CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

Bliss

T
he following day, after our ride around the Richardson Ranch, Devin and I rode back to the stables to return the horses to the stable hand. I’d met several pack members on the ride and everyone had been exceedingly nice. It helped to relax me quite a bit. No one growled at me or purposely showed me their fangs. I’d admit that I’d been extremely nervous when he’d told me we were coming to his Ranch to meet his pack. A part of me had wanted to run and hide, but I’d put on my big girl panties and toughed it out.

He led me to the very large, well-appointed ranch house. We went through the kitchen and into an extremely large room that Devin called the Den where dinner was being served. The room was filled with wolves at various tables. At the front of the room, there was a large long table that had two seats left at the head, which, I assumed was where we were to sit.

Devin stopped at the head of the table, picked up his water glass and butter knife. He touched the knife to the glass a few times. All conversation ceased and all eyes turned to us.

“Everyone, I’d like you to meet Bliss, my mate,” Devin introduced me. You could hear a pin drop in the room. I was suddenly very uncomfortable. After a moment, a pretty, pregnant, brunette about four chairs down, finally stood and spoke out.

“Hi Alpha Bliss. Welcome to the Ranch. I’m Dorothy and this is my husband David.” She nudged her husband. He nodded toward me giving me a tight smile.

“Hi Dorothy, it’s nice to meet you.” I responded with a smile.

“She’s a vampire!” A beautiful blonde exclaimed two chairs down on my right.

“Half vampire, half wolf,” Devin clarified.

“Is that supposed to make it better?” the blonde hissed.

“It’s not supposed to do anything. It’s just the facts Stephanie,” Devin barked. He gave the man sitting next to Stephanie a hard stare. The man leaned in close and whispered in her ear. Her face grew tight but nothing more was said.

Devin pulled my chair out, sitting me to his right. He took my hand when he sat giving it a light squeeze.

After a few seconds, more and more wolves from the main table started to introduce themselves. Most of them were males who were part of the security team. Some had mates, others did not. We finally got back around the table to the dark-haired wolf and Stephanie.

“I’m Beta Conrad and this is my stepsister Stephanie,” he introduced himself and the blonde seated to his right. I just nodded in greeting.

The meal progressed with lots of conversation and the occasional snide comment from Stephanie. It seemed whenever Dorothy spoke, Stephanie would use the opportunity to make a snide remark. It was really starting to get on my nerves.

When dessert was being served, several small children came barreling into the room. A set of twins yelling, “Mommy, Mommy!”, and waving colorful pieces of paper, ran to Dorothy and David.

“Damn breeder!” Stephanie hissed loudly.

I slammed my hand down on the table and all eyes turned to me. “That is quite enough out of you. If you have nothing nice or good to say, then you can leave the Den,” I snapped at her. I’d risen from my chair and was leaning toward her over the table.

“Are you going to let her talk to me like that?” Stephanie pouted to Devin.

“She’s right and she is your Alpha,” Devin responded with a smile.

Stephanie growled low and I growled right back at her, louder. “Leave,” I demanded. She got up from her seat, stalking from the room. When I turned back to the table everyone was smiling. Dorothy mouthed a thank you over to me and she looked grateful. She apparently wasn’t high up in the hierarchy of the pack so she probably didn’t feel like she could defend herself against someone like Stephanie.

I was suddenly pulled onto Devin’s lap and he kissed the daylights out of me in front of everyone. A riot of clapping and wolf howls filled the room making my cheeks burn. “Devin!” I was breathless from the kiss.

“Yes mate?” He kissed my lips again, quickly.

“Everyone is watching us,” I whispered.

“So?” He adjusted me more comfortably on his lap. Guess I wasn’t getting back in my own chair to eat my dessert. I just shook my head at him, reaching for my fork. There was a delicious looking slice of chocolate cake in front of me. I took a bite and moaned.

“Good?” Devin asked watching me take another bite.

“Delicious,” I said licking my lips. Devin turned my head to look at him.

“Yes, you are,” he whispered before kissing me again. He continued to lick my lips till I opened for him, allowing his tongue inside.

“Get a room!” someone called from down the table. I broke away from Devin quickly, embarrassed. I’d forgotten we weren’t alone.

“Good idea!” Devin responded picking me up and carrying me from the room. He took the stairs two at a time, not even breaking a sweat. We entered a large bedroom where he pushed the door closed with his boot. He put me down on my own feet, backing me into the door.

He descended on me before I even had a chance to catch my breath. His hands pulled my shirt over my head, then worked my bra loose. He pulled it off letting it drop to the floor, then he went to work on my jeans.

“Take off your shoes,” he instructed huskily. I toed them off, pushing them to the side. Devin pushed both my jeans and underwear down my legs till they were bunched at my feet. He stepped on them with one foot and lifted me up by my ass cheeks.

“Wrap around me.”

I wrapped my legs around his hips, his jeans rubbing against the flesh on my thighs. He lowered his head pulling my nipple into his mouth, rubbing his fangs against it. He wrapped his left arm around my waist, holding me up while his right hand worked the buttons and zipper on his own jeans. He pulled his cock from the tight band of his underwear and lined it up at my entrance. He was so big, hard and obviously in need. He thrust up inside me making me cry out. I was still a little sore and he was so big inside me. My back slid up the door when he thrust again.

He nipped me between my neck and shoulder. “Take all of me,” he demanded thrusting again.

I thought I was, but then he changed the angle of his hips, thrusting again, harder this time. I cried out at the overly full sensation. It was almost painful. “Slow down Devin, please,” I begged.

“Can’t. Need to fill you up. Need to mark you,” he muttered just before he picked up the pace, pushing my back harder into the door. He had a firm grip on my hips and he pounded inside me. I was totally taken and overwhelmed. I was loving every minute of it. I loved that he wasn’t holding himself back from me.

“Mine,” he growled just before he buried his canines into my shoulder making me cry out again.

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

Devin

I
buried myself inside her wet heat over and over again while I pulled her blood into my mouth. She tasted like vanilla and it was now my new favorite flavor.

I pulled my canines out of her shoulder, licking her wound closed. I took us to the bed, never separating our bodies. The minute her back hit the mattress I was over her again, thrusting deeper, harder, making her cry out. Her body tensed, her tight little pussy becoming tighter. Her nails dug into my biceps as she called my name when she came. Her orgasm triggered my own. I felt myself swell then I came, howling at the sensation. After what felt like an eternity, I rolled onto my side, pulling her with me. I was locked inside her, the swelling of my cock too much to pull out of her.

“Devin?” My name was a question.

I kissed her forehead. “I’m locked inside you for a little bit baby. If I try to pull out, it will hurt you. The swelling will go down soon.”

She wiggled a little making me groan. I grabbed her hip to stop her movement. “Be still Bliss or I’ll fuck you again,” I warned. She giggled making me smile.

“Sorry I was so rough. We’ll go slow next time,” I promised.

She snuggled into my chest. “Slow would be nice.”

We lay wrapped together until the swelling subsided. I pulled from her gently, slowly, knowing she’d be sore. She moaned slightly but seemed to be ok. I got up and went to the bathroom to grab a towel to clean her up. When I returned she was in the fetal position, sweat dotting her forehead.

“Bliss, baby, what’s wrong?” I knelt on the side of the bed so I could see her face.

“Did I hurt you? Was I too rough?” Jesus, I’d kick my own ass if I’d hurt her by taking her so roughly.

She shook her head no, groaning, folding into herself tighter. The sweat on her forehead had a pink tinge to it so I wiped it with my fingers. Looking down at my fingers, I figured out it was blood. She was sweating blood.

“What do I do baby?” I asked pulling the sheet over her.

“Micha,” she groaned.

I reached out to him via our mate bond. “
Micha I need you.”

“What’s wrong?”
he asked immediately.

“I think it’s her transition. She’s sweating blood, curled into herself. I can sense the pain Micha and it’s bad. I have no idea what to do
.”

“Fuck! Give her blood, then get her back here Devin. The fucking sun is still up; I can’t come to you!”

“Ok. We’ll be there soon.”

“You need to feed baby. Take my blood,” I put my wrist in front her but she shook her head no. “Please baby, feed.”

“I hurt,” she mumbled.

“I know. Feeding will help, then I'm going to get you home.” I bit into my wrist for her, placing it against her lips. She latched on, but her feeding was weak. She’d barely taken anything when she licked the wounds closed.

“Thank you,” she murmured tiredly.

I went to my dresser and grabbed a pair of boxers and t-shirt. I quickly dressed her in the clothes then called Conrad. I explained what I needed to do. He didn’t hesitate in agreeing to drive us back to the Treyvane estate.

I quickly dressed then picked Bliss up in my arms. She made a painful moan as she rested against my shoulder. I navigated the stairs at a fast clip then headed for the garage. Conrad was there in the SUV with the back door open. I climbed in and adjusted Bliss on my lap.

“Let’s go,” I directed just as Bliss’ whole body spasmed and she screamed.

CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

Micha

I
stood in the doorway waiting for Devin’s SUV to pull up to the house. They’d just made it through the gates and should be arriving any minute. Lucy was waiting in the vestibule with her doctor’s bag, as were all my warriors.

The black SUV pulled up to the front door, the back door opening. Devin climbed out holding Bliss tightly against him. I backed up so he could enter the house and then immediately took Bliss from his arms. She focused on my face. “Micha,” she whispered. The pain I could sense coming from her was like nothing I’d ever felt before. It was excruciating.

“You’re home baby. Lucy is here, we are taking you to the clinic,” I told her as I headed off toward the corridor that would lead me down to the medical clinic.

“Did you give her blood?” Lucy asked Devin.

“Yes, but she barely drank anything,” Devin responded.

When we finally made it down to the clinic, Lucy opened one of the exam room doors so I could enter with Bliss. I gently laid her down on the bed. Lucy was right there with her stethoscope listening to Bliss heart. Bliss screamed so painfully that it brought tears to my eyes. Her body bowed off the bed, strung tighter than a piano string.

Lucy set up an IV quickly, then cut Bliss’ shirt in half. She placed heart monitors on her chest and watched the machines for a minute or two. Every so often the monitors would spike and Bliss would call out in pain.

“What’s going on Lucy? Why is she in so much pain?” I asked. I stood next to the bed so I was in reach of Bliss. Devin wiped her forehead with a cool towel that Lucy had given him.

Lucy shook her head. “I don’t know Micha. She’s not wholly vampire and this isn’t a regular transition. All we can do is try to make her comfortable and let it run its course.” Lucy inserted a needle into the bag of fluids pushing a clear liquid into the IV. “It’s a pain killer,” she informed me.

Bliss screamed, her back bowing off the bed again. The blood coming from her pores was darker now. Lucy was there in an instant. The beeping of the heart monitor suddenly screeched.

“Everyone out now!” Lucy yelled beginning chest compression. She looked over at Warrick. “Get them out of here, I’m losing her.”

“No!” I heard myself yell. Devin howled. I reached for Bliss when four strong arms closed around me and began pulling me from the room. I fought against the hold but another pair of arms fastened around me. I looked over at Devin, when another howl erupted through the room. He put up a hell of a fight also but three of my warriors and his Beta were on him.

“Calm the fuck down!” Warrick yelled in my face getting my attention. I focused on his face, ordering my body to stop fighting.

“You aren’t helping Micha. Let Lucy do her job,” Warrick was my voice of reason. I took a couple of deep breaths, relaxing my muscles.

I nodded at Warrick, his hand loosening. When he fully released me I went over to Devin trading places with Gideon.

“Lucy will get her back Devin. You need to calm down,” I ordered gruffly. Devin let out another mournful howl before falling against me.

“I can’t lose her Micha. I can’t,” Devin cried. Tears flowed down his cheeks unchecked.

“We won’t lose her,” I told him. I believed it with all of my heart. Everyone turned when Lucy came out of the room.

She walked over to Devin and I looking us both in the eye. “I got her, she’s holding on, but I’m not sure for how long. She needs blood but she’s too weak to feed. We’ll have to do this the old fashioned way.”

I nodded. Devin and I followed Lucy into the exam room, both of us going straight to the bed. Bliss was lying there so still, her skin so gray.

I leaned over the bed, kissing her forehead. “Hold on baby. Just hold on,” I told her.

Devin kissed her cheek, whispered something in her ear that I couldn’t hear but suspected what it was. I noticed his hands were shaking just as badly as mine.

“Ok, who’s first?” Lucy asked standing near the blood drawing station.
