I
kick his leg under the table. “Hey purple is a nice color.”
Standing,
Knox pulls me up with him. “Yes it is and it’s you and I
love you.” Wrapping his arms around me, he hugs me tight. “We
will get through this, I promise. I’ll sell my bike if I have
to just to get rid of that asshole.” I can’t help but
laugh at him.
Looking
up at him, I shake my head. “No babe, you won’t have to
sell your bike and I am not paying that fucker a penny so we don’t
have to worry.” I shrug.
“I
love it when you’re feisty,” he growls against my neck
kissing a path down my shoulder. “Okay, lunch time. What would
my beautiful fiancé like to eat?” he asks pulling back
from the wonderful kisses making me pout.
“I
was rather enjoying that” I frown at him.
Quirking
his eyebrow he leans down again kissing my neck. “This?”
he asks and I hum while his mouth travels to my shoulder then
collarbone and over to the other side.
“God
babe, I missed you,” I whisper against his neck as his hands
snake up my thighs.
“I
missed you too darlin’.” Pulling back he looks into my
eyes his full of desire. “I want to keep you safe, Bailey,”
He whispers tracing my bottom lip with his tongue before biting
gently. My body seals itself to his leaving no room between us my
chest is crushed against his feeling the rise and fall of each breath
he takes as his lips close over mine.
Knox
makes a salad for lunch and we sit down across from each other. “Hey
do you know Max can make pancakes?” I ask ratting Max out.
Knox
laughs. “Yeah he is not too bad, but he just refuses to cook.”
I
shrug. “Maybe that’s why he and Paige are not getting
along.”
Knox
frowns and checks his phone. “I don’t think it’s
that it, darlin’.” We eat our lunch both keeping secrets
from each other. I clean up the dishes and make coffee. Bringing Knox
a cup into the music room, I watch him play the keyboard with his
eyes closed; the songs just flow from him one after another. After
about five songs he opens his eyes.
“Oh
hey darlin’, how long have you been there?”
I
point at the coffee. “Long enough.”
Drinking
the coffee he frowns. “That long, huh?” Leaving the room
he chuckles and makes a new coffee. Sitting back down behind the
keyboard he runs his hands through his hair.
“So
any requests?” he asks and I grin.
“Really?
I thought you didn’t take requests.”
He
laughs at me. “Only in the bar.” Sipping his coffee, he
watches me.
“What
babe?” I ask and he shrugs.
“Nothing
just admiring you.” Holding my hand up, I run out, and grab my
iPod and come back into the room scrolling through my music.
“I
think you should learn this and play it in the bar because it got me
through some lonely nights without you.” I smile playing The
Script ‘if you ever come back’. I sing along quietly as
Knox listens to the lyrics and frowns.
“We
don’t fight, darlin’.”
Shaking
my head, I smile. “No babe the chorus.” Sitting on his
lap I replay the song again and sing it to him. He still looks
unconvinced so I laugh and play ‘Breakeven’ singing along
and his foot starts to tap. Laughing I kiss him.
“They
are good songs, babe.” He nods wrapping his hands around my
waist.
“I
know, darlin’. I just hate you were playing such sad songs for
the summer.”
I
kiss him and smile. “I like sad songs, babe. Besides I listen
to techno when I run so it’s all good.”
Rolling
his eyes and smiles, “Techno?” I nod standing up.
“Okay,
babe, I’m going to chill on the sofa while you play in here.”
He nods and I close the door. Lying on the sofa, I rewind the day and
think about that stupid letter from Grove. It has to be something
that Emily came up with but how could she know about my nan’s
money unless Brad told her. Grabbing my phone, I call him.
“Hello,”
he answers cautiously.
“Brad,
it’s me Bailey,” I say curtly.
I
can hear him mumble something and then it goes quiet. “Hey
Bails, how are you? I never got to see you before you left” He
was never any good with emotions; that’s why we didn’t
get along I think.
“Yeah
I was just wondering if you and Emily were still together.” I
ask straight to the point and hear him sigh.
“No,
they left town when Ben was released from jail but I think they still
live in the area. Why?” After listening to him, I am still not
convinced of his trust-worthiness.
“Have
you ever spoken to her about my nan?” I ask waiting for him to
flip out or accuse me of something but he stays quiet. “Brad
you there?” I ask just as Knox steps into the doorway looking
pissed off.
“Yeah,
I’m here but I never really talked about you much. She would
always flip out if I mentioned you,” he tells me sounding sad.
“Oh
okay, thanks. I just wanted to know if anything ever came up about me
but if not then thanks for telling me.”
He
sighs, “Okay, Bails, take care of yourself and I miss you.”
“Okay,
thanks Brad, bye.” Hanging up I throw my phone onto the coffee
table.
Knox
crosses his arms and waits. “You need to call Roger now and get
the old crew back together?”
My
jaw drops as I sit up. “Seriously Knox, are you jealous?”
He
snorts shaking his head. “No darlin’, I’m not
jealous of that douche bag but I don’t get why you had to call
him.”
Taking
a deep breath, I look at him seeing the hurt on his face. I pat the
sofa seat beside me but he won’t move. “Jesus, Knox get
over here now,” I demand. Watching him cross the room he sits
down but not close, so I move over to him and situate myself in his
lap. “See much better.” I smile at him I can see his jaw
working but he puts his arms around me anyway. “Okay, here’s
the deal babe, I love you as you know.” I wave my engagement
ring at him. “I called Brad because the last time we were home,
he was dating that evil bitch and I wanted to know if she ever asked
about my nan or her money.”
He
nods, still not saying anything. “He said no but I don’t
really trust him or her for that matter.” Leaning down, I kiss
him and rest my head on his shoulder. “This whole thing sucks,”
I sigh.
“Yeah
I know,” he whispers into my hair running his hand up and down
my leg.
“You
know for someone who’s so cool and sexy, you sure do get
jealous,” I say looking up at him seeing him smirk.
“No
I don’t.”
I
nod at him. “Yeah you do. Just think how lucky you are that
Brad doesn’t go to our school and you don’t have to see
him everyday.”
He
groans,
“Sorry
darlin’, I know it’s hard for you.”
I
shake my head at him. “No it’s not hard to see her, but
when she tells me shit about you two, then yeah it gets hard and it
hurts.”
Knox
looks alarmed lifting me so I straddle him. “Why? Has she been
saying things while I was away?”
“No
I haven’t seen her all summer, thank God.” We sit in
silence as we look at each other.
“I
don’t want to lose you,” he says smoothing my hair.
“You
won’t just be a good boy.” I wink smiling at him.
“Promise
Mrs. Porter, I will be a good boy.” He grins and I laugh.
“No
way babe, I am keeping my own name stuff you.” Knox throws me
on the sofa and begins to tickle me until I beg him to stop and agree
to become Mrs. Porter when we get married. We are both breathing hard
and laughing.
“See
easy just take my name and all will be well,” he says it like
Yoda.
“Babe
I have a lot of money,” I say, looking at him and he shrugs.
“Don’t
care. I just want your body.” He smiles at me, leaning down
kissing my neck.
“Like
millions, babe,” I whisper making his head pop up.
“What
do mean millions?”
Nodding
I cringe. “Yeah, a couple. My nan had property and investments
and it all came to me.”
He
grins at me. “Damn I bagged me a good’un.” Laughing
he tickles me again making me cry. “I don’t care,
beautiful. I love you for you and that’s it. I just don’t
want that asshole taking anything from you.” I nod agreeing
with him pulling him down I crush my lips to his.
Over
the next few days Knox and I hang out in the apartment wearing next
to nothing and making up for lost time.
“Darlin’,”
I hear him shouting from the shower so I stroll into the bathroom.
“You
rang.” Peeking his head out he shakes the shampoo bottle.
“Empty,
can I use yours?” he pouts at me. Stripping off my t-shirt I
step closer to him and he throws the empty bottle down then grabs my
hand. “This is much better.” He smiles, helping me into
the shower with him, sliding my hands up and down his chest I kiss
his neck feeling him grow hard against my thigh.
“You
can use my shampoo babe,” I whisper to him them nip his ear
lobe.
“Huh
what?” he groans pulling me closer to him until I am under the
spray of the water. “You get me all worked up darlin’,”
he says between kisses traveling down my body capturing my nipple in
his mouth. Moving slowly he kneels down kissing a path down my belly
to my hips biting gently. “Hold on,” he says, lifting my
leg over his shoulder, as his tongue tastes me. I quickly grab the
shower curtain rod bracing myself as he kisses me deeply making me
moan, throwing my head back water beats down on me as I grab his hair
holding tight until he makes me call out his name in ecstasy. Kissing
his way back up to me he smiles.
“I
love hearing you call out my name.” Smiling I grip him tight
and work my hand up and down while watching him, his eyes flutter
closed as he bites his lip pulling my hair gently. I work my hand
faster making him moan.
“I’m
close,” he says so I drop down and take him in my mouth. “Jesus
fuck,” he hisses as I bring him over the edge.
He
stands panting for a few minutes letting water beat off his neck
lifting me up he wraps his arms around me. “You seriously
surprise me everyday.” He chuckles into my neck.
“Happy to help.” He
squeezes me close to him, resting his forehead against mine.
“I
love you.” Nodding, I tell him back then grab my shampoo
shaking it at him.
“Turn
babe.” Letting go of me, he turns around leaning his head back
so I can wash his hair. After I finish he washes mine, kissing my
neck along the way.
“Did
I ever tell you how happy I am that you said yes?” he asks,
turning me around to face him.
“No
babe, but did I ever tell you how happy I am that you asked?”
Turning
off the water, he looks at me. “No but I am happy I did”
He grins; gripping my waist he lifts me on to his waist and steps out
of the shower. “I think you have a thing for carrying me.”
Grabbing a towel, he throws it over my shoulders and grabs another
one wrapping around his waist. “I love carrying you, you fit
perfectly.” He winks, walking into our room.
I
dry off sitting on the bed while Knox stands in the closet.
“Nothing
to wear?” I laugh at him walking in behind him. It’s his
first night back singing tonight at the bar he grabs his faded jeans
and a dark grey button down shirt.
“Sorted.”
He smirks at me while I look on my side. A few minutes later he walks
back into the closet.
“Nothing
to wear?” He smiles at me.
“No
babe, nothing new anyway.” Stepping in he moves my clothes all
around pulling out my dark Jeggings, handing them to me them looks
through my tops frowning.
“Where’s
that one that hangs off your shoulder?” I look at him smiling
as he goes through my clothes standing up he scratches his head then
looks at me. “Where did it go?” Laughing, I point behind
him where it sits on the top shelf he smiles pulling it down.
“Perfect.” He holds it out to me.
“Wow,
demanding much? You gonna tell me what to wear all the time now?”
He
frowns at me, crossing his arms over his chest. “No I was just
helping; wear what you like.”
Grabbing
him I kiss him. “This works, babe. Good choice.” I wink
then get dressed and do my makeup walking into the kitchen I find him
on the phone so I sit on the chair resting my feet on his lap. When
he hangs up I smile. “I need shoes my little helper.” I
wiggle my toes at him.
“Okay,
I can do that. Hey I like this dressing my fiancé thing; it’s
kind of kinky.”
I
laugh pushing him into the room sitting on the bed I wait while he
chooses my shoes, I kind of like this too its fun and well it is kind
of kinky. Knox has a big grin on his face when he walks out of the
closet holding my knee-high boots.
“Please
tell me that these will go with that.” Smiling I nod and he
punches the air then drops to his knees, lifting my foot he slides
the first one on and then the next.
I
zip up the back and stand twirling. “How do I look?”
Knox
bites his bottom lip. “So fucking beautiful.” I put on my
ring and take his hand and we walk over to the bar.
“Who
were you talking to, babe?” I ask as we walk through campus.
“My
dad. He got home last night. I told him I would swing by tomorrow for
a few minutes.”
I
nod “Okay, but don’t forget we have a barbeque with my
dad tomorrow night. I will go up early and help him out.”
Knox
kisses my tattoo and chuckles. “I still can’t believe
that you go tatted while I was away.” Shaking his head, he
wraps his arm around my shoulders.
“Believe
it, babe. I am crazy like that,” I laugh sliding my hand into
his back pocket as he kisses my temple.
“That’s
why I love you.” We walk into the bar a little early so Knox
can figure out what is going with the orders. I see his uncle over by
the office waiting for him so I quickly sit at the bar and chat with
Chase.
