, am I right Stacey?” Stacey, who's now on the spot says, “I umm…..” Danny cuts her off and says, “see you hesitated, that means he don’t treat you right and that’s why your hearts not with him. I’m here ready to rock you till the sun comes up and treat you like the queen you are and all you gotta do is realize that.” Steve nods his head, “he’s got a point.”

This crew likes to keep everything out in the open so they aren’t afraid to talk about anything. Stacey is not used to people being so upfront but there’s something refreshing about it. “Well I’d say a man is supposed to respect when a woman is taken wouldn’t you?” Danny nods, “absolutely, when she’s taken by a good man. But I got a feeling there’s something going on you haven’t told nobody and that’s why the little voice in your head led you here tonight because you knew I’d see it.” Stacey get’s tears in her eyes, “y’all I’m a good person, I didn’t come here with no intention other than having a drink and making some new friends. You seemed like nice people.” Danny knows how to push people’s buttons. He waits.

She says, “he goes on these fishin’ trips but it’s in the same town as his ex-girlfriend and I just can’t shake the feeling that he’s not bein’ honest with me.” Danny thinks for a second. “I’ll tell you what, let me talk to him on the phone and I’ll tell you if he’s lying or not. I can always tell when a man’s lying.” Stacey says, “you would do that?” He says, “well don’t you want to know if he’s cheating or not?” She nods her head innocently. “Alright call him.” Everyone at the table is watching, wanting to see what happens.

Stacey pulls out her phone and hits send then hands the phone to Danny. Danny says, “hey, how’s it going? I’m a friend of Stacey’s. She said you are on a fishing trip. We are just hanging out here and she told us she’s not sure if you’re lying to her about what you’re doing. Tell me, are you there visiting your ex-girlfriend and screwing around on Stacey?” The other line is silent and Danny puts him on speaker phone. Stacey’s boyfriend stutters, “What? I’m not, wait who the hell is this? Put Stacey on.” Danny stays calm, “listen, I will put Stacey on but not until you tell me exactly what’s going on. And if you lie to me, me and my boys are gonna find out where you live and beat the living shit out of you do you hear me? I just got out of prison and I’ll go right back in if that’s what it takes to protect this poor girl. Now are you fucking around on her or not?” The guy on the other line clears his throat. The seriousness of Danny’s voice is intense.

Stacey covers her mouth and closes her eyes, not wanting to hear the truth. “Listen I don’t know who you are but yeah what the fuck, I am here with a girl and it’s none of your fucking business and why the hell you messing with me?” Danny hits end and says, “see guys. Stacey I’m sorry sweetie but at least you know now.” She sits dumbfounded, “I don’t know what just happened. I’ve been seeing this guy for three years and he’s been taking these fishin’ trips the whole time. Damn.” Danny puts his arm around her, “well I told you today I’d look out for you. I don’t lie. Someone get this girl a cocktail stat!”

Stacey sits processing what she just heard and get’s angry. Danny says, “you’re cute when you’re angry.” They all start laughing and talking and Danny keeps his arm around Stacey.

Danny gets up and goes to choose some songs to play. He chooses a Michael Jackson song and begins to dance by himself on the dance floor. He sings along with the music perfectly and knows all the dance moves. “She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene,” he says with the song looking at Stacey. She smiles finally as his dancing is really good. He dances with passion and precision. He loves to entertain people and he only smiles occasionally when he stops for a moment. He is charming and using his powers to seduce her. As the song ends he goes over to the table and takes Stacey’s hand leading her to the bar.

“Now you’re wondering why the hell a nice guy like me was in jail. You’re thinking I’d make a great lover but what if I”m a hardened criminal.” She looks at him and says, “well I was kinda wondering what you did.” He says, “nothing, I took the hit on a white collar crime for my business partner so he could be there for the birth of his little girl.” Stacey says, “wow, that’s really nice.” He says, “I take care of my own girl.” He takes her hands and looks her in the eye, “so tell me, what’s your favorite sex position?” She blushes and giggles. He says, “I’m all about you baby, I wanna give you what you want and I can guarantee it will feel good.”
